Customer Reviews:
very clever item!.......2007-12-21
I love the fact that it's an "all-in-one" unit, easily switched to whatever configuration you need. Light and compact, perfect for travel.
Description did not match reality.......2007-12-07
I bought this adaptor specifically for my vacation to China. The product description says it works in China. This is false! The plug configuration is different in China (triangle shape). So this adaptor was useless to me!
Belkin F8E449 Universal AC Travel Adapter .......2007-12-02
This device packs all necessary features into one compact, small package that fits easily in your bags - which is just what you want on the road. The socket adapters easily unfold and with compatibility for European, British and US standard plugs, you pretty much have all bases covered wherever you go.
And what about the performance?
Well, some of you may say "What's there to perform for a travel adapter? All you do is plug in your gadgets, and that's that, right?"
That's almost right, but having tried other travel adapters, there really is a ton of complications you can have with them. Some adapters fall of the wall when you connect heavier plugs (esp. ones where the charger/converter is built into the plug). Others are finicky and sensitive to touch or accidental bumps, losing charge off and on. Others won't fit a number of sockets for some reasons. And so on...
But on the contrary, the Belkin F8E449 Universal AC Travel Adapter comes through as one reliable, sturdy device. It keeps up the current even if accidentally touched or bumped into and hugs the wall like Spiderman.
So in short, this is a reliable device at a great price point / value, and a versatile companion on the road.
Just remember that you may still need an electric currency transformer for some devices, so check the voltage range on the device or charger before plugging it in - this will save you from eventually frying the heck out of it.
Does not convert!!!.......2007-11-26
This does not convert, it just adapts, you will fry something easily!!!
That is a very important point to leave out in your ad!!! They are misrepresenting themselves!
Does not do voltage conversion.......2007-11-13
Amazon's description is misleading - it implies this product does voltage conversion, it does NOT. If you buy this, make sure your electrical items can use 110V or 220-240V.

looked like a nice item.......2007-09-05

Customer Reviews:
Road Warrior Must Have.......2007-12-26
The iGo Everywhere 130 w/Dual Power is just what I ordered and works as advertised. It can be used in lieu of the power brick that came with your laptop as well as on a plane or call. Additionally I can charge my BlackBerry without leaving my laptop powered on so I could ue my laptop USB port; this is a real plus.
PROS- carrying case houses all accessories, can be used in home, office, plane, or car, cool styling, adaptable by design to power multiple devices through use of tips, power laptop and other small device at same time
psuedo CON- pricey but worth it
Works as advertised.......2007-12-02
The zip case for all the cables and stuff could be a little nicer, but otherwise this does the job. iGo has the best tip selection, so if I buy a new device, I'm most likely to be able to get a tip for it.
Works great..........2007-10-22
It does exactly what it purports to do. Just took it on a trip to Ukraine and had no problems.
It's a bit on the heavier side, but the space and weight saved by not having to bring all my power adapters more than made up for it.
I guess if I were to say a couple bad things, I would say that the case could be a hair bigger and they could charge a bit less for it. Don't know as though it is worth the money if you're not traveling a lot.
Good product though.

Customer Reviews:
For my purpose, product was perfect........2007-12-02
This is one of those multiple-voltage wall warts which has a sliding switch to set the voltage to one of 7 values from 1.5 to 12 volts DC. You see these for $10-$15 in stores, but Amazon's 3rd party unit is $3 including free shipping (today 12/2/07). The shape is unusual, being roughly a sphere of diameter 2.5 inches. There are 6 different plug styles included that might include what you need. Polarity is selected by the way you attach the plug to the cable from the adapter. The box says that a load current of 300 mA is "required". Since this is an unregulated DC power supply, the actual output voltage (at each switch setting) varies with load current, so I presume at 300 mA load the official voltages are realized. At lower currents, the output voltages are higher than nominal and might cause damage. For my application, I built an external circuit with about $1 worth of parts to obtain a *regulated* voltage source at 1.5 volts to act as a battery replacement/AC adapter for an MP3 player, a Creative Muvo V100 1GB also from Amazon. This particular MP3 player allows the 1.5 volts to be supplied directly to the normal USB connector power pins, so my "AC adapter" connects to the player with a Dollar Store USB cable cut off at one end (warning: these cheap cables are fine for power, don't use them for USB 2.0 fast transfer). My goal here was to have an MP3 player run 24x7 for a special purpose without using a battery; the Muvo draws maybe 35 mA. So, the bottom line: this wall wart can serve as the basis of a simple regulated power supply putting out anywhere from 1.2 to ~12 volts as shown page 14 of the National LM317L data sheet (Google). The regulator uses this LM317L, 2 resistors (which determine the regulated output voltage) and 2 small caps. It is not easy to find "AAA battery replacement" regulated power supplies at low cost. As an aside, the Muvo is a good design, hardware and software. It's weakness is that it fails to support the fast USB 2.0 download rate, supporting only the "slow USB 2.0" download rate which is the same as USB 1.0 -- a bit of shoddy specsmanship. In my application, I download once so no matter. On the other hand, its battery life is long and current requirement low. This player was $33 with free shipping from Amazon, is now $35 without.
Its ok.......2007-03-31
Not the most reliable AC Adapter. The different pins fall off of the cord all the time.
Great deal for the price.......2007-01-18
Works great for a great price - if you know what you are doing. There are a few steps you need to go through first:
1. Make sure you are using the correct amperage for the device. (If device uses less than the adapter's rating, that's ok)
2. Set the proper voltage in the hidden compartment on the adapter.
3. Find the right size tip for the device.
4. *** Make sure you are using the proper tip polarity!! *** This is very important. If in doubt, check the specs on the device - it usually is marked on the device. If you are still unsure, don't use the adapter! You will have a 50/50% change to possibly ruin your device if you guess.
Big and Dangerous.......2005-03-16
The JWIN JA-C82 1000ma 110/220v AC-DC adapter is big, hefty and potentially dangerous. It's about the size and shape of a women's fist. Disappointing considering modern AC-DC 110/220v adapters that come with my travel electronics are much lighter. The scary part is that you'll have to figure out the DC polarity before plugging in. Not an easy task. Get it wrong and you might toast your electronics.
If you're an international electronics guru, this can be a bargain value.

Best game ever!.......2007-09-08
This Universal Handheld AC Adaptor had the best storyline and character development of any AC Adaptor I've played! Awesome!
All in one!.......2007-08-03
Since my cockatoo chew my Nitendo DS ac adaptor, I have to buy a new one.
Many people had GBA SP and old Nitendo DS, may need addition ac adaptor, because your old one may lost, stolen, or broken. It very hard to find ac adaptor for GBA SP and old Nitendo DS(ac adaptor can be use for both Handheld), because of new verison like GB micro and Nitendo DS Lite come out they stop selling and had low supplies of old ac adaptor.
THE BEST!
After searching and compare price, this intec Universal Handheld AC Adaptor is the best. First you can't get $6.99 ac adaptor that had all in one any where else. The feature is can to use with All Nitendo Handhelds system( GBA SP, Nitendo DS, GB micro and Nitendo DS Lite). Other feature is. you can charge any three Nitendo Handhelds system together all at once. Compare with other ac adaptor, other had very high price and can only be charge one kind of Handhelds system. The only tiny little's problem for this Universal Handheld AC Adaptor is the cord may be too short for some user. But the price is great and charge almost all Nitendo Handheld system. Buy the most useful one!

Customer Reviews:
Stay away from IGO products - they go bad fast!.......2007-11-08
I started using IGO products about 2 years ago. I don't mean that I own several IGO products. I mean that I've been replacing the same powercord over and over again for the last couple years. About two years ago my original power supply for my Powerbook G4 fried. A friend told me about the IGO product line and suggested that I could get a replacement cord for the same price (about $80) but enjoy much more versatility with the new cord. I bought the IGO and it worked fine for about 8 months. One day, however, the brick (power supply) quit working. I took it back to Radio Shack where I purchased it and they replaced it. Four months later, the second brick went bad. I took it back to Radio Shack but this time they told me the return time had expired and I would have to deal with IGO directly. I contacted IGO, explained the situation and got an RMA. I sent it back to them and then received a new one. This one lasted about 3 months and the brick blew out again. Finally, I decided to toss the piece of junk and I bought a replacement power cord from an online supplier for less than half the price of the IGO (about $35). Its worked without a hitch. In the meantime my wifes IGO which we purchased after I got mine, has just given up the ghost. It was about a year old. The ring on the tip split and stopped feeding power to the laptop. At the same time the light on the power supply started to glower and finally stopped working. All told, we've gone through 4 IGO's in two years. Rather than deal with having to return an IGO for a fifth time, I told my wife to toss her IGO and I purchased her another $35 special. IGO looks and feels solid and the idea appears great on paper - buy one power cord to use with a wide variety of appliances. The only problem is that they don't stay working long enough to be worth the high price. If you enjoy returning items every 6 to 8 months, buy an IGO. If you want something that isn't going to crap out on you in less than a year, buy something else.
iGo 70 a great solution for older laptops.......2007-08-10
I have been using this on the road for a few months, in conjunction with the optional "phone tip charger" adapter (273-1787), and have used it to power both an older Sony and Dell laptop with the included tips, and also two phones and a PDA with the adapter above. Very nice that it runs from AC or DC. Bright blue LED actually also worked as a night light for 3 year old daughter in a hotel as well! Cary bag (included) is big enough for all the tips, with enough room for all stuff, including the adapter above.
Only notes - at 70W, this will not be powerful enough to charge some newer laptops, need a higher power one.
Also, make sure to keep the reference card in the case with the list of which plugs go for which laptops.

Customer Reviews:
It would be nice.......2007-11-16
if the product description would tell you how many amps it outputs and other such useful info. Electronics can easily be damaged if you put more juice into them than they can handle.
Works Great.......2007-07-03
Works great. Make sure you follow the directions. My CD player had the polarity marked on the jack (hole where you plug in the AC adapter). It was a lot cheaper than the Radio Shack models...which only come with one size plug. This model is much more versatile.
Works great a little big.......2007-06-03
It works great but it is a little thick ...Meaning it is hard to use on some outlets with a closing cover, which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. With that said it works great. It is a great price too for so many options. Radio shack wanted twice as much for just one option.
No more looking for the proper adapter!
Great Product.......2007-05-30
I've had this item for some time now, and it still works just like the day when I received it.
Universal AC Adapter.......2007-05-21
This is the item that I ordered. When I ordered, it came when the confirmation notice said that it was to arrive. Thanks for your assistance.

OK if you are a hobbyist.......2007-09-03
As the previous reviewer suggested, the output is unregulated. That means it will "meet spec" as long as there's a load on it of 1,000 mA (hence the "required" wording on the info sheet). If not, the output will be a lot higher. In this case, about 17 V DC with no load (110 VAC input). As soon as you put a load on it, the output voltage drops somewhat close to the voltage you selected. The voltage selection is done by a switch located under the outlet prongs, behind a plastic cover. Not seen from the photo.
I used my adapter to power a DC fan, which doesn't care one way or the other about regulated voltages. I just measured the voltage under load and adjusted the voltage selection switch to get what I needed. In this case, I got 10.4 V with a 40 mA draw on the 6 V setting. It works.
If you're building something and looking for inexpensive way to get DC from the mains, this is it. If you need to power some expensive electronics, stay away.
Possible Fire Hazard.......2007-08-31
I gave the product two stars only because it actually did supply power to my electronic device. However, the adapter gets very VERY hot when in use and I could also smell an electrical-burn type smell. I am worried that with extended use it might actually catch on fire. If you do use it I'd recommend never leaving it unattended, and don't place it near curtains or similar items. It is also huge and heavy, so it will block all other outlets in it's vicinity. Not very useful for portable devices such as DVD players you'd carry with you. I don't recommend purchasing this item.
UNREGULATED - Use Caution.......2007-05-21
This device is labeled as "Universal." Unlike those similar devices that cost 15 to 20 US dollars, this device is unregulated. I've seen a few other unregulated that costed 15 to 20 bucks, so this one is still a very good deal. Unregulated adapters only work safely with devices meeting the exact specs of the adapter. For instance, if you use a 300mA device with this adapter, the device and/or the adapter could fail, or worse, start a fire. So, at the very least, never use unattended. MODIFICATION - ATTEMPT AT YOUR OWN RISK: I am using these to power some cold cathode light kits (Logisys brand, 500mA - not verified). I use two kits per adapter. On one, I use three DC fans and one kit. No fires yet. You should know how to do basic wiring to do this mod. If you do any cutting, the white-striped sleeve goes to yellow or red. You can also solder the PC wiring to one of the adapter plugs, instead. That requires steady work to isolate each wire. Three stars due to the unregulated outputs.
