Sorry, but I don't agree!.......2006-09-19
I bought mine for $215.00 almost 4 years ago, and it still works GREAT! I was a long-haul truck driver, and I needed something that didn't take up too much space. I used it on my truck for 2 years, and it worked well even when the truck was moving (CDs, you know). I especially like the fact that.it will play PAL as well as NTSC DVDs. I'm home now, and use it (still) as a backup machine. However I never used the battery, never even took it out of the box, so I can't testify as to it. I LOVE THIS MACHINE !!
Not worth it.......2006-07-24
Died after a few months at which time the battery only lasted an hour, not worth it.
Poor Service.......2006-07-10
The battery never held a charge. Sent message to customer service and never received a response. Wouldn't recommend this product or company.
Breaks Down -- Warranty No Good!.......2005-11-12
I agree with all the other comments about this product not lasting very long. Ours worked fine for about a year then suddenly stopped playing for no reason. I called customer service and was basically told I was out of luck!
Mine only lasted 7 months, they won't honor warranty!.......2005-08-11
Apex may be an inexpensive alternative for those of us on a small budget, but mine broke within 7 months and they won't honor the one year warranty. They said it would cost 215 dollars plus shipping and handling to repair a manufacturers default( the plastic just fell apart). Considering I only paid 100 dollars, I told them they were crazy. Then when I asked to speak to a supervisor they hung up on me. I guess it was great while it lasted.

HORRIBLE picture quality.......2007-10-08
I tried over and over to convince myself that this camera will get better as time goes by, and I am done trying. The picture quality is absolutely horrible and really frustrating when you want to take a picture in a place with not-so-bright lighting. Even with a flash, the pictures still come out really dark...please spend your money on another camera.....
Excellent.......2007-08-23
I had had this camera for 3 months now and I can't tell you had much I love it. It has many more fetures than I would ever use but there are some drawbacks to this item. First, in low light conditions you must hold this camera steady after pushing the button or your pics come out blurred. Other than that it is a well made product.
My Old Camera is Better.......2007-05-05
I got this camera from another site thinking it was a wonderful price for a 5.1 MP camera and a flip screen. The light sensor seems to be out of whack. Every picture I take inside without the flash ends up having a red hue (no matter what I change the setting to) and when I do use the flash many times the person is whited out. Even my old HP 3.1 MP takes better pictures, and I was buying another camera to replace it. It also can't take vertical pictures, as in when I turn the camera, the viewfinder shows it as sideways or upside down, which I found weird because I've never known a camera to do that. And when I did take a vertical picture, there was no rotate feature to be found on the camera. It also makes this annoying 'beep' when I take a picture. I'm the type of person who likes to take pictures without another person noticing and the beep is neither inconspicuous or desirable.
Other than that I really have no problem with it. It lets me change what size I want the pictures to be, which is good, I guess, even though I'll just resize them on my computer; it comes with a nice carrying case, it's a good size, and again--I love that the viewfinder flips out and that the view can be flipped as well. Had I had known everything about it before I spent my savings on it, I wouldn't have wasted my money or my time, but I suppose I can live with it now that I have it.
Not so great............2006-12-14
I thought with this being a 5mp camera it would have great resolution....not true I have found. My pictures come out fuzzy, the coloring looks weird no matter what setting I have it on and I can't take pictures close up without catching a lot of glare. Also I can't take pictures in any kind of low lighted place. I think I actually got better pictures with my Kodak 2.1 MP camera.
I love it cute and compact.......2006-11-24
I just got this camera today from walgreens, after changing the frequency to 60HZ instead of 50HZ all my photo's come in clear and unblurry. It comes aready at 50HZ so if your having problems with it beeping and flashing and the picture still not right that is it. It is slow to relize your pushing buttons but it does respond. In the container I got the cord(usb), bag, batteries, and carry string. I love it.

Its not even good enuf for an entry level camera.......2007-02-22
I paid $140 online, cudnt get the MP3 to work, the photos outside wer OK didnt try any inside, I got it for my wife but sent it back right away an got her a full featured 4 MP Kodak for $90
Horrible Camera.......2007-02-10
I bought this a year ago. It sucks. I cant take any pictures inside even with bright light. It looks like I'm in a cave. It was cheap for a reason. Do not buy this camera. I cant even get the mp3 function to work.
For what I Paid, It was a good deal........2006-10-19
Only reason I got this camera really was because of its great rechargeable lithium polymer battery. No more buying batteries for my camera, and it has longer battery life. Also, I only paid 49.99 for this camera at wal-mart.
Worth the money IF it's on clearance...but don't pay retail........2006-09-28
I found this camera on clearance for $49 at WalMart, and I bought it for my daughter. No, it's not perfect, but I think it's an excellent camera for $49! Would I suggest paying full list price? No. As other reviews said, the flash has issues. But if you can buy this item for under $50, I say go for it! My daughter loved it!
Hey...I like it.......2006-03-21
I had gotten a kodak 3mp camera for christmas, it broke after the first day and I was never given the recept, so I could not return it. I through away the warrenty info, if there even was one so i was left with no alternative but to buy my own. I got it at wall-mart for 140$. My kodak was big and ugly and not too easy to use. this camera by contrast is really sleek and super easy to use. I really didnt need the mp3 feature but its a nice addition. Im not like a photographer or any thing but the pictures come out pretty good. yes the flash does white out some of the pictures but only when you are really close (less than 3 feet). I really like the look, reminds me of an ipod. I have yet to make prints but on my computer they look pretty good. Good price, nice package, bonus Mp3 player (would not suggest this for an everyday, stand alone MP3 player), decent pic quality, im happy.

Best on a budget.......2006-01-04
I purchased this camera a day after christmas. Although the lcd screen is slighlty smaller than it's competitors the PDC 5350 takes pictures with superb quality with 5.2 effetive MP. Along with the camera there is a carry strap and free nylon case which is a nice perk considering most others do not come with cases. If you're looking for a compact inexpensive camera that takes great pictures this is the right one.

Customer Reviews:
Buyer beware, Polaroid does not warrant this camera........2007-03-30
I bought this camera in Dec. In Jan. the autofocus and autofocus assist lamp stopped working and the camera would not shut off properly. After calling Polaroid and sending it in for repair per their instructions, I found out that the warranty has a "replace at their discretion with a comparable item" clause. They called me, claimed they don't have the parts to fix them any more because they are discontinued, and wanted to replace the X530 with an extremely lesser Polaroid, the A520, which retails less than $100--by their judgement "comparable" because "it's 5MP". Don't consider the facts that the X530 has a Foveon imager, a great Ricoh 3x lens with macro focusing down to 1 cm, a rechargable lithium ion battery with charging cord, a 32MB SD card, autofocus assist lamp, etc. etc. etc. which the "comparable" model does not. I had a huge hassle over it, and they finally replaced it "just this one time" with a "demo" camera that they claimed had been "checked by three technicians" and a warning cast in stone that if anything goes wrong with the replacement camera, it will be replaced with another (much cheaper) model. Then, insult to injury, when the used replacement camera arrived, it had no manual, the autofocus assist light aims 45 degrees to the side of the lens and so is useless, the battery they included is bad and my options are to trade it in on a crummy point and shoot or pay to fix it myself. I'm no lawyer, but I would think Polaroid is slipping over into class action suit territory here. The image quality of the Foveon sensor is breath taking, but buy at absolutely your own risk.
Coulda been a contender, but still an interesting novelty w/ Foveon sensor.......2007-01-18
John Buckingham's review sums up the camera pretty well for 2007. The camera is practically unusable in this day and age due to VERY slow focusing, slow shot-to-shot times, and horrible ISO 200/400 performance. Movie mode is very poor, compared to the VGA 30FPS MPEG4 video most compacts can do now. The camera is light but chunky, and definitely NOT pocketable.
However, now that prices have dropped significantly, this is still an intriguing project camera for those who want to experiment with a Foveon sensor. The camera comes with the same processing software that comes with the Sigma DSLR's (rebranded for Polaroid), and working with RAW images is a joy. The 'Fill Light' feature is in particular very noteworthy. The main negative is that shooting in RAW format slows down the camera even more (we're talking maybe 6-7 seconds between shots, I didn't time it.)
Also, the image quality of the camera is quite good (within the aforementioned constraints.) You can lock the camera at ISO 100 (too bad you need to set it again if you power off the camera). Colors and resolution are excellent, and 8 x 10 prints look very good- really! The colors seem very full and stand out, without seeming overly-saturated. I think the Foveon sensor acquits itself very well in this regard.
Finally, macro performance is excellent, with a focusing distance of under 1 inch. Images can be very sharp and have excellent detail.
This might be a great second camera for you to play with, and you will probably be surprised by the quality of many of your images. But don't buy this expecting it to be your everyday camera, it's far too slow and limited for that.
If anything, this camera shows the promise of the Foveon sensor in a compact digicam, if low light performance can be improved. In fact, Sigma is releasing the DP1 compact with a 28mm fixed lense in 2007, and I will definitely look out for that one. That camera may deliver all the strengths of the x530 without the weaknesses.
A Really Nice Camera.......2007-01-16
For the money, I don't think you can beat it. The foveon chip provides excellent color, even under low light. The capability to save in RAW format and the included image software gives you a lot for your money.
For the Price and Technology, it's not that bad!.......2007-01-09
If and when you do buy this camera, first read and re-read the manual. Download the manual fro the internet. A quick start guide is included. Let your first set of pictures be your test. Once you learn how to use both the ArcSoft and the Polaroid Photo Lab software, you will never take a bad picture again. At the price that it has come down to, this camera is a steal. One thing about this camera; though it lacks a real manual override, you have to mentally be the manual control. You have to continually think "what type of light am I shooting in," "Should the ISO be at 400 instead of 200," etc.. You have to become the brain for the camera. Only then can superior reults be achievable. Daylight settings are outstanding. It's shooting at night is when you have to be it's brain. The technology is worth the price alone. Camera's that use the same technology cost almost$2000.00. Working with the Foveon X3 Fill Light scene technology, the x530 is the perfect camera for the novice or experienced pro, looking for point and shoot technology with excellent performance. The video film clips work decently. The only draw back may be the battery. To remedy this problem, buy another with charger. It can also expand to a 1G card. The camera is a little noisey and a little slow. You also have to realize that this camera has been out since 2004, with no real improvements to it. The current technology has caught up and probably surpassed it. If you would like to see photos taken with this camera, go to your seach button and punch in "Photos taken with Polaroid x530 Digital Camera. I still love this camera.
Great picture, but the camera could use a little.......2006-12-07
I got the camera about a year ago because I was very excited that something affordable came out with the X3 chip. I have used it quite a bit for a hobby camera, but it also does pretty well with day to day situations. It is a very easy to use camera, and the battery life on it is phenomenal. In a previous review I read that it could only hold a 512 SD card (this is also what the manual said) but I like to push my luck and a gig chip, works great. The camera is small enough to where if you don't mind a bulge it can easily fit in a coat or cargo pocket. It's fairly light and pretty sturdy. I dropped it once right after I got it and the lens came out of place a little... but I managed to just pop it back in and it still works like it never happened. The camera is mildly featureless, it basically has an auto setting and some focus range settings but that's about it other than ISO control and exposure settings. I've never actually had good luck with the auto setting; I've found it to be much easier to just flip back and forth between landscape and portrait modes. The macro mode doesn't allow for any zoom or focal point change, and once you start recording with the movie mode zoom is disabled. All in all I do like the camera except for its biggest problem, it is extremely slow. The taking of the picture is quick, you get what the screen shows you before the snap, but saving the files to the card takes a good 8 seconds. Also I found that even if the flash won't help the picture in any way (i.e. landscape shots) it helps to keep it on (as long as it wont hurt the picture), for some reason it seems to trick the shutter into being faster and the pictures turn out much crisper. Also the first thing I noticed was that when you're looking at the LCD screen when a picture is not being taken the image looks a little grainy and has very faded colors. After the picture is taken however the image looks just great. One of the best parts of the camera though is the software it comes with, it really is almost like developing film (without the cool effects that can be done) but exposure settings and color manipulation is very powerful. Overall I am pretty happy with my camera. I would recommend it to anyone who really likes film photography and wants to go digital, it really does a good job mimicking film.

guaranteed out-of-focus shots.......2004-08-26
When I purchased this inexpensive camera, I expected poorer than average image quality, but I never considered that the images might be unusable.
Every single shot taken by this camera appears badly out of focus. Shots I took at 5 inches (!) looked no worse than those taken within the recommended 3-6 feet. Some reviewers seem to think that the poor quality is because of the small size of the images - but on web pages, 0.07 megapixel images should look just fine.
A piece of junk.......2004-02-21
Flash didn't work most of the time and if it did, it took to long to set itself up again. Had to change batteries constantly!!
good for a first digital camera.......2004-02-04
This camera is basically only good for someone that doesn't know alot about computers and digital camera.
what stinks about this camera, is there is no flash....and you can't buy a memory card to store more pictures, so it's not good for a vacation.
the quality wasn't the best, kinda grainy....
but if you're just looking for a simple camera to learn the basics of how to work digital cameras, this is a good way to learn w/o spending too much money
couldn't use for anything!.......2003-05-09
I bought this camera hoping to use it to take pictures of stuff to sell in online auctions... and couldn't even use it for that, as every picture was very blurry, and it was very hard to get any detail, except with TONS of outside light. The only thing was able to do successfully was "impressionistic" artwork of flowers!
polaroid digital camera 320.......2003-02-06

Customer Reviews:
Great until it breaks and it will !!.......2007-09-14
I would agree with the other reviews on amazon up until the unit breaks, And it will break! I am led to believe there are a few thousand customers waiting for there broken units to be replaced. The only problem I had with the gps unit while it was working was in chicago, the unit was too slow to process the streets and you ended up passing the street as the unit said to turn.
When the unit broke customer service was great "return it and in 5 to 7 days you will have a replacement" Well thats where it ended. It has been just short of 4 months and I'm still empty handed. I've called 8 to 10 times and they are now calling me with updates. Here is the typical update "we are still working on the issue but as of now we have no idea of what is going on and there is no way we can track anything that has or is being shipped." The last update I recieved at the end of august was that the shipment from overseas had been refused and sent back because of improper paperwork. I called today 9-14-07 and they still have no idea if they have stock, no idea if my replacement has been shipped, no idea how to find out any information at all. So Buyer Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice screen, DVD playback, outdated maps and data.......2007-07-27
My family and I just returned from a vacation trip to Boston and the Cape Cod area with only our MGX-0560 GPS to get us from place to place. I had pre-programmed most of the locations we wanted to visit and the suction cup mount made it a piece of cake to install in the rental car. After departing the Boston metro area, we decided to stop for lunch. As we wanted to try some of the local cuisine (seafood of course), we pulled up "Seafood Restaurant" on the GPS menu and picked a relatively close one at random. We were directed to a residential area with no restaurant in sight, so the Polaroid GPS failed its first real test because of outdated info. (Luckily, as the unit was steering us back to the main highway we found a very good seafood restaurant along the way, so it wasn't a completely wasted trip.) However, we did not attempt to use the restaurant location data after that. There were only a few instances of outdated map info that we observed (traffic circles that had been replaced by overpasses, for example) but other than providing a bit of confusion, it didn't really impact us significantly. The Polaroid GPS successfully got us from the Boston airport to Hyannis to Falmouth to Plymouth and back to Boston - and we never once looked at a map.
I love the huge screen and the voice prompts from the FM radio work very well, as does the DVD functionality. I am just a little concerned - OK A LOT concerned - about the availability of map and data updates for the Polaroid GPS units. The GPS FAQ at Polaroid's website showed availability of map updates in June 2007...then July 2007...then the proposed availability date info disappeared from the FAQ altogether. I called Polaroid's customer support and was told the map updates would be available in mid-August of 2007. Well, I'll believe it when I see it. It is only because of the update issue that I rate the Polaroid MGX-0560 a 4 instead of a 5.
UPDATE 08/01/2007: The backlight on my 2-month old MGX-0560 failed, rendering the unit unusuable. I have returned it and will not purchase another Polaroid GPS. Too bad, really, as I really liked - no, make that LOVED - the large screen and DVD.
Fantstic.......2006-12-01
I agree with everything Robert Shoemaker said.
It is a fantastic unit that has more features than any other I have seen.
Polaroid GPS 5.6" Touchscreen with DVD.......2006-11-07
I just purchased this gps /dvd unit from target and i have to say it is great. the large 5.6 inch LCD screen is sharp, and the DVD playback is excellent. this GPS unit has it all. I give it 5 stars and the price for all it will do, is far below Garmin or tom tom with a smaller screen and no dvd player which is great on long car trips.
it also plays CD's and JPEG picture Cd's.
I say buy it, comes with all the stuff you need even a nice black tote bag. the car mount system is top notch, with a large strong suction cup that holds it very secure.

Buttons Stick, Hard on Batteries & Battery Latch Broke.......2007-05-28
We had the same complaints as cited previously. The start button was always erratic, which was very frustrating. It used up AA batteries very quickly. Eventually I dropped it and the latch over the batteries broke so it wouldn't work. Unlike some, I thought the pictures were okay and the camera's appearance was okay. I would not recommend this camera; it is just frustrating
Poor Camera Service.......2006-12-12
I purchased this camera the day after Thanksgiving last year and now the Lens will not re-tract or extend. I contacted polaroid and they will not repair the camers (even at a charge). I contacted a polaroid authorized dealer and they cannot reair the camera either because polaroid will not sell them parts. DO NOT PUCHASE DIGITAL POLARID CAMEERAS unless you want to throw away money.
Worst camera ever.......2006-06-29
I bought this camera and with it being 4mp I thought this would be a good starter camera. When I opened the box I could not believe the poor quality of this camera, it looked like a cheap plastic childs camera that is worth about $10. The flash worked only when it wanted too and the buttons would stick. It also paused for about 4 sec. between pictures. The pictures were blurry so needless to say I sent it back. Please stay away from this camera. Very poor camera.
Not a Good Buy.......2006-06-07
I had the same problem. The Camera never worked for me. It always did what I didn't want it to do, and it was horrendous on batteries. It gives Polaroid a bad name, and I am not happy I was misled by the stores.
Awful.......2006-06-07
I've had this camera for a few months. And it's terrible. The buttons frequently do not work, the shutter often gets "stuck" outside of the camera, and the battery latch keeps falling off. Will never buy from Polaroid again.
