This is a great little product with an okay price. Although it may look flimsy, it definitely gets the job done. The body/casing of it would NOT hold up if it was up for rough use, but I wouldn't see a USB hub harshly used anyways... I like this product very much and would recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive item that does an awesome job.

A basic computer has only 2 USB ports. That's not enough when you add an external hard drive, a scanner, a camera cable, and more. Sabrent USB hub is compact, slim, and self-powered. An ideal gadget for the purpose.

i bought this product about a month ago and i'm yet to have any problems with it. it does exaclty what it was made to do, with as little fuss as possible. one good thing is that the ports all face different directions so its easy to plug in devices. however its fragile (i guess because its made almost of plastic) and can easily break, but at the price it comes at it shouldn't be too suprising. another slight draw back is the ports are too tight and it takes extra effort to plug in devices. despite these i think its a good product, functions well and is cheap.

A USB hub allows you to plug in more USB devices than you have USB ports for. On a notebook have a very few USB ports and they are close together so if you have numerous USB gadgets you will want a good hub.
Most USB hubs share a common flaw. They don't give you enough ports. If I buy a two port hub I use one port on the computer to plug in the hub. (Ports -1). I then plug two devices into the hub (Ports +2). The net gain is ONE PORT. I want at least four on a hub to make it seem worthwhile.
Now you are going to say "what about the four port hubs". They usually share the same common flaw because the manufacturer puts the ports so close together that it is very difficult to imagine how you get four devices plugged in, so the four port hub allows you to use only two of the ports which means you get one additional port above if you had no hub at all. Ports -1 Ports +2, net gain is ONE PORT.
This particular hub looks promising because it has four ports each facing a different direction. I was so tickled to see it I bought two. Now the bad news.
1) The manufacturer was loathe to use any metal or fiberglass. Compared to my previous hub which was almost all plastic, this one feels flimsy and delicate in my hand. And to make sure I notice the delicate nature, the ports are tight. I need additional elbow grease to get my devices plugged into it. So this device is more "made to break" than average.
2) Each port is bracketed by plastic so you can have a hard time plugging in anything as wide as the space between the brackets. I have an 8 gig flash drive that almost doesn't fit, making the connection seem less than reliable.
3) If you turn off or hibernate your computer with the hub plugged in and peripherals plugged into the hub the computer fails to recognize any of them when you turn it back on. Before the hub or the peripherals will work properly you have to unplug the hub and plug it back in.
This happens even with very simple devices plugged in, like my wired optical mouse. This happens even with just one device plugged in like my wired optical mouse.
For reference my machine is a Dell less than one year old and my OS is VISTA. Everything except this shiny new hub has worked nicely since I got it all.
A cheaply made, but functional hub!.......2007-11-23
I was looking for an inexpensive USB hub as I am quickly gaining new USB devices, and there are no USB ports left open! This was definitely the least expensive hub Amazon had to offer, and I decided to give it a try. It's exactly what you you expect for the price. It is very cheaply made, and you have to push a little harder than normal to insert devices into the ports.
However, on what is MOST important, the device works well. I plugged the hub into my only remaining USB port, and then plugged other devices into the hub. They all work with no issue whatsoever! I am not overly picky with devices like this, as long as they work I am happy. For what I needed it to do, it is everything I need. I would buy it again.
PROS = Inexpensive price, works exactly as it should.
CONS = Cheaply made, you will need a little extra effort than normal to plug devices in.

Casual dude who still does the work.......2007-12-12
All I needed was a couple of extra USB ports, and this one was 3-4 times lower in price than the comparable D-Link. It performs as well, I'm sure, but it's very light and small. With a shorty cable that neatly packs away into the back of the device, it's ideal for storing in a laptop case. Using it with my desktop, I've had to settle for having it hang somewhat indecorously on the back of my computer--a side no one sees, so no big deal. Nevertheless, a longer cord would enable it to rest on the same surface as the computer; or the replacement of the cord by an extension arm would enable it to rest secure again the back of the computer, much like a multiple adapter that's plugged into an AC outlet. All the same, I didn't design it, and I didn't pay much for it. No complaints, no regrets, I'm tired of placing big bets, here's to a self-powered mini hub!

I purchased this item, wondering if it would really work for the price, since the usb cable alone was worth the purchase price. The software was easy to download and use, if you read the help section before trying to use it. Works Better than expected. Can't beat this item for what it does at this price. Motorola provides updates for the software.

The service was prompt but the product will not work on my phone. Apparently Verizon blocks the product from working on their phones. I tried downloading an file to unlock it, but still had no success. Good thing it only cost $1.99. Not the seller's fault, Verizon is to blame on this one.

I purchased the StarTech USB to Infrared adapter to use with an old Cannon BJC-80 printer. It's a portable printer, a little larger than a cigar box.
The printer connects to a computer by IrDA or parallel port. Most of my laptops lack the parallel port, so IrDA was the logical choice for me.
I installed the printer, plugged in the adapter and began printing. For $29, I was able to salvage this excellent old printer that still has a lot of life, rather than spend about $250 for a new portable printer.

I got this to allow me to download diving profiles from my UWATEC computer to my desktop and laptop.
It works well, which is more than I could say for the other ones I tried. My dive computer is very picky, and this adapter links up nicely.

There are many of these on the market and this is one of the most inexpensive. There is no difference as far as I could tell being the owner of others in the past. This one was the cheapest I have bought so far and the only one I will buy in the future since it works just like the rest.

I purchased this for use with my Polar S725X HRM. It was plug-and-play, driver disk not needed. I'm on an XP Pro workstation with all the latest patches and updates applied (Aug, 2007). Included with the adapter is a 12" USB extension cable which is great for aiming the adapter in any direction needed.
Communication with watch works flawlessly. Communication is bi-directional, so it allows data from the watch to be transferred to the PC and vice versa. I had to turn off my computer speakers and cell phone because they both emitted signals that interfered with the IR.
This adapter costs half of what the Polar equivalent does, so it's a great savings. The plastic lens on the end of the adapter is a little loose, but doesn't seem like it will ever fall out, and isn't interfering with communications. The loose lens seems to be by design, albeit poor. The adapter has a tiny but bright comm light so you can see when data is being transferred.

I've now had two of these and both have lasted me less than a year - which is way too freakin' short for $30
+ bucks! While they were still working (both just up and stopped working one day) I would usually have to attempt connecting many times before it would work.

I am a guitar player, so I knew the quality and reliability of the Monster Cable brand before I ever bought this product. They are a fantastic company, who makes some of the most durable, reliable cable products on the market today.
I love the fact that this cable is 10 feet in length. The recharger cable that came with the PS3 is only 3-4 feet long - barely long enough to sit in the chair and play while the controller is charging! This cable fixes that problem. Heck, I can lay back in my recliner with this cable attached and still have plenty of slack to spare!
The quality is top notch, which is exactly what you'd expect from Monster Cable. The cable is nice & thick, with heavy rubber sheathing and heavy duty plugs. This baby isn't gonna wear out or have connection problems anytime soon. And for the price, it really can't be beat.

This thing delivers in spades! It's nice and small, so you don't need to do much dancing to access all the buttons. The analog nub works just like the PSP's, and works alright for a D-Pad as well. I'm on a mac, so the included drivers weren't of much use, but it's an HID device so it works fine. Works with emulators, Cave Story, and other games. Comes in a really nice box, too.
Especially at this price, this is ideal for a notebook gamer.
Great portable gamepad.......2007-12-15
I purchased an Asus Eee PC (love it) about a month ago and wanted a small gamepad to easily take with it. I play emulators (SNES, NES....etc) and using just the keyboard can be a pain. I did a bit of research, and ended up purchasing this one.
Pros: Size matters, and this one is perfect for mobile use. It folds in half, and with the detachable retractable cord it fits easy in a small bag with the laptop. But, if you have large hands, then this is not the pad for you. I am average and it is very workable. The build quality seems good, and they kept the weight down so its easy to hold. It comes with a case, but I do not use it. The buttons work well, but it will not replace my full size Logitech Dual for desktop use. As a bonus since the cable is a standard USB cable, I always have a way to plug a camera into the laptop on the go. Price is right, actually wish I had picked up two.
Cons: The little d-pad is very much like the analog stick on the PSP. It is a bit odd feeling and it is easy to push the wrong direction. I play mostly old RPG's so it is not an issue, but for fast action games I would say it would be a no go. The cord (standard USB connections) is a bit short, but you can use any standard USB cable. I wish it were not the "silver" color, black or white would be better for me.
If you are looking for a tiny, easy to carry gamepad, this is a good choice. If I lost it I would quickly buy another one.

I was somewhat taken aback when I first saw this mouse, I didn't realize how small it was when I ordered it and didn't know how easy it would be to use for long periods.
