If anything, a good deterrent........2007-06-19
We have had a few burglaries in our condominium complex. With condominiums, you are not allowed to mount anything outside of your domicile. It has a very communist feel to it!!! I picked up several of these little "eyes in the sky" in an effort to maintain some level of security and surveillance. I do in fact have some level of security and surveillance. With minimal interference the picture can be actually quite clear. I have to warn you, it's not very exciting!!! Sometimes having a camera in the window sill, even if the cord is simply lying on the floor, is rather ominous and a great deterrent. I prefer mine plugged in! If I suspect trouble ... I quickly connect to the VCR on slow play/record. It really helps keep the monkey business to a minimum. Don't let anyone tell you you're paranoid! Paranoia is simply total awareness!!!!!!!!!!!!! The quality does rate a lower price. If you're needs are like mine and it is temporary, furthermore lives don't depend on it, this will work for you. If you truly need the real thing, by all means spend the money and buy a hard wired closed circuit set. It does work though, I was incredibly skeptical at first. It was also incredibly easy to install.

It just works. Not much to say other than that. I don't know what the little black drive is for. All you need is the micro card and the bigger adapter.
Good for multi-use. You can use it in your phone or put it in the adapter and use it in your digital camera.

Near flawless wireless microphone and NO 9V batteries needed!.......2006-07-21
I'm a television producer/director using two Panasonic HVX200's at 24P and this Sennheiser wireless microhone. Thus far, we've shot 5 indoor/outdoor shows for two series with the microphone and I must say it's quite impressive. I'm not an audio expert but I know when something's working well. What's amazing to me is that these units use only two 1.5 volt AA batteries each AND the batteries generally last an entire 12 hour day! I have a 9V battery based Samson wireless microphone system that's downright voltage thirsty by comparison. (I have to replace the Samson batteries every couple of hours.) The sound quality of the Sennheiser is consistently excellent at various ranges with only an occasional audio hit or dropout. The main tme we've experienced the hits are when our subject is further away; say 75 feet or so. On those occasions, we've remedied the problem by either switching frequencies or by positioning the transmitter or receiver on a more direct line-of-sight orientation.
The construction of the mic and receiver are solid, top drawer all the way. I have NOT read the thick instruction manual, nor do I intend to. My cameraman knows enough to be able to change frequencies when need be, so that's fine by me.
So, in summary, this is an excellent microphone system. It works equally well indoors or out. The quality of the sound we've recorded with it is exceptional. Don't hesitate to make this your primary wireless microphone purchase.

Doorbell transformers, like automobile fuel pumps, fail for reasons that defy explanation. When our doorbell transformer fizzled, I was faced with shutting off power to the whole house while replacing it or finding an easier solution.
I chose easier.
The chime plugs into any electrical outlet within 150 feet of the button, which you can mount anywhere and anyhow you please. I used heavy-duty mounting tape to stick the button over the hole left by the old button. The chime itself is plugged into an outlet in a low-traffic part of our single-story house but can be heard in every room. In a two-story house, you could plug in a second chime upstairs.
The neatest feature is the 8-note "Westminster" melody, which you select with a jumper inside the button. The other choice is a generic "ding-dong". If you don't want to be disturbed, an on/off switch silences the chime. Electronic and mechanical transformer-driven doorbells that play "Westminster" chimes sell for 2 or 3 times the price and require a lot more work to install.
Four DIP switches inside the chime and button let you choose from 16 radio channels to avoid interference from a neighbor's button or certain garage door openers.
It's a one-button, one-chime system so you'll need another kit for the back door, with its receiver in another outlet and the alternate chime selected. You'll also need to set one chime and button to a different channel.
The only maintenance is replacing the miniature 12-volt battery in the button. It's the same battery used in many auto alarm fobs and garage door opener transmitters. Test it weekly. If you have to hold the button to ring the chime, it's time for a new battery.

Glad I bought even though color isn't great.......2007-07-24
I have my receiver upstairs and my camera outside near ground level. The camera is only about 50 feet away and the image is stable with no interference. The microphone picks up good and again no interference. the only downside is that the color in the brightest parts of the image wash out. For example my green grass outside looks almost light gray with a hint of green with the sun hitting it directly. Easy to setup.
