Amazon.com Product Description
Fujifilm recordable CDs are designed to be superior write-once optical media. Technological advances have led to optimal archival life (70 to 100 years), proven prevention against data degradation, and high read-back reliability. A high-sensitivity organic color layer and highly reflective film layer gives Fujifilm CD-Rs improved reflectivity at lower power levels. This means lower error rates, even with compromised power levels in the write laser or if the lens is dirty.
Fujifilm's rigorous testing has confirmed that these discs are compatible with today's most popular CD-R writers and CD-ROM drives. Further, the discs offer superior longevity, holding up in tests for over a million read passes with no data degradation.

If it is made in Japan you have it made in the shade!!.......2007-06-10
As the author of the Jefferson Airplane book "Take Me To A Circus Tent" and a former radio disc-jockey, I am often asked to write and or discuss various recordings from the 60's and 70's.
Today I wanted to review the Fuji CD-R's because I wanted to point out why there have been such varied thoughts on the product.
I have recorded with Fuji for years and have had over a 99 percent success rate. I trusted many of my rough drafts of the book on a Fuji as well as every style of rock and roll music. One of the reasons you see such a difference in failure ratios from different reviewers are the unfair comparison of Fuji CD's not manufactured in Japan.
Those that show they are from another country are not held to the same quality control standards. If the blank CD is a product of Japan the end result will be perfect for music, voice, and or data.
Please remember that if you took out the reviews for the Fuji CD's that weren't made in Japan, the overall rating would be at or near 5 Stars!
Enjoy the music and be well,
Craig Fenton

the best.......2005-10-23
while other brands have a percentage of "for use as coaster only" discs, Fuji yields 100% usable CDs.
Only purchase if it says "Made In Japan" on the label.......2005-07-20
The Japanese Fuji Film CD-Rs are hard to beat at any price.
The taiwanese Fuji CD-Rs make excellent drink coasters.
'Nuff said.
Excellent Product.......2005-04-16
I think some of the problems people have had with Fuji media seems to lie in just where the product was made. The Fuji CD-R and DVD media I get is made in Japan, and I have never had any problems. However; I hear that Fuji media made elsewhere might have some defects.
0 Failures Out of 30.......2005-04-06
I had extremely good luck with these compared to other brands I've tried. Out of a 30 pack, I was able to either burn audio or burn data on 30 of them in my Sony external DVD/CD drive.
Product Description
Fuji CD-Recordable (CD-R) discs offer advances in write-once optical disk production - making them a superior choice for creating CD-ROM's using standard recordable drives.Fuji CD-R discs feature a unique dye-recording layer that offers optimum archival life and unsurpassed protection against degradation. Plus, Fuji's reflective gold layer ensures superior read-back for the ultimate in lifetime performance. Another technological advance - greater reflectivity further guarantees quality performance through CD-ROM readers and CD digital audio players. To guard against accidental damage, a specially developed protective surface covers the recording layer. Once recorded by CD-R equipment, Fuji CD-R discs offer all the compatibility and durability of mass-produced CD-ROM's or CD's, with the added advantage of superior Fuji archival playback qualities.

These are the best CD-Rs I've dealt with.......2006-12-21
I've encountered a number of brands of CD-Rs that are of poor quality, resulting in burned CDs that have pops and skips in them, no matter what CD player I use. After wasting several hours checking my machine's hardware, I decided to try some different discs and ended up buying these Fuji CD-Rs (from a local store) and have encountered zero problems since then.
Not only are my burned CDs clean, without any pops nor skips, but there is also a noticable difference in sound quality, with the Fuji discs being much richer than other brands I've used.
Unlike others on here, the ones I bought are in fact manufactured in Taiwan instead of Japan, but I haven't had any problems with them as some other older reviews seem to suggest.
All in all, a great product.
Fuji CD-R: High Quality Disc.......2006-04-17
I have used about 100 of the Made in Japan 48x Fuji disks for audio backups with no issues whatsoever. Running CDspeed by Nero, I get very low C1 erros, never any C2. The TDK numbers actually come out a bit lower, but I trust these more because they are made by Taiyo Yuden. The TDKs are now all made by Ritek which I have had problems with in the past, but chances are they are made to TDK standards and are likely fine. Regardless, I will probably never use anything else other than Fuji.
30- Pack Spindle.......2005-11-30
In case anyone is curious, (being how the last comment on these Fujifilm CD-R's was 20 months ago), my recent order for Amazon's spindle of 30 Fujifilm CD-R's I just received today were in fact the higher quality "Made In Japan" ones, and not the "Made In Taiwan" ones (order at your own risk though). Amazon also has a link on the left side of this page called "Buy The Best CD-R Media You Can Get", which is an article on various CD-R's, and recommends these Fuji's. CompUSA actually shipped these out for Amazon, but my local CompUSA store here in San Diego didn't even stock `em for some reason. The CD fronts have a standard "frosted silver" finish to them, and look very sharp. Plus, they are rated at "up to 48x burn speed", and not 24x, as the "outdated" item description suggests.
5 if Taiyo Yuden.......2004-03-05
If you receive a pack of these Fuji CDR that has "Made in Japan" on the wrapper - then you have Taiyo-Yuden CDR. But beware--if it says "Made in Taiwan"--you're getting junk. Be sure to check for this before you buy (if possible) or before you remove the wrapper.
Fuji recently changed manufacturers - judging by the change in packaging in the local stores.
There are really only 4 high-quality CDR makes I trust with my life:
1. Taiyo-Yuden
2. Verbatim (Datalife PLUS products only including "Vinyl CDR")
3. Ricoh (products made in Japan)
4. TDK
It is noteworthy that I have had absolutely no problems with the Imation brand, but I cannot highly recommend them, because they are manufactured by CMC, who makes notoriously cheap discs often marketed under other brands such as Memorex and K-Hypermedia.
That's not to say that many people have had luck burning to the cheaper media -- but I wouldn't want to be the one who tries to read the disk somewhere 6 months to several years down the line only to come up with a read error! This has happened to me before and I won't be fooled again...
Taiyo Yuden.......2003-08-04
Once again, the superior performance and quality of Taiyo Yuden.
If you're wondering what Taiyo Yuden is, it's the manufacturer of the FujiFilm CD-R brand. I consider them to be the #1 manufacturer because of the supremely low C1 error rates, and compatability with all sorts of players.
All Memorex discs are made in low quality factories, which 80-85% of the time produce coasters in half of the spindle.
Some low quality factories include: CMC Magnetics, Lead Data, RiTEK, Prodisc, Princo
Most brands such as Memorex, Sony, Imation, Verbatim, they are all made in these factories.
Maxell 50 Pack CD-R Audio is Taiyo Yuden, I buy them at Sam's Club for 12.88, which is cheap considering the quality of the media. They also like my LITE-ON 52X external, FujiFilm's are the exact same thing, so I suggest you buy them.
