A spindle of DVD-Rs / 100 pack / Up to 16x speed burning
Customer Reviews:
Very dependable and Inexpensive.......2007-12-12
After trying several other DVD Blank media and experiencing unsatisfactory results, I decided to try two other DVD blank media, Memorex and TDK DVD Electronics. I was satisfied with Memorex for a time but found the cost of this blank media had risen considerably..so I switched to TDK DVD blank media to try. After I purchased the TDK Electronics DVD 100 Pack Blank Media Spindle, I have had no problems in the short time I was using this product. If I continue to experience no problems, I will definitely rely on TDK Blank media because I find it dependable and the price is substantially lower than most other DVD blank media which I was buying here at Amazon. If you're like me and want to invest in good quality DVD blank media that meets today's low cost spending, then I suggest TDK Electronics. In any event, Amazon continues to give the customer a variety of great deals and free shipping.
Certain results.......2007-12-11
I enjoy making slideshow DVDs of the digital pictures we take of our travels and sharing them with family and friends. Many were having trouble playing them and I was talking with a very knowledgable friend who sells Video DVD's he makes and he told me he only uses TDK and has little or no complaints, soooo I tried them. They work great... I wouldn't change!!
Lost easily 33% of discs............2007-12-05
I thought that since these were TDK and people seem to rave about them they would be a worthy purchase. Wrong. Think again. From what I can read online of people's reviews of these discs- they either work REALLY well for some people, or REALLY poorly for others. I bought one spindle of these because they were on sale, and figured that it was at a price I just couldn't pass up. I wish I had, in retrospect.
The first five discs I burned? Lost THREE of them. By the time I finished the spindle, I had lost a whopping 35 discs to random burn errors. It always seemed to occur within the same area of the disc, leading me to believe it was more disc error than software/hardware. I could take the TDK disc that failed out and put in another brand and the same data would burn to completion. It always seemed that the discs either failed right at about half way done or right at about 90% done.
I won't be bothering with this poor quality discs again. I've had cheap off brand discs work better than these did.
Tons of defectives.......2007-12-04
I bought this just to back up the data I have on my two external HDs (500 + 400 gig), and I've ran through about 30 burns today. Unfortunately about 8-9 of those have not finalized or have just failed, a porous rate. Avoid if you can.
The Big Fib: Your Amazon Order Has Shipped.......2007-12-03
I have only one ongoing issue with Amazon.com: They lie about when they really ship items.
This has been an issue I've tried to resolve time after time with Amazon. Finally I've accepted that if you choose SuperSaver Shipping (free shipping) then don't expect the items to really ship until several days later. Forget even thinking that they'll ship sooner than 5 days. They will not.
Amazon will tell you they did. But the truth will usually be that Amazon just fibbed to you. Take my last order as an example that is representative of all my Amazon orders over the past three years:
Amazon Emailed me that my order had shipped on 11/29/07.
The freight company (the post office in this case) didn't actually receive the product until 12/2/07--three business days after Amazon reported they'd shipped the order.
Here are two lines of detail from the post office's tracking website about this shipment:
Processed, December 02, 2007, 10:17 am, ATLANTA, GA 30369
Electronic Shipping Info Received, November 29, 2007
I've had almost the same exact thing happen to more than 10 of my most recent orders with Amazon.
Shame on Amazon for lying to us.

Customer Reviews:
Excellent.......2007-12-25
My friends and I have our own small production studio and we've literally gone through hundreds of these. Out of all of them, only one "coaster". That's a heck of a good track record.
not TDK.......2007-12-06
These are only TDK branded, made by Daxon. Media code Daxon AZ3. Those expecting TDK quality, prepare to be let down. I've had better luck with HP and CompUSA branded media.
Reliable.......2007-11-22
Delivered on time. A huge amount of discs for my backups. It really worked at 16x. It only takes less than 6 minutes to burn a full capacity DVD
Worked every time, good playback.......2007-11-12
Maybe I just got lucky - I'm not sure why these got such bad reviews. I am on my second spindle of these and I have yet to have a bad DVD. Great, especially for the price!
TDK is AOK!.......2007-11-02
The requirements for my use are basic. I've been using TDK DVD's (and CD's for that matter) for several years. I've screwed some of 'em up but I've never had a defect. Cant ask for more than that! (Well, I probably could but I wouldn't get it...)

Customer Reviews:
Works great with my recorder.......2007-12-20
I have burned over 300 of these brand of blank DVDs which should speak volumes. Sure there are a few duds in the pack, but I am more willing to acknowledge that as a hardware issue than a software one. I am perfectly happy with the quality of the discs and when I record HD programming from my DirecTV HD DVR I get discs with content that is extremely close (read barely notice the difference) to HD themselves.
Recommended.
Memorex DVDs, An Excellent Product.......2007-12-12
I don't know why people have a problem with these DVDs. I have used three 100-pack spindles and am ordering the fourth. I have yet to find the first DVD that was bad. They work just great with my equipment, which is standard low-tech stuff. I have also used approximately 500 Memorex music CDs with similar results. Memorex is an excellent product in my book, and I will keep using them until they prove otherwise to me. Memorex 16X DVD-R (100-Pack Spindle)
Blank DVD +/- R's.......2007-11-30
The best, and at a very good price. All blank media is NOT the same; there are real differences in recordability (instance of recording errors), compatability, clarity, etc. I've tried several brands, and Memorex is just the best -- without being the most expensive.
16x coaster.......2007-11-16
Pay attention to the reviews here. These discs do not work. I got about 1 out of 10 to work using 2 different DVD writers.
Price is right on.......2007-10-25
Just try to find this many DVD's that are write ables anywhere else for the same price locally was foolish. They work like a charm albeit I am just spinning 8x not the full 16x speed as described but they burn great so far. Not sure if I will ever need any more than 100 DVD's but who knows?!?
Average customer rating:
- I'll never use this!
- 7.96GB, not 8.5GB
- Made in INDIA or SINGAPORE?
- Not working with a Sony drive
- no coasters so far

Customer Reviews:
I'll never use this!.......2007-12-26
Almost half of the total package was failed to burn on my Pioneer dvd+R writer.
I didn't have any problem with Sony medias before.
Don't even try this junk.
7.96GB, not 8.5GB.......2007-12-16
Tried a few so far (with Nero) and it worked fine. The only negative thing noticed is that the size of the disk reported by both the operating system and the DVD recorder is 7.96G, not 8.5G as advertized.
Made in INDIA or SINGAPORE?.......2007-12-09
It seems that Verbatim NOW is manufacturing 2.4x DLs in INDIA, which results in POOR QUALITY DISCS. Made in Singapore discs are the best. Does anybody know where is this batch from Amazon made?
Not working with a Sony drive.......2007-12-06
The first five of five disks failed with a Sony DRU-810A drive. They may be fine disks, but they don't work with my equipment. Switching back to Memorex disks solved the problem.
no coasters so far.......2007-11-28
I've used a number of brands of blank media, and I've definitely had more problems with other brands than i have had with verbatim. I never seem to get coasters from these discs, compared to having had at least 1/5 of my discs from other brands turn out to be useless. One thing though: I burn at pretty low speeds (like x2 or x4) just to be careful, so I can't really say how they work at v. high speed burning, but they've been great for me.
Product Description
Now you can create, edit and archive home movies and digital photos while storing and accessing data from one disc. DVD+R discs capture all digital data brilliantly and are large enough to hold oversized digital movie files.
Customer Reviews:
Don't even try at 16x.......2007-09-15
I bought a 16x compatible spindle, have to burn at 8x or even 4x on 2 different PCs/burners. Next time I will stick with Memorex and TDK.
Always test compatibility before buying bulk!.......2007-08-30
For the last few years I have always bought these DVD+Rs. I've probably bought a dozen spindles and I've never had a problem. Some of the other reviewers have mentioned needing to throw an entire spindle away and I don't recall throwing more than an occasional disc away. Of course, if you've burned discs of any sort you'll know that regardless of brand you're going to produce the occasional "coaster."
That being said, it's important to realise that recordable drives and discs are similar to people in terms of compatibility. By that I mean that one type of disc may be in true love with a certain drive, but absolutely loathe another. Even if you've had great success with a certain brand of discs, you may not have the same success if you change drives.
My sincere recommendation is that you start small. Buy a few single discs or perhaps a ten pack until you're confident that the discs are working well with your drive. Then, you can start buying the 50 and 100 spindles. Sure, you may lose the "bulk discount" for the one or two "test" discs but you're saving yourself from losing an entire spindle of possibly incompatible discs.
EXCELLENT DISCS.......2007-07-21
I burn roughly 50 DVD's a month for work projects. I've gone through two 100 piece spindles with only one coaster. For playback on home theater DVD players, these have proven the most reliable of any brand out there. I typically burn videos at 4X, but these have worked perfectly at 8X and 16X. If you've found your HP Lighscribe drive a bit finiky with other brands, the Sony's have been 100% in both of mine. I'd put them in my top 3 choices for DVD media along with TDK and HP.
many bad discs.......2007-06-17
I have had skips and stalls on almost all of the dvds in this pack so far. I previously had a 100 pack of memorex and they were great. I wouldn't buy these sony dvd's again
dvd disc.......2007-05-14
DVD machine purchased was not compatible, and the discs were rendered unusable. I opened the spindle bundle and felt I couldn't return the discs.

Good product.......2007-12-25
I bought an Epson RX680 printer, then started shopping for printable DVDs. This HP is the first I've tried and I selected it because HP is pretty reliable and this was the best unit cost I could find, because other sources charge for shipping. I'm getting beautiful print jobs with this printer and these discs. I've printed about 50 so far. One of the discs was defective on the "burn" side, so 4 stars.
good item, good price.......2007-12-07
these are good, they have failed less than other brands ive tried so far, the print surface takes well. the only thing i wish is that i could take advantage of the fact that even the inner ring of the disc that is typically clear plastic is covered in printable surface, but this is no fault of the disc but of my printer. ;)
HP Makes a superior Product.......2007-11-24
I have tried just about every DVD-R and DVD+R on the market. I have used cut rate brands that performed well in some batches, then suddenly fell to a 30% failure rate. Some of the name brands have not been much better, suffering failure rates more than 10% in some batches. I have found HP DVD-R disks to be among the best available on the market, with a failure rate less than 2% on every batch I have used thus far. One feature I like is HP's printable surface, which extends all the way to the hub, allowing full face labeling. You'll find them in the used/new listing at around $30/100, an unbeatable price.
Product Description
DVD+R DL discs are write-once and burn at 2 depths on 1 side of the disc. Capable of storing up to 8.5 GB of data and approximately 240 minutes of video playback using existing DVD players. Allows the storage of long length programming, sporting events and video footage on 1 disc (an additional 120 minutes more than regular DVD's!).
Customer Reviews:
Excellent material.......2007-10-04
I have used a bunch of dual layers before (video work). There are (slightly) cheaper ones but after half a spindle fails the verification you wish you had bought something else.
I *always* archive my material using verify, i.e. checking to make sure the disk is readable. I cannot recall a single instance where this was not the case for Memorex material. Similar things can be said about Ritek but last time I check Ritek was more expensive.
I generally now shop for deals on Memorex only. There is always some sort of sale going on somewhere but a number of times I have found Amazon (or its associates) to beat out others.
I strongly recommend this stuff if you do not want to be plagued with incompatibilities (such as your DVD player refusing to play the disk you just wrote and verified on a computer as has happened to me before).
Excellent Media.......2007-09-01
I have bought 2 of these 50 dics spindles and have only had one failure (so far... I still have about 18 left from the 2nd package). Excellent value.
My only gripe is that the area for writing is comprised of 2 small 1 line wraparound areas on the top and bottom of the disc and therefore the amount of information easily writable on the disc using a Sharpie medium is somewhat small.
Still a great deal, and at this price, its worth the loss of a bit of writing area.
E.
Great media too bad is only 2.4x.......2007-08-23
I had no problem using this media. I have used memorex 16x 4.5gb without a single problem and I thought this 8.5GB could be as reliable as the 4.5gb, I was right, I have two drives LG and SONY and this media work fine on both. I hope faster 8.5gb to be in the market soon. It takes between 35 and 40 minutes to burn one disc at 2.4x
Memorex quality still an issue.......2007-08-07
Despite my aversion to Memorex DVDs (based on prior experience), I elected to give the brand another try with the dual layer/double density DVDs. Unfortunately, I am getting the same results: DVDs that may or may not burn accurately. I have burned perhaps 12 of these, and I would estimate that 5 had serious errors. The results are that some are unplayable, while others are so fraught with artifacts, pixelations and freezes, they are not worth watching. Not only is this a waste of money, it is a waste of copying time.
I do not understand well enough the process by which DVDs are burned. However, it appears that the DVDs encounter most of their problems toward the end of the burn (i.e., the edge of the DVD). It may be that the material that records the data falls off in quality toward the edges. That is merely speculation, but the end result (a high failure rate) is a fact.
To dispel any notion that it might be my burner (a new Phillips 16x/4x dual layer/double-density burner), you should know that I can compress and copy the same material onto a Verbatim 4.7 GB DVD without incident.
From the other reviews, it appears that my experience may be isolated. Fair enough. But I have had enough poor experiences with Memorex DVDs to avoid buying them for the near future. I am still hopeful they can produce (or purchase) a more consistent, higher quality product. This is not it.
fine stuff.......2007-07-21
The only bad disks I've ever had here, after three orders, are those I've accidentally made myself. I keep buying them.

TDK DVD-R Failure.......2007-11-06
I introduced the first disc of the 25 units spindle in my SONY VIDEO CASSETTE RECORDER/DVD RECORDER and I received the message:"The disc cannot be recorded nor played".It was rejected by the machine which was bought for.
It has a good price but unusable.
Works Great In My Mac.......2007-03-22
These disks work great in my PowerBook and in my Philips DVD Recorder. My older DVD Recorder doesn't recognize them as recordable or playable though. Equipment manufacturers have apparently not agreed to any standards.
Frustrating, time wasting product........2006-03-16
Having used TDK (non DVD disks) for many years, based on this past experience, I purchased 2, YES TWO, spindles, 50 DISKS. A disasterous decision. If any would be purchase of these disks would like to experience, computer crash, DVD drive lock-up, multiple and incorrect information about individual disks (disk empty, disk full, cannot read disk, unkown format, windows incompatible disk) then purchase these. After wasting time on 10 of the disks, I eventually salvaged 2. The remaining 48, into the garbage. The rating for these TDK disks should be -5, that's minus 5!!!!
Improperly named!.......2005-07-20
While I'm sure this is a great DVD+RW product (my computers works great with it), it is NOT a DVD-RW. The "-" and "+" specify the format and often determine how it can be used.
I bought these specifically to be used with my DVD-RW video recorder, which incidentally can't use DVD+RW, so this was a waste of money for me. The product even has "DVD-RW" printed right on each DVD, even though it's a "DVD+RW" product.
I'm very unhappy about having spent money on the wrong product because these guys can't label their product correctly.
Works with Panasonic DMR-ES10.......2005-06-09
Works flawlessly with ES10 DVD Recorder, same design (grey color) as jewel cased 5-pk TDK 4X also bought from Amazon.com. Unfortunately, neither is made in Japan, but OEMed in Taiwan.
