The midisport is doing what I wanted. I wanted a simple input device from one synthesiser to my computer, and it seems to be doing it fine. The PC isn't an ideal computer for this, but that's not the Midisport's fault.

A real puzzle.......2007-08-24
I bought this interface to record my Yamaha Drum DTXpress III on my PC (Windows XP) using Magix Music Maker and Quartz Audio Master. I have to follow instruction of one of the reviewer here (Araki) to install the UNO correctly. But, then I was not able to record myself using the two software specify above. So I spent time reading their Help Guide and do google search in an attempt to understand MIDI, sequencer, etc. I download Midi-ox to see if commands was sent when i hit a drum trigger. Midi-ox confirm that USB uno is working. But... why the software didn't recieve the commands (no MIDI notes appears on the editor screen and the volume gauge stay at zero). It did one week that i got the UNO and i'm still not able to use it well. Maybe i'm dumb! For all this trooble, if i had know... i had not purchase it.

For the price range, you won't find a better deal, close to it is the 8600GT, which gives less than half of this card's performance, there's the 8800GT 256MB also, but sold for 40$ more.
If you don't game above a 1600x1200 resolution, or don't use above 4xAA at 1280x960, then this is the card for you.
Diamond manufactures cards for ATi 100% to reference, so there is a very basic bundle with this card, no bonus games, or programs, but it's the only one that was available with Free Super Saver at the time of my purchase.

Amazon has shown this card as In Stock for at least a week, yet as of 11/30/07, they still don't actually have any. They changed my estimated ship date twice before finally sending out a note saying it hasn't been released yet. I complained to Customer Service, only to be brushed off with the usual canned reply.
It's a great midrange video card. Order it elsewhere if you want predictable delivery.

I must to say that the performance was "just what i expect" nothing more like that. The card works on every task good, but in games on high resolution seems to be little bit slower.. but for this price you can't expect a nvidia 86oo.... works very good in almost all the task

This product is not supported by Windows Vista. BE CAREFUL if you have Windows Vista, you will not be able to install the driver.

Please see my review for M-Audio Studiophile AV 40 Speakers. I found the 2496 card to deliver a high-end, detailed, extended, dynamic, engaging, and very neutral sound, in combination with the AV 40 speakers and Audioquest Diamondback interconnect.
Excellent Sound Card but No Vista Driver.......2007-08-21
When I bought a new pc recently I installed the current driver and popped in the card. I soon discovered that the driver worked only for XP. As of 8/21/07 M-Audio does not have a Vista driver for this card.
I used it on my old pc for over a year and loved it. I wanted 24 bit audio and this one is an excellent entry level card for 24 bit.
If you're using XP and aren't upgrading or replacing your pc soon, this is a good option. One caveat. The driver may not play well with your video driver.
A MUST for amateur home recording from your PC!.......2007-07-12
If you are looking to upgrade your soundcard for recording purposes or just for the pure love of your music collection, the 2496 is the product you're looking for. I immediately noticed the enhanced sound compared to the card that came with my computer, and as a home-recording amateur, much appreciated the lines input/outputs for my stereo and midi controller. Well i read the other reviews before buying this card and i am happy to say, i am glad i ignored the negative ones.
This video card is NOT the most up to date. state of the art card you can get. If you have a new computer why would you want to upgrade with an older card? Of course an older card is not going to work well with a newer computer, or the most recent games or work with newer peheripals and so fourth. Just like older equipment wont necessarily work with newer upgrades.
My pc is 2.5 GHz, Dell, running XP, not a ton of memory. But this card upgraded it very nicely. The installation instructions could use a rewrite, they did not concur closely enough with my particular system. But I did not have a problem figuring it out.
They probably should re-evaluate, perhaps put a warning on the box saying the card will not work efficiently with systems made after xxx date.

The first card I received was bad so I sent it back to the manufacturer, after that it was a total nightmare with hours on the phone speaking with incompetent customer service reps. I would be typing a short novel here to explain the details. My advice; if your card is bad return it to Amazon and not the manufacturer. Also, you must have a 420 watt power supply for this card.

I have used much all day for applications and games, really its have a excelente performance for games in comparison with the Video Card MSI 128MB that I was, but still don't tested using multimidia software such 3D Studio max, TV out and heavier games. This video card have a input for energy such as harddisk, DVD and a processor that increase performance of PC. I need testing the other resources but for while I'm like they.

If your a gamer, this card is for you. It uses AGP8x and is an older card, but it's still hard to find a card with this much onboard memory at this price. It's a great card for the money. Installation was a snap. It did require that I buy a larger power supply. I was running a 300W and upgraded to a 580W. I was due anyways. ATI has always been a great company for Video. I'm not sure about how this card is supported in Linux. I haven't tried it yet. If your thinking of purchasing this card, and you run Linux, please check there site to see if it's supported by the distro your using.

I ordered this card to put in my mother's computer. She needed a basic card for listening to online music and such - nothing fancy - and this fit the bill. Install was a snap and took perhaps 10 minutes. I encountered no problems with drivers on XP and she was back up and happily listening to music within 15 minutes. Perhaps not the card for a picky audiophile, but great as a no-frills, good quality card which delivers surprisingly good sound for such little money.
Good Basic Sound Card.......2007-02-13
I needed a new sound card for an older computer and didn't want to spend a lot of money. This card fit the bill perfectly. While Windows XP didn't install the card natively, once the drivers were loaded off of the enclosed installation disk, the system rebooted and there was sound.
Don't expect audiophile quadraphonic rock-your-world super-duper sound for $20. But good stereo sound - good enough to play your kids' crappy mp3's for hours and hours - you'll get plenty of that.

I have experienced none of the problems stated by the reviewer George Heiser. This card works just fine on my computer.
Now, to why I rated the product 5 stars. I recently bought the Logitech X-530 5.1 system and needed a new sound card to replace my old on-board card. Sound Blaster cards and other big brand cards were very expensive, and I was on a budget. Then I find this card, a 5.1 standard 6-channel sound card for $19.99! I ordered it and it came in two days. I installed the card then followed the instructions and in about five minutes the card was working perfectly. The hardware the comes with the card is basic, but fine for my needs. I did experience one problem with the card, but I had it was because of a dead PCI slot (Opon moving it to another, the problem was fixed).
Put simply, this card works. If you are on a budget and need a new sound card, go for this card. I mean, it's nothing fancy but for $19.99 you can't go wrong.
No Sound Sound Card.......2007-01-10
This is my first Diamond Multimedia hardware purchase and definitely my last. What a piece of junk! It doesn't even rate one star. Following the instructions exactly....nothing worked as it was supposed to; nothing. Except well, oh yes, the system crashed. Not once but upon rebooting...it crashed again. They tell you to not use the Windows Hardware Installer...to and I quote from the instructions: "Click the CANCEL button on the found new hardware wizard." You are then to install their cd....but it does not work. It will load but not run and no amount of coaxing or tweaking will get it to run. So, upon trying the Windows Installer for new Hardware...everything went wrong with no loading of the program and dire warnings about system dangers. I had hopes of upgrading my ailing sound system which I disabled exactly as instructed...only to have NO SOUND with my old or new "soundcard" (it is in quotes because it will produce NO SOUND except frustration noises from me). And so being $20 poorer but a little wiser as to companies from whom to purchase products in the future all I'll say further is Pay your money for this useless hardware if you want...but be warned............
