Great only when in bright light or using flash .......2007-12-15
I love everything about this camera: Size, weight, that it takes videos, etc. I've owned a few Canons and I like the brand.
But there is one serious flaw with this one and it's a problem if you have kids or take action shots... they're blurry unless you use the flash. Well, I am not about to use the flash while my daughter plays in her indoor volleyball game. Every picture turned blurry. I have to try to catch her as still as possible.
We had a cousin in from out of town and tried to take pics of him with the kids. Blurry blurry blurry until I used the flash. Of course, flash washes out and gives the photo an unnatural color. Sometimes you can't make indoor lighting bright enough to avoid this problem.
Taking action photos outside works great and it's almost always crystal clear. Since there are many excellent reviews here, I won't rehash what they said -- this is a key point that needs to be brought to light.

First of all, I want to say thank you for taking your time to read my reviews. From experience using this camera for the last past 2-3 years, the camera is overall great but I think Canon failed on the IS. I never have any luck taking pictures in low light places. They're really blurry. Just recently, I brought my camera to take pictures of my sister's wedding and the image quality outdoor with the bright sunny weather is almost just perfect. But when me and my husband got to the reception inside a restaurant, almost every picture was blurred. It's almost unacceptable with each different mode I set to.
As far as the video goes, I noticed it would just go "off" while I was trying to catch a little memory movement instead of just taking pictures.
Most of the time that doesn't bug me but for most of you who wants to videotape longer with the time allowed on the camera, it might be a little irritating.
This camera is very fragile also. It can be easily slipped of your hands, I always put it in my leather case. That helps a lot.
Overall, this camera is GREAT for oustide and bright light areas but in low light areas, I wouldn't be surprised if anyone is disappointed.
I get compliments for the camera quality but only because they haven't seen the blurred ones. HAHA...

I absolutely love this camera. I've had many "point and shoot digitals" and you won't find one better. What the people who have the camera and "it just stopped working" did to it, I can only imagine, because mine has been dropped, wet, traveled hard, and used for scrapbook pages that were published. I love it. The larger screen in the back is what drew me to it first, the Canon name, a close second. But it's serving it's purpose, and I keep on using it, carrying it with me almost 100% of the time.

I agree with another comment that the button on the side of the handle is to easy to accidentally press and change the mode unknowingly. When using with the Canon PowerShot S3 IS, I found it doesn't work with the manual settings I prefer. You have to still use the pop-up flash to trigger the slave. Maybe a diffuser to eliminate the effects of the pop-up will impove the results.
While it does what it said it would do, in order to do what I want to do, I need to upgrade my whole system. If I want to be professional, I need a professional system. This is okay for now while I'm getting my studio business back up and running.

Bought this flash and grip for my fuji s7000. could'nt find one that was specific to this camera but tried this anyway. Results were very very good - night and day difference from using built in flash and set up was very straight forward. Plus side I did'nt have to worry about other flashes having voltage issues or needing adapters. Flash is very quick to be on the ready status - still playing with it to see how long battery lasts but otherwiswe excelent purchase. Took a while to get here but the wait was worth it.
