This case was purchased for use with an IPod Video 60GB.
The case was sturdy and nice looking on the whole. I was worried about it scratching up my IPod but it came lined with felt and a piece of replacement felt. It was easy to use, the click wheel is very accessible, and no part of the screen is covered by the edges of the case. That said, the case needs to be significantly redesigned to be considered a good product. As others have mentioned it most certainly doesn't fit the 60GB. There is a simple snap-clasp on one long side that is supposed to keep it closed, but with my IPod in the case it is not even close to closing. There is about a 2 mm. crack all around the case that lets in all manner of dirt and dust, besides allowing the IPod to shift in the case. One of the good things, the felt, quickly began to peel off around the edges and especially in the corners from the shifting weight of the IPod. Also, while the metal of the case is thick enough to be protective, the edges were not finished off well. I have sliced my finger more than once spinning through playlists - nothing terrible, but like getting a papercut from a thick birthday card. Finally, the belt clip is terrible. It might as well not be there it's so useless. The clip slips off the "button" that attaches it to the case with the slightest of bumps. Even clipping onto my pocket backwards (with the case actually in my pocket and the clip showing on the outside of the pocket) did not stop the clip from popping off the case. Also, it has no grip. Clip it to anything, thick or thin, and you can easily slide it off with the push of a finger. Because the clip swivels the weight of my IPod has actually caused it to simply slide and drop off when I've had it clipped to a belt loop.
This case does not serve the whole purpose for which it was designed. A simple protective case - if protection is all you're looking for - can be had for less than we paid for this one (at Amazon) and won't come with the annoying addition of a clip that won't clip on and a clasp that won't close.
A protection that do not protect..........2007-11-13
You see, when you first buy this product and receive it, you can actually see why it's so cheap ! The belt clip is really dangerous, if you don't want to give your ipod a look what concrete is like, do not EVER clip it to your belt ! And what about the protection ? Well, apart from the fact that dust comes inside and slowly but surely cover the screen, that you can't plug a headphone correctly (Take a Sony XD-100 for instance, it will always unplug when you run or walk a little bit faster than average !). Still, it's a protection, it protects, but if you have to choose one, do not take this one !

The case perfectly fits my 80G models and the belt clip is a nice option and functions well. For the current price (even including shipping), this is a very good value compared to similar units you'll find at most retail outlets, therefore, I highly recommend this!

After one year of using it:
++ PROS ++
+ Fits snugly, there are two rubber strips on the side for hand grip which also double as grippers for the iPod, they even use rubber cilia to ensure hold.
+ Protects the back and front and sides, but not the top and bottom. This is expected since exposure to headphone jack, hold button and bottom data port is necessary, but you'd hope a company as innovative as Rhino Skin could've figured out how to engineer a solution.
+ Really isn't too heavy, alloy case back and acrylic front cover plate are thrifty when it comes to weight.
+ Works in the Bose SoundDock, so you don't have to constantly remove the iPod from the Rhino and get fingerprints all over it. Most protected iPods won't fit in external speakers since the cradles have zero tolerance.
-- CONS --
- Doesn't protect the click wheel, I never removed the laminate from the front of the iPod so this isn't an issue for me.
- The front acrylic cover becomes scratched up and makes watching video unpleasant at times, better the case than the iPod becomeing scratched.
- Has to be thoroughly cleaned before reinserting iPod, any piece of dirt or grime one the back side of the iPod will get caught between the RhinoSkin and the chrome back and create a groove.
I purchased it the same time with the iPod on the advice of MicroCenter and it has held up quite nicely. Never used the belt clip since I just drop the iPod and RhinoSkin in my pocket with other things like keys and cell phone.
When I've dropped the iPod, it has never separated from the RhinoSkin case, unlike other RhinoSkins that fit snugly, this one depends on two rubber grippers with cilia that also double as the hand grips to keep the iPod in place, even after a year of daily use these grips haven't weakened.
It will increase the thickness of the iPod and will no longer fit in most docks and cradles but that is what the cover is for and most case protected iPods won't fit in any cracles when protected. BUT THIS WILL FIT INSIDE A BOSE SOUND DOCK IF YOU REMOVE THE BOSE BASE PLATE. This is convenient since you don't have to constantly remove the iPod from the Rhino and get fingerprints all over it.
Having been a loyal user of RhinoSkins for my cell phone and PDA's, I would recommend this protection for your iPod.

It said scratch proof, but that was a lie...however, I'd rather the case have minor scratches in it than the ipod itself...the waist clip is great though...
Not what I had hoped for..........2006-11-28
Considering what I paid for this case, I am admittedly more disappointed than impressed. The pros: The case feels quite sturdy, although it is very lightweight. This sturdy case may add a bit more bulk to the unit than some people would like. There is a clear, polycarbonate cover for the screen. The aluminum backing looks very cool. My 30Gb slipped into this case snuggly and was not scratched by insertion at all. The cons are there is no protection whatsoever for the top of the Ipod, or for the click wheel. The opening for the bottom port is small, so removing the Ipod from the cover entails having to push directly on the port from the bottom. There is no bottom port cover either. If you're going to buy the Monster ILink A/V cable to watch your Ipod vids on TV (Awesome cable BTW), you're going to have to remove the Ipod from this case, because the opening around the bottom port is too small to allow an adeqate connection. (This cable is plugged into the bottom port instead of the earphone jack as on others).
The Rhinoskin case is protecting the Ipod's essentials, but it could be better. Now that I've taken the time to shop around and read the reviews, I'm buying a better case (or so the ratings say). I'll definitely hang onto this one though to have as a spare.
Protects screen but not click wheel area.......2006-06-14
I purchased this product soon after I bought my ipod. Had even left the annoying shrink wrap on until I had a proper case... The result? Two months of use and huge gouges in the face near the click wheel. Even upon slipping the ipod into the case the first time some scratching occured across the click wheel. The case fits much tighter on the lower half of the ipod with a gap between the face of the screen and the case. Through normal use the occasional piece of sand/pocket [...] worked its way into the case. Since there is no way to remove the ipod other than slipping it in and out I watched in horror as the scratches occurred in the process.
Other negatives:
-Case adds alot of width to the ipod
-Opening in bottom not sufficient for connection to Belkin auto adapter.
Solution:
Use the Apple supplied case..you're much better off

I read lots of steller reviews about this product about how the ipod is so protected inside etc. Well, this product is extremely heavy and made in ipod twice its size, and the belt clip kept breaking. what would happen is I'd be wearing my ipod on the belt clip and then there would go my ipod in the case on the floor while the belt clip was still attached to my pants. I guess, rhinoskin's protection did help my ipod with stand a few falls, but with a better case it wouldn't be an issue. I returned this product right afterwards.

Weak belt clip.......2007-09-27
The padding seems adequate and is absolutely necessary because the belt clip does not work very well. It has fallen off twice this morning alone. I think the spring load on the clip is too loose and there is no overlap on the clip teeth. As a result it has fallen off both my belt and the belt loop of my pants. I do not have this problem with my cell phone belt clip and my phone is much bulkier than my ipod.
The only reason I gave this case two stars is because of the price. As the previous reviewer stated there is no screen or keypad protection.
Good all around cheap priced case.......2007-09-23
I like the look, functionality, and price of this. I was unaware that it didn't have screen or keypad protection though. Besides that, the case is built well with padding inside, all features of the ipod are easily accessible, and the belt clip seems sturdy enough to clip the ipod on the inside of a pocket or for a stand when playing video. I just need to buy some screen protectors to fully protect but this case seems good if you want to remove the ipod to swap it with another case or dock it often and it seems to have good anti shock too in the padding.

This is a great case. It is very sturdy and light weight. Inside the case is lined with felt so you don't have to worry about the case scratching your iPod. And the thumb wheel protection actually makes the thumb wheel easier to use. No need to take your iPod out of the case to sync either.

I've been very happy with this case. A little more expensive than average but appears to protect the iPod well. Don't have much to add from the previous reviews. I would give it 5 stars, except the case is too big to fit in a universal dock, so I have to take the iPod out to dock it. The openings fit fine for all cables I have used.

I love this case and the beautiful matte black finish. It is slim and solid and protects what needs to be protected: Hard plastic over the display and a rubbery substance over the click wheel. The Ipod fits snugly in the neoprene lining, The belt clip works well when you decide to put it on, so does the plastic covered cable neck lanyard. The whole case fits in my arm band! How convenient! The apple sync cable works with it, but I had to file down my icarplay fm transmitter plug to fit. No problem. I highly recommend this $20. gem!

Just what I was looking for!.......2007-10-24
After researching aluminum cases for weeks, I finally found exactly what I wanted. Every other aluminum case had hinges or other things on the outside of the case that I didn't want. I wanted to keep the case as slim & sleek as my new Ipod Classic 80GB. I had almost resigned myself to one of those when I found this case from Core Cases. A great slim design with no external hardware. There is even a rubber plug to cover the exposed docking port.
I received it very quickly and it was a perfect fit for my Ipod. Then I hit a snag. The protective screen seemed to have bubbles in it. When I tried to smooth them out I thought I had badly scratched the screen. Upset with my new toy, I contacted the folks at Core Cases about my problem.
I could not believe their response. They informed me that the screen had a protective film on both sides that needed to be removed & then would probably would be ok. But if after I removed the film, there were still any scratches on the screen they would but a new case in the mail. Really!
When I removed the film there was a big difference & no bubbles but there were still scratches on the screen. But I didn't know if it was my fault or if it had come that way. I sent them an e-mail explaining that to them and they responded by sending a new screen cover the next day. It's been a very long time since I received such great "Customer Service"!
So, not only did I get a great case for my Ipod but great customer service too! Highly Recommended!
