Customer Reviews:
Not what you expect.......2007-04-25
I really wanted this product to work. I was excited to have a remote that could control my Vista Media Center PC, TV, Receiver, and Cable Box. It works MOSTLY as advertised (the mouse control is GREAT), except for 2 major problems that are not what you would expect.
1. In the AUX mode, I programmed it to match my Onkyo receiver with the code book provided. All buttons worked properly, except the volume and mute controls did not adjust the volume on the receiver. I tried to override them with the learning function, but they still did not work. Interestingly enough, I could override the TV mode's volume controls to control my receiver volume, but not on the AUX mode. Not sure if it is defective or some limitation of the AUX mode.
2. In the PC mode, you cannot program any of the buttons - they are all tied to the PC so you cannot, for example, make the volume buttons in the PC mode control your receiver. That means you have to switch to TV or AUX mode to control the volume of anything but the PC. A definite deal breaker for anyone who has a receiver or doesn't use the PC to control volume.
FYI - I called tech support, and the man I spoke to said he didn't know anything about the "newer products" and transferred me (after accidentally hanging up on me) to somoeone who did. That guy had no idea what the problem was and insisted that my receiver must be the problem. Not super helpful, and this solidified my decision to return.
Also, there is a label in the box that says "In order to enable all Media Center features, visit http://www.gyration.com/remote-update. This URL does not exist. Searching the Gyration site also yielded no support information, manuals, or downloads of any kind for this product.
Great product idea, but very poorly executed.

Customer Reviews:
Almost perfect.......2007-11-08
This is a great remote if you are using Windows XP Media Center Edition or Vista. The buttons are well laid out and have a good tactile feel. The remote fits nicely in the palm of my hand and the finish feels nice to the touch.
My only problems with the remote are more with the design of the Media Center that it controls. There is no option to close Medial Center from the remote. There are 2 power buttons on the remote, one controls your TV if you have configured it, and the other puts Windows to sleep. Since I use Windows as both a computer and a media center, I only need to close media center and not put the computer to sleep. In order to close media center, I have to use my mouse to click the x in the upper right hand corner.
It would also be nice if this remote could incorporate mouse movements when not in Media Center.
I also wish you could buy the remote and the sensor as separate items. The only reason I originally bought this remote was because I needed a sensor for the Windows Media Center Keyboard, which does not come with one. In the end, I am glad I have the remote though.
Just what I expected.......2007-04-02
The product was brand-new, shipped promptly, and worked when I received it. All what I would have expected.
Another good experience with Amazon.......2007-03-08
This product was as advertised. I received it 48 hours after placing order online. It doesn't get any better than that.

Works great with MCE with no tuner........2007-12-24
I have Vista with MCE, but no tuner. I still enjoy watching movies and internet tv on my pc from my couch, and didn't enjoy getting up to the computer everytime I needed to change the volume, etc. I can do all that from my couch now with this remote. Would be nice if it was compatible with my other media players on my pc, but I can't complain. This fits my needs.
Green Button Remote For Vista.......2007-10-19
I ordered this item Sunday night, Monday I got the confirmation email, Wednesday the product arrived. This was with "standard shipping" - I was expecting it to take at least a week if not more. Talk about quick service!
As far as the product itself is concerned, everything works as advertised. Plugged in the remote receiver, Vista detected it, installed drivers automatically (I was concerned since the packaging contained no software, no worries its driver is already built into Vista). All the functions on the remote worked first try.
I would highly recommend both this product and this company if you want a functional remote for Vista's Media Center.
Thanks again!
Larry
Product Description
The RF Remote for Windows Vista is a sleek and powerful RF remote control designed specifically for use with Vista's Media Center multimedia software. It provides more range, convenience and flexibility than infrared remotes.Unlike an infrared remote, this RF remote does not require line of sight to the RF receiver. This allows you to manage Media Center from more areas within the room or even from other areas of your house.Since the RF signal works through walls and furniture, you have more flexibility in locating the PC that will be used to run Media Center. For example, you can place the PC inside an entertainment center cabinet or within an AV closet and still easily control Media Center with the remote.
Customer Reviews:
Great buy, great remote!.......2007-12-12
This remote does exactly what they say it'll do. The usb receiver installs in seconds and the remote is ready to work in less than a minute. It has the greatest range I've seen in a remote. It works from every single space in my apartment, going through walls and furniture. go for it!
keyspan does it again!.......2007-12-11
Another great offering from keyspan. I bought one of their credit card sized ipod remotes a couple years back and now decided I wanted a vista media center controller. This thing does everything as you'd expect it to, and then works using RF so you don't have to be aiming it at the computer/tv all the time. I'm still locked in the habit of turning it toward the tv all the time...
Functional but limited.......2007-11-13
This remote control is great for using with Windows Media Center/Media Player, but is very limited for use with other applications. Some applications have limited compatibility with this remote, while others have almost none. For example, trying to use this with video service Joost is frustrating and almost impossible. This would be a great product if its compatibility was extended to other video/music applications. If you just want it for Windows Media Center, though, it works just fine.
Live TV button on remote doesn't go to Live TV.......2007-10-04
I bought the ER-V2 for my Vista Media Center XPS410 from Dell. The "Live TV" button on the remote does NOT cause Media Center to go to live TV on my system. It launches the Blu-Ray DVD player software instead. I could not find a way to change the mapping for the "live tv" button to the correct function. I have asked tech support at both Dell and Keyspan and they haven't been able to help yet. This is very frustrating because going to "live tv" is a very common function to use.
Great remote for Vista 32-bit.......2007-09-01
First off, this remote was shipped quite rapidly. I received it only three days after placing the order.
Out of the box it has a light, but solid feel. The plastic feels tight and does not flex or make noises. It seems like it'll be able to stand up to some wear and tear.
I plugged the receiver into the 32-bit Windows Vista Home Premium box that I built, and it was instantly recognized and ready to use. Thanks to the RF receiver, the range on this is great. I have the receiver plugged in behind my computer and I can point the remote away from the computer and still have reception.
The functions of the remote seem pretty standard for a Windows Media Center Device. One feature I didn't notice before purchasing is that it has a button that can put the computer in and out of standby. Another cool thing I've discovered is that this remote has some limited functionality with iTunes. Stop, play, forward, reverse, and pause all work. The volume on the iTunes volume slider will not change by pushing the volume controls, though.
I'm very happy with this product and would definitely recommend to people looking for a quality remote.

Product Description
The Wavit is a remote control for controlling your TV, PC, movies, and Internet from your sofa. It comes with a Never-Look-At-Your-Remote! attitude. It is operable with one hand, and has vibration feedback. The key to its simplicity is its DirectPoint feature: Just point the remote at the screen and the Windows cursor will appear exactly where you point, stabilized to compensate for shaky hands. But it does much more than that because it accurately tracks other motions and actions as well. A twist of the wrist, for example, can summon a web page, change the volume control, or FF/REW a movie. A short push/pull can zoom into or out of web pages or photos. It is magnificently intuitive to use, and is meant to simplify the 10-foot TV navigation experience in the living room, in much the same way that the Mouse has vastly simplified the 2-foot PC interface.
The Wavit can also learn IR codes easily and, with its non-directional RF communication, is ready to make today's IR remotes nearly obsolete. Its sleek simplicity hides the utilitarian fact that it replaces the remote control clutter found in many living rooms today.
The Wavit is ideal for any consumer who has just invested in a large screen TV and who would now like to effortlessly enjoy and navigate entertainment content ranging from showing off your digital photos, your home movies, your MP3 song collection, and recorded movies, to going online to play movies, casual games, online music, get the news and weather, or to do some window/sofa shopping. And all the while only looking at the large TV screen, not the remote. The Wavit is great for controlling a Windows XP, Media Center, or Vista PC from the lean-back comfort of your living-room sofa.
However, the BEST thing about the Wavit may very well be that it comes with its own online user interface to allow for easy and quick access to 1000's of free online Movies, Games, and Music.

Living rooom freedom.......2007-10-26
I have been fortunate enough to be one of the early adopters of this innovative gadget that has allowed me to take my digital experience to a new level. After I decided to build a media center PC and connect it to my big screen TV, I was in the market looking for a wireless mouse that will not only replace my mouse but will also work in a way to make my on-screen browsing experience much simpler and intuitive. When I came across this WavIt, I realized unlike a wireless mouse it gave me a 3-D navigation where I can zoom in and out of web pages, and navigate back and forth with just a twist. I could increase the volume with a twist and scroll up and down with a flip. A flip and twist did almost everything I wanted to navigate my media center PC.
The installation was a breeze but it did take me a while to get used to this free floating navigation tool before I could get a steady pointer. The smartpoint feature in WavIt was just the one I needed. After I got used to it, I calibrated the WavIt to suit my navigation style and once everything was set, there was no turning back. I love the feature where it detects that your cursor is moving out of the viewing area and gives a small vibration to let you know.
I could also replace my TV remote with this WavIt but I am yet to get to that piece of the feature set. The fact that I could individually program every button on WavIt to a specific function makes this highly configurable. I have programmed one button to close any application, one to zoom in and out, and one to scroll up and down. Its so cool...
I would highly recommend this to anyone trying to control a media PC in the living room with a mouse. WavIt will give you whole new experience of controlling your media center PC.
WaveIT - the future remote!.......2007-10-08
I first saw information about this item in the local San Jose newspaper back in January 2007 and already at that time,I thought it sounded like a cool device - A kind of improved Wii for the livingroom.
I purchased the device 3 weeks go and I must say, I have not been disappointed.
The delivery and installation went very smooth (only drawback is that it takes some time to load the device once the pc is restarted) and within a few minutes I was up and running. The best features is the control of the internet (and there are great links to movie sites on ThinkOptics web), mediacenter and also the gaming controls.
It is just great fun sitting in the sofa and playing WOW on a 42" screen :-)
