Worth it to get the Sony Brand cables.......2007-12-21
For those who don't know, HDMI and component cables offer much better image quality (clarity, contrast, sharpness) than standard cables (called composite) that are included with the PS3. There has been a trend to manufacture "cheaper" (less quality) component cables as of late, because most people with are opting for HDMI, those who have HD tvs (which i don't happen to have.) I tried a third party manufacturer's ps3 component cable and not only did i get some "static" in the picture quality, but the sony cable produced a much better image. This is because the Sony brand cable is a high quality product (OFC copper and gold connectors.) A component cable will make a huge difference in your movie and game play experience, and I would definitely suggest getting a good one, like this one from Sony, versus other "poorer" quality cables offered by other companies.

These cables look and feel high quality and give a high quality picture. You will need to adjust your contrast/brightness settings once you use these cables to get the best picture.
For some reason when I hook up the Ps3 to my tv via HDMI I get terrible color banding.
So I was forced to buy these for a fix. I was expecting a big picture downgrade, but you dont lose much. HDMI however is better, crisper and sharper picture. I've seen some tvs hooked up with cheap component cables where the color looks washed out and theres picture problems. Thats not the case with these cables, you get the feeling that these component cables deliver the absolute best component picture possible.

I was so impressed by the quality that I kept it and am currently using it (as opposed to using the PS2 one that I already had).

It may not be a Monster cable, but it works great. i have my PS2 set to component video output, and it looks great on my 1080i plasma. not using the audio portions, as i'm using my optical output.

If you own a HDTV, I would highly recommend buying a component cable for use with your PS2. Games are not only clearer and sharper, but color is much better as well as saturation. It's almost as if you are playing a new game, really. DVD's look slightly better, but game improvements are much more significant. Maximize the use of your HDTV and use a component cable.

The PS2/PS Cables are a great addition to any Play Station gamer's system. The audio connections are the same as those that come standard with the PS2 but the S video cable on this cable make all the difference. I bough this product, instalation was as easy as plug the original PS2 cables, the picture quality is outstanding, games looks like PS2.5 it realy unleash the games graphics, menus and textures looks sometimes twice as detailed.
On the color side, the colors looks more bright and live, improved the colors on a 25% to 50% its realy top quiality color definition Im talking here.
Sound doesnt change at all, but my TV is Full Pro Logic 5 Sorround Sound, so it sounds and looks exelent, I replayed all my old games just to see how the graphics improved after looking at what this cable do.
This is a must have if you have a PS2 and a S Video plug on your TV.
Its like have your glasses with dirt and then clean them up and look at everithing sharp and clean, thats the S Video clable effect on the PS2 games.
Highly recomended.
AV Component vr S/Video.......2004-05-21
I just bought the component AV cable from a 3rd party company and already has the S/video cables (3rd party too) . I've read that AV component it's much better than S video, and tha's why I bought it. But is not!. AV component seems to be a little better than standard AV cables (RCA). S video gives an extraordinary brilliance to images. Video Component looks opaque, maybe Monster cables works better. In summary:
1- S/Video
2- AV component
3- Standar Av cables (rca)
What's your experience?, could it be 'cause they are 3rd party?

I highly recommend you not waste your money on cables made by this company. The plugs fit very loose and fall apart. I'm not saying shouldn't get higher quality cables like S-Video or Component they're great, in fact I would recommend if you have both the S-Video and the Red, Blue, Green holes on your TV to go straight to the Component (The Red, Blue, Green) cause it makes the scanlines less noticable making the image even clearer even if it's not a HDTV plus if you do get one you'll have the right cables to get the best quality. All I'm saying is either get the ones by Sony or Monster Cable cause the Indec cables are pretty shoddy.
