An Excellent Camera with a Great Telephoto Lens.......2003-08-03
The camera is compact, solid but light, and very easy to use. The images are very good to excellent. All the features seems to work just fine. The telephoto lens really brings images in. Its relative resistance to water-spray helps with boating photography. So far it has worked without a hitch. Though I own a digital camera, I believe that a film camera like this is still preferable for travel or for taking many pictures in a short time. All you have to do is plop a new film in and keep going, and then drop it off for development and you will end up with photos that will not fade out in a few years. I highly recommend this Olympus for an uncomplicated way of handling photography in an economical fashion and ending up with excellent results.

We have bought six Olympus's for our large family of grown children. They are easy to use, relatively inexpensive, and compact. But, they have a major flaw. On three of the six cameras we have bought, the lins cover has broken and this prevents the camera from operating. The authorized service places in Houston Texas say they can not get the parts to repair this product deficiency.

I bought this camera because of the light weight, the date/time stamp and the zoom capability, and I am very please with the purchase. We have two young kids and use the 115QD to take a lot of photos. The photo quality is very good (may be close to the Canon AE1 SLR that I used to use) under a lot of different lighting enviornments. So far we have no complaint about it, it is reliable and take great pictures.

I loved the features on this camera when I first purchased it. However, on only the 2nd or 3rd roll of film, I noticed the pictures (particulary the zoom pictures) were fuzzy. Olympus diagnosed the problem as the lens being off center. Now only 2 years later, the lens cover has broken off and the motor is not working properly. I am now looking for a new camera, but definately not an Olympus.

I got an Olympus Stylus zoom 115 camera a year ago and I use it alot and it still works perfectly. I love it's compact size and it's features. I love it so much I decided to get another one. I just recently ordered another one and I can't wait to get it. The Olympus Stylus Zoom 115 is the best camera i had so far. The red eye reduction feature is the best because when I took pictures on my old camera I always had red eyes but with the Olympus Stylus Zoom 115 I had a perfect picture. I also love the zoom feature because I can get a faraway picture and a close picture. The automatic loading and rewinding is cool to because it makes it easier and much faster. If you need a zoom camera this is the one to get.
Excellent Performance Offset by Reliability Problems.......2000-04-19
Small, easy to use and excellent picture quality when it worked. I have owned an Olympus Stylus Zoom for two years. Around the the end of the first year, it began having spurious light leaks. Just recently, a problem with rewinding made it necessary to open the camera and lose half of my pictures. Since then, the LCD readout has stopped working, so the exposure number and flash control are blanked out. I have to replace the camera, and am looking at other manufacturers.

I've had this camera for 5 years. I had borrowed my Mom's smaller non-zoom Stylus for a trip to Italy (so I wouldn't have to lug my big ol' SLR with me), and got such great results with it that she gave me this one for my birthday. It's everything that hers is, and it has the zoom. I love it. I've taken it everywhere with me, including several more trips to Europe, and it has always performed flawlessly. And I get better percentages of successful shots with it than I ever got with the SLR. I heartily recommend this camera.
Terrible Close-ups & Flash system.......2003-03-09
I bought it to take pix at my kid's birth. Every single close-up came out blurry. 100% of them. I also missed several pictures because of the "flash 50 times before taking the darn picture" system. Like most of the new point and shoot autofocus (supposedly) cameras, this one has cumbersome unnecessary technology. What I wouldn't give to have my 1989 Canon SureShot Zoom S back. I didn't know how good I had it.

The Olympus is a great camera. It has been on many trips with me and not failed me yet. The camera has experienced some mild damage (broken lens cover, crack in viewfinder), and still takes wonderful photos. The clarity and color are wonderful. The available remote control (recommended) allows the person behind the camera to be in the picture!

I bought a refurb. The camera has all the features including auto load, rewind. It uses Lithium batteries and I am now shooting the 5'th roll without any problems. The picture quality is very good. The zoom is not very effective at long distances and needs careful handling to prevent shake for good pics. The flash is effective under normal distances of 10-12 feet. The camera is robust and all weather as stated. A very good deal for its price.

Froze up at the worst possible moment.......2000-02-06
I purchased this camera in August of 98, and moved overseas. In January '99, my eighty-one year old father was riding on the back of an elephant in Thailand. When I went to take a shot of this once in a lifetime event, the camera lens froze in the out position and would not take a picture. A moment lost forever! Attempts to get the camera fixed overseas were futile, as they would not honor a US warranty. I sent several emails to Olympus asking some direction but received no response.
Also, soon after we purchased this model, my husband and I stood side by side taking the same picture with this and a Samsung comparable model, both on automatic, and found the resulting pictures to have no noticeable difference. Due to the lack of email response by Olympus, I would hesitate to buy another, as this one was money down the drain.

I am an advanced photographer, worked at it professionally, and posess 8 high-end cameras with boxes of lenses, accessories, etc.
I decided to try the Olympus as a "vacation camera" rather than hauling around camera cases stuffed with equipment. This jewel fits in a shirt pocket.
We headed for the Pacific Northwest. As a test, I decided to leave all the settings on the camera in the default full automatic mode in order to test its capability in dealing with varying photographic situations.
I was amazed. It handled backlight, sidelight, frontlight, full sun, overcast, fog, scenics, closeups, portraits, and anything else I could dream up and produced excellent prints of them all.
Don't worry about tiny buttons; you will rarely use them. The important ones are full size buttons.
I used only Kodak 800 MAX film with Kodak Premium processing, and could not be more pleased. The Olympus is the best "point and shoot" camera I have used.
Not stainless steel, just looks it........1999-07-13
The camera does most things well, but it isn't "stainless steel." Nearly all Olympus cameras are plastic bodied, and have finishes meant to resemble metal, leather, lacquered wood, etc. Other manufacturers offer metal-bodied cameras at substantially higher prices. Aside from that, the camera will be most useful for people who can adjust to small buttons and remember to cycle through the flash modes to select the right flash for the setting. It has good optics for a zoom-lens camera. Use a 400- or 800-speed film, and you'll get fine results.

My wife and I began using the stylus series years ago - starting with the single focus. Since then, we have collected several, including two zooms. They are so good, we find ourselves leaving our full-size 35mm cameras at home. My hobby is birddog training, and you cannot beat them for ease of operation, picture quality, and dependability in the field. I have had the clamshell frozen shut from freeding rain, warmed it in my hand, and then snapped pictures that turned out exceptional.
