The Sony Portable DVD Player.......2007-12-15
PROS: All of the accessories that come with this DVD player are great the remote is cool. The swivel screen is very cool to i like how you can play cds and mp3 and all that kind of goodness. The two headphone jacks, the a/v in and out options is nice with the hook up to a tv set or monitor is a great idea too.
CONS: This Machine is very good all round the only downside to it is the picture quality. What I mean by that is that the LCD screen is liney what i mean by that is that you can notice the vertical line (at least I do). The other thing that i noticed is that you have to have the screen in the direction of you otherwise it looks as though the picture is too dark or whatever.
Sony DVPFX810R.......2007-12-14
I love my sony DVPFX810R. The swivel screen is great. This versatile player is compatible with the following media formats: DVD, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD, CD-R/RW, and MP3 and I have had no problem with any of hte formats so far. My only complaint would be the battery life.

A very good buy........2007-12-06
Bought this for xmass for my son and family to use on long trips. I will have to see how good it is after xmass. Came fast and looks very nice. Happy Holliday's.
***NOT IN STOCK***.......2007-12-02
This unit is not in stock and is not shipping. I have had my shipment delayed 4 times with no guarantee of receiving before Christmas. If you are ordering as a Christmas gift, do not order from Amazon. I have purchased many items from them and they have been terrible with this order and only after 4 delays they now tell me this item is backordered. I think it is only fair potential buyers know this before ordering. If I get my unit I will update this review. My original order was back on November 17th and I still do not have it and no date given after multiple discussions with customer service.

Let's just say I love my home-theater system. That said, I hate all those remote controls. There's one for TV, one for the sound system, one for the DVD recorder, one for my old VCR, and one for cable-TV. Sometimes it's a frustrating challenge to figure out which is which. What a pain! A new Sony Remote Control comes to the rescue! Exciting and convenient, the RM-VL600 controls up to 8 components, and with the One-touch system control, synchronizing operational status on remote and alternate components is done with ease. Also a Learning function for programming from other remotes. Being in the driver's seat of your living room sofa is made easy with the RM-VL600 Remote Control from Sony. Uses 2 AA Alkaline Batteries for up to 1-year operation Dual beem for longer distance Memory back-up DVD menu Picture in Picture PIP control where applicable

Brilliant when set up.......2007-12-27
It's sensibly laid out with buttons covering a large range of functions so you don't have to remember where you programmed things.
The touch sensitive remotes aren't all that good because you don't actually 'press' a button. Having used both I agree with that. A good feature of this remote is that the function flashes to when you press a button to let you know which appliance you are controlling. It also 'merges' control between controls so, say if you only want to control the volume of the TV, don't program the volume with anything else and it will only control the TV volume, whatever the control surface you are using. (Hope that makes sense).
Set up is OK, but you should pre-plan which button is going where and also identify which things you actually use on your old remote. If you do that before you start the setup, you'll be fine.
The programmable system control buttons aren't that good. They don't have a duration control for how long the signal is sent so my Panasonic TV won't turn on because the signal it receives isn't transmitted long enough for it to react which means I still have to turn the TV on then select AV then change to CBL for the digital box which is a bit of a drag. Having said that it's so much better having one remote instead of four.
Definitely recommend.
Good remote for the money.......2007-12-18
Works as advertised and easy to program. Great for consolidating multiple remotes into one for use with a home theater system.
What a pleasure.......2007-12-17
This is terrific. It hardly worked right with any of my devices just by entering the code, but once programmed with its learning capability (which is VERY simple to do) it works like a charm and controls everything, even the most obscure functions. Just terrific. Don't pay 5 times the price for something that will do no more that this. My only complaint is that it is not backlit, which means you have to navigate by touch in the darkness.
Oh, I forgot to add that Amazon's price is terrific too.
Great moderately priced remote.......2007-12-14
This remote is perfect for my system. It is a step up from the similarly priced One for All remote we had before. We just have a TV, VCR, DVD player, and 5.1 Surround System, and this remote handles all of the functions very well. It is extremely easy to program, the learning function works well, and the remote feels very nice in your hand (it feels solid).
Great remote for the price.......2007-12-11
Not only are all your remotes reduced to one, all that previous button pushing is history, too. The 'learning' function is a snap to figure out. Here's my 'time for bed' example: one press of a system control button turns off the TV and DVD player, turns on the satellite receiver, tunes into preferred satellite station, tunes amp to satellite band and selects amp sleep mode. Nighty-night!
Ergonomically, it could benefit from a more rounded base; it would be more comfortable to hold. Aside from that minor quibble this remote is a very good bargain.

amazing Camera.......2007-12-26
This is the absolute best camera ever!!
I luv the touch screen and the shutter is so fast and the colors look exactly like what you are taking a photo of.
Camera..Just ok.......2007-12-26
I got this camera a few weeks ago, I was very excited to receive it. The touch screen works pretty well, no problems with that. The battery life is lousy. Maybe 50-75 photos, maybe. My canon SD630 lasted double or triple that. The photos look fine, nothing amazing. The camera is a bit bulky and I'm probably going to return it. Not thrilled. I give it a 6.5 out of 10.

Beware: terrible pictures, wasted reputation.......2007-12-26
I've used a DSC T-1 for nearly four years, and Nikon, Minolta, and Canon for four, three and two respectively. I was enamored with the T-1 even for serious pictures. Naturally when the T-1 finally gave in I went for the latest Sony mini, the DSC T-200. I didn't read the reports because of the good experience I've had with the T-1. What a disappointment! The pictures are grainy, noisy and with poor definition. Period, full stop. That is what picture taking is about. At first I couldn't believe it so I placed the pictures next to old ones from the T-1, the Nikon, Minolta and Canon. Not even close. Then I read other reports. Almost half of the new users report the same problem. And as if it isn't expensive enough, you still have to spend extra for basic attachments like a stand to charge the battery while in the camera! Oh why, tell why Sony did you throw out the window such a good reputation, and with an otherwise well designed product? As soon as the Xmas return rush slows down I'll be taking mine back.
Only 10 mins of continuous video!.......2007-12-21
I just bought the cybershot DSC-T200 because my husband really likes his T100, so I thought why not go for the upgrade. I can't believe what a poor product it is! The screen was scratched almost immediately, and for some reason they've greatly decreased the continuous video recording time to 10 mins. I've taken 35 min long videos with my husband's T100, but this one just cuts off at 10 mins. Sony was no help at all. Luckily, Amazon has excellent customer service and will take back this piece of junk. Also, the usability is bad. Even just one usability test might improve this thing. And on top of that, the Sony Cybershot AC adapter I bought doesn't fit it!
LOVE IT!!!.......2007-12-21
My father gave me this camera for christmas..and just after five minutes of playing with it I'm in love...the screen is HUGE!!, not to mention it's a touch screen. It has everything; face recognition, super steady shot. The detail in the zoom is amazing. It has so many different options, taking one picture, or continuous pictures with the hold of the shutter button.
I was so amazed when I tried to take a picture of a TV screen. The picture wasn't fuzzy or blurred like most cameras. The TV picture was perfect. In my mind this is the BEST camera on the market.

Full of features and tons of fun!.......2007-12-26
I enjoy photos of birds and wildlife, so better optical zoom makes it easier to get the image I want without scaring the critters away. I still have to work on being fast enough to get quality photos of birds in flight, but the sports mode helps with moving critters, people on bikes, etc. I've also taken exceptional night photos of Christmas lights with only a monopod.
The camera has difficulty detecting faces if the people aren't caucasian, so face detection of black people isn't reliable. I'm disappointed in this oversight but with other subjects I love the clear photos and the prints have met my expectations up to 11x14.
The Sony rechargeable battery lasts longer than I anticipated. I have not yet had the battery die during any event. I always take a spare battery with me, but I haven't yet used it for a single event, even for several hours.
The macro and flash buttons are in different places than on my DSC W7, but with more time and practice, I can learn. With the quality automatic modes I can still operate the camera without too much difficulty while wearing gloves. This may be more difficult for those with large hands - mine are slender.
With all the features packed into this camera, I hate to leave home without it because it's ready to go in mere seconds and multiple images of a subject is easy with little delay. I recommend buying at least a 2G Memory Stick Pro Duo. Also, wear comfortable shoes when out for a walk with this camera. Time flies, but your feet will suffer. I look forward to spring when my flowers are in bloom and the butterflies and bees visit.
Awesome in the jungle!.......2007-12-24
I bought this camera specifically to capture (photographically!) monkeys, macaws, and toucans during a vacation in Costa Rica. With the 15x zoom and SteadyCam, it performed beyond my expectations. A definite "two thumbs up" as a high end digital!
Never buy from this seller again!.......2007-12-18
I actually bought the camera with a 2GB kit from Butterfly Photo. I don't have anything to say about the camera but a lot about the seller . First, the shipping came with two items missing, the memory card reader, and the cleaning kit. We call them to inform them about that, they tried to persuade us telling us that it was Amazon fault, but since we didn't give up, they finally shipped the missing items. Soon to realize that the memory card reader they sent us does not fit at all with the memory card of the camera!!!! I am still trying to talk to someone that can take any responsibility on that. Moreover, the memory card is defective, giving error messages here and there. When we started looking for some info about it, we found out that the memory card was actually fake!!!!! In Amazon there is a guide that explains you how to tell real memory cards from fake ones. I would suggest that you read that first before trusting any buyer. The real ones are supposed to come with the memory card adapter (this one didn't) and the package is totally different (We went to Best Buy to confirm these). Moreover, the tripod they sell in the package is very low quality. I am now wondering if the camera actually does not have some defects also...
I would suggest to get this camera from another seller
SONY: usually good, but NOT this time........2007-12-17
Seriously pay attention to the critiques from others who have rated this camera as poor. Check also the internet, there is an outstanding review by a man who has not reviewed cameras in 40 years, but had to write about his H9s. I bought mine through a large electronics-store's auction site, (should have been suspicious, about so many available). It was not full price, but frankly should have been even cheaper, (100 bucks tops.)
The short of it is this: H9 has some very cool features, and seems to do a very nice job with close-up nature pix. BUT, overall the picture quality is poor for an "8mp" camera, and worse than cameras with fewer MPs. (I have read too that it actually uses a 5mp sensor.) The important thing to note is that I also own an Olympus Camedia D-595 ,(5mp),which takes better pix overall, (clearer, crisper detail). The H9 really fails in low lighting conditions, and has an unacceptable loss of detail with medium, to long shots, (gets blotchy, like an oil-painting, particularly in the dark areas). This was my first Sony camera, and based on its performance, I cannot forsee ever buying another Sony camera. (Love their TVs, VERY disappointed with the H9.) I do not understand why a company like Sony, with a good name, associated with quality, would allow a poor product like the H9 to represent them.
best camera.......2007-12-07
best camera i have ever had only down side is there is very little warning that your battery is going low

Nice point and shoot camera.......2007-12-21
Nice camera. In good lighting it produces high-quality pictures. Not perfect in low light with the settings I've used so far. I will have to try some different settings to see if I can improve them. The LCD is nice and large, and the camera has good battery life.
Christmas gift.......2007-12-18
Thanks so much for your prompt delivery. This is a perfect Christmas gift for my son!!
picture lover.......2007-12-14
This camera was purchased to replace my sony that was recently stolen. It is an upgrade from my previous camera and does everthing I need it to do. I like the fact that it doesn't take very much to figure out and the result is great pics.
the only problem is blurriness.......2007-12-13
This camera so far is the nicest one
But like all other the blurriness is an issue
And also slow
But it's very colorful and when the camera decided it takes nice great sharp pictures but not much only when the camera wants to.
The camera I was looking for ...........2007-12-13
I received this camera yesterday and I have been taking pictures ever since and they're all stunning how clear they all turn out . This camera is a far cry from my old 4 mega pixel canon (that ate batteries) that I have had for close to 4 years so it done it's job and then but earlier this week I focused on finding the right camera for me as a gift to myself (better to give then receive) and I searched and searched and finally this camera won me over on size , 199.99 price tag , size of screen , 8.1 mega pixels , capture videos 30fps and most importantly battery life and brand name . If you're someone who struggles with how to work your basic electronics then I would say give this camera a try , it's pretty straight forward on screen menus make it easy to use for anyone .

Outstandin Digital Zoom Camera.......2007-12-25
This camera is an outstanding digital camera. The zoom is all that I expected and more. All the features are exceptional for a camera of this price. I even give it an excellent when comparing when it with my digital SLR camera.
Great pictures, easy to use.......2007-11-28
I chose the cybershot for the 15X zoom, and for the sports mode. So far the camera has been terrific. Easy to use, and the zoom is great. The pictures have been excellent, and almost always in focus. I especially like that there is no delay between pushing the button and the actual shooting of the photo.
Great photos, but you'll need more than the camera.......2007-11-18
Although the "flat" Cybershot I bought three years ago still takes great photos, and can still fit in my pocket, its fatal flaw--a screen which becomes useless in bright sunlight--led me to buy this model, which has an electronic "viewfinder" which can be seen in any light. The photos I've taken so far are terrific.
Other mechanical aspects are amazing: the hand-hold is very comfortable and secure, the camera body is light and easy to handle (so light that it feels like a toy until you realize what great photos you're getting), and the viewfinder can be focused, with just enough difficulty that it won't adjust inadvertently.
Unfortunately, the charger which comes with the camera requires five hours to charge the battery (which must be removed to do so). This didn't bother me much until I started reading the "Accessories" folder while I was waiting for it to charge so I could start playing with the camera, and learned that a charger is available at additional cost which will charge the battery in ninety minutes. This should be included with a camera costing more than three hundred dollars!
Similarly, the camera's internal memory isn't sufficient to take more than a few pictures, so to use the camera you will immediately need to purchase "accessory" memory. (While you're at it, given the time it takes to charge a battery, you probably want to buy another battery, too).
(It's been so long that a camera came with even a rudimentary case that I won't even list that deficiency. I consider myself lucky that a strap, lens hood, and lens cap are included!)
DSC-H7 .......2007-10-31
I've owned the camera for 3 months, have taken very good quality pictures. Am impressed by the good quality of low light pictures with no flash. But, it now has a vertical line in each picture and is seen in the view finder. I'm returning it to Sony for repair/replacement, lets see how it goes. -- Sony replaced the ccd, returned it one day after recieving it. rh 4stars

Sony Cybershot T70 (black).......2007-12-27
Pros: The camera design is great, much smaller than I remember it being in the stores. The design is nice and it seems like it will hold up well over time. The touch-screen is very easy to use. The movies have unlimited time and they are excellent quality! The slideshows are cool and can be customized with music, the "smile shutter" does work. There is red-eye correction that you can apply after taking the picture. I use a Sandisk 4GB Pro Duo card.
Cons: In low light the background can be too dark but if you push the shutter button down a little and let it focus it does better. I noticed this on the "Auto" shooting setting, I haven't played with the other settings much.
Awesome style, features, but bad pics.......2007-12-19
I want to love this camera, but just can't for the simple fact that indoor/lower light pictures just look terrible. This is for two reasons. One the camera bumps the ISO settings too high, causing noise. Two, this causes the noise filter to try to correct the problem, but it just winds up making everyone looked smeared.
The face detection seems to work well, tracking up to 8 faces as long as they are looking at the camera directly. Smile detection on the other hand was pretty spotty, and I could only get it to work reliably with very cheezy smiles.
The huge touchscreen on the back is definitely a wow factor when people see this camera. It's bright and clear, and is very impressive as it takes up the entire back of the camera. The touchscreen itself made me nervous because when you press on it, the LDC below is squished, causing the screen to momentarily change colors. You would never see this on a PDA. Perhaps a better choice would have been a glass backing for the screen, or even better, use the same technology as the iphone's screen. For the most part the interface is pretty good, but simple tasks such as turning off the flash, or switching to macro mode take too many touches.
Pros:
- Great styling
- Face detection
- Touchscreen is nice, screen is big and bright
- Image stabilizer works well
Cons:
- Image quality is terrible
- Smile detection needs some work
- Too many touches to get complete simple tasks
- Zoom button is hard to get to, impossible for one handed operation.
- Only takes memory stick, SD would have been better (granted this is a Sony so I really don't expect anything less)
- Would have been nice if it took AA batteries.
Bottom line:
I love the look of this camera, and the touchscreen allows for the camera to have very few physical buttons. However, the gimmicks wears off quickly.
Ultimately, I took this camera back to the store for a Canon SD850(see my other review) because the image quality was unacceptable. If you shoot any pictures in low light or indoors picture quality will suffer.
too small and lens not as good as cybershot.......2007-12-18
Love the look, but the size is awkward (finger often gets in the way of the lens). Picture quality was not fantastic (we are very picky) - but we prefer and highly recommend the cybershot with the carl ziess lens. Not as nice looking as this camera but out performs it and feel right in the hands.
Good looking sturdy camera.......2007-12-16
I've had it for about a month now and it's working great. I love the touch screen and the video quality is awesome. I would definitely recommend this product.
AWESOME CAMERA.......2007-12-06
I bought this amazing camera on october, and all i can say is that it works perfect. the touch screen is very responsive, yet, they need to improve the interface a little bit in order to make it even more easy to use. I went to the miami seaquarium and I was impressed because it took pretty nice pictures when the dolphins were moving, it didn't lose any detail. It has a lot of features, including face detection and smile shutter (simply amazing).... I fully recomend this one. It's really thin...
