Garmin Quality = Highly Recommended.......2007-12-27
A great no frills portable GPS! Garmin's base model combines inovation and simplicity.
It's like having a phone book and a map of the United States right at your fingertips!
With a price of $170, it's hard to beat. If I was going to buy another one I would shell out the extra $50 for the 4.3" screen, it's a lot easier to see.
If you're looking for a simple navigation system that anyone (even grandma and grandpa) can use.....trust Garmin!
Excellent, for the price!.......2007-12-27
A great GPS for the price. Bought two of these for less than other models. Does the job and can clearly hear the directions. The visual is as clear and easy to use, right out of the box.
More than shortest route required.......2007-12-26
I have one thing to add to the other reviews on the Garmin 200. Despite generally competent performance it tends to be VERY STUPID in picking certain routes. Apparently it goes for the shortest route without giving any weight or consideration to the nature of the roads themselves. Thus, going from Blacksburg, VA, to Roanoke, VA, it selects a narrow torturous
state road, which one drives at one's peril, especially at night, instead
of the fast, safe and efficient US 460 - Interstate 81 route which any informed person would take. I have been reluctant to put it on my wife's
vehicle for this reason.

Buyer beware!.......2007-12-25
I just received this product today. I ordered it in new condition but I believe it was used. The product came from the amazon returns center and when I opened the box, none of the pieces were wrapped in plastic. The main unit itself is a little scratched. I will probably return this...buyer beware.
Love my Garmin.......2007-12-23
Living in a small town all my life, I have always been intimidated driving to bigger cities, like Dallas and Ft. Worth. My Garmin has given me the freedom to drive in confidence! I love the ease of use of this GPS. My husband was so impressed with this machine, he bought one for his car!

nüvi 200W accepts custom points of interest (POIs). View larger. |
The
nüvi
200W comes preloaded with maps for U.S., Hawaii, and Puerto Rico, and features an ultra-slim design. |
The widescreen version of Garmin's nüvi 200 offers a large, easy-to-read screen (4.3 inches diagonally to the nüvi 200s 3.5 inches) at an attractive price point. Like its smaller sibling, the 200W comes with preloaded maps for the continental U.S., Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. If you want maps for all of North America, check out the nüvi 250W. If you want maps for Europe, you'll need to go with the smaller nüvi 270, or you can purchase a set of European maps on SD Card or CD-Rom. While it doesn't have some of the more sophisticated features of higher-end nüvis, it does, like all nüvi 200-series members, offer a rock-solid navigation experience with an easy-to-use colorful touchscreen, 6 million points of interest (POI)s, and an ultra-slim design.
See More of What's Around
The widescreen format gives you 70% more actual screen area than a 3.5-inch screen. Primarily this translates into a better view of the area through which you are driving. This is especially useful in showing you what parks, restaurants, ATM, gas stations, etc. are nearby, or in letting you know whether a detour is a good idea. Also, the device itself is larger, meaning controls on the screen are more widely spaced and somewhat easier to push.
Smart, Powerful Design
The nüvi 200W is built with a high-sensitivity WAAS-enabled GPS receiver for extreme accuracy, as well as an SD card slot for storing your media and additional navigation tools, and a USB interface for loading data. All this is wrapped up in a package that measures 4.8 x 2.9 x 0.8 inches (W x H x D) and weighs just 6.6 ounces. The nüvi 200's 4.3-inch (diagonal) display is touchscreen-enabled, making it a cinch to control the device with your fingertips. A rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides up to five hours of battery life depending on use.

In addition, nüvi 200W accepts custom points of interest (POIs), such as school zones and safety cameras and lets you set proximity alerts to warn you of upcoming POIs.
Garmin's interface is a key to their success and one of the things that makes their devices such a pleasure to use. Simple controls and sub-screens make it easy to enter or search for destinations and get data about your trip.
Beyond Navigation
Navigation is just the beginning. nüvi 200W features travel tools including JPEG picture viewer, world travel clock with time zones, currency converter, measurement converter, calculator and more. Show me the way to go home..........2007-12-27
My wife and I both used to have Tom Toms and we were very happy with them.
When we purchased new vehicles it was time to trade up. Her new vehicle came with a navigation system and mine didn't.
This unit was inexpensive and compact. It is easy to put it in the glove box or your shirt pocket.
If you want bluetooth or other whistles this unit doesn't have them. If you want to know the way to home or other places this one does the job.
:)
great gps.......2007-12-27
I received the Nuvi 200w as a christmas present. It is exactly like everyone is saying. Its a little slow sometimes on getting connectivity, but it's just a few seconds. If you are like me and don't know a mile from an inch, you will still like the turn list feature that you can change the screen to and also have the map. If you mount it correctly, you can view the top bar which tells you the name of the street you will be turning on or the exit off the highway. I've been married for 20 years and this is by far the best gift he's ever given me!
Garmin Nuvi 200W!!! Best GPS for the price!!!!.......2007-12-26
I recently purchased the Garmin Nuvi 200 widescreen, and have grown to love it more and more everyday. I had the option to spend more to get extra features, but overall I need a GPS for directions. The Nuvi 200W also includes "Points of Intersts" to help find Food/Gass/Hotels should you need, which makes life alot easier when traveling to new destinations. The widescren makes a great view to read while still paying attention to the road ahead of you, as well as having the touch screen to make your choices. I highly recommend this model to anyone out there looking for a simple, and easy to use touch screen navigation system!!!
Gift for father.......2007-12-26
This was a gift for my 66 yr old dad. As he is a volunteer for a program here in our state which at times requires him too travel to different towns and locations. This has made his traveling to these locations less frustrating and more enjoyable and so far the learning curve as been so easy and fast for him. He is not very computer literate. So this bit of technology was a bit intimidating at first but within 2 days he had it down pact. Ease of use is absolutely great, very accurate. Looking to pick one up for my self.
Just what you need.......2007-12-26
After renting cars with Garmin Nuvi's, I knew I liked the Nuvi line. The big question was, which features did I need and want. Well, the 200W is exactly what I needed. The wide-screen is a big benefit over the smaller screen 200 and 350 models. I thought I wanted the "text-to-speech" feature, which announces actual street names, but it turns out that I don't really miss that. I thought long and hard about getting the Nuvi 350, but there are many features in the 350 that I'd just never use (like Bluetooth, for example), and I think the wide screen is a "must."
This is simple to use, and just has the basic features that I really needed.

Faster flash photos than Nikon D40X.......2007-12-27
If you are looking for a camera to take a lot of indoor photos with flash (of your young children like we do), the Canon is much faster with flash photos than the Nikon. My mother-in-law has the older, 7 megapixel Canon, which takes awesome photos. We went to the store to get the newer Canon, but ended up taking home the Nikon since we were told the menus were easier, the glass of the standard lenses was better, and it came with more free stuff. We compared it to mother-in-law's camera over the holiday, and the Canon was much faster. We have since exchange our Nikon for the Canon XTI, and see a huge difference in the speed you can take flash photos. Luckily, we did this in time for the photos of Santa's gifts on Christmas morning. :)
Excellent camera, especially for the price.......2007-12-27
The Rebel XTi is Canon's prosumer/semi-pro DSLR, but it takes absolutely fantastic photos. Your investment in lenses is protected because you can mount any of the EF or EF-S series lenses on the XTi. If you decide to upgrade to another Canon model then your lens collection can go with you.
The Rebel is very pleasant to hold (I have large hands); it feels sturdy and well built. It weighs very little; hand-holding is very easy and comfortable.
Boasting a plethora of configuration options including a mirror-up mode for macro shots, the Rebel produces extremely noise-free images all the way through ISO400. ISO800 is entirely usable, but exhibits some noise. Image quality is excellent; the large resolution means that you can crop your photos and still get 8x10 prints.
Like all DSLRs, the XTi allows you to work directly with RAW files. If you prefer, you can shoot in JPEG+RAW or just JPEG. RAW files are about 10MB, so make sure to get a large memory card. I can fit about 760 RAW shots on an 8GB card. The camera makes intelligent decisions in its automatic or semi-automatic modes. That said, my best shots have all been in aperture priority or full automatic mode.
As a first foray into DSLR photography, this is an excellent buy. Don't get it just for megapixels or to say you have a DSLR. I used a Canon S3 IS for years with excellent results. By no means do you need a DSLR to get high-quality images or flexibility. Better image processing and interchangeable lenses are what set DSLRs apart from even prosumer point and shoots. Speaking of lenses, I don't recommend the kit lens; instead you might look into the 28-105mm lens or the 17-55mm IS lens - both from Canon.
Worth the price.......2007-12-26
This is my first DSLR camera. I bought this to learn photography. I would say that this camera is worth for the price. I would suggest to buy just the camera body and go for a better lens. This camera has decent enough features for a DSLR. This does not have the live preview option though.
Best DSLR Camera.......2007-12-23
I am more than 100% satisified with this camera. I knew about the features well before I purchased, so no regrets. I would refer and prefer this camera to all those SLR lovers.
Great value and still so versatile!.......2007-12-23
Canon has thought out this camera well and put a good
collection of useful features from its higher end DSLRs in this
model. Consequently, this camera has all the features that would keep
a budding photographer fulfilled for quite some time. In addition, the
great price allows you to spend more on good quality lenses, bounce
flash, and other accessories.
The useful features:
- Excellent picture taking: low noise sensor, ISO 1600 is quite usable. Fast
startup: camera is ready to shoot almost instantly at the press of
the shutter. Fast drive: 3 frames per second. With an Extreme III CF
card, one can shoot 27 shots before the camera becomes busy.
- Great user interface: One key access to white balance, ISO,
auto-focus modes, metering, drive, and AF points. These are all so nicely
laid out in the back of the camera. The grip is fine but could be a
bit more rounded. Light and compact.
- Ability to separate focus and exposure buttons with CF4 custom
function. This feature is poorly explained in the manual, but when
used with AI Servo AF, it makes the camera do less work and helps
you take great pictures. I also use custom white balance a lot. RGB
histogram, overblown pixel highlights, mirror lockup to prevent
camera shake are other useful functions.
The body is one quarter or even one-fifth of the picture taking
apparatus. The second quarter is a good lens (spend as much on a lens
as you will on the body), and half is your own dedication and skills
in photography. Invest in a bounce flash like speedlite 430ex or you
will be stuck taking pictures at home at ISO 1600. Buy some
photography books like Understanding Exposure.
Happy picture taking with this excellent body!

Good long lasting toy .......2007-12-25
My 2 and half year old daughter rediscovers this toy ever so often. I purchased it when she was couple of months old. It works wells , its durable and not intrusive or annoying to the parents.
Learning Toy.......2007-12-25
I gave this learning toy to my year old great niece for Christmas. She loves it.
Good toy.......2007-12-20
This is a fun toy for a little one. It sings the alphabet while showing the letters on the screen and makes all sorts of other sounds with corresponding images. While it generally holds my sons interest for short rides or supermarket trips, it does get old faster than some other toys. One slightly annoying feature is that if left alone for a bit, the phone will say bye bye, which is a bit bothersome if the little one has just fallen asleep holding it. Overall, he has enjoyed it and for a good price, i would recommend it, but my son definately prefers real phones to play with given the chance.
A Definite Buy.......2007-12-20
My son received this when he was five months old. He is seventeen months old and still enjoys the ringing of the phone. I would highly recommend this toy!
fantastic car toy.......2007-12-19
My 2 year old daughter still loves this toy. I got it at a garage sale when she was 16 months so I didn't know much about it. I keep it in the car and she plays with it almost every car ride. It's not too loud, it's easy for her to hold and its durable. She likes to throw it on the floor when she's done playing with it plus it has stood up to extreme temperatures in the car and the battery lasts forever. It's great on evening car trips as the screen lights up so she can see it. She plays with it more like a video game than a phone. I think the the toy has a decent educational value by using repitition to connect the sound of a letter or number to what it visually looks like in written form. She's a little young to know if it will help her learn her abc's but I think it will. The most important thing is that she finds it interesting.

Product Description
Those old photo frames atop your dresser, desk, night stand and on your walls are vignettes of memories captured as prints in the era of film cameras. The digital-camera makes available a technology where photos don't have to be displayed as prints. They're displayed on screen, much like that of a TV set or a computer monitor. This frame uses LCD flat-panel technology and, at 2-1/4" deep, fits almost anywhere a standard frame would. The difference - this frame is not limited to display only 1 or a few pictures. A digital picture frame can display dozens (if not hundreds) of images off a digital-memory card.
Here's a dandy way to display all those digital photos you're accumulating. Display one or all (in slideshow mode) directly from an SD, MMC, xD, or CompactFlash memory card. It's a great way to view your favorites on a table or on a wall - just like a regular picture frame. Yet COBY DP102 adds a unique feature. It has built-in speakers so you can play MP3 and WMA music files from your memory cards. You can even create photo slideshows with music. The DP102 has a USB port that lets you play photos stored on digital media drives. Its LED backlit screen delivers bright images for viewing in almost any situation.
This is a perfect frame to give to your parents and grandparents. Let them see pictures of you all the time from a memory card you provide them. It has a dual-volt AC adapter for international capability. Plays Most MP4 and AVI Video Files from Digital Cameras Photo Slideshow with or without Music AV Output for play through with Home Theater Systems SD - MMC - xD - CF Card Slots Full-Size USB Port for use with Flash Memory Drives USB Port for Fast File Transfers Integrated Stereo Speakers Interchangeable Faceplate (Black or White) to match your decor Detachable Stand Table use or Wall Mountable
Customer Reviews:
Bad Technical Support.......2007-12-26
COBY has the worst technical support ever. Thankfully the product interface is simple and if you try, and try and try again with file sizes, you do get to a reasonable end result, but if you try to call their technical support line, you will be very disappointed. They don't know their own product well enough to give clear guidelines on file sizes and resolution specs. Their only response is "It's not a digital TV, so don't expect much". Don't waste your time with a phone call to them, do your research on the web, even the info in this forum is more complete than at the COBY help line. I did buy and give 3 of these for Xmas, but I would never buy again from COBY and would tell others to avoid them too.
Excellent High Quality Easy to use !.......2007-12-26
This is a great product. it has a great viewing angle and woks well showing clear high quality images. I would buy it again in a heartbeat and the price of 115 was good. I shopped around a lot before purchasing.
Cannot Connect to Computer.......2007-12-26
As another person mentioned, my 5.6" Digital Frame cannot connect to my computer. It takes multiple tries for it to even read the frame (my computer USB ports are 2.0) and when I do finally get my "F:" drive up and going, it says I cannot copy anything to the drive--I'm taking it back for sure. I know it reads a memory card and I can upload pictures via USB Drive, but the frame itself cannot connect to use the internal memory, which is all I really wanted to do. Good frame, but this is the second (another person in my family was having problems with hers) picture frame that is having problems. Technology is bound to fail, but there shouldn't be this type of problem right off the bat.
Probably the best digital photo frame available as of dec, 2007.......2007-12-25
First let me say that I am reviewing the 8" frame model DP882. I notice that Amazon has a number of sizes of this frame lumped together. Not cool.
I wanted to get a photo frame for my mom and dad. They don't have a computer (and don't want one) and I wanted to get them something easy to use and something that looked really good. I didn't think I was going to buy one of these Cobys. I thought I would buy either a Phillips or Kodak. But after doing a little research on the specs of each, the Coby was the natural choice.
It has higher resolution than most other frames (800x600).
It has higher brightness than most other frames (350 cd/m2).
It has higher contrast ratio than most other frames (500:1).
It uses LED backlight technology (the latest and best at this time)
It accepts SD, MMC, MS, xD, and CF cards. (no SDHC certification)
It has both a full size USB port for flash keys and a mini USB port to hook it up to your computer.
It plays MP3s & WMA audio files (I have not tested yet) & has built in speakers and a headphone jack.
It also plays AVI and MP4 video files of the type generated by video cameras (At this time, I have only tried one small AVI file and it played it well)
It has a wireless remote control.
The one thing you need to know about this frame is that it doesn't have any internal memory. That may seem like a problem to you, but let me explain why it is not. It can play material directly from a card in any of the card slots. For example, 1 or 2 GB SD cards are cheap. Compare that with some of the other frames which cannot play directly from the cards and require you to copy material to the frame itself which usually have 256mb or less of memory. Who wants to do that? This way, you can just send your parents a cheap 1GB SD card preloaded with pics in the mail if you wanted to.
Operation is simple. Just turn it on, insert the preloaded card of your choice, select that card via the remote or keys on the side of the frame (you have to do that because you can have one of four different types of cards inserted at one time), then select slideshow and viola!
It will automatically scale down any large photos, which either have to be in JPG or BMP format. It does not automatically rotate them to fit the orientation of the frame, but you can do that manually with the remote control (though you can't save that preference in the frame). Your best course of action is to orient the photos ahead of time on your computer. The slideshow has about ten different transitions and you can set it to use one effect or randomly use all ten. You can change the duration of the of the photos from 5 seconds all way to 1 day. You can also have MP3 or WMA music play though the slideshow, though I have not tired this yet.
Through the frame itself (with no computer involvement) you can copy photos or files directly from one card to another or from a USB flash drive in any direction.
For example, you can copy photos/files
from USB Flash to SD card
from SD card to USB Flash
from SD card to CF card
etc.
I tired this function and it does work.
If I'm reading it correctly, the manual states that the frame itself will function as a card reader when connected to a computer. This makes sense to me based on the way the frame works. I have not tried this yet.
The frame has adjustable volume (for music and video) and easily adjustable brightness (via a wheel knob on the frame). I find it very easy to use.
I am VERY happy with the frame so far. The LCD looks fantastic, is very bright and has good contrast. I would recommend this frame to anyone.
If you have any questions feel free to leave comments as I will check back occasionally.
Worth The Price but not much more........2007-12-25
This item is worth the price it is sold at. As written, it is important that you try to keep to the 16:9 photo size. If you do that, the photos fill the screen and look pretty good. I had some problems with the slideshow feature. I use Photoshop and the slide show absolutely would not show photos that were saved in the Progressive mode. If the photos were saved in Baseline mode there was no problem. It took a couple of hours of using the process of elimination to figure that out. It is not mentioned in the documentation anywhere. Was not able to get anyone on their 1-800 help line. I was on hold for 1/2 hour until they finally hung up on me. Documentation is not wonderful. Also, if you buy this item, make sure you look on the back side of the Styrofoam packing. The black interchangeable frame is packed there. It is very easy to overlook this and throw it away with the packaging material.
Average customer rating:

Customer Reviews:
A great DSLR for the price.......2007-12-24
I purchased one of these about a month ago along with a 55-200mm second lens. I started my photography hobby "back in the day" of developing my own film, doing my own color and B&W prints, etc. and loved my old film-based Nikon and RIcoh cameras. But as my life got busier with family etc I let that hobby go. But with the advent of digital cameras with good quality and good apps for computer editing I got back into. At first with the lower end cameras like a Canon G2 and Powershot models. They were convenient but photo quality wasn't that good and they struggled with many tougher situations. Plus my hold SLR hobbiest self objected to the lack of creative control. With the newer DSLRs that are available around $600 I took another look and felt the features and quality were ready for purchase decision. After comparing with the XTi from Canon I selected the Nikon because I found it's features easier to use and comprehensive. And most important the quality of the images is superior to the Canon. Canon's consumer lenses just aren't very good (at least not compared to Nikon). While I see some people are dinging this camera for sports I've had good luck using it for action shots. Unless you are considering buying a lens above 300mm I don't think the lack of in-body AF is going to be much of a real concern. Now, on to the best feature. In my tests the Nikon absolutely smokes in the Canon in start up time. With the Nikon, you can take a picture IMMEDIATELY after turning the D40x on. This is a huge feature for me and one of the reasons I wanted a DSLR. Also, the multishot mode works very well in capturing action. I'm really happy with this camera for the price!
Terrific camera.......2007-12-24
I don't usually write reviews but this camera is terrific. Easy to use for a non-professional, great pictures, long battery life between charges, and no noticeable lag time between shots.
excellent.......2007-12-23
This is absolutely an excellent camera. It is fast and the flash recharges rapidly. The picture quality is excellent. The battery life is at least 400 pictures.
Great camera.......2007-12-22
The camera works great. There are a lot of functions that we still need to learn about, but for now the Auto function works fine.
Exciting Camera.......2007-12-21
I spent over 6 months looking at cameras and this is the best I found for the money.
