Just what I was hoping for.......2007-08-24
I'm impressed with this little thing. The case is well-made and has a very solid feel. The Nano fits perfectly into the skin and into the MiniBlaster. I didn't have difficulties with the fit like others mentioned. Getting the Nano out takes some pushing, but that's the way it should be. You don't want it falling out on it's own and hitting the pavement. All the Nano controls are accessible. The front, circular control (volume/scroll) works fine through a silicon skin and is very protected.
The reason we buy this thing is for sound and size. Size and weight are impressively minimal. You won't beat that anywhere. As for sound, it's not a home entertainment center or a Bose IPod system - it's a tiny little device that offers maximum portability. If you can bring your Bose system along with you, then do it. If you need something small and more portable, then read on.
The sound has a distinct clarity. Mids to highs are crisp and well separated. What you loose is bass. It's attenuated, but not dull or muddy. I wasn't expecting strong bass with a frequency response of 450Hz to 20KHz. It's not built for it and shouldn't be expected.
It's made, as others have said, for you and a couple of friends in an environment without too much ambient noise. If you are looking for a system that you can play at a beech party with a big group of friends, keep looking, because this isn't it. Too many voices chatting away will drown this little thing out.
In a reasonably quiet room or out on the trail, you get enough volume to really enjoy the music. It's loud enough to hear the detail in the sound. It even gets too loud for conversations and has to be turned down. Don't get me wrong, the neighbors won't be calling or stomping on the floor. It has what it needs to fill the niche that it's designed for.
I personally like the sound with the EQ set to "Small Speakers" - seems like a good balance for Classic Rock which I tend to listen to the most.
If you want a small, light and very portable speaker system to free you from headphones and make portable music a social experience between friends again, then you are onto something.
Enjoy!
Great for use while traveling.......2007-08-11
I wanted to be able to listen to podcasts and my own music while commuting and so first purchased (for $80) an FM converter that plugged into the lighter and my iPod and then matched an unused frequency to play what was on the iPod. The sound wasn't great and it changed depending on where I was driving. I spent a lot of time trying to find the right static frequency and match it with the device. In the short time that I tried it out I had to switch frequencies twice.
So, I looked for a speaker. I decided that it wouldn't be a disaster to buy something at this price to try even if it didn't work great. It was what I was looking for! I can use it in the car and also other places where I want to play what is on my ipod so that others can hear. It is not great sound quality, but it is much better than what I was getting with the FM converter and much easier. I can either use batteries or the AC adaptor (I already have a device that converts the cigarette lighter into AC power).
It is a great solution for what I was looking for.
Good Product.......2007-07-26
I recommend this product over similar products that are outrageously expensive. Powerful sound for it's size and easy to use. Great value.
Wow, under 15 bucks including shipping!.......2007-07-04
Don't expect too much bass out of -any- tiny speakers but as a way to turn your nano into a sort of 21st century "transistor radio" equivalent with stereo audio and a better sound quality, this little thing is superb. Talk radio podcasts are delivered very clearly and music can be enjoyed to an extent especially if you choose an appropriate EQ setting on your nano. Volume capability is decent, just don't expect to entertain an audience bigger than about two or three. Battery life is good for the 4x AAA batteries.
JLab Audio.......2007-06-08
The sound is good from the Miniblaster, but getting my Ipod in and out of it is a real chore!! It is very difficult to do. It not only is very hard to place in the miniblaster, but getting it out is even worse. I like the size of it as it doesn't take up a lot of room when I place it on the counter. Just difficult to use. It is also hard to adjust the volume with the "skin" on it.

Works Great - but expensive.......2007-03-08
It works great with my iHome. But I feel it is a bit expensive.
Great Idea!.......2007-02-23
I love my iHome remote, but it doesn't always work the way I would like it to. To make the iHome recieve the signal of the remote, you have to point it directly at the iHome. My iHome is on a shelf pretty far up, and when I'm sitting in my chair it is pretty hard to get that remote aimed just right. I haven't replace my battery, I just use the one that came with it, so maybe it could work better. However, I know a few people who have the same problem as I do. Basically, it's a great accessory but it isn't a miracle.
a nescessary accesory.......2006-12-06
For those of you with ihomes that you have sitting far away from your bedside or other central point in a room, this is a much-needed accessory. Though it should definitely be included with the standard ihome package, and it is pricy considering it is not included, it still greatly increases the versatility of the ihome. button placement is questionable (on the top there is power and play/pause then underneath it is forward/back AND THEN there is volume.), but the ability to change the song, volume, radio, and light settings make it worthwhile.

This device makes it easy to use the i pod from any point in the room. Very handy!!

Great sound quality for such a tiny package.......2007-11-05
I bought the miniblaster portable speaker in December 2006. I was amazed at the quality of the sound for such tiny speakers. Now, almost one year later, the speakers are still going strong. If you are looking for good quality pocket size speakers, these are a good choice.
A Great iPod Speaker........2007-08-08
It is tiny, compact (no wiggley parts to break off) it runs on batteries as well as AC and I am completely delighted with it.JLab Audio MBBG1 Miniblaster Portable Speaker for iPod Nano (Gen 1) - Black
STOP THINKING AND BUY IT.......2007-07-28
Best bang for the buck...i read all the reviews. just buy it. you can't beat $15 shipped. it gets the job done.
Excellent Company.......2007-06-11
My 11 year old daughter saved her $$ and did some on line research and ended up buying these. She loved them for the size which allowed her to take them into bed, on the bus etc. The audio in my opinion was "OK", but she was very happy.
We had bought them along with their noise reducing ear buds which I use while traveling in planes. I can wear them x- country very comfortably
Unfortunately we had technical problems and contacted JBL. I happened to email them on a Sunday afternoon and in about 15 minutes a real person (Josh) responded. A real person.... on a Sunday!!
He resolved the issue- which ultimately required a warranty replacement.
I cannot say enough good things about this company and Josh. I woudl buy their products again without hesitation
What a disappointment........2007-05-26
On my first foray into looking for the perfect mini speaker for my Ipod, I bought the Aiptek Mist for Nano (not realizing it only works with Gen 2 Nano)---boy, was it a cute little thing. Disappointed they don't make that product for Gen 1 Nanos, I searched Amazon for the perfect replacement mini speaker that would work with my Nano Gen 1. The JLab Miniblaster had 4 stars. Folks, speak up, because I cannot be the only one who was shocked by the low quality of this product!!
*When I first plugged it in, you couldn't hear anything because of interference from my TV remote!
*When I finally heard sound it was fuzzy at best and never got much better
*The volume level is only a smidgen better than what I can hear through my earbuds when they are out of my ears!
I read and re-read the direction and am convinced I did everything properly. I even tried it with battery power only, in the house, out of the house. No luck. This is a lousy product and I am giving it one star. This is being shipped back today.

Amazon.com Product Description
The iHome iH7W Dual Alarm Clock and Radio for iPods (White) is the perfect alarm clock and radio for iPod owners. This stylish clock radio not only allows you to listen to your favorite iPod music through a home stereo system, but lets you wake up gradually and go to sleep gently to the sounds of your favorite tunes, AM/FM radio, or a buzzer.
The iHome iH7W lets you listen to your music while charging your iPod by docking it in the alarm clock station, which features a sleek, low-profile design that can easily fit anywhere in your room. This unit wakes you up to your choice of gently increasing music, radio, or a buzzer sound, and features an alarm reset function that shuts off the alarm while automatically resetting it for the same time the following day. As additional backup, there is a dual alarm for days you like to sleep in a little longer, and a function whereby even if the alarm is set to music, if none is detected from your iPod the alarm will automatically trip the buzzer so you are sure to wake up on time. The sleep timer function is programmable for a 90, 60, 30, or 15-minute countdown, works with iPod music as well as your AM/FM radio, and even features an adjustable sleep volume that lets you select a comfortable sleep volume level without affecting the wake-to or listening volume levels.
The iHome iH7W has a built-in, extra-large backlit LCD for navigating through radio stations, displaying your iPod's current song information, or just giving you the time in either 12 or 24-hour mode. This unit has built-in, automatic frequency control (AFC) for enhanced FM reception, an external AM antenna for best-possible AM reception, and PLL (phase locked loop) digital radio tuning. The iH7W's clock has time and date preset at the factory, allows you to adjust the preset time to any of seven different time zones at the touch of a button, and includes a DST switch for a quick daylight-savings time adjustment. Even though the alarm and time settings easy to adjust, this unit features a sure-alarm battery backup (battery included) that maintains your clock settings, and ensures your alarm will still work in case of a power outage. As if that wasn't convenient enough, this iHome clock radio comes with a remote control (battery included) that lets you control all its major functions from a convenient distance.
The iHome iH7W uses high-fidelity stereo speakers in specially designed, isolated speaker chambers to deliver astounding clarity, depth and power, on top of which this system comes with an extra extension speaker for expanded stereo sound that really rocks in your bedroom, or any other room in the house. This unit includes an auxiliary line-in jack with a patch cord for hooking up other MP3 players or audio devices, is powered by the included AC power adapter, and is able to charge both your iPod and your iPod shuffle simultaneously thanks to its unique docking insert. In addition to the dual iPod and iPod shuffle charging insert, this iHome clock radio includes adjustable inserts that let it work with all dockable iPod models, from the video to the Nano. The iH7W comes in a sleek, contemporary silver finish that matches your iPod as well as your home decor, measures roughly 10 x 3 x 6 inches (W x H x D), and is backed by a manufacturer's limited 90-day warranty.
What's in the Box
