very good.......2007-12-26
very good, it's the cheapest CDR I have ever seen. just because it's sold by private seller. It can't be delievered by SuperSaving.
all right by me !!!.......2007-12-09
Memorex makes a very reliable blank CD-R that can handle up to 80 minutes of music or 700 megabytes of data. Moreover, these blank CD-Rs are capable of recording data at high speeds. The data I recorded onto these CD-Rs has now lasted for over three years, proving the test of time. I have used these as data discs and discs to record audio. I almost never got a coaster. Great!
The CD-R discs are compact and easy to store. While the discs are still blank, store them in the circular case on the spindle that they came in. After your burn data or music onto them, I would recommend storing them in slim jewel cases instead of paper sleeves. It's just better protection for your CD-Rs that have anything stored on them. Don't store these discs, burnt or blank, in rooms that become very hot; this causes damage to any brand of this type of disc and you could lose data over time.
There are two caveats that many other people note about any brand of this product: when you are burning the data onto the blank disc, don't be surprised if you see that the data is burning at a rate slower than the packaging advertises (52x). This can happen if your burner doesn't have the capacity to burn faster, or it may be a quirk. I am not a professional so I cannot be certain of precisely what causes this phenomenon; but I assure you that the extra minute or two (tops) that you wait to get your CD-R completed is worth the wait. In addition, DON'T write on these using Sharpie ink pens. The ink can seep through the top coating of the CD-R disc and slowly but surely compromise your data--and you wouldn't want that, now would you? If you need to label the discs, label its' jewel case using a post-it note. At least that's what I do.
Overall, Memorex blank CD-R discs store data reliably over the years and I believe that an extra minute to burn the data onto the blank disc is well worth it in the event that it doesn't actually burn at the very highest speed advertised.
Use them in good health!
Perfect.......2007-12-07
This was the best price for how many you get that we could find and the shipping was super quick!
Great Product.......2007-11-02
Good for its price. Used about 10 of them and so far no junk cds.
Cheap in price but good in quality.......2007-10-17
Well, until now, I haven't had any issues with the Memorex CDs I have burned. I keep the recorded CDs in a case, where every CD has its own storage area (meaning they do not touch each other).
I also try not to scratch my CDs and take good care of them. CDs that I burned about one year ago are still fine.

Does not work in Mac's.......2007-10-11
I purchased this product to burn cd's for my legally purchased digital music from iTunes and Amazon. I can not create cd's using the superdrive that came installed in my MacBook. I have also read where users are experiencing the same problem on MacBook Pros. The media is cool to look at, but it simply does not work using the built in drive superdrive. I spoke with Apple support and they offered to replace the drive under warranty, however, I have had my MacBook for less than two months and this media has been available for a few years. The tech support representative stated he did not know if the replacement drive would be newer or resolve the problem. Luckily I have an external Sony DVD burner that works fine with the media. However, I can make audio cd's using the external drive instead of the internal.
Great quality - hard to label.......2007-06-27
I haven't had a bad CD in the bunch yet, and the black color is very classy looking. However, since the entire CD is black, there's no place to write a label! As everyone knows, sticking a label on a CD is a bad idea because it unbalances the rotation of the CD and there's a chance that the label will come off inside the player, so that's not an option.
They've left an area for a label - all they have to do is make it a color that a permanent marker can be read from.
Quality is sub-par; lack of writing surface.......2007-04-27
I've used these discs for both standard PC data media (burnt ISOs for backups and general data), for CD/Redbook audio, and for some grey-market consoles (select people will know what I mean by this. :) )
Out of a 50 pack, I ended up with about 6 coasters. Not horrible, but not great either.
These discs have a tendancy to be "noisy" when read from -- the thickness and size of the discs, despite being standard, must be off by a slight margin since they end up rattling around inside of drives at higher speeds (32x+). Other vendor's discs don't seem to do this.
These discs do not perform very well under high speed operations (32x+) either; lots and lots of media re-reads. Again, other vendor's discs seem to perform OK.
But the worst part, in my opinion, is that there's no writing surface on the label side of the disc! It's almost completely (99%) black. How are you supposed to write on the disc what the contents are?! Oh right, there's a 1cm strip along the edge of the CD (curved none the less) where you can write. Thus you're forced to buy stickers that go on the disc (which end up making the discs unbalanced in weight, thus making even more noise than mentioned above).
I'd have given these discs 3 stars had the quality been better, but the lack-of area to write on is appalling. I really don't know what Memorex was thinking.
Perfect so far.......2007-03-02
I usually have problems with Memorex CD-Rs, I've even had one spindle where every other cd was bad. But I've been through about 5 of these Black 50-packs and haven't had one CD-R fail yet. These are the only kind I'll use for my business. Very good product.
burned almost 100 without error.......2006-12-30
I am converting a personal library of LP's & 45's to CD's and have burned almost 100 CD's to date and have yet to have a single problem. I label them using Memorex labels and haven't experienced any blistering. I use the CD's for archiving, as I play the music on my iPod, but always listen to the CD's after they have been burnt to ensure they are OK. I rely upon reviews when making purchases and thought, in light of the bad ones for this product, that I needed to add my experiences.

Never a problem.......2004-05-12
I've been using these for several years. Burning data, VCDs, & mp3s on 'em. I usually buy them in 50 or 100 pack drums. Out of over 250 of them, I've only had 1 where the aluminumized backing came off... a DJ dopped one in a dark club sound booth & didn't realize he was stepping on it all night. AMF, many more of them take nightly beatings in sound & video booths, & still play when many others have failed. These booths get over 100 degrees F. The disks have also been in the hot car in the summer, & below zero F winters overnight.
I supspect above average CD abuse or he just got a bad batch in reference to the other poster's comments. These & Fuji discs hold up better, & have less burn errors at any speed than any other brands I've used, & I've tried a lot of them.
AMF I'm purchasing another 100 of them today. Which is why I typed this, after seeing the bad review for a product I'm quite happy with.
I also heard of a friend who fell asleep on one & the sivlering came off. So as long as you don't sleep & sweat on them or walk on them, they should do just fine.
I also use theirs or Fuji CD-RWs for quick access UDF format data for years (the computer thinks its a small hard drive). I probably have 40 of them, which over half are office-max brand. None of them have failed yet.
not durable.......2004-03-15
These would only be okay if you needed short-term storage. For anything long-term, look elsewhere.
I burned a bunch of CD's on this media, and the paint on the top layer (where you write or label the CD) flakes or chips off. Unfortunately, there is no layer of plastic separating the top coat of paint from the foil where the information is kept, so when the paint flakes off, you lose part of your information. Some advice I've been told is to never let CD-R's in direct contact with sunlight (the UV light will speed this process), and to not store CD-R's face up like we usually do with commercial CD's (to protect the surface from being scratched). I don't know how to check if a brand's CD-R's are durable enough, but I've never had a problem with any of the "major" brands, whose products have always satisfied. If you can't find their stuff on sale, dish out the extra dollars anyway. You are saving money when you use CD-R's, anyway; don't get stuck being cheap and buying a no-name brand that does not have a reputation for audio products. I think there are a few other brands that are okay, bu Amazon is just going to blank them out, so do a search online to try to find out more about this topic. There are lots of audiophiles that are very knowledgeable.
