I have owned this card reader for quite a while now and I use it all the time. I carry it with me basically everywhere and it's very helpful since I use different computers frequently. It's much easier to get my pictures from my digital camera using this reader than using the camera's cable. I recommend this product, but I think you should be able to get it at a cheaper price than the price being offered at Amazon.

Device works well.
A little bigger than the IO brand device I have.
I like the attached flip cover for the SD card, although it seems a little flimsy (not so surprising for something this size)

Only mild aggravation to date is that sometimes the card does not seat properly, and this is not obvious. Easily corrected by removing and reseating the SD card, or by just pushing on the SD card while plugged into the USB port.

I have used it with 1Gb and 2GB SD and SD knockoff cards sucessfully.

I've used this card reader for about five months now.

Removing your memory card from the camera, inserting it in this reader and plugging it into a USB port saves a lot of time over hooking up the camera to the computer by its cable, and also preserves the camera's battery power. Three different computers that I use have never had any problems recognizing the reader whenever I plug it in and it has lightning fast transfer time, even for large image files.

It's streamlined shape is more important than you might realize. I've used other square-shaped card readers that, because of their boxy shape, can't be plugged in because of plastic trim on the computer; or they have been too wide to fit into a USB bank without unplugging other USB cords, which sort of defeats the purpose of plug & play.

There have been no problems with the protective USB end cover coming off in my camera bag, and although the hinged cover where the card is inserted appears somewhat delicate, with careful handling, that has held up well too. The reader has a pocket clip on the back, but I have not used that.

Overall, I would recommend this item without reservation. It's one of the best gadgets I own for digital photography.

I bought this to transfer images quickly off of my camera but this piece of garbage was DOA. I opened it a little while after I bought it so I am too late to return it to Amazon and if I were to have Kingston repair it, I have to pay for the return shipping which basically is not worth it. Save your money and get a Sandisk one. I have never had problems with their devices.

I have been using this thing for over a month now, and it is GREAT!! I would highly recommend this for anyone who is a heavy user of SD cards.

I use SD cards in 2 of my cameras, and in my Zoom audio recorder. This little device reads them all with no issues. It has worked perfectly on several different Windows 2000, XP, and Vista boxes, as well as Mac OS-X, and even Ubuntu Linux!

When my cards are not loaded with sound or photos, I can use this thing as a generic "Jump Drive" to move other files around.

The only issue I have had with this is that the dust cover door is a little difficult to get open until it gets broken in. (or broken off, it's really not needed.)

I chose this product because it was inexpensive and had fairly good reviews. I've been using it for several months now (once a week or so), and it has done just what I have expected from it. I see no reason why one would need to buy a more expensive one. The only poor quality about it is that the little door that one must move to insert the SD card is a bit poorly designed, and takes a little maneuvering sometimes to open and shut. But other than that, it is an excellent little device.

Disappointed.......2007-08-08

The Card Reader arrived in good shape and on time. However, it was almost impossible for me to open the little door in order to slip in the small card. Then the reader, because of its somewhat bulky shape could not fit in the USB port of the computer. In the end it was a waste of money for me. The unit is nicely designed and attractive in appearance -- but that's all I can say for it. For me, it didn't work.

I just bought a new digital camera that uses sd cards. I was coming from a compact flash system. So, I didn't want to spend alot of money on a new card reader. I did a quick online search and found this one and it also came with a 1 gb card for around $18. I couldn't beat it for the price. I didn't want to go no brand. I plugged it in the usb jack and I am up and running. All very easy. The only weak part is the construction of the plastic door flap. If you have a kid or wife, they will probably break it, you must be careful.
