I only used it once or twice to clean disks before it shorted out and broke. Too bad I used the device so infrequently that it was passed any hope of RMA by the time I found out it won't power on.

I was so disappointed in this gadget. We had a lot of DVD's that had gotten pretty hard use from our two toddlers. The kit did buff out some of the scratches, and cleaned the discs, but did not buff out all. (It didn't buff out teeth marks, either, but maybe that's expectign too much?) Anyway, it failed the ultimate test - movies that were problematic before still skip and/or stall. The repair discs are basically ultra-fine grit sand paper, and only lasted about 3 discs before getting completely stripped. I think the movies I used a fresh disc on did come out improved, but by the time you buy the gadget and the accessories, you might as well just buy a new $10 movie....Don't waste your money!

I love playing my Xbox 360, but the model I have likes to make these light circular scratches in my game discs, making it so you can't load certain portions of a game. (By the way, the "standard" response to this is that the scratches come from moving the 360 console while the disc is spinning--I have NEVER once done this--my unit has been in a permanent and stable horizontal position and yet several of my games have received these scratches--my unit is out of warranty though).
When my beloved Bioshock game got scratched and refused to load a specific level, I finally couldn't take it any more. I ordered this product out of desperation to try and get the disc working. I put the game through just one 3 minute repair cycle and popped it back into the 360 to test. To my absolute joy, it loaded up perfectly!!! I do not see the scratches on the disc, they appear to have been perfectly filled by a couple drops of the repair solution and the buffing process. I am so happy to have this thing, it basically means I don't have to buy a new 360 or replace super-expensive games!
The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because the instruction manual is mediocre and irritated me a couple times. But this is a very minor complaint--the unit did what I prayed it would even easier than I thought possible. So happy!

Briefly....this thing works great! I have had mine for 3 years now and it has cleaned and repaired hundreds of discs.The real test was repairing the Playstation games my Grandkids brought over...they were scratched terribly! Some took 2 or 3 cycles, but ALL were brought to working condition.
Tip: If you have a real bad disc, use the little wheel that you can do by hand to polish first, then use the machine.

I've been able to fix fine scratches off cds and dvds, but not always. The cleaning solution and cloth are quite good. Bear in mind that nothing will fix deep scratches, it doesn't matter how much it costs.

My batteries weren't new so the wheel turned rather slowly, but, a PlayStation game that my grandkids were not able to use for 2 years is now working. As the manual said, you may need to put it through more than once. It took running the game through the Game Dr. twice and then all worked well. I too had my doubts when I saw what this device was made of but since it worked I guess that really doesn't matter. It did leave ridges on the disk? Could be because the wheel turned so slowly. The instructions really don't go into what to expect as far as speed and outcome so I'm not sure if this is normal.

I purchased the "Skip DR" in hopes of repairing my daughter's scratched DVD's. Too bad I'll never know if this product works. The first one I bought, malfunctioned. Somehow, after putting in 6 NEW batteries, the wheel was turning rather slow. Little did I realize my batteries exploded. I returned the product and exchanged it (Giving it the benefit of the doubt). The second one was no better. Another 6 new batteries and the wheel barely turned halfway before ejecting my disc and turning off. Boy do I wish I read the previous review before buying this. I will be returning this yet again, and I think I'll stick to manual.

Mine arrived dead on arrival. i put the batteries in and nothing happened. overall, it seemed very cheap and flimsy. it doesn't come with a power cord to plug into the wall. instead, you need to put 6 AA batteries in it. If you want the power cord it costs extra and you have to send away for it + shipping. I can't say whether it fixes scratches well. Hopefully you will have better luck than me.

I love this product! It fixed one of my collection disc that I was going to through away.
I read some of the review complained that this machine is not taking away the scratches. I noticed on the box indicated that it "stores" the disc back to it's original performing status not actually remove the scratches. What do you espect for $29.99?? I can tell you I got my $$$ worth by fixing that disc I was going to through away.

There is no order form included for when I need replacement parts. The unit itself works great. You must make sure the wheels are tightly screwed into place. When repairing a CD be sure to use a generous amount of repair fluid. Overall..I am happy with the unit.

How many times can I repair a disc?
This depends on how deep the scratches are. A disc has a polycarbonate layer 1200 microns thick. A light scratch is typically 5-10 microns deep. The DVD/CD Disc Repair CG will buff down the polycarbonate layer to remove the scratch. So you can see a disc can be repaired many times.
What kind of damage to my disc will cause it not to be repaired?
If the disc is warped, cracked, or has damage to the label side of the disc it cannot be repaired.

Normally, I would give this 4 Stars because of the poor documentation but I just saved $120 yesterday by repairing a small pile of DVD's.
One of the twins likes his Ghibli DVD's so much he took them out of the package and ground them in the floor. All of them. We also had a pile of DVD's that would not play after a certain point. Another DVD with light scratches totally ruined by the Memorex OptiFix I purchased.
Rather than buying a new Ghibli set, I purchased this. It really works. You may go through the course and fine polishing discs and compounds but that is much cheaper than buying replacement DVD's.
This machine allows us the time to teach proper DVD handling techniques to the boys.

The product works as advertised and is, in my opinion, well worth the money. The first CD I fixed went from skipping literally every track to playing through flawlessly. The Cds repaired were pretty heavily damaged with relatively deep and numerous scratches. The machine is simple to use and seems to be well constructed. It only takes a few damaged CDs DvDs or games to equall the cost of the machine so i highly recomend skipping the cheaper repair kits for this product, especially if you loan discs to friends or partake in mail rental services.

This has been wonderful. Having 4 children, our DVD and CD's take a beating... I can't tell you how many I have thrown away before we tried out this GREAT machine! It really does a great job, and saves ME LOTS of money on replacing movies!
After using a cheap hand cranked version, and having the DVD's come out foggy and not working still. I am totally amazed how mirror shinny and great the DVD's look after using the DVD repair machine.

All prior repair kits I've used just made the CD much worse (such as the Memorex OptiFix, which RUINS CDs instead of fixing them) or marginally better (Disk Doctor). The Disk Doctor at least repaired the CD correctly but made it look butchered; good luck selling one, it would look like you took sandpaper to it.
This one, however, both removes all reasonable scratches (if it's too deep, sorry, there's nothing in existence that will remove it) AND makes the CD look brand new. It is a long process, not a 20 second "stick it in and forget about it" procedure, but the end results are incredible. You have to work for it, maybe half an hour on a horribly scratchy disk, but this thing will work miracles!!!

I just got mine in the mail yesterday and immediately tried it out on a used Xbox 360 game that I bought last week. It had become unreadable near the end of the game (much to my frustration) due to a significant scratch on the outer perimeter of the disc. I had to use the fine sand paper pads to buff the scratch out because it was so deep. Of course, this left a significant scuff on the disc. I then ran it through a couple of cycles of each cream/polishing solution from most coarse to fine. The result was outstanding! It looks nearly new and had no trouble loading the section of the disc that was previously unreadable. Now all my friends want me to fix their cds for them. I don't know if it will pay for itself but it is so convenient that I don't really care either way. The bottom line is that this is a great machine for a fair price.

When the CD drive on my Toshiba laptop refused to write to CD's I was convinced I was in for a big bill. Then I decided to try the Allsop CD laser-lens cleaner. It cured my problem in less than 5 minutes. So, if the problems you are experiencing are the result of dirt or dust this is a simple and effective solution. But, don't expect it to cure mechanical or other problems. If your CD drive is giving you problems, this is worth a try. If it doesn't work you are not out much and you know the problem isn't dirt on the lens. My only complaint is that it is not clear when it is through cleaning, so I cleaned the lens 3 times before I was convinced it was done.

We have a CD player that was not working. I thought cleaning the lens might get it working again. Using this product did not solve my problem, but I cannot say if it did clean the lens or not because the CD player is still not working. The problem could be something else and the CD player now has a clean lens.
