Wireless router connection.......2007-11-29
I am extremely pleased with this connector.
I have a children's computer that is now able to connect to the Internet because of this connector.
With all the Children's games on the Internet, it keeps the kids busy.
Always Losing Network; Flimsy.......2007-10-01
This TRENDnet wireless usb adapter is terrible. I just got a linksys wusb54g today. This 'TRENDnet' is flimsy. You can actually bend the USB plug, and sometimes the plastic case comes loose. It is always dropping the connection, it looks cheesy, and the blinking light is annoying.
works ok but stops abruptly.......2007-09-13
works ok but stops abruptly and then needs disconnection and reconnection for restarting the application. gives a good speed. comes with a small extension cable.
TrendNet Adapter.......2007-08-11
Seems to work well so far...extends the range of wifi to my laptop. The adapter is larger than the pictures. It seems rather fragile, that it would bend or be damaged if the laptop is not on a flat surface.
keeps loosing the network.......2007-04-18
i bought this to use in my newly upgraded desktop with windows vista. it CONTINUALLY drops the wireless signal (at least every hour) - when you click to connect to a network it does not find any networks. pulling it out and pushing it back in seems to recover the network almost every time, but this is really annoying to have to do repeatedly. it is not a signal strength issue in general, as another desktop in the same room and two laptops that frequent the room have no trouble getting good signals.

Product Description
The DWL-AG132 Wireless USB Adapter is a Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter that adds high-performance 802.11a/g wireless connectivity to your desktop or notebook PC via the convenience of USB. Avoid the hassle of stringing Ethernet cables to your computer or dismantling your desktop PC case to insert a wireless adapter. Simply plug in the DWL-AG132 into an available USB 2.0 port and enjoy the freedom of wireless networking. The DWL-AG132 is designed to connect out of the box with other AirPremier AG products making this USB adapter a plug and play solution. The site survey configuration utility discovers available nearby wireless networks to get you connected quickly. This utility can create detailed connectivity profiles to save and manage your most frequently accessed networks. For accessing secure networks, this Wireless USB Adapter supports both WPA-Personal and WPA-Enterprise. Now you can utilize EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS and PEAP for secure user authentication through an 802.1x RADIUS server. Data over the air is encrypted using either TKIP or AES. It can be used in peer-to-peer mode (ad-hoc) to directly connect to other 802.11a or 802.11b/g wirelessly enabled computers for direct file sharing, or in client mode (infrastructure) to connect with wireless access points or routers.
Customer Reviews:
Dlink loves to consistently crash (blue screens!).......2007-01-12
My Windows XP system was running very stable and fast. Ever since I installed this 802.11 adapter, I'm getting blue screens consistently when I'm doing heavy internet activity. If I just leave the machine up with the connection up but NOT using the connection, it blue screens rarely.
What is worse, its somehow even crashing my machine when I connect other USB devices ( I disconnect the devices properly, telling windows to eject them). This never happened before installing this adapter.
Considering how stable my machine used to be (3-4 months avg up time before I'd restart it), it's pathetic that it now blue screens every couple of hours. They haven't addressed this issue - their driver on the website is the same it's been for 2-3 years.
I've tried a fresh install twice already and am now looking for a better product from some other manufacturer!
Bottomline: DON'T BUY this if you value the stability of your system.
PS: I wish there was a 0 star rating. This doesn't deserve even 1 star.
Does not handle hibernate/stand by modes. Gives Blue screen crashes on Windows XP.......2006-08-10
I have been using it on a desktop (XP Media center 2005) fir a year now.
The adapter's driver is problematic. Whenever I resume from hibernate or standby, the driver crashed my computer. Talked to tech support and they could not help me at all. (I had followed all the directions specified in the manual for its installation).
So I currently don't hibernate my PC :(
Works well on a freshly restarted machine though...
Unless they have an updated driver, I would not recommend buying this. (I am using the driver it shiped with and have not seen any updates to it on dlink's web site)
blue screen of death on usb equipment ...........2006-03-14
when usb card or device uses more electricity ten the usb
port can offer (usually 500ma) it goes to blue screen
especially on laptops...and on small pc s.
the reason i think is with in the 108 acceleraton argorythm
that could suck up more than usb port can give , hence error occurs.
so if you dont want your pc/laptop to go blue ,
dont use the super-G mode.
i think 5ghz router users must have a backup adapter like this
at hand.
Performance is OK but could be better.......2006-01-22
I have seen the "Blue Screen of Death" a few times, but it is not something that happens all of the time. I can't complain too much about the product considering I picked it up at Fry's Electronics for $19 after a mail in rebate. I needed a USB adapter because the PCMIA card interface went bad.
Pros:::
(....)
*The extension cable is a nice add-on. Even if you don't need it for the AG132 it fits other USB devices as well. The AG132 is a little more bulky than most other USB devices so it can get a little crowded near your USB ports. I did not see the performance gain from plugging the adapter into the extension cable. In fact, performance was slightly degraded. (which was a surprise)
*Can be switched between laptops and desktops
CONS:::
*Occasional Blue Screen of Death. (When this happens it tends to happen when the system is booting into XP)
*Occasional when the system comes out of standby you can't get a signal no matter how close you are to the access point. In order to get a signal you have to remove the card, wait a few seconds and plug it back in.
*Performance could be a little better.
Overall Recommendation:
If you can pick this up for a good price, then you will probably be satisfied. If you are looking for solid performance as your main focus, then you might want to look elsewhere.
I don't know why wireless manufacturers not putting external antenna adapters on wireless devices. If the AG132 had an external antenna adapter I would give it a higher rating.
If you are looking for performance geek, then check out the Buffalo family of wireless cards.
If you are looking for something to connect a home or at the local coffee shop, can deal with some minor issues from time to time, and can pick this adapter up for a good price, then I say go ahead.
If on the other hand you want the best performance 100% of the time, or if you have to pay full price for this adapter, I would look for another manufacturer

Crashes my PC.......2005-10-26
I'd like to report the same problem as the people above - this adapter works great *when* it works, but it crashes my PC at least once per day. I've spent an hour+ on the phone with technical support, and so far nothing has helped. For the record, I'm running XP Media Center Edition with SP2.

Yes, and no.......2007-05-12
Neither the D-Link website nor Amazon mention that this is not Vista compatible (or at leat they didn't when I bought it); I found out when I called the D-Link help line. Since I had bought this to create a network with a new computer, that poses a bit of a problem. However, the product does work well with an XP computer, although it occasionally disappears from the desktop and the software doesn't open; later, it mysteriously reappears. This, of course, could be the computer or the Netgear router, not the adapter. Consistently has a 108 Mbps signal.
Some problems.......2007-04-06
I am not sure if it was the router or this wireless device (both D-Link) but I had a lot of network problems getting this to work. I had more success on the road, so my guess is it was the D-Link router, but still the signal strength was always a problem. The one nice feature is its was easy to carry. I used the USB extension that came with it for easy connection. Still, I cannot call this a great product. Just ok.
Not even connect to DI-624........2007-03-09
I bought this to connect my desktop computer to my DI-624 at 108Mbps.
I installed properly and device is working properly.
Network signal is very strong. The network is not encrpted. It is fully open.
BUT DWL-G132 does not connect to the DI-624 router. No error message..
Don't waste your money.......2007-02-11
This adapter has driver problems. I downloaded all the recommended software. It still does not work right. I went to the Dlink support site, no help.
It will not let my computer shut down correctly in hibernation or standby mode. In hibernation, it just keeps running the computer and will not shut down. In standby, when I bring it back up it says I ejected the hardware incorrectly.
Please, please don't waste your money. Buy something that works. I have used Netgear with great success, never has these kind of problems. I wish I stuck with them.
Works great!.......2007-01-11
I am using it for the last 3 months. And have no problem with it. I didnot connect the USB directly to the computer. I used the cradle and have no problems with it so far. Worth the money spent.

Netgear has no WinXP x64 support.......2005-09-20
I have entirely all Netgear equipment in my home network (routers, hubs, wireless router, wireless cards). I try to stick with the same brand for best compatibility. Despite the sometimes common firmware "quirks" of routers restarting, etc. I've stuck it out with Netgear.
Despite some Linksys products that may be less "buggy", I've stayed away from majority of Linksys products based purely on physical design. Most Linksys products are like the ugly giant-sized block legos you used to hate getting as a kid instead of "real" Lego.
So when I needed a USB wireless adapter, I quickly bought Netgear without hesitation... only to discover Netgear doesn't and will probably not ever have suppport for Windows XP x64 edition.
After some googling, I discovered that Ralink RT2500 based wireless adapters have FULL O/S support across the board (Windows 98/2000/XP/2003/64-bit, Linux, Mac OS X).
Disappointed at Netgear since their products are NOT cheap especially in their 1st year and even after that it's only OK with a [...].
Returned the WG111U and bought the ASUS WL-167g (RT2500 based) instead. The Netgear WG111U is way too FAT for what you think it should be. The ASUS is slim like a 4-pack of stick gum. ASUS just works, looks good and best of all it's more than half the price without any [...].
Netgear 108MBPS WRLS WG111UNA.......2005-08-19
Works fine. Had a little trouble setting it up and had to use the protocol from Windows XP. Would recommend it.
Software may mess up your computer.......2005-08-04
I installed this device and it's accompanying cd software according to the included instructions, and it totally messed up my computer (running Windows XP). The software seems to be severely flawed because it first eats up all of my CPU usage (suddenly in task manager it says "System" is using 99%), then it messed up my Windows XP SP2 firewall, and then it disabled my Norton Antivirus. If this software wasn't from Netgear I would have thought it was a computer virus! Oh, and the wireless usb adapter doesn't work, of course. I had to switch back to my wired networking.
The only reason I am giving it two stars instead of one is because it seems to work fine with another computer in my house. Go figure. Netgear's support and website aren't useful either.

Customer Reviews:
Inexpensive wieless adapter.......2007-10-04
It was a bit difficult to install but following a manual exactly did the job. After the initial installation it worked fine. I have installed this adapter on Dell Windows Me.
Pleased.......2007-08-10
I bought the adapter for an 8 year old laptop that was given to me. I'm running Windows 2000 and I would have to say it wasn't as straight forward as I thought to get the adapter to work. But, I was able to ask a friend who works with computers to take a look at it and he had it working in about 15 minutes. Since then, I have used it in doing simple functions and playing some network games. It has worked beautifully for me and I would recommend it to anyone as of this point. I will edit my review if anything changes, but for now, you can't beat the price for the specs. The shipping was way faster than I ever thought it would be. I might buy another one for my desktop because it's so inexpensive.
Update: After I left this rating, I had issues with the adapter. The second time I tried to use the adapter on a new network, it would not work. I had a computer tech look at it and still didn't respond. I took a look at it a day later and tried the same things the tech tried and it then worked. We'll see if this happens again the next time I try a new network.
Happily relieved .......2007-07-28
I had previously owned a D-link 54 Mbps usb wireless-G network adapter which worked well but was fairly fragile and kept breaking every time it was bumped. I soldered it back together but after about 10 times it stopped working. I was looking for a cheep, quick replacement, being a poor PhD student. This is the replacement. It is produced by a little known company named LEVELONE. I was skeptical... I couldn't find any user ratings on it, but under $20 for a 108 Mbps usb network super G adapter sounded like a steal. I gave it a shot. I use it to pick up an open access network from the Car dealership across the street and it works GREAT! It was easy to install but there might be a red flag for XP and Vista users. During the installation of the supporting software this warning pops up "The software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP." The computer I use the adapter on has Windows XP and after 2 weeks of use I have had absolutely NO problems. So there doesn't seem to be any issues with XP at least. The range and speeds are noticeably better with this LEVELONE adapter compared to the D-Link I used before. It also seems to be more durable but only time will tell. I was worried about it getting really Hot and shutting down or at least hiccuping. I even tried downloading multiple files in concession to heat it up but it is dissipating the heat very well. I am very satisfied with this purchase. I was worried I would get an untested, over hyped piece of garbage but I am happily relieved. It's a steal for under $20.
