QUALITY CONTROL ISSUES.......2007-12-26
Apparently, it's a hit or miss with this product. Unfortunately for me, the shelves were fine at the toppermost use and on the bottom shelve. Anything in between will not work. On my unit, the outside particle boards are both bowed. Consequently, the shelves will not hold unless you extend the dowels that keep the shelving in place. It's a hassle. I should have sent them back. Buyer be wary if purchasing this item. I am qurious on point of origin???

Shortly after purchasing, the screws in the top began to call out and the piece would collapse. Poor quality, will not buy another one again.

I bought this to store my extensive DVD collection on. Assembly is easy and fast, but there is a lack of support to prevent the shelving from swaying. The shelves are just supported by little metal screws that stick out, and because of the lack of support in the middle of the shelves, they just fall down. I did attempt to make custom modifications, but it was basically a loss at that point.
If you are capable of making adjustments and have time to trouble shoot faulty furniture, this is the perfect DVD storage unit.
A pile of junk.......2007-10-26
This was the only cd shelve that was for sale at the store where I bought it from so I had no options. After I assembled it, I noticed that the a few shelves would collapse because the structure was flimsy and not durable. As you can imagine every now and then I would sit in my room and the top shelve would collapse, which would have a domino effect, causing the other shelves to collapse. It was so cheap and unreliable that I pitched the whole thing away! This is garbage! Does not deserve any stars in my rating--I had to give it at least one star to submit my review.

I have three of these cabinets. They are made from cheap material, but work very well at holding cd's,movies,and even books. I have moved three times with my shelves, and they are still in good condition. Not the best product.. but they work well, are durable and are pretty cheap compared to other shelving units.

Great value for the capacity........2007-12-27
This shelf is quite worth the price if you are looking for a high-volume storage solution on a budget. Don't expect the world's greatest shelving unit, and if you can afford a high-quality unit in the three to seven hundred dollar range, you should go with that. But if you are an individual who, such as myself, allocates most of your personal spending budget on multimedia, and need an affordable way to keep it all together, then do not hesitate on the Oskar shelf. I've owned one for my CDs for nearly a year now, and it's been such a useful setup that I recently purchased a second Oskar unit for my DVDs, as they've outgrown my older case.

The storage units serve their purpose BUT for what we paid, the contruction isn't that good. we had to be real careful when we moved them they bowed in th middle. as long as they stay put they are ok and look nice.

I have bought three of these puppies, one for DVDs and two for CDs and they give you the maximum storage with the minimum space for a reasonable cost. Takes about 40 min to assemble.

I own a slightly smaller version of this cabinet. We found it easy to assemble, sturdy, & of great quality. The shelves are all able to be individually placed at a variety of heights except for the on in the middle of the cabinet; this shelf & the verticle supports stabalize the cabiner. The cabinet is the perfect depth for CDs & DVDs as well as VHS tapes (including the ones in in the big plastic cases, like the Disney ones). While this look may not fit in with some decor, this cabinet is quite versitle & is a great storage solution, especially if you have several different types of media you want to store on one location.

Nice cabinet.......2007-12-07
This is a very nice looking cabinet. It's a little pricy but it looks very nice. One reviewer stated the top magents interfered with DVD storage, I have not had this problem. I think it holds roughly 25 DVDs per shelf.
Assembly is very easy. The instructions state the crossbar in the middle is optional but that it adds stability if installed. If you do install it then you will lose considerable dvd storage space on the middle shelf. You will only be able to store DVDs or CDs sideways. If you don't intend on moving the cabinet very much once assembled then you probably won't need the crossbar. If you rearrange often then you should use it as it would be pretty wobbly without it. It does give you a screw to secure it to a wall so if you intend on doing that then I would definitely not use the crossbar, it would just take up unnecessary room.
And don't think you can just remove the bar after install if it doesn't work for you. You have to disassemble the whole thing to take it out.
Overall, I'm happy with it for its size. I could personally use a larger cabinet but couldn't find anything else reasonably priced that looked as nice as this one.

I bought this cabinet and I'm somewhat dissatisfied.
The assembly is not complicated, it uses bolts with cam locks.
PRO's: Finish, color, enclosed to keep dust out.
CON's: poor door hinge design; it's too small and spacing for DVD's is very restrictive.
The doors do not close evenly and make contact with the shelving.
DVD space is lost because of the top door magnets.
Summary: nice looks but lack of spacing between DVD/shelves and doors causes problems with proper clsosing. Everything is very tightly packed.

The description of this product says "wood construction". While I certainly did not expect solid wood for $30.99, I thought it must at least have wooden sides. Not so. There is absolutely no wood in this thing. The box says "wood product", which is essentially particle board.
I hope Amazon corrects the product information, so people can tell what they are actually ordering.

Took a little time to assemble, but came out great. I always use woodglue in the seams that I can. The shelves do bow and the doors rub on the bottom, but not enough for me to complain about. For the price I have to say I am very satisfied.

While I have always followed the age-old adage of "You Get What You Pay For," I have to say that I was hoping for more, even in this price range. While I am no stranger to assembling furniture such as this, my cabinet had several pieces that just didn't quite line up and, consequently, caused me to re-drill a few holes.
Additionally, while the black veneer is of the quality that one would expect in this range, it was already separating from one of the corners after only a week of ownership. Nothing a little wood glue didn't fix, but it's still a disappointment.
Lastly, the cabinet is very wide but has a very shallow depth, causing it to be fairly unbalanced if you aren't careful about where you place your media. I initially loaded the cabinet at the top and left the bottom empty. It tipped over forward, spilling the contents and creating quite a mess. I shudder to think of the consequences if it had fallen on a child or a pet...

I love the look of this cabinet. It's a sturdy cabinet on carpet and on regular floor. The outer parts of it are solid. My problem with it is the fact that the shelves are particle board and that they bend severely in the middle especially with the shelf being loaded with dvds to the maximum. Even my shelf with few dvds on it is bowing and my two extra shelves also bend, so it wasn't a defect. The good part is that this holds so many dvds, and it is a great buy since other dvd/cd holders that hold 200+ dvds usually cost much more and look terrible. So I would recommend that you buy this, and cut some real wood to size, paint it, and use it instead of the provided shelves.

My only complaint about this unit is that the doors are a little difficult to line up. The door hinge screws are real small and the holes that you screw them into are kind of tight. I used a small, phillip-end, jeweler's screw driver, but I also ended up reaming the hole with a small drill bit so that the screw can go in easier. I recommend a good, sure-grip screwdriver with a small phillip bit to do the job. Also, when I finished assembly, the doors had a tendency to scrape against the bottom of the cabinet stand. I suppose that problem could have been avoided if I had lined up the doors better, but what is an amateur builder to do?
Overall, I am satisfied with the unit despite some minor, construction flaws that could have been avoided with better tools and a better builder. The unit is very attractive looking as I prefer the media storage units with doors rather than the open racks. I highly recommend anchoring the unit to the wall for safety reasons. When the unit is full of DVD's and/or CD's it can tip over very easily.

My media center started to warp; Leslie Dame would not stand behind their products by sending me a replacement. The warranty information states "This product comes with a limited 1-year manufacturer's warranty against product defects." When I called the company, they have changed their warranty to 2 weeks on MDF items and 3 weeks for solid oak. I am concerned that all the on-line stores are still promoting their lies. Leslie Dame does not stand behind their warranty for manufacture defects. Please Do Not Buy Their Products!

We love our new CD cabinet. The storage capacity is large while the footprint of the cabinet is fairly small. We purchased the dark oak version and think it looks great. Good construction. Carefully packaged and delivered on time.
Love the cabinet, but shipping damage a pain.......2007-11-09
The cabinet is well constructed, looks great, and works very nicely for storing our DVDs and VCR tapes. The only downside was the shipping. The first cabinet was damaged in shipping and was not easy to repack in the box. The second cabinet also arrived with some damage, but was not so damaged that it was worth the hassle of repacking it to ship it back. To AVthing in its place's credit, they were very responsive to the shipping problems and also gave us a partial refund for our trouble. Overall I am satisfied with this purchase.

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this piece. Although we had a slight scare when we discovered that the delivery man had left it sitting outside during a rain shower, after I unpacked it and dried it off everything was fine. Very good construction and very nice finish on the wood. I've already filled it up and am considering buying another one.

This cabinet was pretty much as advertised, and about what I expected. The exterior of the cabinet is attractive and appears to be well made. I was somewhat surprised at the number of pieces to sort out, and the interior shelves were not finished to the same level of quality as the main part of the cabinet. All the wood was solid - no veneers or press-wood. It is a good value for the money.

We've had one of these cabinets for about a year. We kept DVDs, VHF tapes, and CDs in it for a while during which time the adjustable shelves helped maximize space utilization. Now it is full of just DVDs. It easily stores 240 DVDs, seems to handle the weight well and is a nice looking piece of durable furniture.

Media Storage Review.......2007-03-14
This is the best all-around media storage cabinet i have owned in over 25 years of storing media. It's outside design is great. The shelving design inside is flexible so you may use it to hold CDs, DVDs, Videos, including those "non-standard sized special edition sets" if you like. It's durable. I've bought six of these and placed two in 3 of the rooms in my house, each of which have different furniture/spacing availability and I've found that these are the right overall size for all of my conditions.
