Amazon.com Product Description
The first USB turntable that lets you convert your old vinyl collection directly to CD or MP3, the Ion Audio iTTUSB is a must for people who don't want to deal with clumsy adapters or mismatched software when transferring formats. Requiring no special drivers, the turntable comes with Audacity, a recording application that works with both PCs and Macs, as well a trial version of Bias Soundsoap 2 to clean and restore vinyl recordings. As an alternative, the turntable also works with any other software that supports USB audio input sound cards. Once connected, the turntable transfers both 33-1/3 rpm albums and 45 rpm singles to digital formats in mere minutes.
The iTTUSB also offers a few hardware extras, such as an adjustable anti-skating control for increased stereo balancing, an adjustable pitch control (+/- 8 percent), and support for high-speed vinyl recording. And thanks to the line-level outputs, you can connect to any home stereo with CD or auxiliary (AUX) inputs--no phono inputs required. Great purchase.......2007-12-27
Item shipped quickly and in time for Christmas even thought estimated ship date was Jan 2. My husband loves it. Cost $25-$50 less than any retail store for same exact item plus got free shipping through Amazon. This was a great purchase!
Great quality, user friendly product.......2007-12-26
I read several reviews before purchasing this product. Many folks made comments about it not communicating with XP. I had no difficulties whatsoever with this product from start to finish. I found the instructions to be very straight forward and easy to follow. It was by far one of the easiest installations I've experienced. I'm still working through the Audacity software (learning curve), but this is a great piece of equipment. No regrets with my purchase whatsoever. I would highly recommend it.
It's a toy.......2007-12-25
I'll keep this very brief. These usb turntables (this and the Numark which are essentially the same exact machine with a different name) are cheaply made pieces of junk. They are extremely convenient, get the job done enough if you aren't too particular about sound quality, but are about as well designed as the portable Fisher Price turntable I had when I was a child. Actually, that's not true, the Fisher Price was far, far sturdier.
Everything appears to come in the box. However, the generic needle/cartridge/stylus is laughable, and the Audacity software is bunk. There are much easier, and more effective softwares out there, but again, if you aren't very particular it's fine.
The bottom line is, that unless you really don't care too much and just want to simply and basically digitize your audio, go for it, but if you want to buy a quality turntable that is both good for playback of your records, as well as serving the function of digitizing them, there are far better (and more expensive) options.
converting LPs to CDs.......2007-12-25
The Audacity software with the Ion turntable is very easy to learn and use. I was converting LPs to CDs with excellent results in a very short period of time and would recommend these products anytime. The documentation is short but very easy to follow.
Ion Itt Turntable.......2007-12-24
I needed a product to convert all of my analog tapes and records to digital so I could save them an play them of CD's with today's equipment. the Ion ITT turntable fits the bill to a tee. Set up is easy to transfer either records or tapes to a digital format and they actually sound better using the audacity software provided. For the audiophile who wants to preserve his old favorites this product is a must. Ordering through Amazon was the best price and operation went very smoothly.

Big Mistake buying this........2007-12-23
I thought I had performed a thorough evaluation of home theater receivers, Onkyo seemed to have great ratings and a good "bang for buck" value. I however got a lemon, and have found out that 30% of the units are bad for HDMI operation.
Google "Onkyo popping". My receiver pops after about 20 minutes of HDMI viewing, and the popping noise is very annoying and begins to increase. I had to buy an expensive fan to help reduce the popping, but this has not stopped the problem. Onkyo told me to reset the unit- and this did not work. The unit is very cool with my special fan, but the popping continues. Onkyo was supposed to call me back (after the 30 minute wait on the phone), but that promise was never kept. My wife wants to kill me because we spent a bunch of money on our home theater and it is not fun to watch with the popping noise.
I have never left a review in my life, but this seems to be the only way to voice my disappointment that Onkyo refuses to even accept that there is a problem, despite the 15 pages of complains.
This receiver sets you up for the future.......2007-12-21
I was a little nervous about ordering this state of the art receiver since I hadn't upgraded my sound system since 1985 but I felt I had to with the purchase of a 50" HDTV. As it turns out, the manual and remote that comes w/ it is very thorough, making setup easy. The included stickers you attach to the positive side of your speaker cable makes it impossible to hook them up w/ the wrong polarity.. unless you're color-blind. I really liked the auto calibration routine they suggest you run the first time you turn on the receiver and test the speakers. It automatically sets your front, center and rear surround speaker levels based on where you're sitting, using the included microphone. After that, w/ the remote it's easy to pick the right listening mode for each component. Even my wife thinks it's easy to operate, and that's saying something. I attached a DVD/VCR recorder and my cable DVR box to the unit using HDMI cables, then a HDMI cable to the HDTV. That's another reason I chose this unit..for the HDMI capability. HDMI cables carry both the audio and video digital signals in one cable, thus eliminating multiple cables for each. This receiver, after choosing your source, automatically upconverts the digital signal to hi-def, another plus. With all the alphabet audio signals it supports: DOLBY truHD, DTS, XM, Sirius and a bunch of others, you're set for the future. Enjoy.
Not that great........2007-12-21
I bought this along with a Yamaha VR-661. I thought this would be better as it has HDMI 1.3 and the Yamaha didn't. I'm returning it back as the sound quality is just not that great. I have my Martin Logan's hooked up to it and the Yamaha is just soo much better. I'm not so sure about the video but the audio is just much more important to me.
Good value.......2007-12-20
The receiver has matched my expectations providing good sound quality, easy connections and processing via the HDMI links. I'm using it exclusively with digital inputs and driving a 5.1 speaker system.
The remote control also simplifies overall operation by controlling, cable, box, TV, and DVD. I was surprised it supported some of the more specialised operations of other equipment like guide operation and recording modes of the cable hard disc box.
Set up was easy, and the automated speaker balancing worked well.
One minor niggle on the radio receiver is that it does not seem to be possible to get it to remember a mono setting for a particular station setting. That would have been useful for a couple of marginal radio stations that are best listened to in mono to reduce hiss.
Overall I feel this unit gives very good functionality and performance in its price range.
Love this receiver.......2007-12-20
I almost bought the 505 and decided on the 605. I'm soooo happy I did. The HDMI a/v passthroughs, ease of setup, and typical Onkyo sound quality all make this receiver fun to work with. My 605 drives my Polk RM20's and Polk PSW111 subwoofer. Very pleased with the sound. The only issue I have relates to the Onkyo iPod adapter. I wish there was a specific set of inputs for the adapter. I ended up connecting the audio using the tape inputs and ran video directly from the adapter to my TV. This works fine. For the money, this receiver is a great value...

Audio-Technica AT-LP2DA LP-to-Digital Recording System.......2007-12-26
The player sounded ok, but I couldn't get it to record anything to my computer. The on-line manual is not at all straight forward. There isn't any feed back to indicate that anything is actual being recorded except a timer that gives you the time from the point you click on record. I returned mine and am looking for a better system that is easier to use and will actually work with my computer.
Audio-Technica Digital Turntable Impossible to Use.......2007-12-26
There were no instructions on how to use the software for the turntable. There was no troubleshooting help and what hints there were did not fix anything.
After 20 hours of adjusting all kinds of sound and audio drivers, the turntable did not play through my computer and it was impossible to make any recordings from the turntable.
Audio-Technica turntable.......2007-12-26
Easy to set-up and use; good amplification when used without external amp; overall, a good value for the money.
Where to put your old vinyl? - on a cd.......2007-12-26
The system was easy set up and install. The turntable works well and the sound is of good quality even on very old scratched records. There are no directions as to how to burn or manipulate the music files but it is fairly intuitive. It takes a little time to figure out how to manipulate the files but the whole process is time consuming because you are playing records and not just downloading music files. I am very happy with the system.
not for macs.......2007-12-24
The Audio-Technica is a well made turntable but does not work on Macintosh MacBook Pro dual processor.
The software that filters the input direct to computer without amplifier/preamp is supposed to be installed on Windows XP and would not install making it worthless.

Uses hard disk instead of video tape. Records from 2 basic cable channels or 1 basic cable & 1 digital cable channel. Up to 80-hour recording capacity. Ethernet & USB ports. Requires TiVo subscription
Amazon.com Product Description
The TiVo Series2 DT does something that only DirecTV TiVo users have enjoyed up till now--the ability to record two shows at once. This dual-tuner (DT) TiVo Series2 is the first standalone DVR that's optimized for households with cable television. Now, you'll never have to miss any of your favorite shows--even if they're on at the same time. It also offers the same entertainment services as other TiVo Series2 DVRs, including digital music, digital photos, remote scheduling, and hassle-free favorites recording. All this and the famed luxury of being able to pause and view instant replays of live television, too. TiVo DVRs record television programming directly to an onboard digital ATA/IDE hard drive, eliminating the hassles of videotape (imprecise tape searching, head cleaning, steadily degrading picture, fuzzy sound, etc.).
This TiVo Series2 DT model (TCD649080) offers an 80-hour recording capacity. It offers the ability to simultaneously record programming from two basic cable channels, or one basic cable channel and one digital cable channel. It also includes built-in Ethernet and USB ports, making it easier than ever to add the TiVo box to your home network. This enables you to take advantage of the TivoToGo feature, which allows you to transfer programs from the TiVo box to a Windows-based desktop or laptop PC so you can watch your favorite programs on the go or while others are watching live or recorded programing on the TV.
|
The Series2 has a USB port and an Ethernet connection, offering users with home networks the ability to stream photos and music to their TiVo, or send programs from one TiVo to another. This connectivity also lets TiVo subscribers access exciting entertainment services through the TiVo Home Media Features, which consists of the TiVo Digital Music Player, TiVo Digital Photo Viewer, and Multi-Room Viewing.
The TiVo Digital Music Player lets you enjoy your computer's MP3 collection through your home entertainment sound system. Access and control your entire digital music collection via your TV; shuffle your music library by artist, album, or type of music; and create a custom playlist on your computer or use third-party software to develop playlists for every mood.
The TiVo Digital Photo Viewer accesses digital photos stored on your computer and showcases them on your TV. View photo albums and slideshows on your TV screen, easily navigate, search, and view your computer's entire digital photo library, play and control slideshows of photo albums, and use the remote control to select and view individual photos. |

TiVo's Series2 DVR allows users to view photos and listen to music stored on their computer or other peripheral device. |
|

With the Multi-Room Viewing feature, users can pause live TV and resume viewing in another room. |
Multi-Room Viewing is designed for households with two Series2 DVRs and allows you to record a show on one DVR and send it to another if your kids are watching in the living room, say, and you're watching in the bedroom. You can also start a program on one DVR and pick up where you left off on your other DVR, as well as access the Now Playing list of a connected Series2 DVR at any time.
You can also find and schedule recordings even when you're away from home. With Online Scheduling, you'll have the freedom to schedule programs from anywhere you have a computer with an Internet connection. Just sign in to TiVo Central Online to access the same recording options you have at home. Broadband connected Series2 subscribers can also view both their own photo slideshows and those shared by friends with Yahoo! Photos, and check local weather and traffic from Yahoo!. Additionally, subscribers can browse and buy movie tickets from Fandango, discover new music on Live365, and listen to entertaining podcasts.
The Series2 DVR is compatible with virtually every television available. It also works with VCRs, TV antennas, cable systems, and satellite systems. A patented universal remote control simplifies program recording and controls multiple TiVos within the home (2 devices can share your existing phone line). Connections include: 3 video inputs and outputs (S-video, composite-video, and RF coaxial), 1 set of stereo RCA analog audio inputs, and 2 sets of stereo audio outputs. |
TiVo service requires a monthly subscription fee; see tivo.com for current rates. Other benefits of TiVo service include but are by no means limited to: Season Pass (TiVo automatically finds and records every episode of a series all season long, even if the network schedule changes), WishList (TiVo finds and records programs that feature your favorite actor, director, team, or even topic), Smart Recording (TiVo detects line-up changes for you and suggests programs to match your interests, if desired), and Showcases (exclusive entertainment plus recording shortcuts from some of the most popular networks on TV). You can even train TiVo to autorecord more shows you'll love when you use the Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down buttons on the supplied remote. Parental controls let you lock channels or set ratings limits based on content.

TiVO S2.......2007-12-26
After being told that my TiVO would not work with Dish Network, from Dish Network Support, I still bought the TiVO and find out that it works just fine. I am still trying to figure out the dual tuner feature but so far I am happy that I can record, step away, and go to bed on time without thinking twice of what am I missing.
One draw back to far, if a program time if off you might lose some of what you are watching because TiVO some how doesn't know that the program started late and ended beyond the allotted time.
WE ARE ADDICTED !!!.......2007-12-23
I recieved one for christmas last year, and fell in love with it ! I bought my wife one for her birthday, and she's in love with it more than I am!!
great box for a 2nd or 3rd dvr........2007-12-18
good deal on this one. bought it for $99 with a $100 service gift card. will make a great xmas gift for my son. first box arrived doa. amazon support was fabulous and shipped out the replacement right away. called on a monday morning and received the replacement unit tuesday afternoon.
What they don't tell you.......2007-12-13
This DVR works great, but you need to get TIVO for it to work. I just wanted to have a DVR--which I had before--and without the subscription it is pretty primitive. Get the subscription with the machine it was a lot cheaper.
Great Product!.......2007-12-13
I've really enjoyed my Series 2 Tivo in the one month or so that I've had it. I hate that they make you pay $25 for the software to get shows off your Tivo in other formats other than the Tivo format, especially since you already have to pay a monthly service fee. I also wish there were an easy way to find out how much storage you're using and how much you have free (at least I haven't found that option yet!). Other than that, the product itself is great and the service is also great. It's cool to be able to log in online and set a future show to record since I have the Tivo box on my broadband connection at home. In all, I'm pretty satisfied!

Turn Table.......2007-12-26
Some assembly was required, but it was very easy. It was simple to connect to my existing stereo system and it works great.
Excellent turntable for the money.......2007-12-18
through the years, I've owned the Thornes TD 124 with the Grado Wooden Arm, also the Shure stylis, and even the Pioneer tangential tracking turntable. I have also used this Sony Turntable for the last year and a half with no problems.....it's the best buy for the money. Recording records to CD's.....with a good record, or even a somewhat older record with a few scratches nicks etc. or with a good program such as Roxio, you can't beat this turntable........that's why I'm buying another one of them in case something happens to my older one...you want be sorry, believe me. Of course it's not one for rough handling such as a disco d.j. does.....it's for people who want good music....from their old L.P.'s.
Great Rekkid Playa.......2007-12-13
This is my first turn table. Super easy to use and to hook up. Thanks Sony!
It works and it works well........2007-11-30
I had to replace an old turntable of the same make and model (my grandson's had experimented on it I think) and found this one for a good price. The original worked well and this one, after listening to Jon Anderson's 3 Ships, works well too.
Good Turntable.......2007-11-03
I've had this product for about a month and has worked great. It's easy to install (all you have to do is put the belt on) and connecting it to a reciever is easy too. The turntable has great sound especially since I enjoy listening to records over CDs or digital. Also a great price and free shiping on amazon is great too!

4 stars but only because of the price.......2007-12-20
I needed a new cd changer, so bought this one based on other reviews. It's not bad, and I trust Sony quality, but the sound is just not good enough. To get sufficient bass you have to turn the volume up way too high. I had to ditch the speakers and run it through a 3 pc. speaker system to get satisfactory sound quality.
BUT, for the price it's certainly all you can expect.
False Advertising!.......2007-12-14
This product was shown with a tape player in it but when I received the product and unpacked it, there was no tape player in the unit. Apparently this was the North American Version with no tape player. I kept it anyway because it served my purposes and I didn't want the hassle of packing it up and returning it. However, I will not buy another product from your sight.
Falling in Love.......2007-12-03
We got the Sony yesterday for Christmas, and unpacked it right away. It is bigger than we expected, and we had to rearrange part of our living room to accommodate the player. It really is wonderful. The sound is surprising for a unit that sells in this price range. We like chamber music and we got it sounding right.
I read on some of the reviews posted here that the disc changer is loud. Give me a break. The changer does what it has to do without interfering. If your ears are so sensitive or your expectations so pure that the sound of a disc moving in a machine is going to upset your sensibilities then I don't know what you might really want. It's a bargain.
Not as advertised.......2007-12-02
My daughter loves music and as such is very particular in the features she wants. She has an extensive music collection which includes some cassettes and she wanted a system with a sub-woofer. Despite what the technical specs say, this system has neither. I thought it would be a perfect gift as most systems with subwoofers are much more powerfull than she needs (they are also much more expensive) and was very disappointed with what I received. I was also unimpressed with Amazon's lack of interest in resolving the situation. I have returned the unit and will seek another system elsewhere.
Sounds good.......2007-12-02
Nice little stereo. The CD changer is a little slow and noisy, but that is not unusual. I haven't tried it with MP3's yet. The sound, volume, and controls are nice. The included antennas seem to pick up distant stations well. That is important for country-dwellers like me.

Great Sound.......2007-12-25
Great sound. The automatic speaker set up worked great. Set up with two Infinity Beta 50s biamped and a beta 50 center speaker. rear speakers and sub woofer are Kenwoods from old system (I plan to replace them soon). The Odyssey set up was very accurate, it determines the distance of the speakers from a test sound. I measured the distances and compared it to what it said and it was right on. Even my old rear and subwoofer sound very good with this receiver. Stereo sound with just the two Beta 50s sounds incredible. HDMI switching is great. I have not used it to up convert video signals since I am running HDMI for every thing. Movies in surround sound sound awesome as expected.
Outstanding Receiver for the "Price"!!!!.......2007-12-21
I received my receiver yesterday. I bought from Amazon. Got great price and great free shipping - received in 3 days from when I ordered.
The setup and installtion was a walk in the park. I didnt even read the manual - now I have to agree I have lot of experience in dealing with these but still I would say the onscreen setup and menus are very intutive. I changed the name of the game/TV to PS3 etc very easily.
Did the Speaker setup and it was great and easy.
I saw terminator 2 (blu ray) on PS3 and it was just fabulous. I had Yamaha Rx-V2400 earlier and I thought that was amazing. I even thought of not buying this receiver and just buying the DMP-BD10AK because it has 7.1 analog audio (I know I know that was idiotic thought but still) and now I am way happier with the results. Even my novice wife (who had questions about my decision to buy the receiver) also acknowledged the audio looks superb - worth the price.
Apart from the audio now I have one HDMi cable running to my projector (still have the component there) and I can switch the inputs to the receiver without switching the projector input. That was not a issue for me but it will make the theater usage much simpler for my wife and dad.
I do not have any heating issues at all. The receiver has 7" of open space on the top and the back of the entertainent system is also open. I can feel the heat coming out of the box but its getting dissipated very good. I am at advantage here because my system is in the home theater in the basement and the way I have the entertainment system setup - its not visible (remote works via the universal RF transmitter) so I can keep the back side open with wires showing. But that I think is the key to cool operation of this unit. If I keep this unit in any enclosed unit (typical credenza style entertainment center) it will heat up.
The only issue I saw was (as noted by others) there was considerable delay in switching the inputs. But given the price that downside is acceptable to me at least.
Before buying this unit I contemplated buying the TX-SR875 - I am happy I did not spend the extra $550. This unit will pass the 1080p input from any HDMI source (PS3 for me) to the projector/TV. I do not see any other 1080p source in the distant future than the HD-DVD or blu ray players. BTW I dont think any of these will win - it will be standard definition download - in 2-3 years. Remember DVD-Audio/SACD war?? who won - MP3!!! So dont worry I think what ever you buy(blu ray or HD DVD) it is going to go down the drain soon when somebody will provide you will instant movie downloads for $2 per movie!!! Back to SR875 Vs 805 I right now have a 720p projector (1080p is for next year). The PS3 works as the network connector through my wifi connection to it and I can see all the data I have on the 1TB of storage on my main PC. So the only functionality I think I lost was the video upscaling of my non-highdef dish connection. I have never seen the upscaling work to the extent where I can justify paying any money for it. So I think 805 is the way to go!!!!
BTW I noticed that the instruction manual is the same for SR875 and SR805!!! That tells me how different they are..
already in the shop for repairs.......2007-12-12
I had the receiver in for about 2 weeks and I had to send it off for repairs. It never upscaled any image up to 1080p or anything close to it. Additionally, the display didnt work property. I could have all speakers working and only the left and right front speakers were displayed on the receiver.
On a positive note, the help line was in fact very helpful.
It does get really hot!
Right unit right on time........2007-12-11
The TX-SR805 we purchased with the primary focus of THX certification and zoned outputs arrived sooner than expected, and free shipping. The set up did require reading the instruction manual, but the remote control functions slipped seamlessly into our existing component lash-up. The addition of this unit with the satellite receiver dual Digital Video Recorder and wide screen made the High Definition content even more brilliant. The audio zone control will fit snuggly into the whole house audio speaker arrangement. Great buy, just price and right on time.

very good.......2007-12-26
generally it's very good. Including a remote control, it's a great product out of products under average of $100. I felt, because of the limitation of its two speakers, the sound can't be too good.
just what I wanted.......2007-12-26
I had already bought one of these for my home and a friend just loved mine so I was very happy to find the exact same product to buy for a christmas gift for that friend and it was reduced. So thanks for a great little music system very pleased.
a great compact stereo.......2007-12-18
I bought this after reading other glowing reviews and agree completely. It is compact, sleek, attractive and has great sound. I bought it on sale and am very happy with it. Buy it!
CD Sound Quality Poor, Radio and MP3 Sound OK.......2007-12-09
I guess for a low-end product, this isn't that bad, but I was disappointed. Basing my confidence on the Panasonic name, I bought this system and gave my son my older Phillips system (more of a boom box and probably ten or more years old) because I wanted to be able to play my MP3s.
My old Phillips had better, crisper sound. CDs in particular play poorly on this new system. If it wasn't for the MP3 port, I'd give this one to my son and ask for my old boom box back.
A disappointment.
Excellent Buy.......2007-11-30
After hearing a coworker's mini system I decided to get one for myself. After reading lots of reviews for many products I came accross this one. The overwhelming number of strong and positive reviews convinced me to buy the product and I am VERY glad I did. The reviews were on target. The system is small, lightweight and easy to set-up. The sound is great - very high quality for such a little package. Best of all it is easy to program - just a touch of a button and your radio stations are preset. The remote is very user friendly. Would buy the product again.

Good but setup not so good.......2007-12-24
I am enjoying this product but setup was not as easy as I'd hoped... and though I am currently using it, it's still not properly setup to full functionality... I will need further help.
A VERY COMPLETE MULTI DVD PLAYER.......2007-12-23
Hi Everybody,
When you dee the box coming, it says it's a DVD player and that's what it is.
It's a DVD player which happens to have an integrated amplifiers that includes the speakers and a wireless kit for the rear.
The wireless kit it's an infrared module you install on the DVD player, an external amplifier where you connect an infrared receiver, both rear speakers and then to an AC outlet.
The wireless it's not what i expected but it's ok.
Take the facts and decide acordingly.

Not What I was Expecting.......2007-12-15
Sony BRAVIA DAV-HDX267W Theater System with Wireless Speaker Kit
I am very happy with the sound and video quality of this system. However I bought this to be a true wireless system. It is my own fault for apparently not researching it enough. I figured I would write a review to avoid others making the same mistake I made. For me I assumed that the wireless kit meant that there were no wires going to the 2 rear speakers. This is not the case there is a wireless portion that jumps from your entertainment center to a rear box which you then WIRE your 2 rear speakers to. You then have to have a spot where you can put this box. My wireless speaker kit is sitting in a drawer of my entertainment center because it would have made a larger mess of wires than just hard wiring it. Which is what I did in the end so I should have bought the non-wireless version for less money and been more satisfied. There are definitely rooms that this system would be nice for mine was just not one of them.
Great for the money - just one oversight........2007-11-12
As many of the other reviewers mentioned below. This system does NOT have any additional optical input which means you cannot get 5.1 sound out of your cable box, Xbox or HD receiver.
If however what you are looking for is a great surround sound system suitable for a room of 15x15 or lesss this is a great choice. To clarify a few things that confused me below. ANY XBR series sony will work just fine with this. There is no such thing as an XBRV or XBRS The V and S series TVs from sony are the similar LCDs with different frames and processors. The XBR2 syncs perfectly. But for what it is worth, all that means is you can use a single remote to control your DVD player and TV at the same time.
To add, if you are content with PRO-LOGIC suround sound (simulated surround sound based off of 2 channel stereo inputs) then you CAN use this system to connect to your VCR TV or other device with an analog input. It has this functionality. ALSO. - there is a 1/8" input on the front of the box suitable for playing your ipod. It just will not charge it.
Regarding the DVD player and changer - it is plenty fast - takes about 10 seconds to swap discs. The upscaling to 1080i is great and the sound is fantastic. Our houde literally thunders with deep bass and really immerses you in the film. The DVD player has some other nice features too including the ability to search by scene and time stamp (a bit better than the standard DVD menu. you can also bookmark favorite scenes. The tuner works finee. Not the worlds greatest receiver but perfectly fine for the average user.
So for me, the only downside is the lack of the optical input. It sure would have been nice - 2 would have been even better. MAJOR oversight by Sony, but for the most part, the HD channels and anything broadcast does not have 5.1 ANYWAY. So if you can live with playing your sbox in stereo or using the pro-logic function to utilize all 5 speakers - then this is a great system for the money.
The wireless set ups is easy. Infrared transmitter and receiver are realtively small and easy to mount or set on furniture. The rear spears require their own amplifier so it does require one 120v outlet and yes the rear speakers need to connect to the amp. People that are complaining about this not truly being wireless are out of their minds. Literally, yes it is not COMPLETELY wireless, but in order to achiteve that each speaker woudl require its OWN amp (making it bigger) and they would have to be battery powered (which would suck). So get over it. It's as wireless as technology allows and its great to not have to run wires across the living room to the rear set.
All in all I give it 4 of 5 for the missing optical inputs and the lack of EQ. What do you expect for $350?
Great Price and Easy to setup........2007-11-12
Had a Samsung system that decided to stop working and it was wireless. I found this Sony system and was wireless to rear speakers which is what I wanted. It is easy to setup and has HDMI. HDMI is Great for HD. I had it seup in 30 min this included taking out the Samsung system. Setup was easy and was watching dvd in HD with upscale in under 45 min. Would recommend to anyone that does not want to run speaker wires to the rear from the front.
