SanDisk SDMSPD-512-A10 512 MB MemoryStick Pro Duo (Retail Package) .......2007-10-22
Bought this memory stick for a Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W35 digital camera and I have nothing but good things to say about this memory stick! For the $6+ I paid, I have gotten a off-brand (i.e., not Sony manufactured) memory stick that is compatible with both the camera and the Windows XP Professional software on my computer. I've had the memory stick for about a month now and have not experienced any problems with it. A great product for a great price and don't hesitate to save yourself some money and buy one of these!
Works Great!.......2007-08-21
Works as described, no problems so far and the price cannot be beat, thanks to Amazon.

Customer Reviews:
Works well, filenaming size issue.......2007-11-30
Overall this product works well. I noticed other reviews complained about order of pictures being displayed. I shut off the shuffle option and mine did display pictures based on filename order. I prefer the shuffle option though. I have not had the power problem others talked about. One thing that was very frustrating was it would freeze at certain pictures. I finally determined that the picture filename of the succeeding picture was too long. Evidently the picture filenames must be 10 characters or less. Once I changed the filename lengths it worked flawlessly. I only use compactflash cards as that is what I have extra of. I have thousands of pictures on my computer so I setup different folders of pictures and copy those folders to a compactflash card to have the digital frame show different pictures when I get bored with the current set.
pretty good large display price - not too user friendly.......2007-11-26
I haven't had the problems that many others who've reviewed this product have had. Basically, I just need a large size electronic display for my digital photos. As it is, I found it to be a decent option for the price.
I think size wise, it's very nice. I had a 7" frame which was too small to be seen properly from across the room. At 10", this one is quite visible. And, close up, the picture is bright and the resolution is good.
I do find the fact that the camera displays pictures in an odd order a little annoying. The buttons could definitely have been better designed. But, for just putting a few pictures on a memory card of some type and turning it on and forgetting about it, it's not bad.
When you read the other reviews, think about how much control you want. Are you looking for a decent priced, large electronic photo display, or do you need a sophisticated, user friendly media display device?
I like it so far.......2007-11-23
Our son picked this up for my wife. I threw about 170 pictures in their original resolution (2-6.5 mb each) on a 2 gb SanDisk compact flash card and turned it on. It does take a LONG time to activate but it started up in "Mosaic" slide show mode right away. After messing around in the menu for a while it plays the photos in a "shuffle" one at a time and looks good doing it.
I haven't tried any video clips or downsized (to 800 x 600) yet. I haven't heard any noise after about three hours running. There's no heat from the frame itself but the AC adapter is warm.
The power cord could be a couple of feet longer and there is a small "wall wart" AC adapter to consider. The screen shows pretty uniform brightness and color. It MAY be just a little lighter at the bottom of the display or it could be the lighting in the room it's in. We don't need sound capability or a remote control so the lack of both is no concern to us.
The menu isn't very intuitive but if you play around with it, or ever navigated a newer TV menu, you can get it to do what you want. These things have been around for a couple of years but they're just getting decent now. I'm certain they'll get better with better processors and larger flash memory capabilities but for now this is fine. Some of the other reviewers are asking for some functions that a device like this just can't deliver. A cheap laptop with a photo display program might be a better choice.
We'll leave it on for a few days to see it there are any glitches but as of now I'm impressed enough to pick up another one to give to my sight impaired Mom. I'll save the cost of good photo paper in about a year with this and a couple of memory cards.
Great for a great-grandmother.......2007-10-09
Imagine a mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother, with grandsons and great grandsons leaving abroad... Many others working all the day ...
She was delighted by the present... She began to operate it and transfer photos and more photos from the cameras and computers.
It was really great to see her enthusiasm.
It is very easy to operate and very decorative.
Westinghouse 10.2-Inch LCD Digital Photo Frame
Design flaws make it hard to recommend. .......2007-10-01
To start, to turn it on, the instruction manual says to push the power button "for a few seconds". I've never had it come on in fewer than 15 seconds, and it often takes 30 or more. That's 30 seconds of sitting there like an idiot holding your finger on the button, wondering if the thing is actually defective. Have you ever even HEARD of an electronic device taking that long? Would it kill them to install a simple on-off switch instead?
The 5 operating buttons on the back are identically shaped (except for the round power button). This makes it difficult to use since you have to look at the front of the screen and feel for the buttons, usually hitting the wrong one. You end up having to turn the frame over and back many times to go through the menu and make your selections. It's understandable that they'd put the buttons on the back, given it's intended use as a wall hanging, it just would have been more user friendly if they varied the size and shape of the buttons, or their location, so you could distinguish one from another without having to visually confirm it.
The manual says that you can download files directly from your PC to the photo frame using a (not supplied) USB cord and a somewhat fussy procedure. I tried this and it didn't work. I ended up downloading my picture files using the same compact flashcard reader I use to download the files from my camera to my PC, and then inserting the card into the photo frame. If you load directly from your camera to your PC you might have a problem.
So far, I haven't had the problem identified in one review of having the compact flash card fall through the opening to loosely rattle inside the device, but after reading that and checking the unit, the writer is right. It would be easy to do, and a major pain. You do have to be careful.
The menu gives you the options of randomly choosing picture files to display and whether or not to repeat them. It doesn't give you the option of viewing them in chronological or filename order. Because most cameras name photo files with a numbering system, you assume that the computer chip would default to showing them in that order. That's not how this device works. It may be a result of how the computer saves the files to the memory card, but it doesn't display the files in the order they appeared on your PC when you downloaded them. That may not be a problem in some cases, but will be in others.
Potential buyers should give some consideration to the orientation of the photo's they may display (portrait vs. landscape). By default, portrait oriented photo's are displayed in landscape format, greatly reducing their size and adding some distortion. The software allows portrait formatted photos to be changed to display in full screen, but it's an 8 step process requiring the aggravating back and forth motion described above and it often doesn't work. It's much easier to do it on your PC (a fact the manual points out). Mixing the two formats is not advised if you intend to hang the frame or display it on a table.
A related enhancement would be to give you the option of displaying all portrait oriented photo's and then the landscape oriented ones, although this would only be useful for hand held viewing. If you regularly mix the orientation of your photos, this might be an issue for you.
The MosaicView is hardly the " exciting new technology" lauded in the manual, but rather a minor obstacle most users will choose to ignore. After all, why pay a premium price to buy a photo frame with a larger screen, only to display images at a quarter of that size? MosaicView makes the orientation problem even worse because it packs 4 photos on the screen, which just squeezes and distorts the portrait files even more.
The stand that attaches to the frame is easy and convenient for landscape view, but a pain to convert to portrait. Instead of integrating that option into the design, you have to remove 4 teeny tiny screws, turn part of the stand platform, and then replace the screws. Unless you routinely carry a jewelers screwdriver, plan on at least a 10-minute job.
The power cord is 6 feet long, making it just long enough to reach from your average wall socket straight up the wall for an average height viewer. A few more feet would cost next to nothing and at least give you the option of trying to hide the cord behind a curtain or the woodwork as it works its way up your wall, or alternatively, to pass the frame from person to person while sitting in your living room.
After using this thing for a couple weeks, my biggest gripe is that I think the designers really missed the boat on what could be the best use of this product, which is as a hand held picture viewer. IMHO, what this country needs is an easy way to share digital pictures when you're not sitting at a computer. I'd hoped that I could use this as a replacement to prints in informal settings. I thought that at work, in a restaurant, or when I have friends over and want to pass around my latest vacation photo's, I'd be able to pass it from person to person, letting them advance each frame by pushing a button. While you can do that with practice, the power cord and button location makes this pretty inconvenient. If this thing was battery operated and had more user-friendly operating buttons, I think the market would recognize it as the final link in the digital loop, a convenient way to carry and show your digital photos.
For those that feel my criticism is misplaced because it focuses on a use not intended by the manufacturer, you're right. If all you want to do is hang this device on the wall and forget about it, these concerns probably won't be much of a drawback. To be fair, the screen delivers very acceptable sharpness at a resolution of 800 x 400 and the small size of the files required at that resolution mean you can pack a lot of pictures onto a pretty inexpensive memory card (one caveat noted below). That capacity is poorly matched to the software's navigation system however, which requires you to move through each picture one at a time if you want to save a picture to the internal memory (on the other hand, the manual gives no reason why you'd want to do that, so most people won't bother). In the final analysis, I think most users will want greater flexibility to use this device as a portable photo album. If that's important to you, you should think about waiting for the next generation.
One final note: For users of compact flash cards, a word of advice. The quality of the card makes a difference! I first tried an old Kodak 16MB card because it was large enough to handle the 200 pictures I wanted to view after I saved them to an 800 x 400 resolution, but I noticed distinct digital artifacts making squared lines in circle or wave patterns through what should've been a smooth transition of color in many pictures. At first I thought it was a reflection of the 800 x 400 screen resolution, but after switching to a 1GB Sandisk card, the problem went away. This probably goes for other types of memory cards as well.

Professional quality sound and high-level functionality are what distinguish the ICD-MX20 Memory Stick Pro Duo Digital Voice Recorder. Sony has designed a powerful, sleek recorder with a seamless aluminum body. The slim-style design is only one-half inch thick, with "record" and "pause" controls located on the side of the unit for easy operation. This tiny device fits neatly into a shirt pocket. Record grandma for an audio-genealogy or interview a famous celebrity -- whether you're recording for personal or professional reasons, you'll be extremely pleased.
The built-in 32 MB flash memory uses a high-capacity IC chip. This technology allows you to record over old messages again and again with distortion-free clarity. Customer Reviews:
Good "Mid-range" Consumer-Grade Recorder For Voice Recognition.......2007-10-30
If you're interested in dictation and voice-recognition, the Sony ICD-MX20 is an excellent "midrange" consumer-grade recorder. It's expensive, but nowhere near as expensive as the high-end professional-grade Olympus or Philips recorders, and I've been getting good results with it. The Sony's joystick and other controls are small, but not that difficult to use once you get used to them, and I didn't think the enclosed instructions were hard to follow at all. I'm not a real heavy user yet, so I can't say anything definite about the battery life, but personally I don't have to change batteries that often as long as I remember to put the recorder on Hold when I'm not using it. My only complaint with Sony recorders in general is that they don't come with a decent carrying pouch. The one provided with the recorder is useless and I ended up having to search around until I found a cell-phone belt-pouch I could use.
I use the MX20 strictly for dictation, so I have no idea how good it is for recording lectures or music and the like. I do most of my dictation while driving around in my car and I always use a high-end noise-canceling headset mike (the Knowbrainer Hand's Free mike which is basically the same as the more expensive Sennheiser ME3 which I use for dictating at my laptop). With this setup, I've been getting around 98 percent accuracy with my transcriptions (using Dragon Naturally Speaking v9.5 and the recorder settings specified by Nuance). Personally, I think you almost have to use a good noise-canceling mike if you want to get decent results from transcribing dictation, so if this is what you're interested in, you should count on spending another $50 to $100 or so in addition to the price of the recorder. All in all, the MX20 is probably not the best recorder for speech-recognition, but it works pretty well and it's a reasonable compromise if you can't afford $500 for a Philips 9600 or an Olympus DS-4000.
Transcribing we will go..........2007-07-16
This is one of a number of electronic devices designed for all human beings with toothpick fingers. The little teeny toggle switch on this device is insane -- the operation is difficult and the operating instructions are convoluted -- so why five stars!? Because when used with the headphone mike that comes with Dragon Naturally Speaking -- nothing works better with that software -- I'm up to about 88% accuracy in just two days. This is a most powerful tool for all kinds of writing.
Good recording quality, some flaws .......2007-05-29
I bought this recorder to replace a previous Sony model that I'd been very happy with, but wanted longer recording capacity. The ICD-MX20 works very well in terms of recording quality, but it has a few design flaws I didn't notice mentioned in other reviews.
First, the main control is a very fiddly little joystick in the middle of the unit, and it's very easy to press the wrong direction (the main problem is that the main play/pause button is controlled by pressing it into the unit, whilst skip etc are up/down/left/right and it often fires off these by accident). The other thing (which is really quite a bit problem for me) is that even when the 'hold' button is on, the unit powers up when any of the buttons are pressed to tell you that the hold button is on. This means that you can't keep it in your pocket (which I did for my old Sony). You can put new batteries in the unit (I'm using 850mAH NiMH) and 2 days later the battery will be flat, even if you didn't use it and the hold button was on the whole time.
That said, I'm fairly happy with the unit. I keep it in my bag, and that fixes the 'hold' issue, but I wish Sony would fix the design issues. It's good, but could so easily be great.
Unbelievably Difficult to Use.......2007-05-20
Technical devices are usually easy for me to navigate. That is until I met the Sony ICD-MX20. It is unbelievable! I have now owned this device for 3 months, have made multiple efforts to read the incomprehensible instructions that came with the recorder, and am now looking for a replacement. It is hard to comment on all the great features every one comments upon when it is not possible to get to first base! This product is only for super techies. Normal people should look elsewhere.
No way to download Digital Voice Editor Software.......2007-04-08
I bought the ICD-MX20 a week ago. I was surprised that Sony does not provide downloads of the associated software named "Digital Voice Editor". Sony Customer Service staff told me that if you lost the CD that came with the box, you had to buy a new one. Only patches of the software are available to download.
This immoral policy violating the norm of digital appliance industries and should not be encouraged. Sony is demoting its brand name by offering poor post-sales services. Think twice before making your buying decision.

Customer Reviews:
SX memory-- great BUT.......2007-01-13
Sony memory sticks are always dependable. I have two Sony cameras and have found that not all brands of SX sticks work in both cameras when interchanged between cameras.Sony always works BUT cost about two times as much as SD memory. Picture quality is always the same on all brands.
Excellent.......2007-01-11
Used the expediated shipping and my product arrived 2 days later in excellent condition. Awesome Vendor!!!
Digital Camera Memory Stick.......2006-08-03
I was not sure about this because it was through a 3rd party that I had not dealth with. But the item was mailed in a timely fashion and arrived via mail when promised. I am very pleased.
Yep, this works in the PSP.......2005-11-30
I've personally verified this: this 256MB Memory Stick PRO Duo works in the Sony PSP as well as in the latest Sony digital cameras and camcorders. It's very fast in speed and very reliable. Just handle it with care as it's tiny and thin.
Now, in order to play copy-protected digital content you buy from Sony's Connect music store, you'll need to install the latest PSP firmware update. The initial firmware (v1.00) did not support MagicGate digital rights management.
For ultimate performance and reliability when it comes to Memory Stick Duo cards, I recommend Sony. There are too many reports of reliability issues with Sandisk cards.
Product Description
SanDisk's Memory Stick PRO Duo is half the size of a standard-size Memory Stick PRO media and it offers the same technologies including high speed data transfer, built-in MagicGate, and high capacities. The Memory Stick PRO Duo is the ideal solution for the most portable devices such as pocket-size digital cameras and with the use of Adaptor, it can be used in all PRO-compatible devices.
Customer Reviews:
Great Product, Great Price.......2007-10-15
After buying a bunch of games for my PSP, I came to a sad realization; 32 MB of storage simply does not cut the mustard. I needed a new MemoryStick, and needed soon. After doing some browsing, I saw I was not getting one cheap, with most being at about $20-30, until I stumbled on this one. SanDisk is a company which I've relied on for quite a few things. Their products are usually top notch (and usually not the cheapest of all products..), so when I saw this deal (only 8 bucks!) I jumped for it. Not only do you get the 256 MB MemoryStick Pro Duo, but you also get an adapter so that you can fit the Pro Duo into a standard MemoryStick Port, like I have in my computer. This makes it easier to add songs or homebrew to my PSP, without having to plug in my PSP! All in all, excellent product, excellent price.
Same as Sony.......2006-05-30
I found no difference between this and the Sony brand Memory Stick Pro Duo. Save money and buy from a non-Sony Brand.
Good quality.......2006-04-29
I bought this particular card for my Sony Handycam DCR-HC85 in case I ever wanted to snap photos with it.
Since it's a video camera as opposed to dedicated still camera, I didn't want to get the more expensive sony cards if I had no idea how much I was going to use it. That's the initial reason I bought SanDisk.
The card works perfectly. I haven't had any compatibility problems for the year I've had it. While I didn't need the adapter, it comes in handy because I have a Sony TV that accepts Memory Sticks to view on-screen.
Does what it is supposed to do.......2006-04-19
I bought this memory stick for my Sony Cybershot, and it does the job perfectly. It's nice that it has the MemoryStick Pro adapter, since my camera does not take MemoryStick Duo.
Best of both worlds.......2006-03-13
I prefer buy MemoryStick Pro Duo instead of Memory Stick Pro because almost every new device comes with the Duo standard. Duo comes also with a Pro converter so you can use it on MemoryStick Pro devices. I choose SanDisk because they are cheaper than Sony but same quality.

Lexar Platinum II Memory Stick captures images, video, and multimedia files in user-friendly memory stick format. It works with a vast range of applications, including Sony MP3 audio recorders, video cameras, and computers with a Memory Stick PRO slot.lot.
Customer Reviews:
Always buy Lexar..........2007-11-23
If you have Sony products, you're stuck with Sony propriatary memory stick formats. Thankfully, you're not stuck with only Sony branded memory.
Lexar makes top of the line memory in reliability and speed. I use Lexar for MS Duo Pro, CF, and SDHC. Never had any problems and the speed of transfer makes my digital cameras recover faster between pictures.
great deal.......2007-10-12
i'd bought it on sale and it works great with my psp and my phone.
Very Pleased.......2007-06-14
I was initially hesitant because i've never heard of this brand before, but the cheap price and the fairly large memory storage capability drew me in. Besides, if i'm not satisfied I could always return it to Amazon.
I put it to use with my Sony Cybershot as soon as I got it in the mail and I was quite happy. I took about fifty pictures and about 10 minutes of video, and of course, I still had lots of room left. When I uploaded everything into my computer, it only took a few minutes.
With the Lexar, i'll never need to go back to my 128mb sony memory card. I'm so glad I diverged from the brand name route and bought this product, it was worth it.
Good and Compatible with PSP.......2007-06-08

Great Buy.......2007-02-16
The product was a steal but I think I just lucked out on the deal. The memory stick is fine. I'm using on my PSP without any issues. I've dumped movies, pics, mp3's, etc without any incident. A very nice item. A good option aside from Sony's expensive line.

Customer Reviews:
its good for psp.......2005-06-17
i used this one for the psp, and it works fine, however, if you don't know about media, you get less storage than it is labeled as, you actually get 227mb of storage instead of 256. anyway, the adapter works fine, and will works with my vaio PC, however, some say the new memory stick pro does not work with the slot on the vaio, just simply download a driver off the sony site to read the MS pro. great product except it is black not white (i think the white is more stylish).
How many pictures will it store?.......2004-11-06
How many pictures will it store? It is the most commonly asked question from digital camera enthusiast but usually the question that is the most difficult to get a straight answer about. Well, considering I worked in the memory industry for over 7 years I can help clarify this perplexing question and do so unbiased as I have since changed industries.
The Lexar Media 256MB Memory Stick Duo Pro MSDP256-331, like most 256MB cards, will store on average 284 pictures when used with a 2 megapixel camera, 213 images when used with a 3 megapixel camera, 128 pictures when used with a 4 megapixel camera, 102 images when used with a 5 megapixel camera, and 80 pictures when used with a 6 megapixel camera. These numbers are based off the assumption that you are going to shoot your images at the highest quality JPEG setting available for the camera and understand that they are estimates and may be off by as much as 10 percent due to numerous factors including the complexity of the scene being shot and the compression algorithm used by your specific camera.
I truly hope this review was helpful to you in determining whether this card is the right capacity for your specific needs.
