This Adapter was bought for my daughter's computer, because the first one broke. This one lasted about a month and malfunctioned, causing damage to my daughters computer. After repairs and replacement of adapter we wish we had researched this product better. It was a costly lesson.

Exact same power adapter as from the Mac Store, but much cheaper. I destroyed mine accidentally, and this one works exactly the same and arrived quickly, saving me the trouble of dealing with a dead battery and no computer. It's a great replacement.

this power cord is a replacement for EARLY powerbook G4s and ibooks (think G4 circa 2001... the dinosaurs).

if your power cord plugs in the back of your G4 this is (probably) the replacement you want (45 watt). however, if you have a newer model with a plug on the side of the computer you probably need the 65 watt. the cords look identical but they are actually different sizes and therefor not compatable.

The adapter arrived promptly and in good working order. I guess my real gripe is with Apple for manufacturing a poorly designed product and then not providing a fix for the poor saps that are stuck with it...this is our 3rd replacement....

Yes, this is the same power adapter as the original that was issued with the computer. And yes this is a very good price compared to apple BUT, Apple has now upgraded this adapter to be more safer and the cord is longer and it does not pull out of the wall like this one does. I have a IBook G4, and this cord did not last me for over 2 months because the cord kept pulling out of the computer and eventually it broke so after a visit to my local apple store I discovered that this power adapter has gotten tons of complaints about popping fire while trying to plug it in and the prongs breaking off in the computer etc. Try the new adapter, yes it is not on sale but it works alot better.

NOT for a powerbook G4.......2007-01-19

despite the description, this is NOT for a powerbook G4. my original adapter melted (frightening), and i thought i'd found a good replacement. however, the specs of the plug (that goes into the computer) on this particular adapter replacement are slightly different from an original adapter, and the adapter just doesn't work when plugged in (don't know if it's due to the ill-fitting plug or if they were all defective). i tried multiple ones of these adapters (happened to be able to physically go to the vendor's office) and none of them worked.

so instead, i ended up ordering a replacement from the apple store--i know i'm getting ripped off for an incredibly fragile piece of equipment, but at least i know it'll be the right one. there are lots of suggestions for alternate (non-apple) adapters, and once they make on with the indicator ring, i'll get it. but i really like the indicator ring and how compact the apple adapter is.

The one I received did not work.......2007-05-09

Original post (8 May 07). I ordered a PB G4 AC adapter for my Apple Powerbook G4. However, the adapter I received via not only did not work, but was marked for a 2400c computer, not a PB G4 [BOLD PRINT, as advertised]. Additionally, the adapter smells like it has been burned electrically. Purchase not recommended from this seller. ////UPDATE//// 31 May 07....seller still has not agreed to replace or refund money for faulty AND incorrect part.

Much better than default Apple adapter.......2007-03-30

Best thing about this adapter: it has the efficient, *normal* design which most other adapters have! As opposed to the default adapter that Apple laptops come with - the awkward square block that plugs directly into the outlet instead of allowing a second cable to run out of it and plug in. The default "block" adapter is the stupidest idea Apple ever came up with. You just can't plug in the block itself directly and expect it to work; it's heavy and doesn't balance well when plugged in horizontally, and when plugged in vertically it hangs awkwardly at an angle and loses connection altogether, if it doesn't fall flat on its... face. You have to fiddle with it to reach a balance point for it to connect. Sure, they give you a cable to connect in place of the prongs and extend to the outlet - nice try - but that cable has 3 prongs, which renders it useless for any 2-hole outlet. Also, the block-to-cable connection is weak and burns out quickly - that's an electrical fire just waiting to happen.

In contrast, THIS normal adapter finally gives you the right design - cable, block, cable, so that what you plug into the wall is a *cable* with 2 prongs that stays securely in place and plugs into any outlet. As it should.

Definitely worth the money. Default adapter might be unique and pretty in its design, sure, but when that encroaches upon efficiency and security, it is NOT worth it.

Been using it for 2 months and it works OK........2007-11-12

This product doesn't have the same excellent design of the name brand Mac power brick, but it gets the job done. At the time that I bought it, the Mac power cord was $80, so I didn't have high expectations for this generic, less expensive version, but it has been fine.

The tight fit mentioned by the other reviewers was no problem for me. I actually like it, since my battery is so dead that the slightest interruption in power will shut down my ibook. The firm connection prevents the cord from jiggling loose, but it isn't hard to unplug intentionally.

I did have one problem. The outer metal ring slid out of position once, when I was in a rush and yanked the plug out. I pushed it back into place and I haven't had a problem since. Still, that is why I give this 3 stars instead of 4.

Overall, considering the price, I'm completely satisfied with it.

This product is terrible I purchased it for my ibook as listed. When I got the adapter and tried to plug it in the connector was very, very tight. Tried to pull the plug off, the connector came apart. Trust me it's not worth the headache of ruining the ibook. Just by the original adapter and save around a 30.00 mistake.

Nothing Fancy...but it does the job!.......2007-08-22

This product is not the same as the original Apple Charger but is a simple low cost replacement. Apple no longer makes or sells the original equipment, and I can't see buying a replacement charger for $80 on a 5 year old laptop. The charger has a tight fit, but I guess will loosen up in time. It works, but you miss that orange and green indicator light that is found on the original Apple product.
I use this charger on a dual USB G3 800Mhz white 12in iBook.

It's worth the 20 bucks!!
