No problem with registration or repair.......2007-12-16
I had no problem registering the iPod on line, even though I bought it from Amazon. The registration does require filling out an online form and choosing an "Apple ID", but the defaults are set NOT to send any advertising emails. etc.
I did have an opportunity to use the AppleCare warranty about a year after buying my Nano (battery didn't hold charge). The telephone call did take about 12 minutes on hold (daytime hours), but the tech rep offered either to send me a return box (free shipping), or I could take the Nano to an Apple store and exchange it. My closest Apple store is a tank of gas, so I exchanged by mail. The box came in 2 days, and the Nano was returned within a week. I can't tell whether it was the same unit or a refurb, but it was in pristine condition.
My experience isn't unique; Consumer Reports regularly lists AppleCare as the best tech support in the electronics industry.
Great protection ... pain in the rear to register ..........2007-10-01
I bought (2) iPod Nano's, and (2) AppleCare Protection plans.
Amazon's price for the AppleCare Protection plans was GREAT!
APPLE's registration process was NOT.
I could NOT register either iPod online. Both produced error messages and I had to call Apple directly. Both calls lasted at LEAST 20 minutes each.
For one iPod, I actually had to fax them my receipt because the item had been on the SELLER'S shelf for over 90 days and Apple had to verify that I had actually purchased it legally.
For the other iPod, I purchased it DIRECTLY FROM APPLE as a refurbished unit, and I STILL had to call them to register it! Seems that even though the serial number displayed on the screen and etched onto the back of the unit matched each other, neither one of those matched the one on the Apple invoice!
I know this entire process was set up to prevent theft/bootlegging, however it is just annoying and time consuming for me, the true purchaser.
Let's hope I NEVER have to call Apple to actually utilize one of them!!!!

Amazon.com Product Description
Delphi's compact SA10085 Roady2 XM satellite radio is, on average, four times smaller than competing plug-and-play models. While 30 percent thinner and 40 percent lighter than the original Roady, the Roady2 features the smallest satellite-radio antenna available, together with a built-in wireless FM transmitter for easy setup and reception in any vehicle. Just tune your car's radio to any of the unit's 12 FM frequencies and sit back to enjoy XM Radio's 67 commercial-free music channels; 63 channels of sports, talk, comedy, children's, and entertainment programming; and more than 21 channels of advanced traffic and weather information for major U.S. metropolitan areas.
Roady2 offers a convenient scroll wheel, 30 channel presets, and 10 direct-entry buttons. The two-line display offers artist, track, and channel information, and it has seven selectable background colors to achieve the look that suits your style: red, night blue, green, pink, purple, sky blue, and orange. TuneSelect will alert you when a favorite song starts playing on another channel, and the unit's versatile mounting options consist of a vent mount, swivel mount, or Velcro.
Additionally, Roady2 is the first satellite-radio receiver capable of displaying up to 20 customized stock quotes while playing any of XM's 150 digital radio channels. The influential PC Magazine gives the Roady2 five stars, calling it a "brilliant device" and naming it an Editor's Choice. The magazine praises the Roady2 for its small size and rich features.
The ticker keeps track of up to 20 of your favorite stocks while you listen to your favorite music, news, sports, and talk channels. Stock data is provided by Comstock, Inc.; stock and market index information is delayed by approximately 25 minutes.
Broadcasting live daily from studios in Washington, D.C.; New York City; and Nashville, Tennessee, at the Country Music Hall of Fame, XM Satellite Radio's 2004 lineup includes channels offering music from hip-hop to opera, classical to country, and bluegrass to blues.

XM satellite radio receiver.......2007-12-13
I love this receiver. I have it installed in my car and absolutely cannot live without it. The only problem is that one of the outlets is not secure, therefore I keep the receiver in my car and dont' take it into the house set. I don't want it to get broken.
Fragile - unreliable........2007-04-02
From a feature / functionality / price perspective these are great radios. The only problem... I've gone through 3 of them in less than a year. Different problems. I wish that I could say it was all due to the same defect or that I abused them somehow.
Spend a little more on the xt. My parents have had ONE for about a year and it seems a more sturdy replacement.
Love it!.......2007-02-11
My husband and I have each had the Roady 2 for more than a year now and have had absolutely NO complaints. Despite the advent of newer and "nicer" models, we have no wish to upgrade. This version is dated but works like a dream. I use mine with the cassette adaptor and get great sound. My husband has no cassette player in his JEEP, so he uses the built-in FM modulator. It took us awhile to figure out where to place his antenna, but that is simply because the JEEP has a soft top. Once we placed it and found a clear station, the Roady 2 has never failed him. Save your money and buy this version!
I like it.......2007-01-19
I got the Delphi receiver maybe 2 years ago. It's great for people who want to try satallite radio, but aren't great in the electronics department. Its simple to use and I like how you can change the colors of the backlight. The only time I get bad reception is if I'm in the back woods somewhere, but that is rare. The down side to this receiver is that the black faceplate came off, which is probably why they gave you two extras. The vent clip gets worn out over time and doesn't stay on the air vent half the time. And unless you get the unit professionally installed, there is an crap load of wires to stash in your glove box. I would recommend this unit to others, the only thing I would do differnt is get it installed. It's a great starter unit. It does the job, which is play satalite music.
Lots to like, but ..........2007-01-14
This little receiver (and accompanying package) is really a cool setup ... HOWEVER ... the FM transmitter/modulator is the weak link. It has 2 serious shortcomings. (1.) The signal is pretty weak. Other items plugged into my other power outlets in my car interfere with the signal (especially charging my cell phone). To be fair, it's barely noticable with music channels, but with voice channels (news, comedy, etc.) it has an annoying hiss if I have other devices plugged in. (2.) It doesn't transmit on all FM channels. In fact, it only transmits on 88.x and 107.x I drive in areas where all the channels in these ranges pick up some sort of station, so my Roady2 competes with distant stations. Overall, I'm satisfied with it, but with a little more effort, Delphi could have had a home run with this little guy.

not reliable.......2007-10-19
I bought it and once used during the trip to Grand Canyon.
The power inverter is OK but noise, however the transmitter function is really bad. The signal by the transmitter was so weak, it was only functional when we was Grand Canyon without any interference by public radio. After trip, the transmitter function stoped to working any more.
Loud fan and buzz in FM transmitter.......2007-09-24
Purchased the item September 7th 2007.
Put it in my 2007 Chevy Silverado for an FM transmitter for my Dell Axim X30.
Had a $15 cheap no-name fm transmitter from CompUSA that worked OK, but fell apart.
First thing I noticed was the loud fan. Sounds like an old noisy CPU fan. Doesn't seem to have any temperature sensing since it fires up right away and stays at full power. Rotated it to redirect the sound, but ended up getting an extension and sticking it in my console. I can still hear it over the HVAC fan and road noise (stereo off).
Next I tried the FM transmitter and found that it was clipping badly. I am running the Replay Gain Handler (No clipping) Plugin for Pocket Player (which fixed my clipping problems in the past) and fiddled with the gain to minimize the clipping. In the end, minimizing the gain and lowering the volume seemed to fix the clipping issue which lead to the next problem.
With or without content being sent the transmitter adds a low hum to the sound. This is not present on standard radio stations and wasn't as loud on my old cheap-o transmitter. Between the low volume/gain on my Axim and keeping the stereo volume low to avoid the hum, it can be frustrating.
Last issue... The USB plug was installed crooked. I had to twist the white wedge to get the plug in. It moved with a snap... so I don't have a lot of confidence in its longevity. It does work though.
Haven't tried the inverter.
Hope this helps other purchasers.
great so far, we'll have to see in the long run.......2007-09-17
I just bought this unit, tried it out over the weekend...so far so good. I read the other review that said it died after a month, i'll have to see. It sounds like the may have blown the fuse, they did send a spare with it, and also you can pick them up online here or at many harware stores. Hard to say what happened. Anyway, It works great with my mp3 player and DVD player, and the brodcast is good, but i do wish it was a full fm range and not just 15 stations. I do have another transmitter, and when i got into larger cities, I used the whole range. But, for the versitility, you can't match this unit. It's universal for anything player, Ipods, zune, gigabeat, zen because it is a plug in, it has USB charge as well, is even has a lighter adapter for another device as well. Look around, you'll be back to get this one.
Noisy.......2007-09-13
It looked good, and worked well. However, when I put this device into a cigar jack, it made a noise. Thus, I gave up using this device while I am driving.
Excellent.......2007-08-09
Used in my RV for a week trip. Ran my Ipod, GPS, and FM transmitter with no trouble at all. Works as it should. Very happy

Customer Reviews:
This Tuner used with the VW Factory "Monsoon" System.......2006-10-10
The '05 VW New Beetle, came with an excellent Bose-designed "Monsoon" sound system, equipped with an Auxilliary Input jack. So, to have SIRIUS Satellite Radio in this vehicle on that system, I did some research, where I learned that VW's factory optional satellite receiver systems utilizes a remotely mounted tuner unit, almost dimensionally identical to this system's tuner.
The Display/Control Panel looks and works beautifully fastened up along the center of the front edge of the car's sunroof opening, just aft of the sunroof control dial. There the display's blue backlight can even be set to its lowest brightness setting, and still be easily read, day or night.
The tuner's main unit (metal box) fit nicely where the OEM optional satellite tuner would've been mounted, under the carpet and fastened to the vertical (firewall) sheet metal ahead of the front passenger's foot well.
Wired into the same power circuits the factory radio uses for "Battery" (memory backup power) and the "Ignition/Accessory" voltage supply, it's been working flawlessly since it was installed over 6 months ago. I almost never turn off the SIRIUS tuner at its control panel, leaving the deactivation of the tuner to the ignition/accessory switch "control" supply voltage.
Perhaps that's why mine has never given me any problems. I suspect the click-type button switches ("Power On/Off" included) in the control panel, might not have a very high expected cycle count. Membrane switches, like those found on typical remote control keypads, probably would've been a better choice for the sake of durability.
Long-term exposure to the sun could also severely shorten the display/control panel's life expectancy. So, I nearly always close the sunroof shade when the car's parked out in the sun.
Most notably, if your car's sound system has a stereo line-level input, it's well worth the trouble obtaining the the audio patch cable with the application-appropriate end connectors (purchased separately) through which to hook up this tuner! Even though this tuner's FM interface is far better than those relying on an 'airwave' connection, I recommend only using the FM modulator interface, when no direct audio hookup can be made.
For me, the hardest and most time consuming part of the installation was partially removing the headliner so the supplied SIRIUS antenna lead could be routed between it and the roof, over to and down the "A" pillar to the tuner box. The antenna was secured to the roof, using the grey double-sided foam door guard-moulding tape available at most auto parts stores, just ahead of the factory roof AM/FM stubby antenna's base. It's possible to purchase an OEM optional AM/FM/SIRIUS satellite radio combo-antenna usually included along with a factory satellite radio. But, I wasn't fond of paying the $250~$300 for it, not to mention having to fuss with adapting the dissimilar coaxial connectors, in this case.
So, with a little "creative engineering", I was able to more-than-adequately retrofit the SIRIUS-supplied antenna, resulting in an installation that imitates the factory design. It's one of those jobs that's really rewarding in more ways than one, as long as the one doing the installation is careful and takes the time needed to do it right the first time.
Don't Buy this item.......2006-02-08
I purchased an SC-FM1 radion in September 2005, it worked for about two months, than I could not get a siganl. I logged a defect ticket with Sirius radio assuring me that I would receive a replacement radio within 30 days. Well, its been over two months and counting. Sirius customer care says it may be several more months before I get a replacement radio. The product is bad, and the Sirius customer service is worse.

Customer Reviews:
Works but with a lot of background noise.......2006-05-18
Like the previous reviewer, my unit did not look like the picture. There are a bunch of pictures on the internet of what it does look like though. It also seems to be rebranded by a bunch of different companies and sold under their name. Mine had 7 preset frequencies that you set with 4 dip switches. The on/off switch that you can wire in to your power circut was defective and did not shut the unit off. The wire going to the car antenna input is a very small gauge. Maybe it is not shielded properly, but on my unit there was an awful lot of background noise at each of the 7 frequencies. This was with playing a battery operated mp3 player, so there was no ground loop issue. The noise was more that I could live with so I'm returning the unit.
Also, like the previous reviewer, I found that the modulator did not really get loud enough. When I changed to a regular radio station, the volume coming from the radio was at least twice as loud. There is an adjustment for gain on the unit, but when you turn it up, you also increase the noise. I don't know why there was so much background noise and hiss; perhaps the metal case wasn't grounded properly, but playing with the ground didn't seem to do any good. Also, this unit does not cut off all FM stations when powered on. I have Jensen FM modulator that does this and it is a very nice feature. There is no possibility of getting interferrence from other stations that way. That unit also does not inject background noise into the speakers.
I'd stay away from this unit and probably all the other rebranded units too.
FM modulator- different than pic.......2006-02-09
The unit I recieved is quite diffent from the picture. 1. it does not come with female RCA cables coming out of it, -you have to plug directly on to the unit. and 2. there is no cable with a female cable end for the antenna, -you have to plug the antenna wire directly into the unit. I hope that when I install it the antenna cable reaches to wherever I mount the unit. A better technical description, and an accurate photo would have been nice.
It also does not operate well. I took my time and did a nice installation spending over 3 hrs on it. Sound quality is OK, but i have to more than double the volume on the radio for comperable volume to other stations. It is usless with any amount of wind noise- which there is a lot of in an old pick up. I should have just bought a new radio for the amount of time I spent- or a cassette adapter- NO installation for that!
Oh yeah- because it doesn not ship from Amazon, the shipping was an aditional $7 increasing the actual cost by 50%.

Product Description
Your Starbase, Starmate, or Sportster radio features a wireless FM transmitter that plays SIRIUS satellite radio over your in-dash stereo. If you live in an urban area with high FM-station density, interference from neighboring or weak FM stations can often creep in. This relay device makes a direct, wired connection from your SIRIUS radio to your vehicle's stereo, shielding the system from intrusion by over-the-air FM stations. You get nothing but clean SIRIUS playback.
The relay plugs into your SIRIUS radio's dedicated FM output. At the other end, it plugs into your stereo's antenna input. Your stereo's antenna plugs into the relay, so you won't lose any AM/FM reception. You still select the "broadcasting" frequency from your SIRIUS radio's FM transmitter menu, and tune your stereo to the same frequency.
Internal relay switches between SIRIUS operation when PNP is powered on, and AM/FM pass-through operation when PNP is powered off.
- wired FM modulator relay
- compatible with SIRIUS Starmate, Starbase, and Sportster plug-and-play radios
- 2.5mm mini audio output plug
- standard antenna input cable
- cable length: 21'
Amazon.com Product Description
Tired of relying on your FM transmitter to send your Sirius satellite radio signal to your car stereo? Turn instead to this wired FM modulator, which provides a direct connection to produce a crisper overall sound. Unlike FM transmitters--which often suffer from static and interference--the FM modulator plugs directly into your factory or after-market stereo, where it shields the system from intrusion by over-the-air FM stations. The device is particularly handy in crowded radio markets such as urban areas, where interference from neighboring FM stations can often creep into the Sirius signal. To install, simply connect the FM out from your FM modulator to the FM antenna input of your stereo head unit. Once you're connected, the modulator's internal relay will switch between Sirius operation (when the receiver is powered on) and AM/FM radio (when the receiver is turned off). Compatible with Sirius Starmate, Starbase, and Sportster plug 'n' play radios, the FM modulator comes with a 2-foot FM cable and a 19.33-foot minijack cable and is backed by a one-year warranty.
What's in the Box
FM modulator, FM cable, minijack cable, user's manual.
Customer Reviews:
Mandatory if you use the FM modulator for Sirius input.......2007-10-04
My deck lacked an "aux in" so I had to connect my Sirius through the antenna. Unfortunately the sound quality was bad, and finding a clear frequency that didn't introduce static was difficult. Adding this little widget was a snap and it makes the FM input sound just about as good as you can get. Highly recommended.
Works Great!.......2007-07-22
I was getting interference when passing other cars with wireless modulators and radio towers. This product cut all the interference and I only hear MY sirius signal, loud and clear.
I also bought a wired modulator with RCA jacks from Metra to plug my iPhone into and replace this product, but the sound quality was no where near as good as this one so I ended up keeping this on and daisy-chaining both.
This product does not have a 3.5mm earphone jack. It is a Sirius specific jack.
No power source needed and plenty of wire to send the connector to any part of the car your radio might be.
Works great, but............2007-04-07
My Sirius reception is OUTSTANDING with this, no complaints. BUT...I no longer can receive AM, and some of my FM frequencies have been affected, also. That being said, it is not a big deal to me, I'm a huge fan of Sirius, it is that good, trust me, you won't be able to listen to regular radio ever again....
