GREAT TV. My wife says the angle viewing is just not quite as good as the Sony. Use HDMI cables. Based on the price difference between this set and a Sony, get this set and buy it from Amazon as they have great service. Buy the cable from Amazon also.
Fantastic Value.......2007-12-23
I bought The Toshiba Regza 42HL167 from amazon for 1265 (no tax and free shipping). The delivery company was excellent and the TV set-up was super easy. This 1080p LCD HDTV is a great value. I researched consumer reports and they gave 5 out of 5 for picture quality and they were right on. I have no complaints about this TV. Best Buy was selling this at $1699 on sale. Amazon is the best price out there when you factor in tax savings plus free shipping. There is no need to spend the extra money for a samsung/Sharp aquos or a Sony Bravia.
More then Pleasantly Surprised.......2007-12-21
I agonized for months over what HDTV to buy. I must have looked at every set available sizes 32 - 50, at every store in my area that sells them. At one store one HDTV would look great and at another a different one would shine. So started looking at reviews on the net and this one kept rising to the top so I decided to take the leap.
So far after a month I have been extremely happy with the LCD. Excellent Picture; Great Built-in Audio; 3 HDMI, Analog PC, and all the rest (8 in total); MPEG Artifact Correction; Beautiful; High Quality Fit and Finish. Purchased an up-conversion DVD player and all the DVD's I have looks awesome on this set. With all that said I must add that the price is just as amazing as the set. Compared with other "top of the line" brands, this set cost several hundreds less. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. Set was delivered quicker then expected and the delivery guys brought it in, took it out of the box and placed it where I wanted it. Some of these places offer curb side delivery (you bring in) at a higher price then I paid for this service through Amazon - FREE :-) .
Amazing picture at a great price.......2007-12-15
I spent a lot of time in the big box electronics stores checking out HDTVs before purchasing the Regza. I couldn't afford a Sony Bravia but felt some of the no-name brands offered only fair quality. The Regza is the perfect solution. Amazing picture quality right out of the box for a mid-level price. Also, it has a generous count of 3 HDMI ports. I would have liked a USB port as well, but alas, this is the one tech feature it lacks. Will get a DVD player with a USB port instead. The remote is pretty easy to use and the instruction manual is pretty clear for the most part. The set itself is sleek and understated looking. A great buy!
The 2nd REGZA was fine. The first was damaged in shipping and trying to get it replaced was a challenge........2007-12-15
When you by a set from Amazon the delivery company puts it together but they take off before you can plug it in and test it. Make sure that your set is operating properly before you sign the delivery sheet. The set we received had a screen that was damaged in shipping and it took several days and numerous emails and phone calls before they would replace it.

Amazon.com Product Description
Toshiba's Regza line of TVs marry state-of-the-art technology to hip design. One feature that sets them apart is PixelPure 14-bit digital video processing, which creates more than 4,000 levels of color gradations for a smooth, natural-looking picture without posterization or image banding. Another benefit is a fast response time. Response time is the interval an LCD screen takes to from its darkest color to its lightest color and back again, measured in milliseconds (ms). This screen's response time is 8 ms, which is at the faster and better end of the spectrum. This screen is likely to display cleaner, sharper images during high-action scenes and with fewer image artifacts than other screens in its class. This technology is housed in a black gloss cabinetry that is sure to fit well with most any decor.
The 42HL67 has a panel resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. This qualifies it as 720 progressive-line HDTV, which is a noticeably better picture than standard definition sets, but not as detailed as the 1080 HD sets available. Its 16:9 wide screen aspect ratio delivers most movies the way they were meant to be seen in the theater, without back bars wasting the top and bottom of the screen.
The Value of LCD TVs
Aside from their obvious aesthetic value, LCD TVs are much more practical in the home than CRT (tube-style) televisions. They take up a smaller footprint, and thus use up less floor space in the room. Also, LCD TVs are lighter and easier to move around when cleaning or redecorating. The 42HL67 is only 4.89 inches deep and weighs 54 pounds. Best of all, LCD screens use less power than CRTs and plasma screens.
Connections
The set has a built-in digital television tuner, so out of the box it can receive digital broadcast ATSC signals and QAM signals used by most digital cable providers. It also has a built-in 181-channel NTSC tuner, so it can also accept traditional analog signals. It can also make these connections to your audio and video components:
- HDMI inputs: 3
- ColorStream HD component video inputs: 2
- PC monitor input: 1 VGA 15 Pin D-sub
- S-video input: 1
- A/V inputs: 2
Audio
The unit's SoundStrip speaker system hides the unit's speakers in a thin strip bordering the screen. They're powerful enough to deliver big stereo sound, but they don't add significantly to the size of the set. Toshiba's StableSound feature maintains television volume within a preset range regardless of the source signal. This is an extremely useful feature when transitioning between a quiet television program and a very loud commercial advertisement or when changing channels. SRS WOW, a combination of SRS 3D, TruBass, and Focus sound-expanding systems, create a 3-D sound field with improved bass response over standard TV audio and create directed, three-dimensional audio sweet spot for maximum enjoyment. The TV also has optical digital output for connecting to your audio system.
42-inch wide screen
A general rule of thumb for selecting the right size television screen is that the screen width--not its 42-inch diagonal measurement--should be between three and five times the optimum viewing distance, such as the distance from the TV screen to where your eyes are while sitting on the couch. Less than that and you may be distracted by the scan lines of the picture. More than that, and you may lose the detail of your TV. Based on this guide, the 42HL67 is ideal for viewing distances of 9.5 to 16 feet.
What's in the Box
42HL67, stand, 4-item universal remote, stand, warranty and product manuals.

A Consumer Reports Best Buy.......2007-11-20
Looked up the reviews at consumer reports and found this model to be rated "best buy" . I am very pleased with this LCD High Definition TV.
plays Standard Broadcast,Digital,HD and DVD's at the top rated quality and also at best price.
I highly recommend.
Great TV, even more attractive price.......2007-11-16
Just got this from Amazon. In spite of the fact that I used standard shipping, the TV was in my apartment less than 4 days after I purchased it.
This TV replaces an older Pioneer 40" HDTV whose lamp fried and I didn't feel like spending $350 to replace the lamp, when I could just spend $1,100 to get an entire new TV. The leap in picture quality is extreme
The Good:
The picture is extremely crisp, the screen is very bright and clear. The setup procedure is very intuitive and easy to use. The stand that it comes with is very sturdy and easy to connect. The sound quality is very strong if you happen to not have this connected to a stereo.
The three HDMI connectors is a huge value for anyone that has a multiple HD inputs (PS3, Xbox, DVD player, cable, satellite).
The bad:
While the remote control isn't difficult to figure out or anything, it's ridiculous just how many extra buttons there are on the thing. There have to be at least 100 buttons on the thing. Maybe even close to 200. I would imagine that I will never touch 90% of the buttons on the remote
Great bang for your buck!!.......2007-11-01
Excellent tv for the price. Haven't got HD thru directv yet, but I'm very happy with the picture non-HD. I would recommend getting home theater speakers with it as the speakers on the tv are good but not great. Remote control is easy to use. Overall, I'm very pleased with the tv in the short time I've had it.
Great buy.......2007-10-31
The picture and sound quality was even better than expected. This TV was rated a "Best Buy" in a recent issue of Consumer Reports. I would not hesitate to recommend the Toshiba 42HL67, especially at the price available through Amazon.
Amazing LCD for less price.......2007-10-22
I got this TV from butterfly around 4 months back. To summarize my experience in one word...awesome. Good clear picture without any complicated controls. Easy to adjust to your personalize picture settings. 4 good picture presets already programmed in the TV for those who prefer the easy way out. Audio is pretty average though....but thats good enough for me. Seriously, you wont get a better LCD TV for such a low price.
Highly recommended!!

Excellent value - but do your homework before buying.......2007-12-26
I recently bought this to hang our LG 37" LCD. It was by FAR the least expensive articulating wall mount we could find that would support the weight of larger TVs (over 32" seems to be the magic threshhold). When it arrived, it looked very straight forward to mount and the instructions were actually pretty good. Here's where my install turned ugly (and it's nothing to do with the mount specifically). I wanted to install in a corner and could only locate one stud in the area I wanted to mount. OK, plan B - use the other wall of the corner (an interior wall now, not an exterior wall) Much to my surprise, the studs on my interior wall are spaced 24" apart (not 16" like my exterior walls are). The problem is the mount will only span studs up to about 18". With my TV weighing about 50lbs and the mount a rather heavy unit too I figured the combo must weigh at least 75lbs so I intended to follow the directions and lag bolt mount to 2 studs or not at all. In my case, I was able to go to the backside of the wall (bathroom) and remove the towel cabinet above the toilet - cut a large hole in the drywall and build a 2x4 framework between the studs, then put the drywall and cabinet back (no one
Good stable product for the price........2007-12-18
I used this one to mount my samsung 46 LCD (4661F) and it supports it pretty well. For the price, it performs pretty good.
If you plan on mounting it and setting it in a position and only move it occassionally, then this is a very good choice. If you plan on moving your TV quite a bit in different directions, tilting and in different lenghts, then this one is a little tough to do (maybe cause mine is new and would need to get used to or something).
The articulating movement seems to be a little tricky since I have the TV between two bridges of an TV stand and entertainment center (kinda gives in a "boxed-in yet floating" view.
For the weight of the TV (~60lbs), this one supports pretty good, but does come down on a weight a little bit. Easy to put it up, not bad instructions, if you have ever drilled a hole into the stud. Need two people to put it up.
Thanks...
Pretty good articulating HDTV wall mount.......2007-12-13
This is a pretty good articulating wall mount for the price (I paid about $140 including shipping). You can buy a mount that looks better and moves around better and sits closer to the wall for $700.00 (plus or minus), and one that has conduits for cable management. This one works pretty well and I will find a way to hide/manage the cables. Nobody walks in and tells me I should have bought a better TV mount. In fact, they think this one is pretty cool. I can move the TV from left to right 180 degrees (with a 47" HDTV) even to the point that I can see it from another room.
I sent the unit I originally I received back to the seller for a replacement because the inner arm was very hard to move and it made crackling sounds. I hope the replacement works better (Seller paid for return shipping of the defective unit back to them and promised to pay for sending a replacement to me... have not received it yet). It was very hard to move the TV around on the original mount, but that is my only complaint so far. I hope the replacement does not have the same problem.
Finally, if you buy it, I think you should install the mount so that the vertical bolts have the nut on the bottom, not on the top (you'll know what I mean when you see it). I installed it with the bolts on top the first time, but I think I had it upside down because it works better with the bolts on the bottom. The directions didn't mention this, so they leave something to be desired.
I hope this information helps.
Graet item great price thanks 47 st photo.......2007-12-12
i bought a 52" samsung TV from best buy they tried to sell me a similar mount for more than twice the price. i was sceptical at first because of price differance, but i bought it and it was relatively easy to install and it is nice and sturdy.
Good item for price.......2007-12-02
Very nice item for the price. Instructions are minimal, but the mount is built and designed well. Holds our Sony 40" Bravia well. It will take at least two people to hang... and it helps for one to have some "handy-man" experience since instructions are.. not extensive, nor specific to that model.
One mistake we made is the center of the wall mount is NOT the center of where the TV sits. So measure accurately to take the off-set into account.

Strong, simple, perfect.......2007-04-02
You want to install your brand new flat screen at the wall and already spent a lot of money on the TV itself so you need something that works and has a good price? GET THIS ONE because it is strong and easy to mount. If I mounted mine and it hasn't fallen in 1 month it means it's good. Of course I am smart: read the instructions and used a stud finder.

One of the best LCD's available, but..........2007-12-21
Terrific HD picture, but standard def is mediocre at best. Sound is good enough; fortunately, it does supply an optical-out delivering terrific digital audio to a stereo. Beware the Thinc Home Networking for connecting to a PC and displaying pictures and playing mp3's; it works great with Windows XP, but not Vista. Toshiba is "working on it" but wouldn't tell me when a firmware update will be available.
I would buy the TV again if I was in the market for LCD, but plasma still delivers a better picture. Especially in standard def.
Unbelievable TV.......2007-11-28
I bought this TV a week ago and the picture is superb -- crisp and bright with great blacks! The 120Hz screen eliminates the problems with choppiness when fast action is on the screen.
The best feature on this TV is the audio pass-through. I do not own an audio/video receiver with HDMI so this feature has saved me some serious money.
Instead of plugging all of my outputs (video & audio) from my DVD player/Games consoles/Cable Box plug into my audio/video receiver, I use the TV inputs. I then run the optical cable from the TV to the receiver and ALL sound (analog & digital) now gets played through my home theater receiver instead of the 2 TV speakers. This works especially well with my HDMI cable box and Game consoles using component cables.
Happy Customer.......2007-11-26
I've had this TV for 3 months and I couldn't be happier. Not sure why one of the other reviewers complained about the sound quality, it seems as though they expect it should sound like a home theater system (doesn't rumble?!). The sound is actually better than I've had on any other tv. I did have to adjust the picture out of the box because of a bit of a green tinge on everything but I guess that's why televisions allow you to change their settings.
Excellent Picture, mediocre sound, excellent price .......2007-10-12
Purchased this telly a few weeks, I may be a little biased Toshiba reviewer, as I am a previous HDTV Toshiba owner (1st gen 30in HDTV). I was satisfied with my last purchase from TOSHIBA 2 years ago. I am satisfied now, after much research I finally deceided to go with my gut and purchase this LCD. Out of the box, the TV works well, so for the novice HDTV buyer should have no problems. The manual is detailed and the remote control is nicely designed. I don't use it but I may in the future because I plan to use the RF conection to control my cable box through the TV while it is in a different room. I love the idea of the TV like a picture frame, (no cable, no boxes, a beautiful crisp picture to feast your eyes on while enjoying the latest episode of NBC's THE OFFICE). One thing that I would like to address is the sound. I have adjusted the sound and tried different hook ups from the cable box, and to no advail the sound is just not that great. I am going to hook up a sound bar or maybe a couple extra speakers. Don't get me wrong but the sound does leave a little be desired. You can hear it and it does get the job done. But if you are catching the latest action movie. It doesn't rumble and tumble, if you want bass you will have to invest in a sound system (which most do anyway). The TV is priced right. And If you do buy this one, the price leaves some money in your pocket to put towards that awesome BOSE system anyways. So for me I think its a win-win. I am impressed with Toshiba products and now I'm a buyer for life. As for the customer service, they problem have bad customer service because they don't need it, If you buy SAMSUNG, TOSHIBA, OR SONY you aren't going to have to call customer service anyway. But there are some picky people out there and nothing is ever good enough. Alright enough of my rambling go out there and buy yourself a TOSHIBA!!!!!!!!
AWESOME!!!!.......2007-09-28
This TV is my first HDTV (or any tv) purchase ever. I love it. The ClearFrame feature keeps the screen from blurring while watching massive battle sequences or anything with a lot of motion and the picture is so sharp it almost hurts to look at. That is not a bad thing :). Well worth the money easy to hook up and get ready to go. I just purchased a PS3 a few weeks before I purchased the TV and I have to say the difference is almost completely unbelieveable. The games went from being kind of dull to being a few pixels away from absolutely lifelike. Blew my mind. If you're considering buying an LCD widescreen this is the ONLY way to go. Two vigorous thumbs up.
