Excellent quality and price.......2006-07-13
These mini-CDs are all I expected -- and at a great price! I highly recommend them!
Depends on which camera you use.......2005-10-20
I have 2 of the CD-Mavica cameras. The CD-1000 uses these disks fine with no problems. However with the CD-500, about 2/3 of the disks have problems. I know it is not my camera causing this problem, I know several people with the same camera that have the same problem. If you have a CD-500, use the TDK brand disks, I have not had a problem with any of them.

Best on the market.......2007-04-08
these verbatim dvds are the only dvds i buy. they are the most reliable for me in copying full-length movies. i have backed up many movies and they all look flawless, just as the original copies.
buy verbatim, you won't regret it.
The best media available.......2007-01-04
I've been burning these since I received them and no problems at all. Great for both movies and data.
good purchase.......2006-03-10
These disks have worked well thus far. I have not had a problem with a single disk.
I've tried it all..........2005-02-18
...and this is the best media I have come across at the 16x speed. I have tried it on three brands of burners with only 1 failure out of 50 tries (and that one was likely as much my system's fault than the disk's fault). The three DVD Burners brands that I have used are Lite-on, Rosewill, and MicroAdvantage. They ARE buggy on certain Pioneer Burners, so you may want to avoid them if you are using a Pioneer.
With regard to high failure rates, before giving up, be sure to update the latest firmware on your burner, turn off any programs running during the burning stage, and make sure your power supply is sufficient (which can cause errors at higher speeds or the outside of the disk). If that doesn't work, you may want to try different software; when I did, my cheap DVD's went from jumping around to solid as a rock. If you still have high failure rates, it could be defective and subject to warranty. Otherwise, you may just have to stay away.
But, in my opinion, these are the most reliably produced disks out there, with Ridata coming in a close second.
No Problems at 16X so far.......2005-01-10
I bought a new 16X burner for my PC and have tried the 25pk Verbatim 4.7GB 16X DVD+R media on it. I have not had any failures so far burning at 16X and the playback has been fine. I have bought another 25pk of this media.

Customer Reviews:
Harder to open than a jar of pickles!.......2007-04-19
While I can't comment on the quality of the disc itself (co-workers use these, not me), I can comment on how ridiculous the packaging design is!
I was approached by my co-workers for aid in opening the spindle, because, for whatever reason, Maxell decided to invent its own baffling spindle locking mechanism. Everyone is familiar with the standard CD/DVD spindle mechanism: Three or four tabs on the base, rotate the top 15-degrees, pull up and wah-lah! Discs galore!
Maxell, however, created this spindle with four seemingly harmless tabs on the inside of the spindle top. These tabs are held within a solid track that runs the inner spindle base, with four voids in the track that would seemingly correspond with the tabs. Here is where the trouble comes in: You rotate the top about 40-degrees along this track, and you hit a solid stopper. Rotate 40-degrees in the opposite direction and "No soup for you!" You've hit another solid stopper.
"Push on the top and pull at the same time!" - "Push on the sides like on a Listerine cap!" - "Put a screwdriver under the tab!" - "Break the stupid thing, I need to burn a copy of Charlie's Angels already!"
The overzealous orders came barking in from all corners of the office. I simply sat and stared wonderfully at this disaster of modern product usability: "Who gets the $60,000 salary at Maxell for thinking this thing up?"
Eventually, with pure sweat, muscle and tears of insane laughter, I was able to force the top to rotate beyond the Goliath Spindle Stoppers on the base. Yet the ability to finally open the spindle gave me no further insight as to the real intention of how this mechanism should work, so now we just leave the spindles unlocked at all times.
While I normally applaud innovation and new ideas... SERIOUSLY, Maxell, this is a case of DVD-R discs, not a bottle of Vioxx. I shouldn't have to go out to the garage and grab my oil filter clamp to open it up. Then again, perhaps this is the handiwork of the MPAA... what better a method of DRM!
What you see is NOT what you get.......2007-01-10
I specifically ordered these DVD's because the picture showed them to be an 8X speed. When I recieved them, they were 16X. What you see IS NOT what you get in this case...One positive note, return was easy and credit was issued with no problem.
Shitty Manufacturing Standards.......2006-02-18
When purchase, product comes in a nice plastic container sealed.
When open (brand new) close inspection will reveal a different story.
1) You will find occasional scratches on the disc.
2) You will find occasional paint marks on the disc.
3) You will find occasional oil marks (if you're lucky, you'll find finger prints) on the disc.
Lastly, the plastic material used in the manufacturing process to laminate the metalic foil has high electro-static attraction characteristics towards dust. I have conducted experiments on similar product with different manufacturers/company under same enviromental condition and found this to be true.
I might also add that if you intend to use this as a reliable form of backup for your data/video and plan to store it for more than 2 years, you should avoid using it because the viscoelastic characteristic of the plastic decays rapidly compared to other manufacturers.
You don't get what you order!.......2005-05-06
Be careful when ordering this item. Though the "See Larger Picture" illustration clearly shows 4x, 8x is shipped. Some recorders, mine for example purchased only 3 months ago from Amazon, state in two places "This machine will not record on 8x discs".
Great Picture & Customer Service - May Not Always Work !.......2004-07-03
DVD Recorders are more finicky than my cat at dinner time!
Some may like a certain brand of blank media more than others.
I have a TOSHIBA DVD Recorder. I purchased a 25 pack of these
Maxell DVD-R's. Some of the disks worked fine , others did not.
But a 25 pack of PANASONIC DVD-r's all worked!
But when the MAXELL Disks work, it has unbeatable quality.
The color and luminance is outstanding!
I recommend purchasing a 10 Pack to start with.
Find out if it works well in your dvd recorder.
If any of the disks do not work ,return it to Maxell.
They send you a free replacement(in a sealed jewel case)
within one week!

Customer Reviews:
Decent, burns and reads fine........2007-05-11
These DVD+r's look a little sketchy, I know. I was worried they wouldn't burn or read well but I was wrong. They burn fine. I have a Pioneer DVDRW K-16 drive in my notebook and it burns to these disks with no problem. I use The latest Nero suite also. I can't attest to the shelf life of these disks, obviously, but they don't seem too crappy. I've played them in my dvd player and original xbox and both work. I haven't tried 16X burning becuase my drive doesn't support it so maybe that speed is bad for the disk, but 8X and under seems to be fine. I would recommend these to someone with my hardware setup or similar or someone that feels lucky. the other reviews seem to say that these disks are hit or miss. Well they hit for me so that's all I can say. Great Value though.
These discs did not work for me.......2007-03-14
I have used other memorex dvd+r in the past with no problems, and for some reason these did not work. I have a Fantom Drives external DVD writer, so if you have one of those then I would shy away from buying these DVDs.
Beware ..........2006-03-28
The Memorex DVD+R 16x that I received were Taiwanese made CMC MAG M01. They are not the highest quality by any measure. On NERO quality scan, you get between a score of 40-75 (okay, upper 70s). I bought some ProDisc that scored in the 65-90 (and the 65 was only 1 disk, most in the upper 70 to 80). The Taiyo Yuden 8x was getting me 85-95 range. Too bad that Amazon does not carry (to my knowledge) the better ProDisc or Taiyo Yuden.
Umm..........2005-08-30
Burned several discs and applied full-surface labels. Didn't work in any of 3 players. Have burned a bunch since then w/out labels, and they seem to be OK. But if they're anything like the CDRs from Memorex, the without-label surfaces will chip away within a year and render the DVDs useless.
Anyway, when we buy a spindle of any blank media, we shouldn't have to wonder if the first 5 or 10 are going to be trial runs. I guess I have bought this brand so many times because of the price/quantity relationship at local stores. I'm ready to switch to something more reliable.

My DVD can only read and write at a speed no higher than 8X.
Amazon's image showed an 8X. But the product delivered was
a 16X. It's very frustrating to return items after waiting
a week or more. Find a way of verifying the technical specifications
before ordering.

GREAT MEDIA!.......2006-11-16
FINALLY I found some reliable rewritable DVD media. After a lot of erases and rewrites, I never had any problems with this stuff. This media works great with the DVD Recorder and DVD burner I own. Whatever Maxell did, they got it right. If you want some DVD+RW discs that wont die after 3 months, this is the stuff to get. I see these at Walmart for a very low price

GREAT colors! A must have!.......2006-05-14
A friend back east told me about seeing these TDK color DVD-Rs on the store shelf somewhere. So I immediately began to search for them in my local area here on the west coast but with no luck. I turned to Amazon.com, found and ordered them, and was glad that I did.
The colors are beautiful, different than the colors you find elsewhere, and overall this was a fun purchase. TDk makes the best blank DVD-Rs and these color discs will forever remain in your DVD collection. So I highly advise getting them while they're still available.
