I thought this item was a light but strong metal from the picture. It is actually painted compressed wood and is assembled like you would "Sauder" furniture, just without the align key. You only need a phillips screw driver and it's pretty simple to install. Looks great bears the weight of a plasma that's over 70lbs very well. IDEAL FOR PLACING THE TV IN A CORNER.

It was easy to put together and the instructions were very good. It looks very nice. I have a 32" set on top of it, an HD receiver on one shelf, and a dvd player on the other. Some may object to the bottom shelf being close to the floor but it's not a problem for us. Nice touch on the push release doors.

For 50 bucks you can't beat it...easy to put together, and is quite sturdy. The glass doors are a nice touch. It holds my PS3 and 32inch lcd with ease. Although there are cheap parts, it's what you would expect from a tv stand in this price category. It is also one of nicer TV stands I've seen and won't cost you 500 big ones.

I have to preface this by stating that I am a confirmed bachelor and this unit recently replaced by prior TV stand which coincidentally happened to look exactly like the cardboard packaging from a microwave I purchased 10 years ago. So there really was nowhere to go but up, especially with my growing collection of electronics.
Putting it together was almost too easy. All of the parts are packaged and labeled in such a way that there is no doubt what the detailed instructions are referring to at any stage of assembly. There are a couple of opportunities to connect pieces upside down and the manual can be slightly ambiguous at times, but the parts are even keyed so it will only assemble the proper way, so you don't have to wait until the whole thing is assembled before you realize a piece is attached incorrectly. The whole thing is nothing short of genius. Even with my mistakes, assembly took less than 20 minutes.
All that said, the size of the storage space leaves a bit to be desired. The middle shelf is slightly adjustable which is great. I'm able to easily fit my Scientic American HD Cable Box/DVR inside it as well as the receiver from my Sony Home Theatre-In-A-Box (HTIB). Both units sit on different shelves and consume about half the width of the unit.But this means that the 5 disc DVD player that came with the receiver does not fit anywhere inside the unit and even if it did fit height and width, the depth of the unit is just short of being enough, so the DVD player ended up sitting outside the unit along with my Xbox 360 (which would fit into the unit except for my fear of not enough ventilation).
The alternative for the DVD would either be to not use the glass doors, which in my opinion takes too much away from the design and elegance of the unit or to cut out even more space out of the thin back panel.
All in all it's a great investment for someone with few or small electronics (I compensated having to leave some electronics outside by placing my cable modem and wireless router inside) and probably amazing for a dorm room, but may not be worth it for anyone who considers home theater even a hobby.

Very easy to put together. I was somewhat skeptical when directions said no tools required, but this could not have been easier. Looks very nice and matches my TV perfectly.

Sturdy and stylish.......2007-11-28
This stand is very sturdy and looks great. It holds all of our entertainment equipment and saves us space. It was easy to put together. The only downside is that it does not swivel so we simply placed our LCD TV and its swivel stand on the top glass.
