Horrible waste of time, money.......2007-12-28
I bought this in hopes that I could cheaply and easily show videos from my iPod via my classroom TV. While the cable is CHEAP, the connection (both video and audio) is HORRID. I regret the purchase IMMENSELY and haven't even been successful in GIVING it away to a student! It's NOT worth paying for shipping at the price of shipping considering what I paid for it.

This product works with old ver. of iPod. I just bought a new one 160GB, this cable never works. I had to buy the dock connector original cost 50$ to get video out.

I purchased this thinking it would be a cheaper version of Apples cables and still get to watch my photo slide show on the TV. NOT, this WILL NOT allow for that, it is only an audio cable.
If your just purchasing this item for audio, then its great for that, otherwise it will not work with the new generation IPODs, they have propriatary licence on the technology for it to work.

Since the 1.1.1 release, iPhone now has video out - however, it does NOT work with this adapter. I think you have to buy the Apple component or composite cable.
Not compatable with 3g Nano.......2007-12-17
The quality of the cable itself is fine however I bought this cable because it listed as working with the Nano. After receiving it and was unable to get the Video to work. I called apple and they stated that this cable will not work with the 3G Nano's that I have. I wish the product had a more specific list to what it will and will not work with. I was going out of town and didn't have time now to order online again so I stopped at a Apple store and bought there cable for $50 and it works fine. Now I'm back home past the 30 day return policy and have a useless cable here.

Good quality cable for hooking up a video ipod - I'm very pleased with it. Note that a converter cable is included so that you can hook up to standard RCA video inputs instead of S-video if you need to.

Not sure if it's nice or not. Having trouble outputting video from the Ipod Classic. Heard an array of issues stemming from accessories needing an apple compatible chip to the player software itself causing the issue. The cable looks nice - and I think Monster has nice products, just that they are over price for what they are. So this review probably isn't much help, but thought you ought to make sure what version you have a do a little reading before you purchase.

Plugged my Ipod video for the first time to my TV yesterday - works great! I have an old TV with a coax connected to my even older VCR. Used the Monster ITV Link to connect the Ipod (via the dock connector) to a Line-in on the VCR. Used the supplied S-Video to Composite Video adapter, adjusted the Video Settings on the Ipod to TV Out - we have picture and sound on the TV! Depending on the quality of the video, the picture can be a little grainy - but I think that has more to do with the quality of the video than the cable. The ITV Link also has a mini USB port on it, so you can charge the Ipod while watching - avoid the Ipod from dying on you in the middle of a movie. So I have the ITV Link hooked to the USB Power Adapter via a USB to mini B cable.
There may seem to be a lot of cables and adapters involved - but it really isn't hard to hook-up. Just add these to the already growing mass of wires and cables behind your home entertainment center.

If you want to play audio and video from your ipod on the TV this does it. It is nothing special but it works as advertised. Just make sure that your video settings are set to TV out (found in the Video area, not general settings). One good thing about this that most likely separates it from a camcorder chord is that it is long enough (in most cases) to have it plugged in the TV and be sitting on the couch with the iPod.

Go with a regular camcorder cable. It works, just make sure you use the red connector with the video input. I didn't have access to one and thought the Griffin HomeConnect would work fine. But it doesn't work at all. I tested it on 4 different TVs. None were LCD or plasma though. I tried all different input combinations, made sure I had TV Out settings on, and I made sure the preferences on both Photos and Movies matched. No dice. Every time, only the audio came through. I finally had a chance to try with a regular camcorder cable and it worked on first try. So skip this product and avoid the disappointment.

I was trying to find an fm transmitter for my iPod video. I picked this up instead. I can play it though my audio/video hook up in the van in my car. My kids can either watch the videos I have on it or I can listen to the music on it while they watch a DVD. This way I don't have to worry about losing reception like all the fm transmitter reviews say. The sound quality like a CD which is more then fm transmitter reviews! Also I can hook up to my TV or stereo in the house to my iPod and watch/listen that way. This is also great for me because the audio/video hookup in my Honda Odyssey is in the third row so the nearly 10ft cable can reach me. I have the cable running under the floor mate and the iPod is sitting next to me!

This ipod charger worked fine but the parts seem very delicate. Whenever I have to change the adapter I'm always afraid that I'm going to break something. I would suggest using a higher quality american charger and simply using a foreign adapter.

After a couple of months of ownership, this item stopped working completely for my generation 5.5 iPod. It's just past the warranty, so I can't return it. Lucky me.

Very easy to install and use. Clean, simple design. The only improvement I can think of would be to make the cradle adjustable for various iPods without having to use inserts. It would be great if the manufacturer also offered a wireless version.
Very Nice Dock With Nice Price.......2006-05-14
I really like this dock, and I am recommending it to all my friends. It uses the same dock adapters that are comming with the newer ipods, so you dont have to worry about buying a new dock in the near future. Its way cheaper than Apple's official dock, and (almost) everything you need is in the box. With Apple's dock, you have to buy the dock, a remote, the cables, and that gets pretty expensive quick. The Xitel HiFi Link also has a little knob that controls the "Trubass". With high-end speakers, you dont really need this, unless you like a little extra bass (like me). But if you are using lower-end speakers, like computer speakers, the Trubass is amazing. Once I turned it up with computer speakers, the sound was immediately improved, and I have never heard sounds so rich on those speakers before.
There are two small problems that I personally dont mind, but there are probably people who will mind.
1) The dock doesnt come with a Video cable. I can see why, as the dock is universal, and not everyone has a Video iPod.
2) You cant connect your ipod to the computer. Not a problem at all for me, as I always just use the iPod's USB cable, and I have yet to hear a good reason to use a dock for syncing.

I bought this to replace a Belkin that would not interface with my car stereo well. This one from XtreamMac worked better. The video out is a nice touch but I will never use it as I don't have video in my car. The cable going up to the iPod is a nice heavy one. The black finish of the connector also complements the iPod but does scrach easily. I would have liked to have seen the same pause feature in this cable like Belkin had. The Belkin would send the iPod to pause when power was lost. Would recommend this to anyone who has trouble with using the Belkin.

Maintaining connection is tricky.......2007-09-12
I bought this unit when my other travel adapter would not maintain a connection. I still have the problem with this unit, though it is not quite so extreme. The tip will make a connection only when it is in precisely the proper position. I have to secure the cord under my Al PowerBook so it doesn't move, then rotate the tip and bend the cord until a connection is made--and watch for several seconds to be sure the connection is maintained. Without an indicator light on the tip, the only way I can be sure I still have a connection is by continually looking at the battery indicator on the menu bar. Many times I don't notice I have lost the connection until I get a low battery warning. Never a problem with the original Apple adapter. I use this adapter only because my setup makes it very inconvenient to take the Apple adapter with me.

I was a little surprised to see the negative reviews on this product. I bought mine after pricing other units and finding this one to be the lowest cost. Others questioned its reliability, so I was concerned about taking this on a camping trip. But switching between the car and ac adapter was easy and my partner & I ran both our iBooks and her iPod from the one adapter over a two week trip. It's been great. I use it all the time now.

This product is wonderful. The reason why some of the other people have had a hard time with this adapter is that the powertip system sticks out a bit from the back of the Mac. If you are not careful with how you handle your laptop with the power connected - it can easily break the tip or the power connector to your Mac. The stock power connector has a very small head and it is rounded. The Kensington smartip system has what I would call a very "normal" type of connector. The downside to this mobile power freedom - is that you have to watch how the plug is resting on whatever surface you happen to be computing on.
Otherwise - great device, power my mac anywhere and charge my ipod to boot! Comes with the three tips listed in the tech details.
The tips are not poorly made and do their job as designed - just watch the connector !!
Kills your battery.......2007-03-09
I was still getting over 3 hours per charge before I bought this charger as an extra to keep at my office. After a month of using it, my battery now only holds a charge for 30 minutes. I'd recommend just ordering a new charger from Apple. Hopefully Kensington will give me my money back so that I can immediately spend it on a new battery.

This was the only product I could find locally to replace the power adapter on my Mac when it suddenly went up in flames. I had this less than a month when the tip broke off inside my laptop. According to the local repair shop, my motherboard was destroyed and it will cost $1000 to repair. Even if it doesn't damage your laptop this isn't a good product - falls out frequently, isn't great at holding a connection. Buyer beware!!!!
