Amazon.com Product Description
If you're looking for vehicle navigation that's powerful and simple to use, the Garmin StreetPilot c340 is just the ticket. Right out of the box, this unit helps you make the right turns wherever your travels take you. With an easy-to-use touchscreen interface, text-to-speech voice commands, a brilliant display that shows the way with 2D or 3D animations, and a massive points of interest database, the c340 has all the basics covered. Plus, you'll find some great additional features that make it a must-have companion.
Look Mom, no buttons! Garmin has taken simplicity to a new level with the c340. |
The c340 is designed with simplicity in mind, although Garmin hasn't forgotten to add a touch of class. With a weight of under ten ounces and a width of 4.4 inches, the c340 is ultracompact and easy to transport. To keep confusion on the road to a minimum, the only buttons are a rotary volume knob and an on/off switch. The bright 3.5-inch-diagonal display features a touchscreen, making it a snap to input routing information and make quick selections on the road. The c340 sports dual integrated speakers for high-quality voice prompts, a USB port for PC connectivity, and an internal lithium-ion battery that provides power when you're planning your routes outside the car (approximately 4-8 hours battery life). In addition to an included 12-volt power adapter for in-car power, there's also an SD memory card expansion slot for use with other Garmin MapSource mapping products. The unit is secured by a suction-mount cradle that fastens to the windshield, allowing for easy portability between vehicles. You can even customize the c340's appearance with optional colored faceplates that suit your style. While the c340 has an internal GPS antenna, it also has an MCX-type connector for hooking up an optional external GPS antenna.
Finding your way with the c340 starts with inputting a location on the touch screen. Next, the unit's text-to-speech feature speaks to you just like a back seat driver, telling you the names of streets and when to turn and in what direction. And if you happen to miss a turn--don't worry, the c340 automatically calculates a new route to your destination. Audible and visual navigation instructions and warnings help you navigate more quickly while keeping your eyes on the road. You can also choose between a 3D mapping perspective or 2D overhead view.
The c340 offers clear, easy-to-read 3D directions. |
Another time- and frustration-saving feature of the c340 is the database of preloaded maps and points of interest. Gone are the days of uploading partial maps from your computer to your GPS device: the c340 has them all built in. The unit comes preloaded with Garmin's highly detailed City Select NT street data of the entire United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Finding points of interest along your route is made easy with the c340's huge built-in database of nearly six million hotels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, and attractions. Garmin has also made it easy for users to upload custom points of interest--now you can add school zones or safety cameras to your database. You can even turn on a proximity alert to notify you of upcoming custom points of interest.
Garmin really kicks the power of the c340 up a notch with the addition of real-time traffic information. This optional service will display congested areas on a color-coded map, allowing you to avoid traffic by simply pushing a button that calculates a new route. All this wizardry is made possible by the new Garmin GTM 10 receiver that connects to the c340 and other select Garmin products. Note that while the GTM 10 receives digital data from specific FM broadcast stations in select major metro areas throughout the United States and Europe, note that these traffic services are available only in select cities where coverage exists. The service requires the GTM 10 FM TMC traffic receiver and, in some cases, a subscription to enable these traffic capabilities.

Customer Reviews:
Useful but stubborn!.......2007-12-26
The Garmin c340 came in very handy on our recent trip from Virginia to Miami... the voice commands were easy to follow, the display very clear, and the timing of turn on cue. We did not like the fact that it does not have an option to avoid toll roads (it kept directing us to the FL Turnpike even though I-95 was parallel to it!). We liked the choices of voices - my kids loved Austrailian Karen. On the whole, it is a great value, easy to use, and useful for road travel. We recommend it!
very good.......2007-12-26
Just gave this as a Christmas and my mom hasn't had much time to use it but so far it has been very useful. It does come ready to use straight out of the box and is very user friendly. She isn't very tech savvy and was able to use it right away. It gave the wrong directions one time but it was clear that the directions were messed up so re entered the address and it worked better.
Daughter loves the Garmin.......2007-12-26
We bought it for our daughter and her safety on the road. She enjoys it very much and uses it every trip she takes.Garmin StreetPilot c340 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator
Bad Receiption.......2007-12-26
The C340 is very wide so it is not handy when traveling on planes, you would have to bring a seperate case for it. Also we could not get receiption in our house so we can only enter a trip outside. Other models of Garmin and other brands have worked in our house but not this one. We do not live in a rural area so there is no reason it should not work.
What a great deal I got on this! Chanukah gift for my brother!.......2007-12-26
This was a perfect Chanukah gift for my brother!
I used it, when I was home visiting. Excellent price and value & very dependable!

Now I see the light........2007-12-21
I suspected my monitors were not showing me a true representation and noticed my photo prints were often very different from my monitor image.
That is not a problem any more.
The software is painless and easy to figure out. It worked great with XP pro and Vista.
READ IF YOU OWN A VIEWSONIC!!!.......2007-12-19
THE USE OF THIS PRODUCT ACCORDING TO VIEWSONIC CUSTOMER SERVICE VOIDS YOUR WARRANTY. I USED THIS PRODUCT, AND CLEANED THE SUCTION CUP MARKS OFF THE SCREEN WITH THE SUPPLIED CLEANER, AND THE ANTI GLARE/STATIC STARTED COMING OFF. Upon contacting customer service, they informed me that any use of any cleaning material on their monitors is not covered under warranty and is considered abuse. They do not recommend using ANY color calibration device on the monitor as it may cause damage, and is not covered under warranty. However they can not tell you how to color calibrate it with out devices, or clean it without touching your monitor. So if you own a viewsoncic DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT!!!
Pantone Huey Pro .......2007-12-18
I purchased this product and was able to install and use it without support or even the help, I am very happy with the results. I tried the Spider unit about 2 years ago and ended up returning it because it was to technical to setup. This was much easier and the results are very good. Photography is a hobby and getting the color right is important, I use Adobe Photoshop and when I adjust an image I want those colors to be the same as when I print. I have a Canon Pixma 9000 printer which is a Great printer, a little large in size but what color and it can print up to 13x19.
great product.......2007-12-13
The Pantone huey Pro is a very easy to use monitor calibration tool. It even monitors the ambient light in the room and adjusts the brightness to compensate. I would highly recommend it.
Hits the right colors and intensity for me.......2007-12-13
Easy to use and sets the CRT gamut right for my Sony HMD-A400. A pleasant surprise.

Customer Reviews:
The more I use it, the more I like it..........2007-12-22
First impressions of the 604 wifi were mixed. The construction is very sturdy but also rigid, I don't think it would survive any sort of drop onto a hard surface. Those looking for any kind of "keep in your pocket" mp3 player will be dissapointed, its heft and dimensions are too much for anything besides maybe a large jacket pocket.
Works great for playing mp3s and navigating through your music is very easy although a search function would have been nice.
Many reviews talk about the max sound being low and this is definitely true but it is mostly due to the cheap "disposable" ear buds that come with the product, a good pair of in ear monitors completely solve this problem.
The touch screen is nice and responsive.
I wasn't crazy about the internet browsing at fist(a major disappointment because it was a big reason I purchased it) but after learning the functions of the buttons on the right and figuring out how to adjust the zoom it becomes a much better experience. The wifi is slow to connect, doesn't grab anything but a strong signal and is overall pretty slow.
The screen is nice but the outermost layer(the touch surface) adds a adds a annoying "matte" like appearance to it, taking a lot away from what I think would otherwise be a very crisp picture.
At the price it is now (around 200) it really can't be beat, you could spring for the largest capacity ipod touch for double the price and almost 1/2 the storage and get a sleeker and probably better design, but for me at least, it wasn't worth the price considering dealing with itunes and a meager 16gig of storage.
Overall I am happy with the Archos, it does just about everything, just not perfectly.
Very Poor Quality Of USB Hardware Connection.......2007-12-22
The first time we opened it up, we were so frustrated it could not be recognized by any laptops with Windows XP.
1. Our laptops are good ones, which can run other USB2.0 devices with NO problems
2. Called technical support, he immediately told me it is a hardware problem and advised us to return to Amazon
3. We purchased this 604 WiFi from Amazon with condition "New"
4. We are surprised that this one seemed NOT being tested when leaving factory
5. Visiting Archos website, it has a place for RMA. This is good for consumers, but also implies that the quality problems are a LOT
6. An observation of the USB connector inside 604 Wi Fi, it is a very thin connector with a lot of pins with very fine pitch. As I am a cell phone hardware designer, I can see this might be a big problem (easil broken) in the long run
7 I am returning this product right away
Like most said "Great, but not perfect".......2007-12-17
It was a completely impulse buy on my part. I jumped on it when I saw the price of this thing, $199? I paid $250 for a 7 inch portable dvd player not long ago!
It took me about 30 minutes to figure out how to use all the buttons, and the addition of the touch screen makes it so much easier to navigate the different functions. I simply dragged and dropped all my video and mp3 files from my desktop to the video and music folders and it played back everything without a hiccup. I did have to purchase the cinema plugin from the Archos online store because some of my avi files could not play because of the AAC audio.
The sound of the mp3 seems flat comparing to my Creative Zen Micro using the same headphone (Sennheiser CX300). It also difficult to use the 604 as a mp3 player, it's bulky and heavy, you have to take it out of the case and your pocket to change any settings. I used the TV/LCD button to lock the unit once, and it really did, I have to remove the battery to reset the screen.
The battery life is also questionable. On a fully charged unit, the battery gauge is down one bar after 10 minutes (not even watching video), 30 minutes later it's down to half. While I did not make a complete test of the battery life, I did manage to finish watching a 2 and a half hour movie with still one bar left.
Also not thrill about the wifi capability since so far I could only connect to my own home network. I live in Manhattan and the unit could not find a free network to connect outside my home, in midtown NYC?
I hate to charge it with the usb cable because it's simply time consuming. I'm also buying the docking adapter so I don't have to find a pc to charge it when the battery ran out.
AFter all I'm happy with this purchase and would recommend it as an alternative to anyone who wants to buy the Apple iTouch, not just because I despice anything Apple or Mac, because I beleive it is a superior product in most aspects.
After thought - I just saw the price of the 605 30gb went down to $229 on Amazon, don't know if I should be getting that instead. I know the 605 has a higher res screen (800x480 vs 480x272)and was really impressed after playing with one at a local Sharper Image, but did not get a chance to compare the 2 screens head-to head. Also the 605 did not come with a browser ($30 extra, but supports Flash) and come with a non-removable battery.
Lack of flash support.......2007-12-17
This product is horrible. While the wifi does work well, it doesn't support flash ... which means it is almost useless to view any video or audio format on the web (think, for example, no youtube). While the sound quality is much better than the ipod, the unit freezes up at the slightest movement. In addition, the idea that you have to pay $40 to for software updates to use most audio and video formats is just poor business. Finally, unlike the ipod, the Archos has no software to organize your music files on a pc. Rather, you have to spend hours doing it with the windows explorer...and forget about the automatic updates for podcasts. Seriously, this was a complete waste of money. For the same money, by an ipod and enjoy.
not happy.......2007-12-13
First thing I like to mention is who pay who off. The review stated that u get 15 plus hrs of audio play. Not.... I am luck to get 8 hrs. Battery life is really sorry. I have not try placing any video on yet... I am totally disappointed in the system. Trying to sync music is adventure in itself. The system occasion freeze up for no apparent reason. It sounds good; the build in speaker system is very good. I don't feel that I will every buys an Archo product again

Customer Reviews:
headset.......2007-12-16
i find that the headset is good to have for online play, but you have to be careful with it because it it is really, really delicate. if you can find a stronger headset that would work better, but this headset is light and very affective.
Unreliable....don't waste your money.......2007-11-26
This headset is unreliable. After only owning it for approximately 7 weeks, the audio became garbled and would fade in and out. I was going to replace it with another, but different persons told me NOT to buy another one. They said a better headset is made by Planetronics. Even if you think the wireless headset by Microsoft will work better (but costs triple), the complaints with that have been: batteries need constant recharging and the audio also fades in and out. AARRGH! If you are determined to buy one by Microsoft anyway, save your receipt just in case. And if they offer an extended warranty, you may consider that as a backup option!!!
good and new.......2007-11-05
the item was in plastic wrap good, but took about one week for me to obtain.Even tho i pay $7 for shipping it should have been $3 for regular shipping
Worth the money for online FPS's........2007-09-25
It's pretty comfortable, pretty high quality, and is decently loud. Fine for communicating in games that require it. If the game doesn't use it much, though, you don't need it at all.
Cheap but decent.......2007-09-13
This headset is just all right, it's basically a no frills style that just gives you the basics and that is it. The sound quality from the ear piece isn't all that great and the mice does like to pick up other sounds some times as it's not really a directional microphone. I would have liked a little more for the 20 bucks but hey Microsoft is a little cheap when it comes to comforts. They want you to spend the buck for the extras.

Customer Reviews:
Almost great TV mount.......2007-12-26
First, let me start by saying I am blown away by how quickly Amazon filled this order. I placed the order on a Sunday, taking advantage of the standard (free) shipping, and was quite surprised when I received the order the following Wednesday.
The TV mount worked exactly as described, and came with an assortment of screws and other mounting hardware to do the trick. No extra trips to the hardware store - almost. Much to my chagrin, I discovered that when trying to hang my LG flat panel on the wall, this mount didn't extend out enough to allow the AC power cord to plug into the outlet I had located behind the TV. The TV plug projected from the wall about an 1 1/2", requiring me to go to the Depot to purchase a recessed wall outlet, like the ones used for hanging clocks.
My only other comment is that the set screws used to secure the TV to the mount are accessed using a very long allen wrench, and in order to turn them, you must crouch down below the hanging TV and carefully turn the wrench. This isn't terrible, but when the mount is flush against the wall, like this one is designed to fit, you are only able to get 3/4 of a turn of the wrench before you must take it out, and carefully reposition it in the allen screw. The whole process of securing the TV took about 5 minutes.
Have to say, all in all - this mount cost about half what a comparable mount at Best Buy would have cost - and does the trick nicely.
Excellent Wall Mount for the Money.......2007-12-18
I'm using this wall mount with a 37" Olevia LCD TV. It was very easy to install, and the TV is easy to mount and dismount (when needed). Just make sure you screw into wall studs, and not just drywall.
Great stand for the price.......2007-12-11
Seems very well built, and it comes with a ton of extra screws. The only problem is that I can't reach the "safety" screws on the bottom. I am not really concerned because even without those screws it would be just about impossible to knock the TV off the wall. It's working great with our Sharp Aquos 46" LCD.
There is an application guide on Peerless's website if you want to make sure it will fit your TV.
Good value for the money.......2007-11-30
I bought this wall mount for a 32" Vizio. I had to make some modification with the hardware, which wasn't a big deal, and then it went up in about 30 minutes. I took back the Vizio and bought a Toshiba from Amazon, and it went up even more easily. The installation seems very stable.
Delivery was fast and the price was great.
Awsum.......2007-11-30
Very impressed. First time using Amazon. Ordered this on Sunday Night, on my door step Wednesday. Cheaper to wait a few days then go an buy at walk in store. Great wall mount.......

Amazon.com Product Description

High-quality virtual surround sound can be experienced with just the speakers built into the TV. SRS TruSurround XT technology delivers an amazing, simulated 3D effect with clear dialog and powerful bass through hidden side speakers. TruSurround XT audio adds three audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience.
- Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into Focus during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper.
- TruBass creates incredible deep rich bass allowing a person to perceive significantly deeper, richer low bass tones that are far beyond the physical low frequency capabilities of the speaker itself.
- The SRS WOW feature widens the soundstage by processing standard two-channel stereo material as well as multi-channel encoded material for a dramatic improvement in the playback of any stereo audio over a two-speaker system.

Great in every way but one..........2007-12-23
I'm not much of a reviewer, nor am I really able to compare anything with other HDTVs because I don't own any other ones. But I did come from a Sharp LC19DV12U, which was very standard and not that good. That said, out of the box, this TV looks amazing! The black finish on it, even the blue light on the bottom when you turn it on... this is a fabulous looking TV. I spent hours looking on the AVS forums for the best possible basic calibration out there, and I think I found it for all of my sources (analog, OTA, component, PC, etc). Speaking of OTA, I love how I pick up 6 HD channels plus radio stations with the built-in tuner! The picture is flat out amazing!
However, if I were to give a negative, it would be gaming lag. Now, I've done a LOT of research to be sure that this TV wouldn't lag, but it does. I heard that anything with an 8ms refresh rate or lower shouldn't give any noticeable lag, which this TV is. In fact, my Sharp lagged too, and that was 6ms. I have Game Mode on, I have... well, I have everything on that people tell me to eliminate lag with. I'm sure that I'M doing something wrong, because nobody else seems to have this problem. But I've had this problem for two TV's now, and I don't know what to do. If anyone would please leave me comments on what to do, that would be fantastic.
That aside, this TV was perfect for $550!
Disappointing overall.......2007-12-17
Bought this TV for the bedroom, upgrading from a 20" CRT.
The set itself looks great, even though I'm not a big fan of the piano black gloss. Easy setup, light, functional. Attracts dust like Pig Pen. Annoying blue light and on/off sound easy to disable in the setup menu.
Picture looks absolutely great from straight-ahead, but the viewing angles are somewhat poor. It's noticeably less bright when viewed off-angle horizontally (I'd say past 35-40 degrees either way). And when viewed from below (i.e, sitting on the floor watching the TV) the colors/image are completely washed to the point of not being able to see anything. Very poor vertical viewing angle. Keep that in mind if you are mounting this set or otherwise watching from below.
Buttons on the right front side of the set (power, channel, volume, input) are hard to decipher and strangely placed. Very easy to accidentally press them if you grab the TV to move or swivel it (not that it has a swivel - why do almost no TVs under 32" have a built in swivel stand? Not everyone mounts TVs.)
Maybe it's my set, but I'm disappointed overall. I have a 40" Sony Bravia in the living room and I guess I am spoiled by that TV, but I was expecting more from the Samsung. Viewing angle turned out to be much more of a factor for me than I thought. I really wanted a 23" set, it was the perfect size for my room, but there's not much else in that size range. I'm returning it for a 26" Sony KDL-26M3000, which gets good marks for viewing angle (saw it at a local BB and picture was sharp from all angles). The Sony is more expensive, but I seem to be getting a good deal on it so it's really not that much more than the Samsung was.
Picture ok-controls are weird.......2007-12-14
I have no complaints about the picture since I'm not a big tv watcher. I had to return the 1st set to Amazon because the manual controls on the front of the TV didn't work. Samsung wanted me to pay the shipping cost and return the TV to them. When I balked, they said to send it back to Amazon. Amazon was amazing - they sent me a replacement before the first set was even picked up, and they paid for shipping.
The second set is better, but the on/off control only works some of the time. It is so frustrating to have to find the remote control to turn it on when you're sitting 3 feet away. Anyone else have this problem?
I don't like the fact that you can't see the manual controls - they're not buttons, just raised icons that are the molded into the screen frame. I'm trying to "read" them with my finger tips. The other problem is the display on the screen which I use when the room is dark. The text is very small and at 3:00 a.m., I don't want to turn on the light or get my glasses, as I might actually wake up.
Fantastic.......2007-12-13
I could not be happier. I also have a 40" Samsung and they are superb! I would recommend this tv to everyone.
compatability issue.......2007-12-12
Slick little LCD TV. However, if you're thinking of using it via VGA connection with a recent Sony Vaio laptop, beware that it does not work. Samsung says there's a Sony firmware update fix and links to Sony, but the link just provides updates, and Sony says there is no update to solve this problem. If anyone know how to resolve this problem, please add a comment. Samsung has not responded to my email request for assistance.

Outstanding quality, highly recommended.......2007-12-24
After much research I settled on this as a replacement for an earlier Samsung 19" HDTV-ready LCD TV (for which I paid double the price of this 23" set back in the day). I'm totally blown away. Setup was a snap, from opening the box to watching TV took 5-10 minutes. Picture quality with my analog cablebox signal was fine, obviously not DTV quality but being an analog signal that was to be expected. But local HDTV using the native tuner was unbelievably good: sharp, detailed and with very little blurring in action shots, even at close range viewing. Using a good powered external HD antenna is a huge help in avoiding urban signal blips (buy a Terk model from Amazon!).
I was happy with the sound quality as well, adequate for me in a small space---the Dolby SRS is a big plus. The only minus is that Motorola cableboxes don't seem to work with Samsung remotes, but I'm used to using the cable remote anyway. In short, this is a marvelous HDTV with outstanding Samsung quality and value. I would recommend this model to anyone looking for this size LCD TV.

Great tv have the samsung 46" also. Great picture quality and features. Do not have hdtv box hooked up to 23" just digital signal, which we are using in the bedroom , but are receiving local channels in high def because of tuner. The 46" is hooked up to hd box and is awesome. Would reccommend this product.
Amazing HDTV!.......2007-12-19
This is truly an outstanding TV. It's probably the best 23" LCD TV on the market. A friend of mine has the "better" Samsung LN-T2353H TV and I think the picture looks just as good on mine. I bet they have the same display panel, just different cases and little features. Besides, this TV is cooler looking than the 53 series anyway, especially with the speakers on the side and no weird bulge underneath. It is an easy TV to get set up: just get it on the stand; plug in your devices; plug it in; and go! One thing that I've seen some people complain about is the quality of Standard Definition (480i) images. The issue here is that the contrast is simply set too high. The default setting is 100 (all the way up). Lower the contrast a bit and adjust the brightness to your liking for SDTV viewing and you'll be just fine. It even remembers different settings for different inputs, you can have have the contrast way up high for your DVDs and lower for your SDTV and the TV will retain your settings (which is very nice; my old TV did not do this). The built in speakers are nice, but are no match for a true Component Home Theater system. They're great with HDMI though, because of the excellent quality of digital audio. The TV has a melody feature which plays a little beeping sound when you turn it on. This is definitely going to be a love it or hate it type of thing, but the good news is that you can turn it off. The TV also has no lights that display while viewing it. There is a stand by light, but this only goes on when the TV is off. To sum it up - this is a spectacular TV with great features and that is easy to use with great manuals and directions. Do yourself a favor, buy it. I've done the research, and it's the best TV you're going to find in the 20-26" HDTV, 450-650 Dollar Range. You'll love it - my whole family does.

Very Happy With Purchase.......2007-12-26
I work for an insurance agency and needed the option to scan documents. This unit is perfect for our needs. It's easy to set up and easy to scan. I haven't tried using it for photos yet. I trust Canon products and am not disappointed by this scanner.
WorksformyMac.......2007-12-26
After reading the reviews, I was concerned about how well this scanner would work with my Mac G5 running OS10.4. Since everything else was what I was looking for I decided to buy and hope for the best. The installation was easy and quick. The graphics were large, colorful and easy to understand and watch while the installer did all of the work. The scanner works flawlessly, even the buttons. I have had a smile while trying the various functions. And by the way, the picture quality is excellent.
great buy.......2007-12-12
Bought this to use for my small design business. I work from home so the small size was great for me. Easy to understand and works well with my Mac.
LiDE 600F makes portable scanning easy.......2007-12-10
I purchased the LiDE 600F specifically to travel with me for use with my laptop. Both fit - tightly - in my large laptop bag, meaning the scanner doesn't increase the amount of luggage I must carry. I'm a genealogist, and my primary use is to scan photos, negatives, and documents when doing research.
The 600F scans images and 35 mm negatives very well. I use the OS X operating system on my laptop and had no difficulty setting up or using either the software or hardware. The lack of a separate power supply and cord for the scanner is appreciated. Cords and power supplies are a pain to pack and unravel.
The warnings on in the enclosed operating manual make the scanner sound fragile, but it's held up well to date. My only complaint is that there is no included option to scan negatives for types of film other than 35 mm. My family was apparently big into the old 110 stuff, and I have a professionally done negative that is as large as the resulting photo. I'm going to have to search for/create a method of scanning these. However, this scanner has met and exceeded my expectations for the price.

Good scanner for the price... great features. Just what I needed for the home office.
