Nothing but trouble.......2007-12-08
I purchased the 342 model back in April.
Within a month, the power went out on the TV. Numerous phone attempts to the manufacturer with extended hold times, and now in December, my TV still hasn't been repaired or replaced. The only way for me to ge the TV repaired is to send it out to a manufacturers representative, as this is apparently how the warranty works. Try getting a 42 inch TV back to a manufacturers rep, without a box to send it in.
My last contact with this company was in early November, when I sent them documents for a replacement TV (with a hold put on my credit card for full purchase value), and I've still heard nothing back from this company.
The product obviously is inferior, and their customer service is even worse.
18 months a bust - Customer service terrible - Dont buy Olevia.......2007-11-01
It seems like a lot of people have had problems with Olevia products right after the warranty expires. I purchased the LT37HVS and after 18 months the screen started displaying two horizontal lines in the center. I brought it directly to Olevia manufacturer in the City of Industry and after weeks of calling them for a status (poor customer service), they claimed the unit had a bad main board that needed to be replaced (I seriously believe they just looked at it and didn't even test it). $256 parts and $100 labor. After cost and tax we're looking at almost $400 to fix. I told Olevia not to fix it and to send it back to me. (On principle of course) I liked the picture but after this experience, it would be hard for me to buy another Olevia product again. I'm going to spend a little extra next time and get something with more quality. I recommend you do the same.
Great bargain, until it dies on you........2007-07-20
What a great TV, I loved it, for over 8 months it was a fantastic set. DVDs look amazing, cartoons are so bright you need lights on to watch them or you will go blind. Lots of inputs I will never use. Want more positives, go read someone else. Want the skinny on the negs? It buzzes constantly, no matter what you do to the sound adjustments, it will buzz, forget trying to set the backlight to "Bright" the audio pays dearly for it. Even with the sound turned down to where you can't hear it, the buzz is there, loud as ever. Yeah, turning the backlight down helps, but then the TV is darker. I like it bright. OK, it's a minor thing, and for the price, I got mine for $980, small thing to complain about. BUT, after 8 months, the screen just went on me, I mean it is flickering like it wants to send me into a seizure. Picture is dark, screen is strobing, Tv is shot. From what I understand, Olevia has a problem with this in some of it's TVs. Hopefully the warranty is as good as everyone says. Get what you pay for, go buy a sony, at least they have someone at customer service to take care of you, and make sure you get an extended FULL REPLACEMENT warranty, not a repair warranty.
I got ripped off dont make the same mistake.......2007-07-03
Well I wouldnt give this any stars, i was all excited, because i got a good deal on this tv ($850) and I am in Iraq. So i was really looking forward to getting home and having this ready for me to set up and enjoy. Then a few hours later when i am talking to my wife online, she gets a call from the tv store. They dont have any of these tv's, so they want to substitute it with an LG372CD. Not even in the same ball park. If I wanted a cheap crappy lcd tv with very little features, i would have waited til i got home and went to wally world. They tried to convince my wife it was a much better tv and was a huge upgrade. When she relayed to them that i am not a crackhead they were going to take advantage of, they offered a zenith instead. I still wasnt buying that load. So i had my wife call amazon customer service and ask if it was standard practice for 3rd parties to advertise and sell items on amazon that they dont have. And they said it wasnt there problem, we had to deal with the tv store. So now i will never buy anything from amazon ever again. And the tv store treated us to a free downgrade to the LT237HVS. How nice of them, now i am left with only 1 hdmi input, and a much cheaper and older tv with less features than the one i paid for. I am beside myself mad, its a real shame i have to turn in my weapon and ammunition before i get home. So even though i paid for this model tv, i will never get to own it. Do yourself a favour, go buy it in the store or on ebay. These people are crooks. And they didnt even apologize for ripping me off.
Looks good out of the gate, but stumbles before the finish.......2007-05-10
I have purchased 4 Olevia TV's (from 27" to 42") and until recently I would have recommended them to anyone. First there was slow rebates, but I was aware of that problem when I made the purchase. Then it came time for service, and my experience was the same as recent reviews. They are very nice and promise to take care of everything... DON'T BET THE FARM. Just like others have said here, they say parts will be shipped (in my case on the 3rd) then a week or two later you'll find out that parts haven't shipped, or on back order. BIG HINT: If the manufacture of a product has major components on back order, your's is not the only one broke.
I've bought 4, but Olevia has got the last dollar from me and if you're smart they wouldn't get your first one. I think some retailers like Office Depot and HSN have dropped the line and just selling off stock.
DO NOT BUY! You have been warned.

GREAT PICTURE BUT BEWARE: ANNOYING BLUE LIGHT!.......2007-10-08
37" for less than $600...I got this set in February of 2007. I have used it as my bedroom set. The picture is amazing with my TWC HD Cable box and with my upconverting dvd.
There are two issues that one should be aware of. First - limited jacks and lack of tuner, but you knew that.
Second issue: when the tv is off, superbright blue light comes on. If you use this in the bedroom it can be very annoying at night. The light is very very bright at night. I ended up taking a piece of dark scotch tape and covering the light - now it is fine.
Other than the annoying blue light. the picture is excellent and I recommend this as super value.
Olevia 337H 37" LCD HD Ready Monitor .......2007-10-04
I BOUGHT THIS PRODUCT AFTER SIFTING THROUGH MANY REVIEWS AT MANY DIFFERENT WEBSITES. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE PICTURE AND SOUND QUALITY OF THIS UNIT.
Huge Bang for the Buck.......2007-09-09
Found this sweet boy for $619 NEW w/free shipping and am I glad I jumped on it.
Superb picture...rich blacks, sharp as a tack and super contrast. Absolutely no negatives on this picture quality.
And, it has some features I've seen no where else, such as the ability to change the backlighting to suit bright, medium and dark rooms at the touch of a button.
Also, user access to the tweaking the red, blue and green drives so that you can dial in perfect color and hue using test DVD's such as AVIA.
Look up the word "value" in the dictionary, and you'll find a picture of this 37" monitor!

Nothing but good things to say about this monitor.......2007-07-22
It is easy to set up, well worth the money. If they had a bigger size, we would buy it. Excellent color, wonderful sound. If you are able to take advantage of HDMI, picture is unbelievable.
Quit working correctly after 1 week.......2007-07-13
Due to the ultra low price of this TV I decided to get one for the bedroom. It worked great for about a week now the picture scrolls up and down consistently. All of the inputs starting doing this besides the composite connection. Now it does it also. Even the logo jumps when you first turn the tv on. The volume is another problem. When watching DirecTv, the lowest volume setting is still sometimes too loud and there are no adjustments. I have contacted support about this issue and they said I had to ship the tv to California at my expense. They said if I am worried that the same issue will happen again that I should have bought an extended warranty. I guess you get what you pay for.

Best TV .......2007-12-24
Pros:
1. Lot of inputs. Now TV comes with 2 HDMI inputs. So, I do not need to change HDMI cables between DVD player and Dish TV input.
2. VGA component input. So, I can see youtube videos on big TV easily.
3. Excellent picture. You must see picture clarity of discovery HD theater channel. It is amazing.
4. Good quality sound. Use HDMI cables.
Cons (these do not stop owning this beautiful TV.
These are minor. If manufacturer fixes these, then it would be good. Many other reviewers also wrote similar list)
1. It takes around 5 secs to power on.
2. Dish remote won't work for this TV. That means you need to use TV remote for volume control and switch on and off.
Many other reviewers have commented on NO printed manual and only CD manual. If you have computer, then PDF document is preferred. Because I can search easily.
If you are planning to buy this TV, you can go ahead and buy this TV without hesitation. You won't get disappointed. My recommendation is buy HDMI cable from amazon along with this TV. You would get HDMI cable for
< 0.5 cents on amazon, if you go to any store it would cost > 25.
Research helps: Olevia 37" HDTV.......2007-12-21
The setup is not very hard. Comcast's mistakes were my biggest problem, so be sure you know what kind of box you want and your cables are good ones.
Picture very good. Although I have surround sound, the TV's sound is not bad in itself.
Discount Jungle even registered it for me.
Overall, I'm very satisfied.
P.S.: One glitch. The instructions are not printed, but on a disk with a number of pdfs. Saw this reported before by reviewer. The company really should remedy this.
Great TV for the price.......2007-12-15
Pros:
*Great Price
*Great Picture.
*Owned it 7 months with no problems.
Cons:
*Menu's on TV is hard to use. ( But once its set up you never have to use the menu buttons again , not a big deal
*Cheap universal remotes don't work with this tv
*Sound is not that great, but I don't care about that since I go through my stereo receiver.
I would not hesitate to buy an Olivia Brand TV in the future, I know people who payed way more for there comparable (1080i) HD TV and the picture looks just as good.
Not perfect, but I'd buy it again...........2007-12-12
The set came yesterday, so I'm on day two. The little setup sheet that comes with it is not much help, and the user manual is on CD, both poor. Beyond that, I'm completely satisfied. There was a little leaflet that invited me to call tech support for setup help, which I did. I had almost zero wait time, the tech was pleasant and competent, and got me set up fast. We had to wait for the set to do a channel search, and he was patient and pleasant. I haven't had tech support that good in a long time. The picture is bright, clear, and crisp. I like it a lot. I have not attached a bunch of devices to it, and since my hearing is poor, I really can't evaluate the sound. It sounds fine to me. I am attached to DISH TV and an external antenna, and pull in stations from 100 miles away over the air. The tuner must be pretty good. I'm sure that over time I will experiment with more bells and whistles. Assuming it just keeps running, I will be most pleased with my purchase. I am probably going to need another TV for a vacation home, and I will buy another 537H without hesitation.
A quirky but decent TV.......2007-12-04
Largely on the basis on a high Consumer Reports recommendation, I bought our set several months ago.
The picture quality has generally been excellent in all modes, although I consistently use the screen "cropping" setting to get rid of annoying lines at the edges of the screen on a few channels (which may be due to the cable feed we receive).
The sound quality is also good, although the lowest volume setting could be lower (for watching the TV very quietly at night). Sometimes when I have the volume set at the lowest level and then hit the mute button, getting out of the mute mode results in no sound at all until I tweak the volume control again.
The phone customer service rots. Over several calls, I found it next to impossible to connect with somebody who spoke decent enough English to really understand. And speaking of English, some of the menus and on-screen messages include insultingly poor grammar (e.g., "not exist" for a channel selection with no signal, "not rating" for an unrated program, etc.); the customer service people had zero interest in hearing about this. The instruction manual is difficult to understand, with no meaningful explanation for what many of the functions and settings supposedly do. Customer service can't explain things any better either. To get around the problem of no printed manual, we printed out the entire PDF file (about 40 pages worth) and keep the printout near the TV.
Another quirk: When I switch channels (which can take several long seconds), the program name is often wrong or filled with garbage characters. And even though I have programmed the TV to skip certain channels, sometimes they reappear in the active channel lineup anyway. And yesterday, the "favorites" button refused to work after one of the channels had been shifted to a different frequency by my cable operator.
On the positive side, the TV is an energy sipper. When off, it consumes 1-2 watts of energy; I measured it. When powered on, it consumes about 135 watts on the "dark room" brightness setting and 185 watts on the "bright room" setting. In the "dark room" setting, the TV emits a faint hum. BTW, for those of you bothered by the bright blue power off light, a little piece of black tape over most of the light (i.e., top two thirds) works wonders! Of course, that doesn't stop the TV from making metallic expansion and contraction sounds (sort of like what baseboard hot water heat sounds like) when it's powered on or off.

Customer Reviews:
Very pleased and surprised.......2007-12-11
I did plenty of research on this TV and it has surpased all my expectations. This set has 2 hdmi slots and included is a 6ft hdmi cable. The owners manual is on cd but if you own any amount of newer electronic equipment is is no big deal. Very easy to make all the adjustments, color, tint, temp. It has a bright blue led standby light that makes for a nice nightlite but it can be disabled. I hooked it up to a HD antenna and the picture is superb. I have a 55" Sony and it is every bit as good. Very easy to program the hd channels and gives you a strength signal as it goes through the program. I would definatley recommend this product, watch for the deals I got mine for under $500. Olevia is on the rise in the LCD market
Withholding Judgement.......2007-06-16
I bought the TV from Target.com and got the set in a reasonable amount of time. I have a problem that makes me withhold judgment. It shuts down periodically, no power at all. I can hear the transformer powering up and down so I think it's a thermal problem.
Called Olevia and they suggested I return it. I just went through the replacement process so I'll be working through that process.
While it has been working (about 45 minutes at a time) I really like the picture and it's auto scan did a good job on my cable (analog and digital). If not for the power-down I'd rate the TV very high. And the channels do change slowly, but a lot better than on my ReplayTV.
Worked fine just out of the box, very happy with the purchase.......2007-06-13
We installed our TV last night and overall we are very happy with our purchase. We took advantage of the sale at Target and after applying for their credit card, the price was way too attractive.
I haven't adjusted any settings (even the ones recommended in quick reference manual) yet. Will do those things as time permits and will update this review if I come across something significant.
I connected an existing cheap rabbit ears antenna to the TV and it scanned and found numerous SD and HD channels. HD off the air reception is just wonderful.
This TV has only one antenna input. We have cable (no HD) coming out from co-axial cable and this rabbit ears antenna that also connects to the antenna via co-axial. Fortunately, I had a co-axial cable splitter (Y) and it worked perfectly. I connected cable output and antenna output to each of the inputs of Y splitter and connected the output of Y to TV. When I set the TV to the channel where cable is coming, TV automatically switches to cable channels and then I use cable remote to change the cable channels.
Standard definition programs:
SD, on the other hand, was worse than our 10-year old 27" CRT TV on some channels. What is interesting is, the advertisements looked very sharp, bright, and colorful. Programs themselves were mediocre. It is possible that the channels we tried either weren't recorded with best quality or not transmitted at best quality. I have to see how I can improve the quality of SD programs. We really don't want to subscribe to HD cable.
HD Off-the-air programs:
Way more than satisfactory to my eyes. If you go to a store and compared the screen of 237H to some other brand/model, you may find this inferior. Other brands "may be" really good or may be they were just setup that way on display. But, you will be very happy that you saved hundreds of $ since picture quality seems wonderful at home. (We also have a 61" Samsung HD DLP TV in the living room. So, I do know what to expect from a HD TV.)
Panorama mode aspect:
Panorama mode is disappointing on 237H. (Panorama mode streatches 4:3 picture to 16:9 in such a way that people and things in the middle of the picture don't look fat and stretched. The way they do it is by keeping the picture in the middle intact and streching progressively on the left and right sides of the picture.) Panorama mode on our main TV (DLP) is really smooth and we use it a lot, but on 237H it is very bad. I am not sure if we will ever use that aspect mode. The problem in 237H is that it looks like we are watching the TV through a fish bowl.
Other:
I have read some people complain that channel switching is slow. I haven't noticed anything like that. It worked fine for me.
My TV has 2 HDMI inputs - I have read elsewhere that some people got only one HDMI input.
The TV came with one HDMI cable, one power cable, quick reference poster, remote control + batteries, and a CD ROM. Manual is only in CD ROM - no book is supplied. You will be able to find the manual of 237V (almost identical TV) on the Internet.
When the TV is powered off, a bright blue LED light comes on and it goes off when the TV is powered on. It is way too bright in the bed room; I have to cover it up with some tape. In a living room, it may act like a night light.
It was very easy to setup - took me less than one hour to take down existing TV, place this TV, make all the connections, perform basic initial setup, and start watching (enjoying) the programs.
Update 6/15/2007:
Setup menu allows to disable (turn off) the bright blue LED in the front.
No PIP buttons on the remote; you have to use setup menu to control PIP. Based on some threads on forums elsewhere on the Internet, PIP function has limitations.
Yes, you can view the picture for full 178 degrees, but the picture quality starts deteriorate as you move away from the front.
Still enjoying the product very much and very happy with the purchase.
Update 6/18/2007:
Standard definition picture quality is now acceptable after setting noise reduction to high and iDEA setting to black level control.
Update 7/3/2007:
My camera (Canon S2 IS) can shoot excellent video in VGA (640x480) resolution. When I play the video on my other DLP TV, it would stretch the video to fit the screen and blur the picture. 237T supports a display aspect called 1:1 which will show the video as it is without any stretching. I like this feature a lot - even though the picture size becomes small, the quality is very pleasing.

Customer Reviews:
Great TV! Pray it doesn't break........2007-10-25
I loved this TV until the motherboard fried on it. Called Customer service the next day, 25 minute wait... great. Finally got a representative and they were fine everything was taken care of except they wouldn't pay the shipping for sending their broken TV back to them. Alright, I'm kind of in a pickle so I'll pay that shipping. "May take up to 7 days to process", are you kidding. What am I supposed to do now? Take up crafts? Two weeks later call again. Another 25 minute wait, now I'm upgraded to priority processing, call in 2 days for your tracking number. Call 4 days later, "It hasn't gone out yet, but we'll put you on our priority list and call you with the tracking number hopefully it should go out tomorrow." 3 days later call them back again, not only no shipping number but nothing they can do about it now. 3 weeks no replacement... horrible.

Customer Reviews:
a great budget HD-TV.......2007-09-09
I got it in December 2006 and have been using it for several months. I love it. The picture quality is superb. comparing to other pricey models, this set offers the same functionality and even better picture quality. Contrast to other LCD tvs that look sluggish, I found it renders very smooth and continuous motions when watching football games. I also connect this monitor to my computer to view pictures and videos stored on my harddisk; the color is very stunning!
I often watch TV in my living room where bright daylight comes in from my big window, and the display is bright enough so that I barely notice the effect of sun light.
What I dislike: startup time is a bit long and source selection manual is also a one-way cycle and you will get angry when you miss the one and have to cycle it again!
