This case was purchased for use with an IPod Video 60GB.
The case was sturdy and nice looking on the whole. I was worried about it scratching up my IPod but it came lined with felt and a piece of replacement felt. It was easy to use, the click wheel is very accessible, and no part of the screen is covered by the edges of the case. That said, the case needs to be significantly redesigned to be considered a good product. As others have mentioned it most certainly doesn't fit the 60GB. There is a simple snap-clasp on one long side that is supposed to keep it closed, but with my IPod in the case it is not even close to closing. There is about a 2 mm. crack all around the case that lets in all manner of dirt and dust, besides allowing the IPod to shift in the case. One of the good things, the felt, quickly began to peel off around the edges and especially in the corners from the shifting weight of the IPod. Also, while the metal of the case is thick enough to be protective, the edges were not finished off well. I have sliced my finger more than once spinning through playlists - nothing terrible, but like getting a papercut from a thick birthday card. Finally, the belt clip is terrible. It might as well not be there it's so useless. The clip slips off the "button" that attaches it to the case with the slightest of bumps. Even clipping onto my pocket backwards (with the case actually in my pocket and the clip showing on the outside of the pocket) did not stop the clip from popping off the case. Also, it has no grip. Clip it to anything, thick or thin, and you can easily slide it off with the push of a finger. Because the clip swivels the weight of my IPod has actually caused it to simply slide and drop off when I've had it clipped to a belt loop.
This case does not serve the whole purpose for which it was designed. A simple protective case - if protection is all you're looking for - can be had for less than we paid for this one (at Amazon) and won't come with the annoying addition of a clip that won't clip on and a clasp that won't close.
A protection that do not protect..........2007-11-13
You see, when you first buy this product and receive it, you can actually see why it's so cheap ! The belt clip is really dangerous, if you don't want to give your ipod a look what concrete is like, do not EVER clip it to your belt ! And what about the protection ? Well, apart from the fact that dust comes inside and slowly but surely cover the screen, that you can't plug a headphone correctly (Take a Sony XD-100 for instance, it will always unplug when you run or walk a little bit faster than average !). Still, it's a protection, it protects, but if you have to choose one, do not take this one !

The case perfectly fits my 80G models and the belt clip is a nice option and functions well. For the current price (even including shipping), this is a very good value compared to similar units you'll find at most retail outlets, therefore, I highly recommend this!

Nice but Flawed.......2007-08-22
I bought the claro about three months ago. It does what it is supposed to do but about a month ago one of the plastic rings that secures the belt clip to the body of the claro cracked and lost a piece. I did not handle the iskin roughly so it is a surprise that this happened. Now the belt clip is only secured by one ring and is only a matter of time before it snaps.

I needed a case that could take a beating since I'll be sharing my ipod 30GB with my kids. After reading the reviews about most headphone jacks not fitting, I went to the Apple store to buy one since they have an excellent return policy of "if I didn't like it, I can return it with no restocking fee". Everyone is correct about the headphone jacks not fitting. That's where a Dremel tool solves everything! Use a cone tip and make the hole in the outter shell bigger.
The inner silicone is a bit of a dust collector, but only if you keep taking it out of the plastic shell. I don't have anything to dock it in to so just stays in the shell. The belt clip feel flimsy. I don't know if I trust it clipped to my Camelbak if I'm running around.
It would be a 5 star product, but it's too pricey and I had to make the enhancement.
Great quality and features.......2007-06-29
This is the best case I have been able to find in terms of quality and features. I love the stand, the clip is nice (even though some people consider it a negative, I like it), and I like the customabilty. My black iPod is now purple and looks really great thanks to the iSkin Slim, but unfortunately they only come in 3-packs and will add another $20 to this already pricey case. I think it's worth it though. With the last case I had, the screen was all scratched up after just the first day of use, and it was bulky as it was one-size-fits-all. This case is custom-made for the 30gb iPod and fits perfectly, and truly is scratch-resistent. If really protecting your iPod and having it look nice is worth a few extra bucks, you should definitely invest in this product.

This is a great idea, however the clip broke he first time Used it.
One other thing that is misleading is the color. The under case is not clear at all so your black ipod will look gray.

Good low profile ipod protection. This slim case will scratch but your ipod won't. However, I wish there was some silicone padding to keep the ipod from wiggling around and/or keep dust from getting inside the case. Also, I only wanted one (I gave away the other two to friends). Overall, good product, keeps ipod small and slim.

I got mine for $30 at an electronics store. They protect my iPod very well. The USB adpter fits with the case on as well as the iPod headphones. I don't know about headphones with an angled plug though. The hold button is a little harder to access. It was a little thicker and heavier than i expected. As it has been said before, they do scratch pretty easily. I'm not too fond of the red case because i have a white iPod.

They look good, and the DO protect my ipod, but since they are plastic take all the damage, and look scratched making my ipod look scratched, i know that inside is intact, but sometimes outside looks kind of old.
But they are very good choice, very hard case, and protects well, i would only wished for some protection for the wheel.

I've had this case for about 3 months now and its worked perfectly. It isnt very hard to open the case as others have commented and the only things I didnt like about it was that the hole for the headphones is too small if you want to plug in anything but the ipod earphones, I had to use a drill to make the hole larger. The other thing I didnt like was that my ipod wont fit the dock on my ihome unless I take the case off. All in all it is a good product offering my ipod protection and it looks nice.

This case sucks. Yes it's sturdy but that's about it. You cannot plug the ipod in since the hole in the bottom is not large enough to be able to release the plug-in to take it off. If you want to charge your ipod you have to take it out of the case so why even buy a case?? Though it didn't even cost me a dollar to buy this (of course plus shipping) it really makes me angry that a simple product like this one does not even fit the needs of my Ipod so I'll be buying a new case. Oh and you cannot even use it as a necklace since it bounces, it just sucks.

I bought this case for my sister to go along with the iPod that I gave her for Christmas and she absolutely loves it. It is lightweight, gives her mp3 player a cool look so that it doesn't look like everyone elses, and the cord allows for easy handling of the iPod while keeping the other hand free...It's definitely a buy, especially for the price.
Poorly designed........2006-02-09
I bought this case for a few reasons: I wanted something that fully protected my iPod from scratches; I wanted something that would not interfere with the aesthetics of the iPod; and I wanted a case that was fast and easy to get the iPod into and out of. The Dioshield performs fantastically on all three counts.
Nonetheless, the case only rates 2 stars, as there are some significant design flaws. Before I discuss these flaws, however, I should mention that the hold button problem that others have mentioned in their reviews appears to have been resolved. My case arrived a few days ago, and the cut out for the hold button was more than large enough to allow free and easy access. If I want to, I can use my thumb to engage or disengage the hold switch while the iPod is in the case. However, this does bring us to the first of the aforementioned design flaws: the cut-out hole for the headphones. It is, admittedly, the perfect size for the jack on the Apple ear-bud headphones. However, I have Shure E2C's, which have a slightly wider jack, and they were not able to fit through the Dioshield's headphone cut-out. So if you have after-market headphones, especially ones with a 90 degree angled jack, or one that is particularly thick, you may run into compatibility issues. More alarming, the jack on my AV cord wouldn't fit into the headphone cut-out on the Dioshield, either, meaning that I'd need to take the iPod out of it's case if I wanted to watch a show on my television. I managed to work-around this problem by enlarging the hole with a Dremel, but still... it is annoying, and if you don't have a Dremel, or are reluctant to take it to your new case, then you might be s.o.l. when it comes to AV cables or better quality headphones.
Okay, onto the second design flaw. I'm just going to quote a fellow reviewer, H. Park, who articulated this problem most succinctly and clearly: "The bottom of the case leaves a hole for the sync/charge cable. However, because of the proximity of the hinges, it's almost impossible to use the Apple-provided USB sync cable, since this cable is the locking variety with the unlock buttons on the sides of the cable plug. Once the sync cable is inserted and the lock engaged, a narrow object like a knife blade or ruler is required to disengage the cable." This is super-annoying and a puzzling oversight. Why even have the hole there? It's like some kind of cruel joke, reminding us of what we could almost have if only we had bought a different case.
Finally, and this is just a matter of personal taste, and not design, that whole lanyard thing just seems stupid. The iPod with Video is simply not comfortable to wear around your neck for any period of time, plus it bounces around everytime you walk. It is really annoying. I ended up cutting mine off and throwing it away. No one is going to use it that way, and I'm betting that even a modicum of market research would have revealed that. But that's just me. However, I stand by the first two criticisms I made - those are substantial design flaws that make an otherwise excellent product into a merely mediocre one. Yes, you can use better headphones if you take a Dremel to the case, and yes, you can charge the iPod if you take it out of the case, but the whole point is, you shouldn't have to do either of those things, and a case that requires you to do so is substandard.
I doubt I'm going to replace this case with anything else. I have it now, and while I'm not overwhelmed by it, I can go so far as to say that I am whelmed by it. It does what it's supposed to, and I can cope with it's deficits, but I would not buy it again nor can I recommend it all that strongly. Two starts.

After reading other reviews i was skeptical of purchasing the dioshield for my IPOD. I had read a lot about how it interefered with the USB cable or the hold switch. But I couldn't argue with the price.
I must say that this product it actualy one of the best aftermarket IPOD products I have puchased. It does exactly what it is supposed to do, Protect My Ipod. I have no trouble opperating any of the IPOD's buttons and I simply remove the case when I charge the unit. I have not found that it impairs the functionality of the IPOD at all while keeping it securely around my neck. It is perfect for Jogging weight training and other outdoor activitites. I find it much less cumbersome than the armband or belt clip units as it does not impede my range of motion.
Ultimately it perfectly protects my IPOD when I am out and about which is what it was designed to do.
The reasons I gave it 4 and not 5 stars was the laniard feels a little short not much but a little. and I whished they had mounted the IPOD right side up like they did on the nano model.
Over all I am well pleased

Weak belt clip.......2007-09-27
The padding seems adequate and is absolutely necessary because the belt clip does not work very well. It has fallen off twice this morning alone. I think the spring load on the clip is too loose and there is no overlap on the clip teeth. As a result it has fallen off both my belt and the belt loop of my pants. I do not have this problem with my cell phone belt clip and my phone is much bulkier than my ipod.
The only reason I gave this case two stars is because of the price. As the previous reviewer stated there is no screen or keypad protection.
Good all around cheap priced case.......2007-09-23
I like the look, functionality, and price of this. I was unaware that it didn't have screen or keypad protection though. Besides that, the case is built well with padding inside, all features of the ipod are easily accessible, and the belt clip seems sturdy enough to clip the ipod on the inside of a pocket or for a stand when playing video. I just need to buy some screen protectors to fully protect but this case seems good if you want to remove the ipod to swap it with another case or dock it often and it seems to have good anti shock too in the padding.
