This is terrific. It hardly worked right with any of my devices just by entering the code, but once programmed with its learning capability (which is VERY simple to do) it works like a charm and controls everything, even the most obscure functions. Just terrific. Don't pay 5 times the price for something that will do no more that this. My only complaint is that it is not backlit, which means you have to navigate by touch in the darkness.
Oh, I forgot to add that Amazon's price is terrific too.

This remote is perfect for my system. It is a step up from the similarly priced One for All remote we had before. We just have a TV, VCR, DVD player, and 5.1 Surround System, and this remote handles all of the functions very well. It is extremely easy to program, the learning function works well, and the remote feels very nice in your hand (it feels solid).

Not only are all your remotes reduced to one, all that previous button pushing is history, too. The 'learning' function is a snap to figure out. Here's my 'time for bed' example: one press of a system control button turns off the TV and DVD player, turns on the satellite receiver, tunes into preferred satellite station, tunes amp to satellite band and selects amp sleep mode. Nighty-night!
Ergonomically, it could benefit from a more rounded base; it would be more comfortable to hold. Aside from that minor quibble this remote is a very good bargain.

This remote is able to operate all my components, from an old 1989 TV to a new mini Hi-Fi system and all of its components. I also tried an RCA remote, but that didn't operate several of my components, plus it had sharper edges than the Sony. This remote is also very easy to program.

I have purchased this remote 2 times over the past few months. I have purchased a total of 6 for company use in our fitness center. The "other" brands of universal remotes would constantly become unprogrammed and then were very difficult to reprogram. This remote is so easy to program and easy to use. I feel very good about my purchase and urge others to purchase the product.

The Universal Remote Control does not recognize Sharpe T/V or Presidion Combo. The codes don't work. Upon calling for assistance I was told that the device I purchased does not receive Tecnical Support.

Cheap, works, retains the programming codes so you don't have to re-enter them a lot.
Only thing I don't like is the shift button. You have to use it for several things when controlling the DVD player, and it doesn't have a light up button or anything, so you never know if "shift" is currently selected or not. This matters when you press a button and it performs its alternate function rather than the one you intended. A light-up button indicating "shift" is activated would have been great.
Other than that, it all works. It's nice to have a remote that DOESN'T have 300 buttons. This one is simple enough to use...I control an ancient Sharp VCR, a Sony flatscreen TV, and a new Philips DVD player without any problems. Codes were simple and all worked fine. Best couple of bucks you can spend!
I would give it a 4 if it cost $30, but because of the incredible bargain and only a small complaint, I have to give this product 5 stars.

Just 5 minutes after opening the box, I had this remote programmed to operate the TV, VCR and DVD player. I love that the number buttons are shaped like numbers so you don't have to worry about the printing wearing off like most remotes. I was even able to teach my 4 year old to operate the remote since now she can see the numbers! Just what we needed to replace our old remote.

This remote is perfect for me. I only really needed it for my TV because the one I had was starting to go bad (sometimes the buttons would work and sometimes not). It's cheap and works very well. Plus, it has an attractive design compared to many other remotes.

If you're tired of a stack of remotes on your coffee table, this is definitely one to look at. And don't be fooled by the low price! Other than the lack of backlighting, this should be able to run anything that has it's own remote. For me it's a stereo with 2 CD players, a DVD player, a VCR (yeah - still a bit lost in the 80's) and, thanks to the learning capability, it's running my television that there aren't any remote codes for. Even though I hadn't thought about before reading the reviews here, it's also handles my portable air conditioner. If you're teetering on whether or not to buy it, I say take the plunge. Awesome unit!

I've used the ONEforAll brand before and have been very happy with them. This one is the best so far. It was easy to program for my JVC DVD, Sony Surrround Audio Receiver , and Mitsubishi HDTV. There are macro buttons to record/play multi-command sequences. The BEST part is that any button on the remote can learn a function from the original remote that came with your product. After programming my JVC DVD player by trying all the included codes, I found that the play button didn't work, but all I had to do was teach the play button the code from my original remote by lining them up head to head, and then it worked fine.

I considered a much more expensive universal remote but decided to give this one a try first. It works just fine. Programming was pretty straight forward and just required a bit of patience. The learning mode worked well too. I needed to use it because my model of TV was too new to have been programmed in.
While not perfect, this product is a great value.

I bought the One For All Universal Remte with Learning # URC-10820 and in all respects is good for some devices, but Not For All. It fails to link to my Directtv Receiver, even with the codes provided for this receiver. Not even in search. Now I have to look for one that will work with ALL my devices. Let the consumer know what 'IT WON'T' work with.

an excellent remote with a powerful memory capacity. Very flexible and programmable. Also, the IR signal itself is very strong compared to a standard remote supplied with a component. I have tried various "universal" remotes and this is the best one I have used.
Not the Right Remote for Me.......2007-07-05
I have a Olevia 542i TV and Polaroid DRM-2001G PVR. A few of the buttons refused to accept programming. A couple of button could only be programmed when they were the first ones to get programmed in a session, i.e. if I want to program (memorize) five buttons, I have to do the problem one first. Maybe something's wrong with my sample...but I didn't want to put more time in it than I already did so didn't bother trying to get it replaced.
I chose this model over the 8 Device model (URC8820 ?) because it has a few extra buttons. In hind sight the 8 Device would have been better because it's a more convenient size, and it takes two AA batteries instead of four AAA.
I lived with it for a while until a good deal came up for a Harmony 659 at $50. The Harmony is not for everyone, and it did take hours to tweak it just right, but it's what I needed for my setup.

I purchased this remote to replace a broken tv/dvd/vcr combo remote. Before buying it I checked specs of several brands and types to see if they could be programmed for my combo. This was the only one that definitely could. It has worked well...a couple features are not available but I expect that with any replacement control. I've also programmed it to my bose radio and my dish network box and the controls have worked just fine. Now my coffee table is a lot less cluttered.

This is a wonderful remote that you can get to function exactly as you want it to. It learns any key you want and if a device isn't in the codes, the company will search for a code or capture the code from the original remote.
I bought a harmony remote and this one shortly after. The harmony had to be tweeked several times and never quite worked all the components right. Also the company monitors and saves all your information. The Harmony's buttons at first were hyper sensitive then they wouldn't respond at all. I had to replace the harmony (under warranty) because the screen went out. The second, although the screen hasn't gone out, has the same problems, it turns off my TV when I try to switch from DVD to TiVo yet it doesn't the other way (makes no sense), to be fair my TV wasn't in the data base so I still had to use the original remote and point it at the harmony to set it up. It constantly got the inputs wrong, I tried several different methods, all but call the company (I hear they have great customer support), but finally I would change the inputs manually. It doesn't give you that choice at first. It was a lot of computer to TV- computer to TV time. This remote, the One for All, is so much better.
The One 4 All remotes are cheaper and the same quality if not better (no screen to go out) than the hamony. All for Ones customer support will search for new codes and capture your code if they can't find it to upgrade immediately.
With the harmony you didn't have the option of picking one of the seldomly used keys and reassigning a function that I use frequently (zoom of the TV or Live TV for Tivo) they decide for you which functions are the frequent and main keys and which you will have to scroll for. On my remote it was the Live TV and the input for SV I used frequently so on the ONE 4 ALL I could assign any key I wanted to do that function.
You can program any key you want to do what you want. You want to control the fan in the room, the space heater or a/c, whatever has a remote as long as it isn't Radio Frequency, most are remotes are IR. If you want RF also you can get the One for All URC 9910 and then you can send signals through the walls and change the channels from other rooms in the house. Want your Tivo to control two different TV in different rooms of your house, its RF to IR converter would do that. Personally I only need the IR remote part so this remote, here at amazon under $20 today, is the best. The One for All Learning Upgradeble Remotes 6 Device, 8 Device and 10 has literally taken the place of all of my old remotes. I use ONE remote for all the devices in my house with remotes. I have bought extra remotes of this brand to have at my couch, my bedroom, my computer. I have bought these remotes as presents for family at this point.

Might as well buy a $20 Universal Remote.......2007-11-15
I was very excited to buy this, the look and feel is nice, the ability to add functions and learning from your existing remote should be a no-brainer at this price-point.
When I finally got the remote and was able to set it up for my system I found that it's much more difficult to setup than expected if you've got functions that don't already exist in the library. There were functions that I wanted that didn't exist and I found that the SRU9600 wouldn't recognize some commands from my current (working) remote. I also found that you couldn't customize the LCD layout at all. If you have a bunch of empty LCD space for a particular device and want to add a button (function) that exists on your currrent remote but doesn't exist on the SRU9600, your out of luck and just need to live with it and select some random button that you don't need and then try and remember which button does what.
Pros:
- It's pretty
- It can learn (in a limited fashion) commands from existing remotes
- It has an existing library of devices that it can choose from to try and get a device to work.
Cons:
- It doesn't learn all IR commands
- You can't change the layout of the LCD menus at all
- Most really useful comands for components seem to only exist on the jog dial.
- A lot of wasted space on the LCD screen that should be available for custom buttons.
- You can't upgrade the remote's device library, all additional updates need to be by learning the new device's commands
Basically, this is the equivilent of a very nice looking $20 universal remote with a touch-screen LCD.
It's not worth it unless you absolutely, positively need the touch-screen...Your money would be better off spent on a different remote.
A great convenience.......2007-10-17
The SRU9600 has fulfilled the promise of replacing five remotes with just one. I control my TV, cable, AMP, DVD Multi-disk player and my DVD single disk player. I compared it to the Logitech and the SRU9600 was much easier to program and far easier to use. I wasn't able to get the Logitech to learn several important functions. The SRU9600 will do about 75% of the functions I need which covers my usage 90% of the time. There are some functions with recording and playing the DVR for which I still use the regular remote.

Nice to look at ,however it is more trouble than its worth. After several attemps to use this remote on a "Go Vidio" D V D /V C R combo player I resulted to The Companies help line . Even their tech couldn't help. I purchased A much cheaper remote that was able to work all of my entertainment ctr. items with much less confusion for less than half the price.

easy to read display, User Freindly, Learns commands from a working remote. Has a hugh database of codes. I was able to use the stored codes for all my electronic devices except a CineVision DVD Player.
Con's
Back light does not stay on long enough. Does not fully control a Philips DVD-HDD. Not enough buttons for some devices. Should have more function labels listed in the Jog screen. Some buttons too close to each other.
Philips SRU 9600 Remote & Direct TV HDTV is incompatible.......2007-06-30
I received my Philips SRU 9600 remote in late May and several weeks later I began the programming required for each piece of equipment. All went well until I tried the Direct TV H-20 satellite dish receiver. The remote allowed me to pick Direct TV from a list of 127 models, but it didn't fuction. Then it prompted me to hold down the "OK" button while it tried all 127 different models. It still didn't function. For several days I tried the customer service number in the manual with waits as long as 45 minutes. I finally got through today and when I explained my problem the tech immediately asked if I had a Direct TV H-10, H-20 and several other Direct TV receivers. He then explained that Philips remotes are not compatible. Of course it is 3 days past my return date so I am stuck because of deceitful ads.

This vendor does a great job of swift delivery. This remote is easy to set up and works well BUT I would advise against it for a Sharp TV. After using it awhile it would wipe out the preset channels from 20 through 80. I have no clue as to how it would do this. I would have to go through the channel setup again. A few hours/days later it would do it again. I stopped using this channel change and the problem went away, Go figure. This vendor does a great job of swift delivery.

This is very well designed device. I bought it when I integrated our computer to our home theater center and needed a replacement for the mouse. This was perfect for this use.
I'd suggest that anyone who buys this change their computer's mouse settings. This can be done on Windows PCs (don't know about vista) by going to control panel and selecting either "Mouse" or "Printers and Other Hardware" then Mouse (depending on your version and setup). From there you have many options depending on your particular needs.
I chose to slow down the pointer speed for smoother movement. Another useful change I made was Enabling "ClickLock"; this allows you to drag without having to use both hands by holding the mouse button down for a length of time you can choose and clicking again to release.
Pros:
Does everything it says. Fully functional mouse; PowerPoint Presenter; Basic Multimedia Buttons.
The roller-ball gets smoother with use.
It has very good reception; worked through walls all around the house.
The laser drives my wife's cats crazy.
Cons:
Like others have mentioned, the volume up and down buttons seem backwards but it doesn't take long to get used to.
The only real issue I have is that the buttons don't seem to be programmable. I considered returning it for this reason alone, but none of the other presenters I looked at were as functional as this one so it stays.

Very nice product, works as advertised, the left & right buttons should be have been at the bottom. The laser trigger make is feel like a gun. Setup was easy, if you read the 4 page manual.
Wireless Multimedia Mouse.......2007-06-20
Used this item giving some power point lectures and really liked it. Had just got new computer hooked up to large flat screen TV and the wireless mouse that came with the computer had to be used on the couch, not optimal. The Targus is a slight improvement. The thumb trackball takes some getting used to. The unit doesn't have a time-out or standby function like my other mouse, so you have to remember to turn it off. It eats batteries. The volume control is counter intuitive (Volume up is the left mouse click?) All in all, a useful item.
Great for the Lazy Web Surfer.......2007-05-09
I bought this primarily so I could sit back away from my monitor, lean back in my chair, and still surf the web. To that end, it works great. The battery life is a little short, but that's a minor issue. My only suggestion is to be sure to follow the directions about linking the transmitter and receiver when you first hook it up, and again anytime you change the batteries. As long as you do that the connection is a snap. It doesn't do a lot of things, but what it does, it does really well.

I have extensively used other presenters from other reputed brands, but many of them lacked the complete functionality. This piece comes with a mouse built-in which really helps in controlling the presentation. Would highly recommend this to anyone who lives his work life doing presentations.

I have this for over a year now and even it is falling a lot - we have three kids in the house - it is still working a 100% It is also easy to program. I have 2 audio amplifiers that are not listed with a code, but both are working fine with remote to remote command transfer.

I have a Samsung LCD tv, Sony home theater, Dish network and a sony dvd player.
Expect for the home theater remotes works excellent for the other three things. For home thetare - if we are not playing DVD then we use the DVD option on remote and then we get the desired functionallity.

This is what I have been looking for! My TV and DishNetwork sat receiver BOTH came with crappy remotes. The TV remote needs to be less than a foot from the TV to work. This does all of the sat receiver functions and the commonly used ones for the brand "Z" TV. One word of caution: the instructions for "learning" the old remote aren't clear. When you press the button to be programmed on the One for All remote, the LED lights for 5 seconds. The instructions don't warn you that the button on the old remote must be pressed DURING that 5 seconds.
Ergonomics are excellent. Although the buttons are small and appear to be close together, my arthritic hands have no problem with hitting the wrong buttons as they did with the Dish remote.
Part 2: I just added a Panasonic DVD recorder, again with a poor remote that doesn't work well. This One-For-All saved the day again! Positively BRILLIANT engineering! Something that is lacking in most of today's electronics.
Excellent Remote - Good Value.......2007-07-28
This is an excellent remote and they have a ton of codes. And it will learn a bunch of items. They also allow you to send it in to add a new code that they may have that is not in the list. Hence the reason for 4 out of 5 stars. The URC-8910 allows you to download the code over the phone...but this model you have to mail to them to add. But still the One For All's that are learning are the best in the business... I tried Harmony / Universal Remote brand and a few others...but One For All is a great company for support...I highly recommend.

I bought this after I got fed up with the reomte that came with my Viewsonic Nextvision N6. This remote replaced the N6 remote and a Universal R5 remmote with bad learning functions. The One For All 6-Device learning remote worked great and only took about 15 minutes to get it set up. It's a great bargin.
