Not bad for the price........2007-12-10
I am using this with a Pentium 1.7 GHz PC with Windows XP and SP-2. It installed easy enough, grabbed the latest drivers off the M-Audio website. Have to agree with others in that the documentation is not the greatest. Once I figured out to use an RCA to phono converter and plug it into the sound card then select the Fast Track as default playback and Sound recording device I was in business. Added bonus is that I can play along with the songs I want to record from I-Tunes and make sure I have the parts right. Get a decent set of headphones and plug them into the unit, makes a big difference with the sound quality. I really like the Session software; the last time I did any recording I had a Teac 4 track reel to reel and an 8 channel mixer, so this is definitely a step up for me. May not sound completely professional, but what do you want for the price.
For consumer grade item, not bad at all..........2007-09-06
I've been using this for a while now under both Mac and Windows. Setup on the Mac was dead simple, but I never did figure out how to manually set the latency in OSX. The latency in GarageBand can get a little rough when you add some effects, but that's likely more to do with my processor (a G4 PowerBook) than the interface. But overall I don't even remember setting it up on my laptop, which is probably a good sign.
On Windows I didn't have too many problems once I got the Vista drivers. I've been using CakeWalk Music Maker 4, and once you get the right audio setting in the application (which can be a bit of a pain, but again not M-Audio's fault) you're set. Though I will say that disconnecting the USB cord while the sound card is busy is the one time I've managed a blue screen in Vista! But that's not entirely unreasonable. As far as latency goes, I've got a fast enough processor that if I set the latency on the Fast Track to the minimum (this can be set through the control panel in Windows) I get no perceivable latency. Oh, and if you're not using the ASIO drivers, that's probably part of your problem.
I've been using the 1/4" jack with little problem...I have to up the input levels in my application (which is a pain in GarageBand, easier in Cakewalk) but as long as I stay away from the monitor and fluorescent lights I don't really get any considerable noise. I may try the XLR route anyway, though.
This is a perfectly serviceable item for somebody just looking to do some casual recording on the PC, or in place of an amp when traveling (also allows for a wide array of amp/effect combinations without buying hardware). If you're looking to do anything even semi-serious (such as recording multiple instruments, or record actual tracks with a band) you might want to spend a little more. But for "personal" use thing thing's great...better than anything else I've seen or sampled in the same price range.
Also I've noticed that a large number of the negative reviews seem to have more to do with setup problems (or incompatibility problems) than the actual quality of the product. Like I said, I don't even remember setting it up on a Mac and on Windows (Vista) it was relatively simple. Provided you're moderately competent with computers you should have little trouble.
no session given.......2007-06-29
i haven't opened the box because they haven't even sent me the session software package.this is not what i ordered. i am waiting to hear from them , hoping i will get what i ordered.
Vista Users Beware!.......2007-06-05
I purchased this item today from Best Buy and was not sure if it would be compatible with Vista (it says min reqs are Win XP SP1) but after conversing with the Geeksquad guys, they said there was a driver download for Vista on the website. So I splurged and got it. Boy was I wrong. I got home excited to try out my new toy. I started to install all the drivers and software, only to have it take quite some time. The install programs drained my RAM to 0 (which I have yet to do with any program on this computer) and took a long time. I finally got everything installed or so it seemed. I then opened Session only to have it crash and go unresponsive. I probably restarted/logged off at least 8 times because the I couldn't even end the process. After playing with compatibility options I got it to stay open for a while and I played around with the loops. When i tried to export the file it froze again. (Note: All other programs run fine on my computer. Photoshop CS3, Sony Soundforge, etc.) I never could get anything through the input (mic or guitar). And the output sound from the card was terrible. Very scratchy and of poor quality.
The downlow is: If you have XP this is a good buy. My friend has it and I love the program and have played with it at his house. Vista users beware.
Does just what it says.......2007-05-28
This little gizmo does what it says it will and does it very well. Be advised if you are running this in XP without SP2 (I am) none of the drivers and extras will work, but the unit still will do the job. Unbeatable for the price (I've looked).

M-Audio Fast Track Pro.......2007-11-24
Outstanding product for anyone interested in reproducing digital music using computer as the sound source. I use it for DJing where the unit functions as an external sound card enabling my DJ software (PCDJ Red)to act as two individual decks connected separatley to my exteranl mixer! If you've ever used software for DJing you know the power of having practically unlimited songs at your fingertips. You can even have the same song in both decks! And requests are found in and instant for the listening audinece. I highly recommend this product and the best deal I found was thru [...]... hands down!
Great Concept, not exactly working as expected.......2007-09-04
I did need to use their tech support to get this puppy rolling, and I have yet to figure out midi with it, but all in all, it's pretty simple and I have heard that it can record nicely. I've been averagely successful with it so far, so I give it 3 stars.
Great starter.......2007-07-08
For the price of this unit, you can't go wrong. The fact that it works so easy with garage band is great. So, if you own a mac get this and you won't be dissapointed. The only downside is the gain control. You have to turn it almost all the way up (it needs to go to 11). I've used it for live recordings and it does a great job. If I were on an extreme budget, I might have gotten the M-audio mobilepre. But then you lose the midi inputs. And since I got it for the same price, the price was write.
M-Audio FTPro.......2007-05-14
Looks really good, feels pretty durable. However, some of the more expensive options feel heavier (which makes sense), and more resilient. Sound quality is great for what I use it for, and Mac OS X compatibility is no problem, the drivers were included for Mac & PC. Shopped many stores, but couldn't beat Amazon's price when factoring in free shipping!
Fast Track on slow track with Vista.......2007-05-13
M-Audio Fast Track Pro is a nice piece of equipment, but it is not compatible with Windows Vista. M-Audio won't say if or when they will have new drivers available.

Customer Reviews:
I own one.......2007-12-11
I got exactly what I paid for. Not much. It's made of fake wood and kind of tricky to assemble. Thats to be expected, what i didn't expect was the design was also bad. If you look at the picture you'll notice that the DVDs rest on a 1 and 1/2 inch wide bar of wood that is tilted backwards with a wooden rod as a backstop. If any of the dvds fall sideways, and lay on its side they immediately slide backwards and fall off the shelf. I'm going to get another one soon.
A Decent Media Rack.......2007-11-30
This isn't a high-end media rack. That said, it is adequate for the purpose of holding up to about 500 slimline jewel boxes. Undoubtedly it won't withstand a substantial earthquake, but then if you want such a unit, do you really expect to pay only 20.00? I bought one of these at Wal-Mart about a year ago, and just bought a second one about a week ago. The first one demostrated that, bang for the buck, this is a more than adequate for the purpose. The only downside to these racks is that the sliding dividers move more easily than I'd like, and standing the unit on a carpeted floor will result in a cascade of discs all over the floor. If you need storage for a large number of movies or CD's, and you have a hard surface on which to stand this unit, it will do the job just fine.
Piece of junk.......2007-11-29
When I shelled out a mere 20 bucks for this, I didn't expect much. I just wanted a temporary way to store my games and DVDs. With my expectations as low as they were, this item still managed to fall short.
It takes about 30 minutes to put together, not too dificult. But it's obvious right out of the box that it's very cheap. Once assembled, it's incredibly flimsy. No way it lasts a minor earthquake (I'm in SoCal) or even an accidental bump. Save yourself $20 and upgrade to a nicer model. You'll be glad you did.

Customer Reviews:
Excellent.......2007-11-21
Easy to assemble, very sturdy, the rotation design really saves space, and you can load almost 150 DVDs into this. Looks a lot more expensive than it is, as well. Excellent for a dorm room or den.
DVD-CD storage.......2007-11-17
I'm very surprised at how sturdy this little tower is. It takes approximately 45 minutes to assemble. The instructions are clear and all of the hardware is sorted and labeled in separate baggies ( my husband greatly appreciated this!).
Good DVD Storage for the price.......2007-02-11
I wasn't expecting much since the product was made out of laminated pressboard, but once assembled, the dvd storage spinner looked rather nice. I'm not mechanically inclined, so assembly of the dvd storage unit took longer than expected and I did leave out 6 of the wooden dowels even though the assembly directions were diagramed, but all in all, I think the storage unit will not fall apart (hopefully). The price was excellent (about $32).
Needs to be packaged better, but a great value.......2007-02-01
Positives: Parts all labeled clearly; the little pieces were all in individual bags and labeled with the letter matching the instructions (instructions say use a "K" screw, then open the "K" baggie); predrilled holes were all spot on and everything fit correctly upon completion; quick and easy to construct; spins solidly and smoothly; instructions were clear and simple; I think it looks good.
Negatives: Due to inadequate protection, all four of the vertical side panels had a scratch of some nature on them; one of the shelves had a chip in the corner, even though those boards were wrapped; had to wipe down all the boards to clean off this grayish residue off them here and there.
Overview: It's not furniture grade, it's just laminated pressboard (1/2 in. for the sides, top and bottom plates; 3/8 in. for the middle shelves and dividers). But in context of the price (something like $35 delivered), it's an outstanding value. The marks, other than the chip in the shelf, are not visible from the couch, and it looks good otherwise. The color is a brown, but a dark brown. Sits on my black shelving fine.
FYI: each of the eight shelf spaces are 10 3/4 inch wide by 8 1/4 inch tall.
Bottomline: If I had to redo my purchase, I'd buy this product again.

Nice compact stand for a small space.......2007-12-14
I bought this stand because of its smaller size to fit between a fireplace and a window and it works beautifully. The stand comes in a lot of pieces but goes together fast and easy. There are 2 wall braces that require being screwed into the wall. This makes it super sturdy.
It's not nearly as bad as it looks........2007-10-17
This rack came in a small box with the parts needed for construction, no extra tools needed. The entire rack consists of plastic frame reinforced by metal bars for each shelf, making the entire thing seem somewhat weak or unstable looking. Comes with wall mounters which i didn't use, you'll have to consult with somebody else about those. But for the most part, the product is rather stable and my rack of ps2 games hasn't fallen down yet, which i say is a huge plus because it's a full 90 dvds. The shelves however themselves aren't shelves, it's just like, 2 bars pretty much, so they sometimes sit in the hole on the shelf layer rather than the shelf itself. I have not had any dvd topples or falls or real incidents with it so i say that's more or less a minor setback, but its still there.
At this point I am satisfied with this product; its compact, holds 90 dvds, cheap, and it works. May not be as nice as a real wooden media shelf, but hey, you get what you pay for.
pratical for the price.......2007-08-23
the shelf is perfect for my dorm room because it is compact and holds a lot of stuff, but if i was still at home, i would have bought soemthing else
media storage.......2007-07-23
It is ok, but not real sturdy and diffucult to put together. It is lightweight plastic, and needs to be anchored to the wall to prevent it from falling over. The DVD's are tilted to lay backwards, makes it easy to see the titles, but difficult sometimes to get them out without bumping the ones above them off their shelf. I wouldn't purchase another one.
Media Storage.......2007-01-09
I was surprised at how quickly I received the shelves and how easy they were to put together. The size was just what I needed to fit in the space I have available to store both the CDs and DVD that I have.

Works with both Mac and PC computers. Hot plug and play.
Customer Reviews:
Just ok.......2007-12-13
It's a normal case for 2.5" hard drives. I didn't like that I have to plug two USB cables, 1 for data 1 for power.
Nice and simple.......2007-11-26
This is a sturdy and simple HDD external enclosure. The drive will fit into a SATA plug within the enclosure, accessed by pulling the connector (rear) end of the case. The box includes the screws that will allow a secure fitting of the drive as well as the case end you removed for drive installation. After installation of the drive, my enclosure looked pretty sturdy yet remained very light. This is a very portable unit.
The kit includes a CD-ROM with drivers (which I did not use because both my Linux and Mac OS X computers recognized the drive right away). Also in the box you'll see the cables that you need to hook up the enclosure to the USB2.0 ports in your computer. You'll need two USB ports. One USB2.0 for the data port (ie, talking to the drive) and another USB port (could be 1.0 or 1.1) to provide additional current to the drive.
I used the enclosure to house a 60Gb drive (I upgraded my Macbook's drive with a 120Gb disk). During the data transfer, everything worked flawlessly. The aluminium in the case seems to do an excellent job keeping the drive cool.
Hard not to recommend.......2007-11-18
I bought this enclosure to get a full image of my failed laptop's drive, as the repair shop restores the drive to "as-new" state and I didn't want to lose any of my data, applications, or settings.
The only thing you have to make sure of is that the SATA imnterface is what you really need (as opposed to ATA or IDE; check your computer's specs). Removing the drive from the laptop takes a few minutes (depending on the model); putting it into the enclosure - a minute or two (and I'm not really a handyman).
The next step is to use two provided cables to hook up the drive/enclosure combo to another computer; with Windows XP or Vista it will be recognized automatically; then the computer can access the drive like any other external drive.
The transfer speed seems to be limited by the USB interface, not by the drive itself. Using a free disk image utility, my 90 GB drive was imaged in two or three hours. Of course, I was also able to access any files I needed.
The build quality is good (metal with plastic covers at both ends); the internal circuit bords allows for the drive to be secured with four (included) screws, and the whole assembly slides nicely in or out. The on/busy light on the front works as it should. I cannot think of anything I woukd like to be improved.
The enclosure is as wide, and just 20 mm longer, but a tad thinner and better made than my SimpleTech pocket drive (which you cannot open), and therefore can be used, together with any 2.5" SATA HD as a portable, pocket-sized device, and that's the use I'm going to put it to next.
It is hard not to recommend this little gadget.
Good Case, Needs Power.......2007-11-03
A great slim case that was easy to setup and is convenient to use. The only down side is it's need for a second USB connection to draw additional power from. This makes it far less convenient for use on laptops where you only have two ports to begin with.

Atlantic Storage "ROCKS".......2007-09-23
This is a really nice and fully adjustable CD/DVD rack that can be configured in many different ways. I own one ELF464 and four Penguin 322's (nearly identical ATLANTIC rack). Directions may not be the best, but, if you take the time to look at them and follow the order without tightening anything at first, it will assemble easily, although a little slowly. Look at the pictured formats, decide what your storage requirements are and go to it. Once loosely assembled and satisfied, tighten everything up securely. Anyone who has had assembly complaints invariably tightened things up before they were supposed to, and the instructions warn you not to do this. It includes the Allen wrench that is needed and extra spares of both the washers and screws. It is a stable unit that holds an amazing amount of CD's/DVD's, looks good in doing so, and displays the cases rather nicely - easy to read and access. I configured mine to hold 240 DVD's by starting each successive row, seven rows from the last (six empty spaces in between). These are definitely nice products worthy of your consideration!
I love having everything in one place, but..........2007-09-13
putting this together was not as easy as I had anticipated. I had to take it apart and put it back together several times to adjust for both CDs and DVDs, but once it was together I loved it. Now we finally have everything all in one place!
Ideal choice for storage.......2007-08-31
This is my 4th one, because I need a lot of storage room and this item is very handy. With little imagination you can customize your installation to fit your need.
Fine storage rack with a few assembly problems..........2007-07-21
This attractive media storage rack stores any combination of CDs, DVDs and even VHS tapes. Of course you can use it for just one of the three types of media, too. It fits nicely up against a wall and the design with its titanium coloring goes with most contemporary and modern décor. The rack also comes with easy to install and move shelf dividers so that you can split a shelf between two or more different types of media. Very good!
The rack is easy to lift and carry around your room or your home. If you wish to carry this rack across several rooms you would be well advised to carry just the bottom half first and then re-install the upper half of the rack after you place the rack in its new position. One cautionary note: I wouldn't move the rack when it was full or even just partially full, either. Empty the rack before moving it so that you don't risk media spilling all over your floor or shelf dividers coming loose and falling onto your floor.
This rack is particularly useful for persons with large CD collections. Amazon correctly notes that the rack holds over 400 CDs--excellent! At just less than four feet high it won't get in the way of most windows or artwork hanging on the walls of your home.
I have some concerns about the overall construction of the unit and its assembly. Frankly, the instructions were very difficult to understand and I had to actually get a handyman to assemble the thing for me! Amazon states that the rack comes in two pieces--they couldn't be further from the truth. There are a gazillion small screws connecting things and the assembly can take some while. Moreover, even after it's fully assembled the top half and bottom half are connected--but not tightly. This creates the possibility of the top half of the rack leaning either forward or backward depending on the distribution of weight on each shelf. In addition, please be careful not to overload a shelf--it can cause the shelf to bend downward because of the weight on it and then it looks pretty ugly. Even after you cover up that shelf with media, the media themselves are not even because the bent shelf on which they rest is uneven. Sigh.
In short, this is a good rack as long as you are great with mediocre instructions that can be rather cryptic at times. It reliably holds a great deal of media but as I mentioned above it cannot be manhandled--use care when moving this rack! Once you do get past the instructions, however, I would highly recommend this media storage rack by Atlantic for anyone with larger media collections.
NICE RACK!!!.......2007-07-06
THE RACK IS GOOD, AND HOLD LOTS OF DVD'S/CD'S. BUT IT WAS A LITTLE CONFUSING TO ASSEMBLE.

Sounded good .......2007-12-26
I guess if you had a xp system it would of worked great I was upgrading vista and I could not get it to work with vista and could not find any new updates in the apricon website I am not going to put down the product all I am saying it just doe not work well with vista upgrade.
Smooth Transition! Great Product!.......2007-10-27
I upgraded my Dell XPS 1710 laptop from a 100GB,7200rpm 2.5" SATA HDD; to a 200GB, 7200rpm 2.5" SATA HDD. The process went perfectly and I DO have Vista. I don't know what this other guy that posted it didn't work with Vista was doing but it definately wasn't correct. If you have problems running programs in Vista, right-click on the application, select "run as Windows XP" under the Compatability tab and that will work. I didn't have to do that however and the program worked fine. Great tool!
Apricorn EZ Hard Drive UpgradeKit (SATA).......2007-10-11
Product does exactly what it is supposed to do. Instructions are clear, everything is simple, everything you need is included. Upgraded my notebook drive from 120GB to 250GB without a hitch, and ended up with a fast 120GB 2.5" external USB drive as a bonus.
One glitch - the partition backup/restore part of the EZGig software could not make a bootable copy of Windows XP. This does not affect the drive replacement utility of the kit, which works perfectly. But it would be a nice extra to be able to back up and restore working copies of ever-so-fragile Windows.
does not work with Vista.......2007-07-29
Nice little package and super easy - but be warned - it does NOT work with Vista nor does their website have a patch. Nonetheless, I did the BIOS version on Vista machine and was able to backup all data, then the boot failed on the backup drive. I was able to patch it with the Vista DVD repair, but YMMV - you'll need the Vista original disk. It worked for me but it is somewhat risky. I do wish they would better disclose the Vista compatability problem.
