Annoying.......2007-06-28
The product seems to work fine but everytime I turn on the Sony camcorder or press record it tells me it recommends the Sony DVDs. Its really annoying, to the point next time I will just buy Sony so I don't have to see that message anymore!!
Does what is says on the tin!.......2007-01-23
Bought the disss a few times, mainly through amazon. I had no problems whatsoever. They also come with the cases which makes life a lot easier especially when it comes to storing the disks. It is a simple product and it does exactly what is says on the tin

The DVD's seem to work just fine. They are required by the Manufacturerer or would void the warrenty. And we have had no problems with performance since we began using them.
Passable Disc - Terrible Panasonic Customer Service.......2006-10-22
In my opinion:
I own a ton of Panasonic equipment, most recently a DVD recorder. I was using Sony DVD-Rs with no problems, but, being a Panasonic person, I figured Panasonic must be better.
In order to save a few bucks, I joined the Panasonic Club at the Panasonic website, and ordered a spindle of these same type DVD-Rs. I did this on 9/20/06.
I made several phone calls and emails to find out where my discs were, and, believe it or not, nobody at Panasonic could tell me why they hadn't been shipped. Then, I was promised that they did ship, but I never got them. After being talked into placing a duplicate order by a Panasonic Rep, I didn't get that order either.
I finally received one order on 10/16/06. They were so poorly packaged that the holder was broken. Now, I finally had my discs. Guess what? They were only 1-8x speed (the Sony discs were 1-16x speed), and my thermal label printer wouldn't print on them because of the finish. I had been assured that I could print on them with a thermal printer.
I did burn a couple of movies, and they worked, but I saw nothing special that I can report.
It gets worse: I logged into my Panasonic Club account, and saw two charges I hadn't made: one for $10,017 and one for $915. I fell off the back of my chair. To this day nobody has called me, but I managed to get some email responses, and i was told I would have to watch my credit card - that's just what I need!
You know, sometimes you buy a brand and think great things about how wonderful a Company it is, and then one day you have some dealings and realize how wrong you were.
I'm going back to Sony, and let me tell you, Amazon Customer Service blows away just about every company I've dealt with (sorry about the preposition). I should have bought on Amazon.
Best media available on the market.......2006-08-15
These discs are made by Taiyo Yuden in Japan for Panasonic. I have had 100% success rate with many discs. Maxells made in Japan by Hitachi Maxell or Taiyo Yuden are also great discs.
The Panasonic DVD recorders need to have a firmware update to eliminate some of the incompatibility of certain discs. With the firmware, I have had zero problems with two units with these discs.
I had the opposite problem with Panasonic's website. I ordered 10 discs of individually wrapped discs (they use for fullsize jewel cases for singles) and they sent me 50 discs (10 boxes of 5) and didn't charge me. Nor wanted them returned. So I guess I am happy!
If you have a Panasonic DVD Recorder.......2006-06-26
I have been using Panasonic's DVD-R discs with my Panasonic DVD recorder (model DMR-EH50) for several months. I think I have had two out of about 100 of them bomb out on me. I have tried other discs that were cheaper, but they were not realiable when I used then with my Panasonic recorder. UPDATE as of April 2007. Recently had 2 out of 20 bomb on me. I don't know if 10% bomb rate is good or bad -- just reporting.

Don't even try at 16x.......2007-09-15
I bought a 16x compatible spindle, have to burn at 8x or even 4x on 2 different PCs/burners. Next time I will stick with Memorex and TDK.
Always test compatibility before buying bulk!.......2007-08-30
For the last few years I have always bought these DVD+Rs. I've probably bought a dozen spindles and I've never had a problem. Some of the other reviewers have mentioned needing to throw an entire spindle away and I don't recall throwing more than an occasional disc away. Of course, if you've burned discs of any sort you'll know that regardless of brand you're going to produce the occasional "coaster."
That being said, it's important to realise that recordable drives and discs are similar to people in terms of compatibility. By that I mean that one type of disc may be in true love with a certain drive, but absolutely loathe another. Even if you've had great success with a certain brand of discs, you may not have the same success if you change drives.
My sincere recommendation is that you start small. Buy a few single discs or perhaps a ten pack until you're confident that the discs are working well with your drive. Then, you can start buying the 50 and 100 spindles. Sure, you may lose the "bulk discount" for the one or two "test" discs but you're saving yourself from losing an entire spindle of possibly incompatible discs.
EXCELLENT DISCS.......2007-07-21
I burn roughly 50 DVD's a month for work projects. I've gone through two 100 piece spindles with only one coaster. For playback on home theater DVD players, these have proven the most reliable of any brand out there. I typically burn videos at 4X, but these have worked perfectly at 8X and 16X. If you've found your HP Lighscribe drive a bit finiky with other brands, the Sony's have been 100% in both of mine. I'd put them in my top 3 choices for DVD media along with TDK and HP.
many bad discs.......2007-06-17
I have had skips and stalls on almost all of the dvds in this pack so far. I previously had a 100 pack of memorex and they were great. I wouldn't buy these sony dvd's again
dvd disc.......2007-05-14
DVD machine purchased was not compatible, and the discs were rendered unusable. I opened the spindle bundle and felt I couldn't return the discs.

Good product.......2007-12-25
I bought an Epson RX680 printer, then started shopping for printable DVDs. This HP is the first I've tried and I selected it because HP is pretty reliable and this was the best unit cost I could find, because other sources charge for shipping. I'm getting beautiful print jobs with this printer and these discs. I've printed about 50 so far. One of the discs was defective on the "burn" side, so 4 stars.
good item, good price.......2007-12-07
these are good, they have failed less than other brands ive tried so far, the print surface takes well. the only thing i wish is that i could take advantage of the fact that even the inner ring of the disc that is typically clear plastic is covered in printable surface, but this is no fault of the disc but of my printer. ;)
HP Makes a superior Product.......2007-11-24
I have tried just about every DVD-R and DVD+R on the market. I have used cut rate brands that performed well in some batches, then suddenly fell to a 30% failure rate. Some of the name brands have not been much better, suffering failure rates more than 10% in some batches. I have found HP DVD-R disks to be among the best available on the market, with a failure rate less than 2% on every batch I have used thus far. One feature I like is HP's printable surface, which extends all the way to the hub, allowing full face labeling. You'll find them in the used/new listing at around $30/100, an unbeatable price.

Best Compatibility for Panasonic DVD Camcorders.......2007-12-21
There are many manufacturers that offer mini-DVD discs for camcorders. However, not all are created equal. First of all, most Panasonic products prefer or require DVD-R format discs instead of DVD+R like most Sony products use. I have tried Memorex, Maxell, TDK, Fuji, JVC, Sony and Ritek discs in the past. The Maxell, TDK and Sony discs worked flawlessly, but I had problems with several of the Memorex, Fuji and Ritek DVD-R discs. Most of the JVC discs worked OK but a few of them would not finalize properly. Recently I started using the Panasonic DVD-R discs exclusively and have had flawless results. I guess it only makes sense that Panasonic would make discs that are perfectly compatible with their DVD camcorders. I'm not saying that you should only buy the Panasonic discs for a Panasonic camcorder, but beware of the cheaper brands. You're better off spending an extra dollor or two and getting the better quality that will net you successful recordings of your precious memories. So far every single Panasonic DVD-R disc has working perfectly and so I will continue to purchase this brand for my Panasonic camcorder.

hp media.......2007-03-21
All HP media, cd or dvd, always works great. I've never had one bad disc ever. I don't have a printer that prints discs, I bought them because of a sale and thought it would be nice to have something besides the usual shiny surface to write the name of the movie on, I was right.
