A great piece of furniture.......2007-09-20
I was very wary about ordering furniture over the internet. You really cannot get an idea of the quality of the finish from just a couple of pics. I had bought some furniture several years ago from Sears that you had to put together, and it did not look like wood. It looked like wood covered with contact paper.
.............Not so with this entertainment center. It is a great piece of furniture. The wood veneers are very nice, and it arrived in perfect condition. I had to do a lot less assembling than I was prepared for. The front and both sides of the unit are already joined. You just put in the shelf, two bars of wood across the back, slide the back on, and put on the top. It is fairly simple to put together, but this is a very heavy piece- so it definitely takes more than one person. The fit and finish were great - doors and hardware were all aligned nicely.
IRL the unit is a little less of a brown than the pic, and leans more towards a reddish mahogany, or rosewood coloring. I wanted this unit because I had bought a 40" flatscreen TV, and could not find a compact unit that was wide enough for the TV. This one is perfect. The description say that it is 41" inside, but that is the measurement inside the "frame" that the doors are hinged to. The inside of the unit is actually 43", so if you slide your flatscreen in on a diagonal, you can fit a TV between 41" and 43".
I ordered this unit online on Sept. 9th, and was contacted for delivery on the 17th. Quicker than the website states. Do be prepared though, the delivery is only to your door, or garage - the delivery person will not bring this unit inside for you. It is too bulky and heavy for one person to handle, so make sure you have help to get the big box in.
