Nice and thick cables.......2007-12-22
This is a nice audio cable. It gives the feeling of a quality product. I can't objectively judge or claim it's quality since i don't have proper tools, but the cable is thick (still it is flexible), looks solid and the connectors are very nicely done (and gold plated). I can't notice any noise that would be attributed to bad cables. The sound is crisp and clear (this cable runs from CD to receiver) so i am very pleased with the cable.
Isolation has sort of satin-like finish and looks better than "average" cable. Usually one hides these cables so not that important, but it does add to the overall quality feeling.
I would buy this cable again.

Pretty inexpensive wire compared to some other brands, but does the job OK. I'm no audiophile, so I can't tell the difference. Only thing that makes me give it a 3 rating is that, as another poster had mentioned, I don't think I got 50 feet of wire. I only needed about 47-48 feet and I was short by a couple feet! I never actually measured it, but by what I needed it was obvious that the spool didn't contain 50'. Otherwise, buying thru Amazon makes it easy, especially with free shipping over $25. I couldn't find 12GA wire at any of the 'big box' stores like Best Buy or Circuit City.

The 12 guage wire was the correct wire guage for our Home Stereo / HD systems. The wire jacket is for in wall runs. I expect to get many years of performance and enjoyment running our 5.1 system with this cable.

Unless you are a hardcore audiophile, I can't see how you could want any more from your speaker wire. Don't pay too much, just get this stuff. Its oxygen free copper. Its well sheathed. The markings to differentiate the wires are easy to see. It sounds great on my speaker system.
I have a very hard time believing that spending 2 or 3 times this much on similar wire is going to make a big difference over this stuff.
High quality 12-gauge wire at a low cost.......2006-03-11
I really like this Metra speaker wire. I needed 12-gauge wire for my home theater setup, and this worked really well. The quality of the wire was impressive, and the price made it even better. This Metra 12-gauge wire is priced much lower than some of its competitors, but it has all the quality I need. Don't believe all of the hype surrounding certain brands like Monster. Just do a Google search on speaker wire quality and you'll see...the only recommendation I would make it to consider buying the 100 foot spool of this Metra 12-guage wire (Part# S12-100). I ended up ordering multiple 50 foot spools because I ended up using 150 feet of this wire. If I had just ordered a couple of the 100 foot spools, I'd have saved some money overall, and had leftover wire for future use. Make sure you accurately estimate how much speaker wire you really neeed before ordering, as it's very common to underestimate just how much wire is needed.

I bought this cable based on the good reviews at Amazon.com. But it only worked for me for about 1 month. I have problems with one of the 3 connectors and that causes a deep green image. I guess you get what you pay for.

When people tell you that cables matter more than the components you buy and get you to spend more on your cables than on your stereo, they are lying to you and you are getting suckered.
I tried these cables against more expensive cables, did an svid comparison check etc. etc. Well, in the ads, I see all this brighter crisper picture crap. In real life, I see no difference. None. I have an HDTV unit and a very nice DVD player (I won't mention their names) and bottom line, save your money on the cables. Buy solid ones, but not ones with superfluous claims.
Don't buy super cheap cables because the won't hold up, not because the picture on your TV will "come alive".
The cable market is 99% hype to get you to pay hundreds of dollars for cables that are no better than $20 cables.
So what about these cables? Very nice in the 6 foot version. Well made connectors. Solidly made (looks like i could play tug of war with 'em). And absolute no difference between these and Monster and even more overpriced but so called "better" cables.

It's not even a 100 ft long.......2007-12-07
I bought 2-100ft wire and during installation I noticed that I'm short by 10ft, yes it's only 90ft long. So I open the other one and same thing. But I have to install it since I have the time, it's a little tight but just made it where I want the speakers to be. I always like to put some extra in case I need to move the speakers. The wire itself is a very high quality product, no regrets on getting this wire it's just this company seems to be a little short on their product information.
So I called Amazon the next day to inform this and they immidieately refund some money to me for the missing 20ft cable. Amazon is know for best service and that's the reason why I'm still buying from their website.

The speaker wire was alot thicker than I even imagined when it arrived. It seems to be of good quality. I look forward to putting it into use later this month when I redo my surround sound system for movie watching. I would buy the product again from another vendor. NEVER trust ANTOnline again, absolutely horrible lack of customer service. AMAZON couldn't even get a proper response from them.
Short spools.......2007-08-12
I have installed this within walls during construction and have not used it carrying a signal yet, so cannot give any opinion on that. The thing that bothers me though, is that the 100' rolls were actually a little less than 90' long, causing me to call Amazon about the problem. Amazon, to their credit, stood up to more than their responsibility and gave me a discount on another spool of the cable, making up for the shortage.

I ordered a 100 foot roll and only received 91 feet. I needed to make three pieces: 39', 34' and 27' for my home theater. Now I have to buy a whole new 50' roll to complete the job. I noticed someone else had commented on only getting 45' from a 50' roll. I thought it just may be a fluke with the 50' rolls... Guess not! Seems like China likes cutting corners. If you need all 100 feet, or don't like getting gipped, then this isn't the wire for you.

Crashes Computer When Hot.......2007-05-19
This product works great in my 17" Macbook Pro when it is NOT required to perform any labour intensive task. I reguraly work with Pro-tools LE and as a result my Macbook Pro can get quite hot. Using the Expresscard to move audio in and out of the Mac to reduce buss load for Pro-tools actually causes the Macbook to become super overheated. So hot in fact that the Mac simply stops working. The audio stops, the whole screen freezes and the Mac will not respond at all. (I had to remove the battery to reset it as the power button would not respond.) I've never seen such a crash before! So if you are intending to use this card in a Macbook Pro with a program such as Pro-tools LE which is very CPU intensive, I recommend not buying it.
Have Vista - Don't bother.......2007-04-27
I'm running a nice Dell laptop with Vista Ultimate. I bought this firewire card to connect to a new external SATA drive that supports Firewire 800.
Transfer rates are about 1/8th the speed of USB2.0. I'm hard pressed to get it to max out at 1MB/Sec when my USB easily hits 9-10MB/sec.
I just got off the phone with Belkin support.
"Oh, we use the built-in vista drivers."
I asked, "Do the default vista drivers support Fireware 800".
Answer, "No, they only emulate Firewire 400 support".
"When are the drivers for Vista going to be ready?"
"I don't know. If you need Firewire 800 support you should probably return this one and get another kind."

Belkin used to make great gear. This has put me over the edge. I'm done with Belkin.

I have to say I am very unimpressed by the support from Belkin on this product. It is the only product to ever crash my MacBook AND that has no support documentation on the Belkin site.

This pushes the card in which releases the card - which give you a grey curtain effect and a message saying power of your machine due to a crash.
I now have to pay to have this wondrous piece of technology returned.

Works with my MacBook Pro 15" with powered devices but was very sad to find out that it does not work with my 2.5 inch firewire external drive which is powered off of the computer. There is a power input (no help in knowing how to work it) on the side of the device. Adding power from a USB port lit up the drive but would not spin it up. I don't know if it is a power issue or an interface issue with the firmware on my external drive. Belkin's site is useless as there is no support info, extremely limited info on the product, and they don't respond to email. I would have rated them even lower but I have to take responsibility for buying it right out of the chute.
Will not work with Dell Inspiron laptops.......2006-12-30
I previously purchased a SIIG Firewire 800 Expresscard. After several weeks with SIIG tech support I'm told it is a known issue that card won't work with Dell laptops. So ... i phoned Belkin TechSupport before buying this card. They tell me they know of no such problems. Well, card gives exact same problem as SIIG! Works fine on Firewire 400 but the minute you use 1394b (Firewire 800) drivers, my Dell Inspiron 9400 bluescreens and reboots! Emailed and phoned Belkin tech support but no response/solution. From my experience, Dell Inspiron 9400/E1705's can't support Firewire 800.
Update: after almost 2 months of trying to get a resolution from Belkin, they advise their product development team is "still working on the problem". Would I recommend buying a Belkin product, no way, that level of customer service is a disgrace.

I consider myself an audiophile so when installing in-wall wires for my home theater I wanted to be sure I used quality cables. I do not believe that $10,000 speaker cables perform any better than any other oxygen free cable of the same gauge. These cables are 12 gauge, well constructed, and are very pliable so they are easy to snake through walls for installation. If you are looking for a high quality speaker cable I recommend them highly.

This speaker wire looks awesome! Moreover it performs very well and installs fairly easily (in wall) and would install with zero problems when used as in-room (nothing inside the wall) speaker wire. The wire bundle is fairly thick (cylindrical) and clear with 2 double-twisted pairs of wire bundles inside. One set is in a wire sleeve and the other in another clear sleeve. Both the red and clear wire bundles are encased in thick casing and twisted around each other. The materials used are top-notch and some of the best speaker wire casing I've ever used. The wire-count is slightly above average but is plenty enough for any pro-sumer level enthusiast.
Bottom line, this capable product looks cool, is designed very well, and is an excellent value for someone looking for good 12x2 AWD speaker cable.
