No good.......2007-12-27
I bought the 50 pack and the first 6 I tried failed when burning into layer 2. I've never had this problem before. Waste of money and, more importantly, wasted a lot of time.
Buy at your own risk.......2007-12-11
I had bought a 15 pack spindle of these DVD DLs and it worked just fine, so I figured I'd go with the best deal since they are the best priced DVD DLs out there and I bought a 25 pack spindle. About 8 DVDs into it and not one worked. I burned SONY and HP DVDs just fine but this spindle of Memorex is a complete waste of money.
I've tried contacting Memorex via email to get my money back but so far they've just ignored me. I will no longer be purchasing Memorex, in the end you really save no money buying these discs since you throw so many of them out...
Product Description
The DVD-R 4.7GB 25 pack is used with DVD Recordable Drives that support DVD-R/RW blank media and certain DVD-RAM Recordable Drives that incorporate DVD-R as a write once solution. When recorded with audio and video files, this disc format may be played on most home and portable DVD players produced since 2001.

Even the warranty discs are corrupted.......2006-06-01
I bought these discs not too long ago and only about 30% passed verify. I complained to Memorex and they sent me some replacements. The replacements are terrible also. I will never use Memorex DVD's again
I've Had NO Problems!.......2006-01-06
I've had these disks for a couple months now and haven't had any problem with them going bad. I loved the price. Great quality! Would buy from again!!
Bummer! What happened!?.......2005-10-24
I had the same situation as previous posters, I went thru a couple 50-spools of the 4x and had almost NO problems. Then I couldn't find any more of those and had to switch to the 8x... and now something like 3/4th of my current spool fails to burn with "power calibration error". I have a sony 4x DRU-500A.
Read this before buying!!.......2005-07-28
I say read this before buying because I am not going to trash Memorex, I am going to explain what will go wrong and why. These discs should work for a while. Memorex used to be a very highly regarded name in fact. Recent Memorex releases have gone down in quality. I scanned and diagnosed some of these Memorex discs, and found out a few things...They have manufacturing label CMC MAG, the worst manufacturing label on the market. Memorex doesn't even make these discs! They buy them from CMC MAG and write Memorex on them! Some CMC MAG discs have gone bad and completely corrupted in less than 2 months! If you are using these for anything but temporary, stay away. The quality is good, while it lasts.
be aware... bad product.......2005-07-06
I bought 50 DVD spindle. Used them all with no problem. Once tried to see the movies they all started freezing 1/2 way. I called my friend and he had the same problem. It looks like I have to turn off the DVD player for about 15 minutes and wait for the DVD temperature to cool down. The normal heat generated from the DVD player is affecting the DVD disks. Once I do that, it works fine. Unfortunately I already bought another 100 spindle from Best Buy, but these were worse, I recorded with no problem but it froze all together once tried to watch the movie. I tried 5 disks with same result. I returned them with full refund. I used generic DVD from Staples and worked great. I transfered some DVD's and they worked fine. I'm using Philips now on NEC DVD burner and they worked great. After doing some research and reading some reviews on chat lines I found that a lot of people having the same problem. One person said that Memorex use the cheapest die for thier DVD's. Please be aware, they might burn fine but when you need to retrieve the data is were you'll have the problem.

Great product.......2007-07-24
Great product but very difficult to find 8x compatible anymore. 16x has taken over. I hope to purchase more from this seller as long as they still have them on their shelves. So far very satified. Thanks!
Why Pay More!?.......2006-07-26
This DVD burning isn't as cut and dried as some would like you to believe. However, just because you get a bad burn doesn't mean it is the discs. There is a whole bunch of stuff going on in your computer that can affect the burn.
I have a Dell 1.2 ghz, with a Lite-On 8x drive, running Nero 6 OEM. Pretty generic, but these Memorex 8x and now 16x discs burn just fine. In fact, I have burnt about 600-800 of these discs and have had very few fall-outs. Not enough to justify buying the "better" quality discs.
Now for the caveat: I did have one spate of problems, caused by a not so well behaved antivirus program. I tossed out the antivirus program and went over to Avast!(it's free, check with Microsoft). Problem solved even though I run Winamp and a logging environmental sampling program while burning discs.
We burn hundreds of discs for a hospital lecture series. They are being played on all sorts of equipment, including some pretty banged up junk. So far I have not received one complaint about the discs only suggestions about the content.
Before you spend big bucks on some "better" disc, pop up your task manager in XP and see if there is some runaway task that needs some discipline. Also, if you must run "better" discs then do a surface test in Nero. I bet the "better" disc will look very close to failure if the Memorex failed.
Look out for antonline_com shipping costs!.......2006-04-11
If you are considering purchasing these DVD+R's through the Amazon seller called "antonline_com" (which was the only choice at the time of this writing) then make sure you check the S&H charges first.
Antonline charges 6.99 per shipment PLUS 0.99 per pound!!!
works great!.......2005-11-24
I have had good success using these discs with a Sony DRU800 dvd writer. No complaints.
A Solid Brand of DVD.......2005-11-03
This is one of the good brands out there. This should last decades, maybe a century or more, according to some experts. Just store them in a cool, dry place and they just might last a couple hundred years.

Memorex dvd.......2007-06-18
I purchased a 2x Emerson/Funai dvd/vhs player/recorder about a year ago. Soon, the purchased dvd's would not play. They were 8x dvd's. So, Funai sent me a free update for 8x. Great! The dvd's would work. But, in purchasing blank dvd's to record, I found that only Memorex 8x dvd-r would work. Not Verbatim, not Sony, nor any other Funai recommended. So, getting low on my Memorex, I searched for more. No deal. All have gone to 16x, which would not work. Then, I found a store that had some 8x Memorex dvd-r packs. Great!
No! They have a dot design on top of the discs. My Memorex that would work are plain, no design. And no one who sells Memorex 8x will look at the top of their discs. Even Memorex itself does not know (or care) why the plain will work, but the dot design will not. Memorex insists that the dot design came out 6 months ago and only for 16x. Hmmmm, their dot design discs are printed 8x. You tell me!
