Great product at a great price!.......2007-12-26
This little camera packs a lot of bang for the buck. Compact and user friendly. Worth every penny!
Pretty good for the price.......2007-12-25
As a camcorder it has many benefits, including easiness in using, and holding as it is very small (the size of the hand). Also the 30Gb of memory is fantastic as you don't have to worry about how much time you are spending on recording. I think that 7H are more then enough for 1 day and maybe even for 2 days. Also, 34X optical zoom is very greate and with a very good quality. On the other side being digital recording doesn't mean that the quality is very good. For example, when I focus my camera on one object, it is very good quality, whereas the sorrounding might be turbid. This is more evident when I record at night. Also, the camera which is inlcuded in this camcorder, can't be used for anything, as the quality is very bad.
After all, as a camera it is very comfortable to handle, easy to use, and good quality. In short, it is worth it for the price offered. Enjoy
NOT SO GREAT PICTURE .......2007-12-11
WE BOUGHT THIS ITEM ABOUT A MONTH AGO. AFTER A LOT OF RESEARCH WE SETTLED ON THIS ONE. THE PICTURE QUALITY ON THE LCD SCREEN IS NOT GOOD. WE HAD AN OLDER DV CAMCORDER THAT WAS MUCH BETTER. WE HAVENT TRIED TO PLAY ANY VIDEOS ON THE TV OR COMPUTER TO KNOW IF THE PICTURE QUALITY IS ANY BETTER.
ON A BETTER NOTE THE CAMCORDER IS EASY TO USE AND LIGHTWEIGHT. IT HAS MANY COOL FEATURES AND SPECIAL EFFECTS YOU CAN USE.
Nice camera, software is a joke.......2007-12-09
If it was only a camera, I would have given this four stars. However, the vast majority of users will want to download the videos to their computers and this is where the trouble begins.
For some bizarre reason, JVC chose to use a .mod extension (which different forums say is an mpeg2 format) for the videos. The result is that none of your video editing software will work on your files. The videos MAY play in Media Player, Real Player and your other players, if you are lucky.
Once you decide to actually try and edit the videos, you can't do so with any of the major editors on the market. I consider myself fairly proficient around computers but my attempts at solving this solution have me incredibly frustrated. I
Before purchasing an Everio camera, be sure to read the forums about converting .mod to .avi or other formats and you will see an ever-growing list of frustrated users. The thing that adds to the frustration is the fact that some of the posts are a couple years old, meaning JVC has known about the problems customers are having but have done nothing to address the core issue. I just bought my Everio in June 2007 and I was extremely annoyed to see how many people have been having the same problem for so long with no solution being offered by JVC.
It is really too bad because this would otherwise be a great buy.
This Camera Is Awesome!.......2007-12-09
To start things off, this camera is great! I know that there are a lot of people that are giving it bad reviews for one apparent reason: the file format of the videos not being readable. I have a SOLUTION: go to this link: [...]. From there, there is another link to a file renaming program that is FREE. By file renaming, I mean changing the extension on the video files. MOD is the extension of the video files on the Everio. They're actually MPEG2 files, but with the MOD extension. The file renamer allows you to change the MOD to MPG, so your computer will recognize the format. I know this sounds complicated, but TRUST ME, it's not. And it will save many, many customers lots of money! Now, past that, this camcorder is simply amazing. The quality of sound and video is 5 star quality. I plan on owning this thing for years to come!

Fantastic Noice Cancelling.......2007-12-26
Just received this headphones as an x-mas gift. Overall fantastic size/weight, I will easily carry these in my backpack, especially in the nice hard case included. I'm a big fan of the over the ear design, but for the majority of consumers this may be an issue. The noise-canceling function works beautifully, as the product info states only 1 AAA battery needed, none required for regular headphone usage. I consider this a major selling point as I do not want a non-functional set of headphones in the event of a dead battery. Altogether I would recommend this pair to anyone looking for a quality set of portable noise canceling headphones.
Excellent performance, comfortable, great value for money.......2007-11-07
I travel fairly frequently on work and the long international flights were getting to me. I'd originally bought a Solitude Plane Quiet II headset which I was fairly happy with except for:
1. Quite tight around the head, difficult to wear for long periods of time.
2. Good sound quality, particularly bass, but an annoying hiss and missing treble and highs during audio playback.
3. Fairly heavy owing to needing 2 AAA batteries.
A colleague at work bought the JVCs and we did a comparison. Initially I was skeptical because my Solitudes were around the ear vs the JVCs which are over the ear. We went into a very noisy server room to do the test and I have to say the performance of the JVCs was astoundingly good.
All three issues that I had with the Solitudes were absent.
1. Extremely comfortable and light. Great build quality.
2. Even better noise canceling performance despite the over the ear design. Even with the active noise cancellation off, merely wearing the headset provides good sound insulation.
3. Great sound quality, very balanced bass and treble, zero hiss.
4. Better battery life than the Solitudes despite needing only one battery.
In addition, the JVCs have some of the benefits of the Solitudes over the industry's most famous headset (Bose).
1. Conventional cable (not proprietary like Bose).
2. Audio passthrough even when the battery dies.
3. Single AAA battery, non-proprietary (if you forget to charge your proprietary Bose battery, your headphones are dead).
4. Great price/value tradeoff compared to the Bose QCII or III.
The only negatives of the JVCs I could perceive are:
1. No volume dial control on the headset itself which is less of a convenience as you now have to turn down the volume from your ipod or computer rather than just reaching up and dialing down.
2. Headphone cable is fairly short (43in) so its difficult (not impossible) to use it with home stereo equipment.
3. Replacing the battery is a bit difficult and involves popping the right earpiece out.

Keep 5 of your favorite albums ready to play instantly whenever you want with this 5 disc CD changer Other features include - optical digital out Remote control with disc keys&numeric pad 10 keypad for direct track access Continuous play Programmable for up to 32 tracks for 5 discs Stabilizing clamper
Amazon.com Product Description
Although it's a budget model, the JVC XL-FZ258BK five-disc carousel player still satisfies many requirements for ergonomic operation and quality sound reproduction. JVC equips the XL-FZ258BK with play exchange, which lets you change any four discs while one is playing. An optical digital output lets you record direct to CD-R or minidisc for pure digital copies and also facilitates integration with a surround receiver and home theater.
JVC has long been recognized for its dedication to high sound quality. Accordingly, this player offers JVC's exclusive P.E.M. D.D. (Pulse Edge Modulation Differential-Linearity-Errorless) digital-to-analog (D/A) converter, touted by many as one of the most accurate and "musical" one-bit D/As available. The converter is designed to render all the delicacy and subtlety of recorded music, and an 8x oversampling digital filter lends a helping hand.
Conveniences include continuous play and smart random play, five individual disc-select keys on the front panel, and a remote control with 10-key pad for direct disc and track access. The XL-FZ258BK also offers a 20-track program chart, resume functionality (letting you pick up where you left off before you turned off the player), program play (up to 32 tracks and/or discs), and four-way repeat (which lets you repeat all tracks, a single track, programmed tracks, and random-play options).
JVC has thoughtfully provided an independent volume control for the player's headphone jack, and the unit comes with a disc-stabilizing clamper to reduce potentially sound-degrading internal vibrations.
JVC's enhanced Compu Link control system uses intuitive technology to foster communication between various JVC components. This unit comes with a one-year warranty on parts and a 90-day warranty on labor.

Last time I buy anything from jvc.......2007-12-22
I noted in one review that the tray came out when turn on,this also happened to me then it began to skip. When I pressed the open button nothing happened although it showed up on the led then I tried to shut it off and I had to press the button three times. it has been out for repair twice I now have the same problems. When I called customer service I felt that they gave me the run around. In all as I said never again will I buy a jvc product.
Poor Quality.......2007-12-21
Arrived with CD door open and would not close. Fixed it my self and then it skips on some CDs.
Very poor quality
Failed after 1 year of Light Use.......2007-12-18
I have had this unit for a little over a year, using it infrequently. It started having problems playing some tracks on even new CDs, and now it won't play anything.
Great product for the price.......2007-11-24
We bought this to replace our old Pioneer CD changer and we are very happy with it. JVD seems to always make a great product for a reasonable price.
Defective Unit.......2007-10-10
When I received this unit, I opened to drawer and put in some CDs. Well the drawer would not close. I got disgusted and stopped trying to close the unit. I could not return the unit with damaging the drawer. I decided to call the manufacturer and get the name of an authorized repair shop in my area. I took the unit to that shop. I got the unit back a few days ago and it has been working fine.
After I took the unit to the repair shop, I e-mailed the company and relayed the above information and expressed that I was unhappy. I would have returned the unit if the drawer closed, but it would not close. Also, I can appreciate that I purchased this unit from a Retailer, it is the manufacturer's issue that the unit was defective. Anyway, long story short I got back an e-mail that I felt was very rude and unprofessional. Well this went from bad to worst, and after a few exchanges of e-mails, I ended up sending an e-mail replete with obscenities. I was pissed, not at the defective unit at this point, but at the horrible response from the company. Anyway, I eventually got an e-mail from another person at the company that was apologetic for the behavior of the employee that was sending me the rude and unprofessional e-mails.

Good entry-level choice for noise isolation.......2007-12-27
I am a musician and have tried a good number of the more basic earbuds. I have no interest in the more expensive earbuds and just want something to isolate noise for plane use, mowing the lawn, etc. Most of the sub-$50 earbuds I've tried have been disappointing. The Marshmallows are also a disappointment sonically, but for their cost they're not bad at all. They are much more comfortable for semi-prolonged use than most of the isolating buds I've tried out and are decently efficient. I also really like the "zip-up" that allows you to keep the buds tightly pinned together when not being worn, as opposed to getting tangled around each other sitting in your bag. The Marshmallows definitely have a seriously lopsided disco smile going on, frequency-wise; quite scooped out and distant in the mids, harsh and smeary in the treble, and crazily heavy handed in the bass. However, this can be mitigated somewhat with EQ, and for airplane use I would much rather have too-heavy bass than too-anemic (which is the problem with other isolating buds I've tried, like Sony's more expensive and absurdly uncomfortable offerings). I wouldn't even dream of trying to mix on these, but then again, I wouldn't mix on any headphones, particularly earbuds; I don't care if they are $200 Ultimate Ears. If you just need a basic set of isolating earbuds for casual use, which is all earbuds should be used for anyway, and don't mind a set that comes on a little strong in the bass department, the Marshmallows are one of the best budget choices out there at the moment.
ok but...............2007-12-27
i bought the jvc marshmallow headphones less than a year ago and the only comment i can make about the sound isolation and sound is that they are amazing. the only down side is that the part that goes into your ear gets really nasty over time and decreases sound quality
perfect for what I wanted.......2007-12-21
I just wanted an inexpensive decent set of COMFORTABLE earphones for using with my MP3 player and these are perfect. Good sound quality and comfy. Not audiophile stuff but they do also block outside noise
Gets the job done........2007-12-20
I purchased these earphones about a month ago from Wal-mart for about $15. I listen to Freddie Hubbard, Jay-Z, The O'Jays, Sade, Prince, and some Bee Gees. I wear them all day at work and also while I workout. They are loud and the bass is a little overwhelming even painful at times, and I like bass! The highs and mids are mediocre at best.I have never had to change my EQ settings this much before. They have a snug fit that does block out a good amount of background noise but after a couple of hours I would have to pull them out for a 5-10 minutes to let my ears rest a bit. They stay put during my workouts without any need for adjustment. For 15 bucks they get the job done just fine!

TINY ears!.......2007-12-07
I have always had a problem with finding ear phones that fit in my ear without hurting after ten minuets, THESE are perfect! They fit smaller ear canals, don't fall out or move AND they don't hurt after wearing them! PLUS even better, you can't hear any outside noise when they are in! It's amazing. I suggest these to anyone who gets ear pains from shoving large ear phones into smaller ears. Worth the money, not too expensive.

They are trashcan bound..........2007-12-21
These headphones are simply no good. First they arrived with stone-dead rechargable batteries. I had to pay to replace them. Now they work, but very intermittently and the sound quality is miserable - lots of static and frequent loud squeals and squawks. Don't waste your time and money. What has happened to JVC? They used to be a respectable company.
Great sound, a bit hard to handle.......2007-12-10
The audio quality of these headphones is good, but the power and channel buttons on the ear cones are too easy to press accidentally.
Also, the headphones produce wireless interference with your head at certain angles.
The headphones are big and bulky and make it hard to lie down and watch.
Works as great as I hoped!.......2007-12-01
Took a long time for the initial charging, but it works great. It has good sound, the volume is adjustable, and has held charge for a long time.
Will return it tomorrow.......2007-11-24
I bought one from CircuitCity because I am suspicious that I might need to return it, although JVC is a brand I didn't have bad experience so far. This headphone is a real disappointment. Not only it has static noice, hard to charge, but 5 out of 10 times it cannot pick up the signal at all. I tried everything and it worked eventually, but I don't know which action causes this. Sometimes it did get the signal from the beginning, but after charging for a while, it cannot pick up the signal again. The instruction is not helpful either.
Anyway, I am quite disappointed at the product. Will return it tomorrow.
A value for the money........2007-11-19
Sound quality is good. Unit is a little bulky. Battery time is great. I'd buy again. Hope they come out with a smaller model.

Customer Reviews:
Avoid these like the plague.......2007-12-05
I purchased the blue JVC Marshmallows from another retailer to replace the iPhone earbuds I have, which I find uncomfortable.
The verdict for the JVC Marshmallows? Horrible. These headphones lack depth, clarity and bass. The JVCs particularly suffer in the midrange/upper bass region. By comparison, my iPhone earbuds, along with other inexpensive headphones I own, sounded lush, and multi-dimensional. It is not an exaggeration to say that these headphones sound like they are playing in mono.
I had trouble accepting that headphones from a reputable brand like JVC could sound this bad, so I gave JVC the benefit of the doubt and assumed that the first pair was defective. I exchanged them for another pair, and tried them out, only to hear the same tinny, lackluster sound.
Please note, I am not comparing these headphones to more expensive ones which may cost two, three or five times as much as the JVCs. Quite simply, the JVCs are terrible by any standard, in any price range.
this is why you should spend more.......2007-12-05
These earbuds are alright, but they aren't any better than the headphones i got with my iriver - the only advantage is that they block out sound. if i push them against my ear, they sound better, which leads me to believe that my ear canal is too small for the earbuds. my suggestion is that you should only buy an earbud if it's supplied with different sizes (e.g. sennheiser 300).
Fantastic if you don't mind wearing ear plugs!.......2007-11-30
I've tried many headphones searching for the perfect study pair, and these Marshmallows definitely take the cake, even over headphones four times the price. These headphones keep your music in and external noise out, which truly makes them ideal for studying. As a physics major I spend a lot of my time on campus in math labs, where distractions must be minimized. These headphones help ensure that I can't hear anything other than the music (which isn't a distraction for me) while also letting me rest assured that they cannot hear my music, even at loud settings.
I would also imagine this would be beneficial on a bus or plane, although I do not use them for that purpose.
Their sound reproduction capabilities are average. They're $10 headphones, and you get $10 headphones. It's the unmatched sound-isolation that make these buds phenomenal.
Okay for the price.......2007-11-02
I bought these for about 12 bucks and I wouldn't pay more than that for them. They're a step up from the standard iPhone buds which wouldn't stay in my ears, but if you're looking for quality then pay a little more for a better pair. The feedback is awful. Everytime the cord moves you hear it.
Amazon sucks!.......2007-11-01
After placing this order, which was clearly stated in-stock, Amazon actually never shipped it to me. They have the tracking number and everything, but when I called UPS, they said that Amazon never called them to pick-up the merchandize yet. I was told that Amazon wants to wait for the palette to be full before having shippping company picking the entire palette (?).
Anyhow, this is the 2nd time this happened to me, and I wouldn't be surprised if it happened to other Amazon customers, too. More than 6 months ago, I ordered two T-mobile phones and had the same problem. In both times, when I called, all they can do is apologizing.
I myself a long time customer of Amazon, but I've decided not to buy from this company anymore. There's nothing more frustrating than guessing when you would get the thinngs you've paid for.
This company used to be my #1 choice, but it sucks big time nowadays. Beware when you order!

no problem.......2007-12-21
bought these because the pair i had before broke in two. found the exact same model online here at amazon. it's a great price and a the headphones have a very good depth to them. i got the shipment prompt and i'm very happy with the experience of dealing with amazon on this and other purchases that i have had in the past.
Good Headphones - Don't Buy For Noise Cancelling.......2007-12-18
Good headphones - sound quality is good, but don't buy them for the noise cancelling feature, which doesn't seem to make much difference. The folding aspect is a little awkward at times and they stick out a lot from your head, but otherwise they are good.
great product.......2007-12-09
I thought this was a great product for the money. I read about it in Consumer Reports. That is why I bought it. Lives up to it's reputation.
I can't even use these!.......2007-10-20
I didn't buy these because of the noise canceling feature. Since I'm often home alone with my son I just wanted the noise level muffled so the fact that I can still hear what's going on in my surroundings doesn't bother me and yes I absolutely hate earbuds!
However, I have noticed that as comfortable as these headphones appear to be they put pressure on your ears so that if you wear glasses it does hurt after about a half an hour. Also I had an eardrum rupture several years ago and have never noticed a problem with headphones because of it until now... after about an hour I have a throbbing pain from wearing these. Looks like it's back to wearing the cheapo headphones for me :(
Great product for the price.......2007-10-02
The JVC HANC80 folding headphones worked very well. They fit my daughter's (age 26) head very well and are comfortable. The sound was crystal clear and she is very pleased with them. She has only used them in a fairly quite area, so I can't speak to the noise cancelling component. A good value for the price.

Awful product and customer service.......2007-12-10
We bought this camcorder after the birth of our first son. Fifteen months later it stopped working out of the blue. We sent it to the authorized service center and were told that the main board was corroded. They said the reason for the corrosion was possibly humidity or long-term water leak. We are absolutely certain that the camcorder did not get any water. JVC's customer service was a joke - they did not even respond to our complaint. We basically lost $500 by buying this product because we used it only for 15 months. We will never buy another JVC product again. EVER.

Super small, meets my needs well........2007-10-14
I use this camera for recording my daughters' gymnastics and basketball/volleyball events. Works great and I can just throw it in my digital camera bag. As stated in other reviews, the still camera feature is OK, but not great. Fine in a pinch.
Unfortunately, the thing that makes it so sweet (compact size) also works against it, if only slightly. For any man with man-sized hands, this camera will be slightly difficult to operate. When your right hand is holding the camera through the grip, your fingers and thumb will extend past the button positions. You'll have to bend your fingers to work the controls. Because of this, starting and stopping the recording feature is sure to introduce a little shake into the video. Use your other hand to steady the camera or use a monopod. Very much a keeper as far as I'm concerned.
Because each recording creates a different file on the enclosed HDD, be sure to stop and start the recording more than you might on other tape-driven cameras.
Windows Media Player will play the .MOD files created with this camera. Windows Movie Maker (included with Vista) will also read these files and allow you to easily add text and transitions. A utility mentioned in another review, SDCopy Beta available from Sektionschef, is a must if you record at 16x9. It's the only way I've been able to set the 16x9 flag on the files and have them play back in the proper format.
Windows Movie Maker will also rotate the video if you take it vertically instead of horizontally.
Using the dock to transfer files to my PC is a snap. It also charges the battery (but not at the same time as the file transfer). Camera must be switched ON for file transfer, OFF for battery charge.
VERY happy with this purchase.
JVC Everior GAMG255.......2007-10-11
Please read the other detailed reviews here....my review is more for MAC users.
For MAC users....This product works best with iLife '08. Clip in the firewire or usb and open iLife '08 and the clips start downloading - very simple. You can find a way to make it work with '06 but it involves changing the MPEG-2 formats (.mod files) over to a viewable format on your MAC. You can download DVdownload or Streamclip to make this happen, but it is convoluted.
Other than that, this is a fantastic camera. The quality of the still photos are great and even on the lowest setting the digital movie shots are crisp. It's light, its clean and simple. I looked at the Sony, Panasonic and other JVC hard drive camcorders - this one, hands down, is the top of the heap (for the money). Looking for a good hard drive camcorder - look no further!

Bad Sound Quality.......2007-12-13
I am very disappointed in the sound quality, am actually looking to re-sell the system. This machine can produce enough volume to be painful in close range, but (at least in the large gymnasium where I tried it) the volume drops very quickly as you move further away. And I don't know exactly how to describe it, but the sound is not satisfying - it's like some range of tones is missing. Yes, there's bass, and you can hear the overall piece that's being played, but the nuance in the middle just isn't there. Have you ever eaten food that's beautiful but tastes like nothing? This is the sonic equivalent.

IF YOU LIKE CLEAR DEEP BASE THEN THIS IS FOR YOU. THE ONLY BAD THING ABOUT IT IS THAT BEING A PORTABLE RADIO/CD. IT SOUNDS ONLY HALF AS GOOD WHEN USED WITH BATTERIES.I HAVE TWO OF THESE AN OLDER ONE & THIS ONE.

Best product for a great price! Perfect sound for the room we were using. A little disappointed with the shipping. I paid quite a bit for expedited shipping, as I needed it within the week. For approx $60, I expected it to arrive sooner than 5 days.
best portable sound anywhere.......2007-08-15
All I can say is "excellent". Did not receive manual, but wasn't necessary
as I owned an original cassette based model from 1998. It lasted 9 years in the dusty environment of a cabinet shop. This new I-pod based unit is equal in everyway. Some peolple don't realize that there is a secondary battery carriage behind the large batteries that powers the memory unit when in "off" or "standby" mode. They are AA or AAA, I don't remember.
Don't hesitate.....this is a smart purchase. Pete
Loud & Proud.......2007-08-01
I work for a large grocery store chain as a night grocery stocker. When my son asked what I wanted for father's day, I told him a boombox loud enough to cut through space & background noise of the store I worked at. As you may or may not be aware, most "boom" boxes have been majorly downsized for one reason or another. Finding a decent large one is nigh on impossible. He did his research online and found the most amazing box I've ever heard.
On the down side is it's size. It appears rather like a golf bag than a boombox. It carries 15 batteries (10 Ds & 5 AAs) & it weighs a ton (my wife says she can't even lift it). When slung over your shoulder, it is very awkward going though doorways & such.
On the upside, It's as exactly as advertised. "KABOOM" is the perfect name. It has no tweeters & with it's design it apparently needed none. The small foward firing 2&1/2" speakers are full range & with an apparent cutoff of all low frequencies, it does soaring highs & smooth midrange with no apparent effort. The side firing woofers are a real treat. The unit has quad amplification. That means each specific speaker has it's own amplifier.
Needless to say, this unit is absolutely perfect for my needs. It sounds just as good from the rear as it does from the front. It carries sound through the entire store at which I work & completely dominates the crappy elevator music piped in to the store (an extremely large grocery store).
As far as sound, I'll tell you this. My co-workers get angry with me if I leave it at home. The managers are always asking to 'borrow' it instead of telling me to leave it at home. The unit volume goes up to 50 & on some music, you can take it all the way up & leave it there (example: Pulse/Live/Pink Floyd). The fact that it plays mp3s as well as normal cds frees me from even having to change discs though the eight hours of shift.
The unit also works fine in my car. It does not mention motion memory but apparently has some because it works flawless in my car as no other boombox I've ever owned did because of skipping. It does have an optional car adapter but I have purchased a 12volt d/c to 110 volt a/c converter & just plug it straight in just like the house/store.
I do warn anyone who purchases this unit that it will 'EAT' batteries like crazy because of the amperage of the amps in the unit. So I just keep in plugged in at all times. Besides, you don't have to be right next to this one to hear it clearly.
I rate it a 10 on the 10 scale a dare anyone to claim even half as good on quality regardless of cost (self contained all in ones only). If you're a true audiophile, this is the one you've always wanted but couldn't find.
