Completely satisfactory for me........2007-07-16
Bought these after hearing my music CDs skip on certain players. These Maxells (made in Japan) have been terrific. They play flawlessly on any CD player I've come across.

I believe my pack was old........2007-04-27
I've bought the gold ones and they were great. But this time they were blue and the first one didn't write. only 40 x speed on these blue ones also. So ask the seller which color they have, ask for the gold ones.
maxell lost its quality.......2006-02-12
maxell has been one of my trusted use for blank discs for longer than i can remember.
up until sometime in 2005...when maxell changed their discs.
heres the difference
the 2004 model has the maxell guy on rhe left, and the cdr/80/700 tihng on the right. on the top it says maxell in big letters. also if you feel the background, it is a whole lot more stable. it doesnt chip easily. also the plastic used was not scratched easily.
the 2005/2006 model is a whole lot worse. it says cd-r onl eft, highlighted. on top of that it has maxell in small letters. on the right it says 80/700 and the maxell guy is right below it. the top of the disc is obviously used with cheaper material, and it scratches easily.
another thing noticeable from the two is burn errors. ive had no burn errors at all with either of the 2004 models (regular or music). on the 2005 model at least 80% failed.
also when using nero express i tested imation and sony cd-rs just to make sure my recorder was ok. imation had a 10% fail rate and sony had a 0% fail rate...my recorder works fine.
also, i tried burning at slower speed with no better results.
why would imation and sony work on my computer and maxell wouldnt. because maxell cd-rs are garbage. avoid at all costs get imation sony or get maxell but only if the discs look like i explained on the 2004 modle becuase those were literally the best cdrs ive ever owned.
Repackaged Taiyo Yuden Discs.......2006-01-02
I purchased these discs looking for a better then average disc. When I placed them in my Plextor drive I was very pleased to find that they are in fact Taiyo Yuden discs. They are of the highest quality and reliability, you can't go wrong with these discs. I haven't coastered one disc in ~ 500 burns.

Sony Blank Media.......2007-10-24
Not one coaster; not one. That goes for both CD-R and DVD-R and I have burned over a thousand of both. Almost all of both are made in Taiwan, but the Sony brand quality persists. The only comparable brand is the more expensive Taiyo Yuden, which I also use. I use the Sonic RecordNow Plus software.
blank cd's.......2007-10-24
am using disks to record my old cassetes on to them. they are working out fine and sound good.
all right by me !!!.......2007-08-27
Sony makes a very reliable blank CD-R that can handle up to 80 minutes of music or 700 megabytes of data. Moreover, these blank CD-Rs are capable of recording data at high speeds. (I looked at one older Sony CD-R disc to help me write this review--would you believe it DIDN'T say the speed at which it records? Sorry!!!) The data I record onto these CD-Rs has now lasted for over three years, proving the test of time. I have used these as data discs and discs to record audio. I almost never got a coaster. Great!
The CD-R discs are compact and easy to store. While the discs are still blank, store them in the circular case on the spindle that they came in. After your burn data or music onto them, I would recommend storing them in slim jewel cases instead of paper sleeves. It's just better protection for your CD-Rs that have anything stored on them. Don't store these discs, burnt or blank, in rooms that become very hot; this causes damage to any brand of this type of disc and you could lose data over time.
There are two caveats that many other people note about any brand of this product: when you are burning the data onto the blank disc, don't be surprised if you see that the data is burning at a rate slower than the packaging advertises. This can happen if your burner doesn't have the capacity to burn faster, or it may be a quirk. I am not a professional so I cannot be certain of precisely what causes this phenomenon; but I assure you that the extra minute or two (tops) that you wait to get your CD-R completed is worth the wait. In addition, DON'T write on these using Sharpie ink pens. The ink can seep through the top coating of the CD-R disc and slowly but surely compromise your data--and you wouldn't want that, now would you? If you need to label the discs, label its' jewel case using a post-it note. At least that's what I do.
Overall, Sony blank CD-R discs store data reliably over the years and I believe that an extra minute to burn the data onto the blank disc is well worth it in the event that it doesn't actually burn at the very highest speed advertised.
Use them in good health!
What are you guys talking about?.......2007-05-31
These are the best CD-Rs that I have used. Of the many I have tried (Memorex, Imagine, etc) these are the only ones where the reflective surface doesnt start to bubble after a few months of sitting in my car (not in direct sunlight). Also, I have never had any problem burning to these cd's, and I am usually going at max speed for my burner.
I am not generally a big fan of Sony. This is the only product of theirs I will ever buy except for the Playstation, and that is only because there is no other platform to play the Final Fantasy games.
unusable CDs - horrible.......2007-05-26

Customer Reviews:
Well, my computer loves 'em!.......2007-11-12
Both Lappy and Lappy Junior (laptops #1 and #2) would angrily (and hastily) spit out all other CDs with great disdain and disgust, even refusing to acknowledge their presence. Ugly, you-don't-even-exist statements would then flash across Lappy's monitor after I inserted other CDs into Lappy's CD drive (such as "please insert disk").
I personally spent at least $3.2 million trying to find a CD that Lappys I & II would accept. The Maxell CD-R 700/80 are the ONLY disks that the Lappys love.
As a professional writer, and as the sister of a comp-sci professor, I do NOT walk away from Lappy at the end of the day without backing up my work. Every morning that Lappy Junior springs to life is a miracle of grace and I recognize that as a true fact. So I go through a lot of disks, backing up each day's work.
I know many would argue that the flash-drives are a better way to save, but I prefer the disks for daily work. They can be added to, and, if your flash drive had a catastrophic failure, you could lose months and months of work. If your CD failed, you'd lose a day's work (assuming you back up each night).
Personally, I prefer the 100-count, which comes in a plastic case (which also provides for handy storage of recorded CDs). I have noticed that prices vary widely on this site. I paid about twenty-seven dollars for my 100-count of Maxell 48x CD-R.
If It is Prodisc.......2007-10-31
If it is Maxell Prodisc I give it 5 stars because the surface of the CD-R is more sturdy and a more smoother texture than the Maxell Ritek's. The Maxell 40x Ritek's have pinprick through the CD-R, which you can see through the light.
No Problems Burning With These.......2007-05-16
Burned a dozen or so of these last night after buying the 50 pack (and burned them at the fastest speed possible on Windows Vista Media Player). No hiccups at all. Don't know why the previous reviewer had so many problems with them. I will definitely be buying more of these in the future.

Customer Reviews:
Go for the Japanese produced blank-media. India-Tiawan AVOID.......2005-02-12
Every brand of blank media is made by different companies, other than the one who's name is on it. When you look near the bar-code of any cd-r or dvd+r, they are always made in these 3 or 4 different places: Taiwan, India, Mexico and Japan. From my experience, the ones that work best are made in JAPAN.
I'm definitely no expert, and if you use blank media for professional purposes, you should investigate this for yourself. I can tell you that Fuji is always made in Japan, and I've had a good success rate with them for a few weeks (since I learned this). Of course, checking every one before it goes out the door is a good idea, but you never know how long it will last; DVD-Rot is a real problem. Other than that, I would only buy them in stores so you can tell exactly where they came from.
And for the love of God, can someone just make a product that will last??
The Most Dependable Product For Music.......2004-03-19
I have a Sony CD recorder and the thing is finicky. I tried Sony and Memorex brands and both ended up as expensive, colorful coasters. I never had a problem with Maxell, the reproduced sound is excellent and each and every disc finalizes with no problem. Playback on other machines is never an issue. I won't use anything else and I buy my blanks at Sam's Club, 50 discs including the slim jewel cases for $18.00.
maxell = mediocre.......2003-06-01
I would like to say that with this pack so far I have not experienced any problems, but I have previously experienced problems with maxell products on their older CD-Rs. Maxell isn't the greatest brand, but they do their job and serve their purpose. personally, I wouldn't buy maxell for an important job, for fear that it might screw up on me or not burn correctly. for a simple job for a friend (such as copying a cd or copying a file to a disc), look no further. these are great for semi-permanent files. for more trustworthy stuff, look elsewhere though. TDK, Memorex, Fuji, and Imation are good brands for burning media.

Works for me.......2002-12-02
I had trouble finding a CD-R brand and type that would work in my car's finicky CD player. I went through several brands until I tried this one. Maxell works great for me! I haven't made a coaster yet.

Customer Reviews:
Does the job reliably.......2004-09-27
I got one of these back in mid-2000. It's been quite reliable. I actually got it used, because I had a defective drive from another outfit (Iomega). I then tested someone else's drive (the one I have now) on my Mac with Toast 4, which worked. I went out and bought an 8230e, the kind available at the time. It didn't work, so I traded with the friend for his drive.
It's worked reliably, and rarely produces a bad disk. Even though it doesn't advertise so, it works with Toast for Mac. It doesn't include any Mac software. I wouldn't have bought it afterwards because it's not particularly fast and the computer I bought at the New Year of 2001 had FireWire. But it's served me well over the past few years, and will be subject to less use when the new iMac comes.
Can't Beat This Drive for Ease of Use - So Friendly, So Fun!.......1999-12-07
Background: I have burned lots of CDs but never had my own burner. I bought this drive for its USB connectivity (one drive I'll use on many PCs).
I expected installation to be a pain (on every PC). I expected it would be hard to use for making copies. I COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG!
It took me longer to unpack the box than it did to install the drive. Total time for both: 10 minutes. Instructions: insert USB cable, one floppy in drive...2 minutes later: ready to go. Awesome!
Once installed, software is a BREEZE. Start yourself off by inserting a blank disk and you never have to look for the software in your start/programs/etc.. It AUTOMATICALLY pops up with the right window -- if the CD is blank, it asks: What do you want to do? An Easy Menu then takes you right to the program you need.
Insert a blank CD-RW and it will format it in the background; insert one that is already formatted and it doesn't annoy you with any windows/menus -- just go right ahead and use it.
It passed my wife's skepticism with a new record: no complaints, nothing but "wows". She inserted a blank CD-R, one click on the menu to the right software, inserted a disc to copy. Bingo, started copying. 10 min later, she's got a copy and no fuss.
The combination of CD-R and USB isn't the speediest and I've coasterized a couple of discs, but I'd trade coasters for the ease-of-use that this drive provides -- in a heartbeat.
If anyone from HP is reading this, congrats gang, because this really isn't like an HP product of yesteryear -- it is simple to use and fun right out of the box. Keep making products like this -- Please!
Ease of use - 5 stars Performance - 3 stars Fun - 5 stars Value - 4 stars (versus other USB CD-Rs) Overall 5 Stars

Best, most reliable CD's.......2007-11-29
Verbatim makes the best, most reliable media we've ever used. It works in all kinds of drives and we never have any duds. I always look for Verbatim.
great cd-rs at a great price.......2007-11-15
Verbatim has a great reputation for being high quality recording media and we have been very satisfied with this product. We trust Verbatim as a brand, and have been very happy with it.
Great discs.......2007-11-12
I have always bought verbatim cdrs for their quality. I have burnt a couple of thousand cds in my years and maybe just got about 30 coasters, and that could be due to my burner. My first choice will always be verbatim.
Very satisfied.......2007-06-18
I've only been burning CDs a little over a year. I started with the Sony brand thinking I was getting a high quality product. However, I had numerous burn failures and/or playback problems. So I checked the reviews on Sony CD-Rs. Those reviews led me to switch, and I chose Verbatim which in general seemed to be favorably rated. I bought this spindle of 100 and just used the last one. 100 of 100 of the CDs successfully burnt and played. So I ordered my second Verbatim spindle. As far as my experience with Verbatim goes, I've been VERY satisfied.
Perfect CD-R.......2007-05-19
Having had a horrible ratio with Memorex CD-Rs, I have never had to throw away a Verbatim CD-R because it was could not read data ... positively pleased.
Product Description
Verbatim's DVD-R media are compatible with DVD-R drives and are read compatible with most DVD-ROM drives and DVD-Video players. Use Verbatim DVD-R media for a data archiving, PC backup, audio/video recording, and more.
Customer Reviews:
Affordable and reliable........2007-05-30
For the price and performance, Verbatim products can seldom be beaten. Do not let the price tag fool you: there are DVD-Rs for sale at 15-20 cents each (these are 50 cents), but fail to deliver whereas these are flawless. 25 burns and 25 successes, all at 16x as advertised. I've ordered another couple of hundreds. Great performance! Highly recommended.
Verbatim DVD-R.......2007-05-07
This was my first experience with -R discs. Product produced no coasters for the whole 25 discs in the first spindle. My DVD burner did not want to burn them at anything above 4X, but I never go above 8X on Lightscribe discs anyway.
First Class Blanks.......2007-03-28
I use only class 1 blanks for archiving photos. Using the DVD Identifier software, these are the best disks. Many manufacturers make good disks but then get subcontractors to make runs for price competitive disks with their name. These disks are both price competitive and Class 1.
Perfection.......2007-03-15
So far I've only been using it to record movies off the television and it's worked perfectly. I even recorded a pay per view and the quality was great. No coasters here! I'd reccomend these to anyone and I'll be back for more when I finish what I purchased.
No frisbees yet.......2007-01-10
These DvD's are working great in our new Samsung DVD-R player.
We have made about 10 copies and I will be ordering another round soon.
