Easy to assemble, very sturdy, the rotation design really saves space, and you can load almost 150 DVDs into this. Looks a lot more expensive than it is, as well. Excellent for a dorm room or den.

I'm very surprised at how sturdy this little tower is. It takes approximately 45 minutes to assemble. The instructions are clear and all of the hardware is sorted and labeled in separate baggies ( my husband greatly appreciated this!).
Good DVD Storage for the price.......2007-02-11
I wasn't expecting much since the product was made out of laminated pressboard, but once assembled, the dvd storage spinner looked rather nice. I'm not mechanically inclined, so assembly of the dvd storage unit took longer than expected and I did leave out 6 of the wooden dowels even though the assembly directions were diagramed, but all in all, I think the storage unit will not fall apart (hopefully). The price was excellent (about $32).

Positives: Parts all labeled clearly; the little pieces were all in individual bags and labeled with the letter matching the instructions (instructions say use a "K" screw, then open the "K" baggie); predrilled holes were all spot on and everything fit correctly upon completion; quick and easy to construct; spins solidly and smoothly; instructions were clear and simple; I think it looks good.
Negatives: Due to inadequate protection, all four of the vertical side panels had a scratch of some nature on them; one of the shelves had a chip in the corner, even though those boards were wrapped; had to wipe down all the boards to clean off this grayish residue off them here and there.
Overview: It's not furniture grade, it's just laminated pressboard (1/2 in. for the sides, top and bottom plates; 3/8 in. for the middle shelves and dividers). But in context of the price (something like $35 delivered), it's an outstanding value. The marks, other than the chip in the shelf, are not visible from the couch, and it looks good otherwise. The color is a brown, but a dark brown. Sits on my black shelving fine.
FYI: each of the eight shelf spaces are 10 3/4 inch wide by 8 1/4 inch tall.
Bottomline: If I had to redo my purchase, I'd buy this product again.

I got exactly what I paid for. Not much. It's made of fake wood and kind of tricky to assemble. Thats to be expected, what i didn't expect was the design was also bad. If you look at the picture you'll notice that the DVDs rest on a 1 and 1/2 inch wide bar of wood that is tilted backwards with a wooden rod as a backstop. If any of the dvds fall sideways, and lay on its side they immediately slide backwards and fall off the shelf. I'm going to get another one soon.
A Decent Media Rack.......2007-11-30
This isn't a high-end media rack. That said, it is adequate for the purpose of holding up to about 500 slimline jewel boxes. Undoubtedly it won't withstand a substantial earthquake, but then if you want such a unit, do you really expect to pay only 20.00? I bought one of these at Wal-Mart about a year ago, and just bought a second one about a week ago. The first one demostrated that, bang for the buck, this is a more than adequate for the purpose. The only downside to these racks is that the sliding dividers move more easily than I'd like, and standing the unit on a carpeted floor will result in a cascade of discs all over the floor. If you need storage for a large number of movies or CD's, and you have a hard surface on which to stand this unit, it will do the job just fine.

When I shelled out a mere 20 bucks for this, I didn't expect much. I just wanted a temporary way to store my games and DVDs. With my expectations as low as they were, this item still managed to fall short.
It takes about 30 minutes to put together, not too dificult. But it's obvious right out of the box that it's very cheap. Once assembled, it's incredibly flimsy. No way it lasts a minor earthquake (I'm in SoCal) or even an accidental bump. Save yourself $20 and upgrade to a nicer model. You'll be glad you did.

It only takes 15 min to unpack and fully assemble. It has a low profile on the floor to save space. Its perfect for CDs, but not tall enough to use all the shelfs for DVDs. Overall it was a good buy.
A decent buy........2007-12-06
They are priced a little bit higher than they should be since they are so small. They ended up costing me about $60 each with shipping. I went to a local store and found full-sized black wire storage racks for $30 a few days after I bought these. You can't fit much on these except for media and very small objects. Also, the shelves that came with mine are slightly bent, and no matter how much I try to bend them back to being straight, they still look a bit crooked and off.

i bought it because it said 8 shelves. i wanted to use it specifically for dvds. i basically got 6 stand-up dvd shelves and one lay down dvd shelf. the other shelf is laying in my closet somewhere. i have two four shelf racks and those were so amazing i wanted a bigger one. i just wish all the 8 shelves were useable and would have loved to see a review that told me so before i spent $80 with shipping. (the two 4-shelf racks were $20 each at walmart)

Cons: Flimsy. I am amazed at how poorly the legs are attached to this rack. The slightest pressure will cause the leg stands to pop off and they have no threads to secure them back on.

Nice, inexpensive storage rack. Easy to assemble and seems sturdy. I think the feet are ugly - big and round. Also, I'm not fond of the white straps to anchor to the wall. I'll probably find something different if I decide to anchor the unit to the wall.

I bought this stand because of its smaller size to fit between a fireplace and a window and it works beautifully. The stand comes in a lot of pieces but goes together fast and easy. There are 2 wall braces that require being screwed into the wall. This makes it super sturdy.
It's not nearly as bad as it looks........2007-10-17
This rack came in a small box with the parts needed for construction, no extra tools needed. The entire rack consists of plastic frame reinforced by metal bars for each shelf, making the entire thing seem somewhat weak or unstable looking. Comes with wall mounters which i didn't use, you'll have to consult with somebody else about those. But for the most part, the product is rather stable and my rack of ps2 games hasn't fallen down yet, which i say is a huge plus because it's a full 90 dvds. The shelves however themselves aren't shelves, it's just like, 2 bars pretty much, so they sometimes sit in the hole on the shelf layer rather than the shelf itself. I have not had any dvd topples or falls or real incidents with it so i say that's more or less a minor setback, but its still there.
At this point I am satisfied with this product; its compact, holds 90 dvds, cheap, and it works. May not be as nice as a real wooden media shelf, but hey, you get what you pay for.

It is ok, but not real sturdy and diffucult to put together. It is lightweight plastic, and needs to be anchored to the wall to prevent it from falling over. The DVD's are tilted to lay backwards, makes it easy to see the titles, but difficult sometimes to get them out without bumping the ones above them off their shelf. I wouldn't purchase another one.

This is a really nice and fully adjustable CD/DVD rack that can be configured in many different ways. I own one ELF464 and four Penguin 322's (nearly identical ATLANTIC rack). Directions may not be the best, but, if you take the time to look at them and follow the order without tightening anything at first, it will assemble easily, although a little slowly. Look at the pictured formats, decide what your storage requirements are and go to it. Once loosely assembled and satisfied, tighten everything up securely. Anyone who has had assembly complaints invariably tightened things up before they were supposed to, and the instructions warn you not to do this. It includes the Allen wrench that is needed and extra spares of both the washers and screws. It is a stable unit that holds an amazing amount of CD's/DVD's, looks good in doing so, and displays the cases rather nicely - easy to read and access. I configured mine to hold 240 DVD's by starting each successive row, seven rows from the last (six empty spaces in between). These are definitely nice products worthy of your consideration!

putting this together was not as easy as I had anticipated. I had to take it apart and put it back together several times to adjust for both CDs and DVDs, but once it was together I loved it. Now we finally have everything all in one place!

Fine storage rack with a few assembly problems..........2007-07-21
This attractive media storage rack stores any combination of CDs, DVDs and even VHS tapes. Of course you can use it for just one of the three types of media, too. It fits nicely up against a wall and the design with its titanium coloring goes with most contemporary and modern décor. The rack also comes with easy to install and move shelf dividers so that you can split a shelf between two or more different types of media. Very good!
The rack is easy to lift and carry around your room or your home. If you wish to carry this rack across several rooms you would be well advised to carry just the bottom half first and then re-install the upper half of the rack after you place the rack in its new position. One cautionary note: I wouldn't move the rack when it was full or even just partially full, either. Empty the rack before moving it so that you don't risk media spilling all over your floor or shelf dividers coming loose and falling onto your floor.
This rack is particularly useful for persons with large CD collections. Amazon correctly notes that the rack holds over 400 CDs--excellent! At just less than four feet high it won't get in the way of most windows or artwork hanging on the walls of your home.
I have some concerns about the overall construction of the unit and its assembly. Frankly, the instructions were very difficult to understand and I had to actually get a handyman to assemble the thing for me! Amazon states that the rack comes in two pieces--they couldn't be further from the truth. There are a gazillion small screws connecting things and the assembly can take some while. Moreover, even after it's fully assembled the top half and bottom half are connected--but not tightly. This creates the possibility of the top half of the rack leaning either forward or backward depending on the distribution of weight on each shelf. In addition, please be careful not to overload a shelf--it can cause the shelf to bend downward because of the weight on it and then it looks pretty ugly. Even after you cover up that shelf with media, the media themselves are not even because the bent shelf on which they rest is uneven. Sigh.
In short, this is a good rack as long as you are great with mediocre instructions that can be rather cryptic at times. It reliably holds a great deal of media but as I mentioned above it cannot be manhandled--use care when moving this rack! Once you do get past the instructions, however, I would highly recommend this media storage rack by Atlantic for anyone with larger media collections.

This is a very nice looking cabinet. It's a little pricy but it looks very nice. One reviewer stated the top magents interfered with DVD storage, I have not had this problem. I think it holds roughly 25 DVDs per shelf.
Assembly is very easy. The instructions state the crossbar in the middle is optional but that it adds stability if installed. If you do install it then you will lose considerable dvd storage space on the middle shelf. You will only be able to store DVDs or CDs sideways. If you don't intend on moving the cabinet very much once assembled then you probably won't need the crossbar. If you rearrange often then you should use it as it would be pretty wobbly without it. It does give you a screw to secure it to a wall so if you intend on doing that then I would definitely not use the crossbar, it would just take up unnecessary room.
And don't think you can just remove the bar after install if it doesn't work for you. You have to disassemble the whole thing to take it out.
Overall, I'm happy with it for its size. I could personally use a larger cabinet but couldn't find anything else reasonably priced that looked as nice as this one.

I bought this cabinet and I'm somewhat dissatisfied.
The assembly is not complicated, it uses bolts with cam locks.
PRO's: Finish, color, enclosed to keep dust out.
CON's: poor door hinge design; it's too small and spacing for DVD's is very restrictive.
The doors do not close evenly and make contact with the shelving.
DVD space is lost because of the top door magnets.
Summary: nice looks but lack of spacing between DVD/shelves and doors causes problems with proper clsosing. Everything is very tightly packed.

An Awful, Cheaply Made Product. Avoid........2007-12-02
I bought an Atlantic 390 CD/DVD Executive Hard Case back at the beginning of the year to make moving my extensive DVD collection easier. While this product does its suggested job - holding DVDs/CDs in hanging sleeves - there are many drawbacks to these cases, and the end result is a product that should be avoided.
My first complaint came minutes after purchasing the product. While this case will hold nearly 400 discs, it only comes with 25 sleeves - enough to hold only 50 discs. You have to go online to Atlantic's poorly designed website to order more sleeves. While these are free of charge, you have to pay shipping and handling. If you choose the lowest priced option, nearly $8.00, you will need to wait 6-8 weeks before you can start filling your case. For people looking for an immediate answer to a growing collection, this is not feasible or warranted. In fact, this is such a hassle, it is alone worth making the decision not to purchase this product.
Another complaint I have with these cases is the overall poor quality of the materials. While this case may look like it's made of industrial strength aluminum, it is merely reinforced cardboard with felt glued to the back. When I brought this case from Seattle to Washington, DC, the handles literally ripped off, pulling the cheap cardboard sides with them. The result was a massive hole in the side of my case and no way to hold it.
These cases are cheap and poorly made. The customer service at Atlantic is sub-par, and it is obvious they only care about making more money off you than you're willing to give them. You pay out of your ears to get enough sleeves in a timely manner to fill the case, only to have them fall apart months later. Please, please, please avoid this product and find something stable and well-made.
Just What I needed.......2007-11-05
I was in need of a Cd holder that held a good amount of cd's,was attractive and fairly sturdy (With a basic lock to scare away casual thieves). I found all my criteria to be met and then some with this Cd case . I was very happy with it when it arrived . I quickly loaded in some of my Cd-roms and Put it on the desk in my studio knowing they would be safe If I had to step away for a moment in a studio session . The Case is well made attractive and at an unbelievable Price. At a Well known Chain that usually has the best prices (Rhymes with tallmart) The smaller version of this case was at the same price and it held a lot less Cd's (more than 1/3 less). What can I say this case is great . If I needed another one I would buy another in a heartbeat. Amazon shipped it so fast I couldn't believe it . You guys are great.

I like it fine, except they should put a handle on the top of it so you don't have to grab the handles on both ends to carry it. Otherwise its pefectly ok to me.

The case says it holds 400, but only 50 hanging sleeves are provided. A card comes with it saying you can go online to order the rest you just have to pay shipping and handling, but when you get to checkout, the site is not secure because it has a bad certificate! Beware of their website.
Great for the Price.......2007-03-23
This is a very good (not great) case for storing your CDs with jewel cases. It only holds 57 store bought CDs and it is a bad fit in the corners for that extra CD that you what to stuff in. It is EXCELLENT for CDs that you burned that do not have store bought cover art and jewel cases. It will hold hundreds this way. It is not as solid as it looks in the picture, but it looks like it will take a fairly good hit and still protect your CDs and it is fairly light weight. All in all it is a great product for the price.
