Dymo DiscPainter Rocks.......2007-12-26
I have it,I love it.All the other reviews have covered this
product very well. So,is it pricey at $279.00? Well, compared
to MicroBoard or Primera dedicated disc printer's($600+ to $1000.00+),
not so much. But if the price for this one trick pony is too much,
and you do not mind a tray, lineing up arrows and such. Get an Epson,
HP(or a Cannon for the folk's outside the USA),some Taiyo Yuden Water
shield disc's and Magic Mouse Discus labeling software(the version in
DiscPainter is dedicated to the printer),the full stand alone version
work's on all printer's.You will have disc's just as nice if not better.:)
Love IT !!!.......2007-12-24
I bought this printer for my school projects and my aspiring art career. It has been my best purchase yet. I am alble to put all my drawings and pictures on the disc for future clients or professors and i could put one of my drawings as a cover as an example of my talent and skill. This is a professional product and perfest for anyone. Its less than 300 bucks and a great product.
smartshopper.......2007-12-23
I have been using my new DiscPainter for close to a month now. It has been exciting creating beautiful CD/DVD covers without having to first digest a complex instruction manual. I found it exceptionally easy to navigate the software as there are no confusing configurations to work out as was the case with my old disc labeling software. Everything was spelled out in simple laymen's terms and was intuitively understandable.
I also liked the fact that everything functioned flawlessly on the DiscPainter. This is a well engineered and well constructed disc label printer. There are no gimmicky afterthought add-ons like feed trays or sticker seating devices. Just put a blank silver or white printable disc in the cradle and the DiscPainter does the rest (well almost, I still like to make the creative decisions). Within a minute, my disc is covered with a clear, color label that really adds to the disc's wow factor.
My work space is rather limited so I appreciate the DiscPainter's small size. It takes up slightly more space than two discs placed flat side by side forming the number "8". The higher back end is slightly more than the height of a disc placed on its edge. Smaller is better on a workspace where real estate is at a premium.
I truly enjoy using my DiscPainter. Dymo has taken a task that has always been fraught with frustration and disappointing results and turned it into an easy task replete with satisfaction. I give it an unreserved five stars.
A GREAT Printer.......2007-12-23
This is absolutely the greatest. I usually don't write reviews but this is too exciting not to comment on. I ordered this on Thursday, received it on Saturday. It took maybe 10 minutes to set up... very easy. No problems and created the first two cds in the next 10 minutes. Flawless, great quality, fast. Goodbye sticky labels.... thanks Dymo AND Amazon!
DiscPainter is a hit at our Household.......2007-12-20
My DiscPainter has quickly become one of the most popular electronic tools in my household. I use it to label discs that contain family photos of various themes. Photos of our summer vacation to Cape Cod were labeled with a group photo of everyone gathered around a beach camp fire. Photos of our ski trip were labeled with an image of the top of the mountain at Vail. Both were complete with dates and family members present. I sent copies if these to friends and relatives worldwide.
My son uses our DiscPainter to make labels for his backed-up music CDs. He goes online and downloads and prints original album cover art onto the discs he has burned. These back-ups are then used in his car where damage and scratches to CDs are a common experience. When a disc becomes too scratched or otherwise unusable, he simply tosses it out and burns/labels a new one from the original disc kept safely at home.
My daughter writes and videotapes short plays and skits with her friends. They then put them on a DVD and label them with the DiscPainter. They chose either a dramatic photo or a comedic photo and added very professional looking text to their disc labels. The result is a very commercial looking movie DVD that they share with their friends. She is now talking about becoming a movie producer or director in the future.
My husband has recorded many sporting and extra curricular events that the kids have participated in over the years and used the DiscPainter to create truly impressive looking labels for these discs. Although they are "just" school events, the DiscPainter makes these events look like the Super Bowl or Television shows. The DiscPainter has opened a fun new world of creativity for all of us!

Customer Reviews:
Horrible software--especially for international addresses.......2007-12-16
From a hardware perspective, this label printer is great.
The software, however, is horrible (0 stars would be too much).
If you print a foreign address label from Outlook, which should look like this
Jim Doe
Foreign street 1
1234 AB SomewhereInHolland
Netherlands
P-touch will format this as
Jim Doe
Foreign street 1
SomewhereInHolland, 1234 AB
No country name; and ignores the proper placement of the zip code.
This should be so easy to program properly--Outook has a propery MailingAdress which takes care of the proper formatting of international addresses.
Small Footprint, Fast & Reliable, Great Price.......2007-11-11
This is one of the best purchases of hardware I have ever made. This label printer takes up little room on the desk. Its fast and responsive. I have owned it for over six months and not a single problem. The software that comes with it does more than I will ever need. The labels it uses are tough and wont smear or wash out. I cant say enough good things about the Brother P-Touch 500
Good for simple jobs, runs into trouble, esp. on mac.......2007-10-12
Indeed the printer is fast and output is pleasing enough. HOWEVER, I discovered that Mac compatibility is limited (which is implied between the lines here at Amazon, but not at Staples, from which my office buys): it won't print from Word or from my database (FileMaker Pro), or anything else besides its own P-Touch Editor, which suffers from many limitations (some of which may exist on the PC, but at least the PC version is in the 4.x range, rather than the 3.x on Mac).
Mac software limitations: (1) long text doesn't wrap (resizing a text-box just distorts the text like an image); (2) Editor doesn't handle multi-line fields in an imported database for merging (2.5) Returns can be manually added, but only to a field that is not from a merge-database; (3) Text-box resizes with every record/every paste based on length of text, and simply runs out past the margin if text is long; (4) Style info like italics is lost on paste; (4) Software interface is nonstandard -- blinking cursor takes typing, but can't take a paste; double-click doesn't select a word, but rather the whole field; cancel always requires a mouse, not the escape key; adding bold or italics requires using a palette icon button rather than keyboard shortcuts, etc...
So, if you're wanting to sit down and type a quick label, it's fine. But if that's what I wanted, I'd just use a permanent marker pen. I want to print from pre-existing data including some long fields and italics, and I wrestled for hours with this software, and their *byzantine* tech support, before confirming that it can't do all of what I need, and what it can do is cumbersome because it involves lots of mousing around for each label in my database.
Works great! Very handy. .......2007-09-19
I love this label printer! It does address labels, and labels for everything, fast and high quality. The software it comes with is really cool and easy to use. I use it now for all my mailing (with bar codes) and to label everthing that needs labeling.
3rd Time's a Charm! Love this little baby........2007-07-14
This is my third brand of personal label printers and I have finally struck pay dirt. The first one was a Dymo and it's software crashed my computer horribly. Boxed it up and got rid of it. Next up was a Avery Personal Label Printer. What a sorry excuse for a printer that was. Every time you turn it on, it feeds a blank label (marketing scam to sell more labels?). That little thing had a mind of it's own. I put up with it for months until I just couldn't take it's random behavior of feeding blank labels between printed ones and sometimes just going into a strange feed-label mode that wouldn't stop. I'm not even trying to sell it - just throwing it away.
Now comes the Brother QL-500. It set up very easily and printed out it's first test label no problemo. Then I used it in a rather obscure database-contact management program I use and with virtually no setup it puts out the label correctly. One label, done right. Thank you Brother. (I also have a low end Brother laser printer that I love and a high end Brother fax, so I guess I am slowly becoming a Brother person.) Buy the QL-500 and save yourself the anguish the others are sure to cause.

Customer Reviews:
Very Useful Product.......2007-09-18
I purchased a Brother QL500 Thermal Printer recently, and decided to pick up some of these DVD/CD labels since I burn a lot of CDs from my Itunes library. The QL500 works very well, does not need print cartridges, and has proven very useful for a wide variety of purposes. I no longer have to worry about figuring out just what is on which CD, or having to use up a whole print page using my inkjet printer to make a CD label. I just keep the QL500 at the ready with a DVD/CD Label Roll loaded into it, then print out a label as I burn each CD.
The only drawback I can think of for this product is the fact that the labels only cover the inner portion of the DVD/CD (not full coverage). One needs to use large font to clearly see the information. These are small quibbles overall; this is a very handy product.
Thumbs UP!.......2007-01-16
Brother DK-1207 CD/DVD Label Roll works perfectly as expected. I joined Amazon Prime & the shipping time was amazing.

Great dvd especially for archives........2005-10-31
This is a high quality dvd. It is made in Japan which is better. It has a dark blue dye which is the longest lasting dye along with clear dye. I've been using these for a while, and I have not yet had any problems. It is durable.

Easiest To Work With.......2006-04-22
I have tried several brands of CD and DVD Labels - Memorex, Avery, etc., and the Fellowes labels are by far the best in terms of quality and ease of use. These labels don't curl up and make it difficult to apply to a CD or DVD, and they hold a print pretty well over time.
I particularly found the Avery labels horrible to work with - they had seams in the label from manufactured cuts in the backing that 1) made them hard to peel from the backing, and 2) left the prints on the labels with visible lines running through the print.
Fellowes Neato Matte 300-Count is "Neat-O".......2006-02-24
I was burning up alot of time and gas buying the 100-count of Fellowes Neato Matte CD/DVD Labels when I learned about the 300-count package size. What a big savings on the 300-count, I saved 40% and no more running around. The only thing better is the 500-count.
great labels-great price.......2005-10-08
They look great at normal print setting. No smearing. Have only had them bubble under VERY hot conditions. Great deal. Just remember to store them flat or the edges will be curled up by the time you go thru all 300 of them.
Dissatisfied with Label Alignment.......2005-09-29
My husband and I have our own home video business and therefore use these DVD labels on a regular basis. We noticed in the last month or two that Our granphics were not lining up. At first we thought we might need to recalibrate our printer, which we did...put still the images were the same...strange thing..the first label would line up just about right but the second one was way off...
It then dawned on us that we were also having problems printing labels when we used our other station...our laptop. It become obvious to us that it wasnt our printer, but the labels themselves. Needless to say we were very dissatisfied with this product.
Fellowes Neato Matte CD/DVD Labels review.......2005-09-08
Product is cheaper quality than it used to be. It is harder to put labels on CDs than it used to be.

Customer Reviews:
Quality Good Looking Long-Lasting CD Labels.......2007-03-19
Neato makes the best CD/DVD labels on the market. This product is their best label in that it prints glossy photo-quality labels that look sharp, have brilliant color properties, and are long-lasting. The software that you need to print these labels is included in the kit.
Neato also makes Matte finish CD labels, but these do not have the visual appeal of the glossy photo finish labels. If you want the best looking CD label, this is the product to buy. If you don't require the best quality visuals, then matte finish will suffice.

The Best...........2007-01-01
These labels are wonderful. Not only do they go on smoothly, but they have passed the South Florida sun test with absolutly no fade. If you have ever used Memorex labels, these will really blow your socks off!
Another plus of Neato lables are the templates they provide for major graphics software like Adobe and Corel. You can really customize them for a very professional look far beyond what you can with those programs that come with other labels.
I print mine with a Canon i9900 ink jet set to Glossy Photo Paper and Best settings.

Customer Reviews:
Easy to replace - I'll stick with black!.......2006-02-20
This was my first replacement ribbon for the Primera Signature-Z thermal disk printer. While a bit taken aback at the cost of these things - I found the removal of the original ribbon cartridge and the replacement with the new one to be rather straight-foreward and easy.
While available in several other colors, the printer, itself, only can use one at a time - so, to print multi-colors on disks, one would have to remove and replace cartridges mid-process. A nuisance at least - a reminder of the relative (over?) simplicity of the printer design itself. In any event, the black looks fine on all my projects - although, as I pointed out in my review of the printer itself, the print does not adhere flawlessly to any area on the disk that is embossed. On my existing supply of name-brand embossed disks, I have had to experiment with exact placement of the print to avoid the embossed areas. Since using this printer more regularly, however, I have taken to buying plain, non-embossed white thermal printable CDr_Rs and DVD-Rs.
The print result on these,I am pleased to say, is PERFECT!
