Amazon.com Product Description
What if one device could help you navigate anywhere in the U.S. and Canada, while offering travel tips, storing your favorite tunes and photos, providing translation assistance, and more? That device is here, and it's not much bigger than a deck of cards. The Garmin nüvi 350 is set to revolutionize what we expect from a GPS navigation device, or from any device for that matter.
The nüvi 350 is a portable GPS navigator, traveler's reference, and digital entertainment system, all in one. View product demo (requires Flash).

Design
With a total weight of 5.1 ounces and slim measurements of 3.87 x 2.91 x 0.87 inches (WxHxD), the nüvi 350 is just right for the pocket or purse. A bright, 64,000-color display dominates the front of the device and a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels means that there's plenty of room for displaying map data and other elements of the device's interface. An SD memory card slot is provided for expansion software, such as a points of interest database, media files and electronic guides (see below). The flip-up antenna includes an MCX-type connector for connecting the unit to an external GPS antenna. Meanwhile, a powerful built-in speaker resides on the back of device. A built-in lithium ion battery will give you for to eight hours of battery life, depending on use. In addition to an AC charger, the unit also ships with a 12-volt power adapter for vehicle charging, as well as a windshield suction cup mount.
Fortunately, Garmin has made it easy to interface with the nüvi 350's 700 megabytes of onboard memory, thanks to "plug-and-play" USB mass storage support. Just plug the device into your computer's USB port and you've got instantaneous access to all the audio books, music, photos, supplemental maps and other data on the nüvi 350's internal and SD card memory.
Navigation
The nüvi 350 is first and foremost a personal GPS device. Wherever you go -- in your car or on foot-- the device offers extremely accurate position data, thanks to a high-sensitivity integrated GPS receiver by SiRF and WAAS-enabled, 12-satellite reception. Combined with detailed maps of the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico the nüvi 350 provides automatic routing, turn-by-turn voice directions, and touchscreen control-- making it easy to find your way anywhere. Plus, the unique "text-to-speech" feature calls out turns by street name, and you can choose from either 2D or 3D mapping perspectives when you're viewing your route on the display. Additionally, the nüvi 350 is compatible with Garmin's GTM 10 FM TMC traffic receiver*, which allows users to avoid traffic tie-ups by simply pushing a button that will calculate a new route.
As mentioned, the nüvi 350 comes packed with mapping data for North America, but you can can also load up your custom points of interest. Set up proximity alerts for school zones, safety cameras, and more using Garmin's free POI (points of interest) loader program (available from garmin.com).
The device automatically calculates the fastest route and provides voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions along the way. |
Tools for the Journey
Navigation is just part of the journey, and the nüvi 350 is one of the first devices to recognize that. The built-in "Travel Kit" offers an MP3 player, an audio book player from Audible.com, a jpeg-format picture viewer, a world travel clock with time zones, a currency converter, a measurement converter, and a calculator.
In addition to the included travel tools, additional software add-ons are available, such as the Garmin Language Guide, with data provided by Oxford University Press. This software suite contains a multilingual word bank, phrase bank, and five bilingual dictionaries. The multilingual word bank and phrase bank supports nine languages and dialects, including American English, British English, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, European Portuguese, European Spanish, and Latin American Spanish. Now you can look up and translate more than 17,000 words or 20,000 phrases per language -- right in the palm of your hand. Through the unit's text-to-speech interface, users can get a spoken pronunciation of each entry in the word bank, along with gender and part of speech information.
Another useful add-on software package, the Garmin Travel Guide, is loaded with information provided by Marco Polo. These guides put in-depth travel information such as reviews and recommendations for restaurants, tourist attractions, and more at your fingertips. The software allows you to navigate to an address or search points of interest-- places like hotels, restaurants, shopping, and tourist attractions. The nüvi 350 automatically calculates the fastest route and provides voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions along the way. The unit also audibly announces the name of upcoming streets-- letting you keep your eyes on the road while navigating through busy traffic and tricky roadways. And if you stray off course, the nüvi 350 automatically calculates the quickest way to get back on track.
*Traffic services available only in select cities where RDS-TMC coverage exists. Requires the GTM 10 FM TMC traffic receiver and subscription fee to enable traffic capability.
What's in the Box
nüvi 350, travel kit, vehicle suction cup mount, carrying case, 12-24 volt adapter cable, dashboard disk, USB interface cable, sample language guide content, sample MP3s, and quick reference guide.
Customer Reviews:
A must have for travelers.......2007-12-27
I own a 360 and just bought my wife the 350 for her car. I have not owned any other brand, but the Magellan used by Hertz is terrible. Being in sales I find the Nuvi to be a MUST HAVE when ever I am in another city or need to find a gas station, restaurant, hotel or whatever quickly. I still use it when I am home but find that my old "trial and error" routes are better because the Nuvi only looks at distance from A to B.
I have not subscribed the the Traffic funtion so I cannot comment on that. Lastly, do not be surprised if some new destinations are not yet on the pre-loaded maps that come with the device. Overall, though this has been a fantastic purchase. Also, the Bluetooth function in the 360 is not worth the price so stick with the 350.
Very satisfied.......2007-12-26
The product has performed very well for my needs. It occassionally is off on very small or unpaved roads but on paved roads it is remarkably accurate. The size and mount have been perfect for my Subaru where the base attaches to the storage space in my mid upper dashboard. This allows for rapid removal and no sign shows of having such a device which presumably deters theft. The mp3 player is very mediocre and my family refuses to let me play it. Perhaps that relates to my musical selection. Service has been very good as I had a challenge loading topographical maps and they walked me through the process.
Garmin Nuvi 350.......2007-12-26
My husband and I are not technocrats, we are elderly. Frankly we were apprehsive about being able to use it...We received it, had a young friend go over it with us and believe me we were impressed. We used it on our latest trip to Tennessee, it was fantastic. We were given voice directions and reminded again when we got close to a turn or whatever. I would urge anyone to buy the Garmin Nuvi 350. The only suggestion I have would be to buy the friction mount rather than use the windshield mount that comes with it.
Love it.......2007-12-26
I love this navigation device. And for $200 less than others are advertising it, it is awesome. I have only used it around home. Will try it on an upcoming work trip soon. But it is so small, it fits in my pocket when I am walking the dog on the trail. Very accurate and has great local info. Best purchase I have made this year.
Great product, easy to use.......2007-12-26
I purchased this product just after Thanksgiving and it works great. The screen is easy to see at night and just as easy in the daylight. The best feature about this gps unit would have to be the text to speech capability for street names when given step by step directions. This allows you to focus more on the road and less on the gps device. This feature is a must when buying a gps unit.

Customer Reviews:
Great camera!.......2007-12-27
This camera rocks. This camera does just as well as the sd900. The only difference if the higher megapixel on the sd900. The sd800 has a tougher shell. I recommend this camera.
It rocks!
SD800 IS: a Great Point and shoot camera.......2007-12-26
This camera is great. It is an easy to use "point and shoot" camera. It works right out of the box and the various settings are more than adequate for any quick, on the go shooting; day or night, indoors or out.
Nearly everyone I know has some form of small digital camera of equal or higher resolution. Their pictures rarely look as sharp and clear as mine. I constantly get compliments on how nice the pictures I take look, 99% of that is the camera.
The controls and interface are very intuitive. The battery lasts for an impressively long time and with a 2GB SD card I get 596 pictures at the highest quality setting.
I typically shoot on the "manual" setting to adjust the ISO, white balance, exposure and focus. The "auto" mode works nicely as well.
Whether you buy an SD800 IS or some other small digital camera I would recommend a Canon over anything else out there.
Good Camera at good price .......2007-12-26
It has all the necessary features and then some. But the memory card it came with was inadequate but I just took my old one out and everything OK.
Not complicated or too fancy.
Amazon customer service is stellar!.......2007-12-23
The purpose of my review is not for this product itself, but for Amazon's stellar customer service. I just felt it necessary to post a testimony. I'm just an average online consumer who occasionally orders products online. I have no affiliation with Amazon; nor do I know anyone who works for them. I have enough experience with online shopping to see differences in customer service.
With Amazon, I've ordered products ranging from books, electronics, small appliances, and "other". I've never had a problem with security with my credit card. And all the products that I've ordered from Amazon, whether direct from them, or, was forwarded to an associate of theirs, arrived on my doorstep on time or rather, more typically, ahead of the estimated delivery dates INCLUDING DURING THE MAD RUSH OF THE HOLIDAYS!
For the products that I have ordered through Amazon, I have also experienced the value (cost savings). I can state that fact because I have performed in-depth research on the products that I have purchased before I hit the "OK" button.
After I order my items, Amazon emails "status" notifications. I can also log in and check the status of my order anytime that I want.
Only once, I needed to return an item to Amazon at no fault of theirs; I had ordered the wrong item. I returned the item unopened, completely in the same condition as they had sent it to me, and then ordered the item that I really wanted. Amazon credited my account within 3 business days of receipt of my returned item. And, I was delighted they credited me back the cost that I paid out of my pocket for shipping the item back to them. There was a minor hiccup with the return where initially Amazon thought that I had used one of their prepaid labels to ship the item to them. When I emailed them explaining the mixup, within 24 hours, they emailed me a formal apology and adjusted my account.
I realize that each circumstance is looked at by Amazon, as they do have return policies in place. And perhaps as you read my testimony you are muttering something different. I can only account for my experience with them.
If you are in doubt of ordering anything online through Amazon, you can be sure that they are stellar in customer service. In my experience of dealing with various online and various in-store customer service, I honestly thought this particular Amazon "return" experience was going to be a nightmare. They made it so easy. Amazon should be an icon and an example for other companies on what customer service is about.
perfect travel photos.......2007-12-22
I'm an architect, so naturally I take lots of photos of buildings when traveling. The slightly wider angle made a noticable difference, because now I can take great photos of buildings from right across the street. The colors are also great and I find myself printing straight from the camera output instead of spending a lot of time in photoshop. The scene modes give great results, especially the indoor and night snapshot modes. My dog's eyes usually turn out great with this camera's flash on indoor mode, instead of turning green.
Amazon.com Product Description
With a gorgeous widescreen display, the Garmin nüvi 660 GPS Personal Travel Assistant is your answer to the call of adventure. A sleek navigator and a keen travel assistant, the nüvi 660 is preloaded with highly detailed City Navigator NT road maps for the entire United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. This map database features nearly six million points of interest (POIs), including hotels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, and attractions, and the data is provided by NAVTEQ, a world leader in premium-quality mapping.
The nüvi 660 features a colorful widescreen, hands-free calling, and an FM transmitter. View the nüvi 660 demo. |
The device includes many entertainment and travel tools.
|
A 4.3-inch display with a touch screen interface makes it easy to select destinations, play MP3s, and more. |
This preloaded navigator brings all this fantastic map data to your fingertips with a super-bright, 4.3-inch widescreen display for improved map viewing, day or night. Use the touch screen interface to select destinations, look up POIs, and play your favorite MP3s and audio books. The display also helps you control hands-free calling, traffic alerts, and the FM transmitter, all from the screen of your personal travel assistant.
The nüvi 660, along with its counterparts, the nüvi 360 and nüvi 310, integrate Bluetooth wireless technology with a microphone and speaker that lets you make hands-free mobile phone calls. Simply dial the phone number with the nüvi's touch screen keypad to make a call on a compatible phone. To answer an incoming call, just tap the screen and speak into the built-in microphone. Making and taking calls on the road has never been easier, or safer. In addition, Garmin makes it a breeze to look-up and dial numbers from your personalized phone book or even tap into your cell phone's call history log.
The device comes ready to go with automatic routing, 3D or 2D map perspective viewing, and turn-by-turn voice directions that speak street names. It also supports configurable vehicle icons. These fun, customized car-shaped icons come in a variety of colors to add a personal touch to your vehicle's position on the map. With this GPS system on board you'll be prepared to steer clear of traffic with the integrated FM TMC traffic receiver. The nüvi 660 is designed to receive alerts about traffic tie-ups and road construction that might lie ahead on your route. All you have to do is simply touch the screen to view traffic details and you'll be ready to detour around any problem area. And if you end up missing a turn, or you're forced into a detour that is not relayed through the traffic receiver, the nüvi's sophisticated automatic routing will get you back on track in no time.
Instead of straining your ears to hear turn-by-turn directions or your favorite MP3s, you can enjoy wireless FM audio transmission via the nüvi 660's wireless FM transmitter. Tune your car's radio to the appropriate station and you'll hear all the nüvi's audio, including voice prompts, MP3s, audio books, and more, directly through your vehicle's stereo system. The nüvi 660 includes many "must-have" entertainment and travel tools, including digital music and audio book playback, JPEG picture viewer, currency converters, and more. All these great features make the nüvi 660 a complete Personal Travel Assistant.
Note: Optional software for language translation, detailed travel guides, and savings programs allow you to customize your nüvi to fit your travel needs. The FM transmitter feature is only available in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Lastly, the nüvi 660 comes with a free, three-month trial for the traffic services.
What's in the Box

Customer Reviews:
4th Garmin Product.......2007-12-27
This is my 4th Garmin product. My first was a Garmin V, though it did a good job I found it slow to recalculate, the next ones were garmin 2610 and 2730, great products. I also have a Garmin c330 I use at work. This new Nuvi 660 has a ton of features, all of which work quite well. It would be nice to have the ability to avoid roads by tapping on written routes and a more powerful fm modulator. Other then that the unit is great. I got a great price from Amazon, quick delivery. Overall a great product for moving from car to car.
Garmin 660.......2007-12-27
Amazon had the best price anywhere. The product arrived as expected. Very satisfied with all the features.
Impressed but yet disappointed........2007-12-27
I am impressed with the abilities of the Garmin nuvi 660 am extremely disappointed that the device is not compatible is with my iMac computer. This fact should have been easily available before I made the purchase.
Nuvi 660 Rocks!.......2007-12-26
I purchased the 660 over the Thanksgiving holidays when prices were nearly 50% off; Amazon did an outstanding job with timely shipping. Here are some quick notes for your consideration:
- The portability is impressive; slip it into the carrying case and then into a back pocket of your jeans; likewise, it would also fit elegantly into a ladies purse--don't make the mistake of leaving the 660 in the center console while away from the car--potential thieves can see suction cup marks and figure most of us are lazy enough to leave the unit in the car.
- The 660 package has everything you need accessory-wise, including USB connection to your computer, 110V connection for recharge, cigarette lighter adapter for the vehicle and a carrying case--you don't need to buy the carrying case when prompted by Amazon as you check out. I fell for the prompt and now have an extra carrying case :(
- My family immediately had the opportunity to give the 660 a shake-down in the Orlando area during a one-week vacation. Again, it performed superbly, with a few exceptions:
- On 3 occasions, the 660 steered us to addresses (Publix Supermarket, Hard Rock Cafe, & a Sprint dealership) that were non-existent. Lesson learned: Verify by phone before you travel to your destination first!
- The recalcuate route function works well when you deviate from highlighted route, although the female voice sounds pissed when she says "recalculating" :)
- The Bluetooth function works well. People I called from the vehicle reported poor sound quality from the microphone built into the 660. What was really cool is that the unit links with your phone's address book--the voice-activated dial unit works very well also.
- The function that allows you to route instructions into the vehicle's FM radio was marginal--lots of static and low volume. The internal volume is sufficient.
- The subscription service for traffic reporting worked to perfection--as we were returning to our hotel, the yellow diamond indicating a delay popped up. Using the re-route option, we took the detour that was recommended and ended up at our destination quickly.
- Although the service is supposedly in use for the Washington DC area, I've not seen a single alert in a month and don't plan on subscribing when the trial period expires.
BOTTOM LINE: I'm very happy with the Nuvi 660, would buy it again, and would highly recommend purchase to my friends, relatives, and acquaintances!
Nice Product.......2007-12-26
Garmin nüvi 660 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator Used this baby the first day i got it traveling upstate It was dead on and got me to both of my destinations without a mistake.
Using the FM transmitter was not fun because i have satellite radio and it does not integrate so you must stay tuned to the FM frequency if you want it thru the car stereo.
Also directions were poor reguarding setting up for traffic alerts.
Other wise great price and delivery at Amazon as promised.

Great purchase.......2007-12-27
Item shipped quickly and in time for Christmas even thought estimated ship date was Jan 2. My husband loves it. Cost $25-$50 less than any retail store for same exact item plus got free shipping through Amazon. This was a great purchase!
Great quality, user friendly product.......2007-12-26
I read several reviews before purchasing this product. Many folks made comments about it not communicating with XP. I had no difficulties whatsoever with this product from start to finish. I found the instructions to be very straight forward and easy to follow. It was by far one of the easiest installations I've experienced. I'm still working through the Audacity software (learning curve), but this is a great piece of equipment. No regrets with my purchase whatsoever. I would highly recommend it.
It's a toy.......2007-12-25
I'll keep this very brief. These usb turntables (this and the Numark which are essentially the same exact machine with a different name) are cheaply made pieces of junk. They are extremely convenient, get the job done enough if you aren't too particular about sound quality, but are about as well designed as the portable Fisher Price turntable I had when I was a child. Actually, that's not true, the Fisher Price was far, far sturdier.
Everything appears to come in the box. However, the generic needle/cartridge/stylus is laughable, and the Audacity software is bunk. There are much easier, and more effective softwares out there, but again, if you aren't very particular it's fine.
The bottom line is, that unless you really don't care too much and just want to simply and basically digitize your audio, go for it, but if you want to buy a quality turntable that is both good for playback of your records, as well as serving the function of digitizing them, there are far better (and more expensive) options.
converting LPs to CDs.......2007-12-25
The Audacity software with the Ion turntable is very easy to learn and use. I was converting LPs to CDs with excellent results in a very short period of time and would recommend these products anytime. The documentation is short but very easy to follow.
Ion Itt Turntable.......2007-12-24
I needed a product to convert all of my analog tapes and records to digital so I could save them an play them of CD's with today's equipment. the Ion ITT turntable fits the bill to a tee. Set up is easy to transfer either records or tapes to a digital format and they actually sound better using the audacity software provided. For the audiophile who wants to preserve his old favorites this product is a must. Ordering through Amazon was the best price and operation went very smoothly.

Only wish I had bought it sooner.......2007-12-26
I just bought this for use with a blackberry. I can't tell you how many folks have commented on how much easier it is for them to hear me and I find it such better quality sound than through the blackberry's tinny speaker.
Excellent quality audio.
Headset of the year.......2007-12-25
This is the best headset I've used so far. Years ago I experiented with inexpensive motorola headsets and got no where. Eventually I purchased a Platronics Voyager 510, and it was great. I heard people's conversation well and it was extremely comfortable. I was perfectly fine with it, but my girlfriend wasn't so happy. She said she often have trouble hearing me speak. I hang on to my 510 for almost 2 years before taking a risk at something new, the Jawbone. I was pleasantly surprised. I purchased it at Amazon for about $80 dollar, about what i would expect for a top of the line product. From my end, there was pro and cons. It was more stylish and more comfortable. Unfortunately, the volume button is next to the end button and it was hard to deal with at first. Another problem was that my now 2 year old phone would randomly disconnect from the Jawbone. I was still optomistic and it was time for a new phone anyway. I then purchased the Razr 2, and my connection problem went away. The best part of all this is that my girlfriend tells me that she can hear me, even when i'm outdoor and event next to a concert hall. I think the noise cancelling technology really works and I would recommend it to anyone who is willing to pay between $50-$100 range. Althought I really don't know if you can get a better headset if you pay more...
Not quite ready.......2007-12-20
I purchased this at the local AT&T store as I needed a headset immediately when my two year old Motorola finally died. After purchasing two replacement Motorola H700s that worked for 3 weeks each and died, I was up for a change. A friend had recently purchased a Jawbone and told me her friends picked up her call from an airport, and they said it sounded great. That was appealing to me, so off I went.
The 1st Jawbone was dead on arrival out of the box. It wouldn't light up to charge. AT&T cheerfully replaced it a few hours later the same day. 2 weeks later, the wire earloop, about the diameter of a paperclip, snapped where it goes through the main body of the Jawbone. They ship 6 in total, which are either right or left ear only. The second failed about two weeks later. The issue seems to be that the loop material is either too brittle, or to small in diameter in the name of fashion. The shape of the Jawbone is a little awkward to carry with you when it's not being worn. In a computer case, it can't really be flat, so the pressure from the side of the bag snaps it. The same thing happened when I put it in my jacket pocket. When I put on the seat belt in the car, it gently rubbed against the coat and number two was toast. The third one snapped in half when I was putting it on.
One more thing - bring a friend or a mirror when you go to look at one. It pulls my ear funny, so it sticks out, which never happened with the Motorola. I am going to try the Blue Ant next, and see how that one fairs. For now, the Jawbone looks like a future good product, once they re-engineer the ear loops so they aren't so fragile.
The best sound ever.......2007-12-18
Is the very confortable, the sound is great people don't realize you're using a headset, great sound quality. You can hear music (loud) and still voice command your phone and WORKS really something good.... just the buttons are really difficult to handle, they're very hard and difficult to find and use.... something more sensible would be great for these product... But I'm very satisfied with it
piece of s.............2007-12-16
I've had to exchange this twice and going on a third. Twice the earpiece broke off easily in the jawbone while in my purse, too where I couldn't pull the ear hook out. Now I have to return it because when I charged it part of the earpiece stayed in the charger. The metal that wraps around your ear must be cheap because it has left a rash on the back of my ear so I put clear nailpolish to coat it which has stopped it from giving me a rash. Also if left on for a couple of hrs really hurts my ear from the pressure of the jawbone. I don't know about everyone else but I have trouble hearing the person on the line with me. They can hear me fine and loud sometimes too loud I have to lower my voice. As far as background noise it has been the best bluetooth that I have owned to block background noise but what's the point because if it's noisy they can hear me but I can't hardly hear them! By the way I can hear just fine on a normal basis! It's also hard to get on quickly. It's even a bit difficult to put on it just doesn't open up to much to stretch onto your ear. I have long hair and it constantly get caught in it. So for me there are definatly more cons than pros!

Good Phones.......2007-12-23
I've had these a couple of months now and am very happy with them. I like the way the caller I.D. and messages come through the handsets. The menu system in the handsets is easy to operate and I haven't needed to look at the manual to learn how to operate the phones. I hoped the range would be a bit longer, it's about 100 feet with the handset outdoors and base station located inside. I also like the larger numbers on the keypad.
Good product.......2007-12-18
I am very pleased with this Panasonic phone. Lots of features and great sound clarity.
Good solution.......2007-12-13
Excellent solution to my bedroom comunication, nice range all over the area and the extension works great in the bathroom since i dont have plug ins available.
Best phone I've ever owned.......2007-12-12
Great Phone! Only weakness is that you can't control some settings individually on the handsets (i.e. wanted the voicemail not to play on upstairs handset). Other than that, truly a good quality piece!
mostly satisfied.......2007-12-11
We bought this phone as an upgrade and because we liked the idea of having two portable phones in the house. The old one we had did not have an answering system attached so we were using an old answering machine with it. It is nice to have everything all-in-one, but I wish the phones themselves were bigger. My hand starts to hurt after just a few minutes of holding the phone. You can't hold it between your ear and your shoulder while doing other tasks, so that is one strike against it. It is just not comfortable or "ergonomic". Why does it have to be so small? Also, it is a little unclear how the menu options work on the phone. I think I am scrolling through the options and selecting what I need, but it is not that intuitive. This could be better. We noticed also that sometimes the audio starts to fade after talking on the phone for a several minutes. I don't know how to remedy this. Otherwise, it is pretty good product. I still would prefer to use the old phone just because it is more comfortable, but the answering system on this one is a much better arrangement.
