The set's FD (flat display) Trinitron WEGA flat-screen technology delivers high image accuracy, wide viewing angles, and corner-to-corner detail with no geometric image distortion. One of the KV-32FS120's coolest features is its 16:9 enhanced mode, which delivers maximum picture quality by concentrating all viewable scan lines within a letterboxed image--wasting none of its horizontal resolution on rendering the black bars that border a widescreen image.

Clear Edge VM wideband velocity modulation improves definition at picture edges, creating sharper images by slowing the CRT (cathode-ray tube) beam's horizontal scanning during demanding work--say, when rendering transitions from light to dark parts of an image--and speeding it up when scanning easily rendered sections, like broad dark areas.

The set's digital comb filter removes blurred edges between colors and reduces dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped T-shirt), while magnetic quadra-pole technology reduces "beam spot" distortion and improves corner-to-corner focus and picture sharpness.

Program Palette presets offer combinations of picture settings engineered to make the most of specific entertainment types. Settings include vivid, standard, movie, and sports. Channel fix lets you select a specific TV channel (3, for example) for cable box reception. WOW! This TV is JUNK. I get 5 flashing lights and no picture just like everybody else. This problem cost $400. to fix and lots of people have it. It apparently happens conveniently at 2 -3 years of age. This problem happens right after it is out of warranty. I talked to Sony several times and climbed up the latter of deceit. The first three people I talked two never heard of this problem. As I climbed the latter they eventually told me this happens to a lot of people but the TV is out of warranty and they cant do anything for me. They also say this is not a defect and there is no formal problem with this TV. At the same time they admit that lots of people have this problem. To me that just doesn't make any sense. I will never buy another Sony product for as long as I live. Hmmm, $600. for a TV that last an average of two years then needs a $400. repair. I could find a thousand better things to do with my money. Good luck!

Do Not Buy This TV-Abandon Sony.......2007-02-19

The end of the Sony brand is nigh. Owned this TV for a little over a year. It's ridiculously heavy but, more importantly, the set died after a short time of use. I have experienced the same issues many have here and elsewhere (9 blinks, Zero Crossing Detector 255 -- basically, TV will not turn on). It's my understanding that Sony knows about this defect but will not issue a recall and will not help you. Calling in a tech is just throwing good $$$ after bad (the problem may return even after replacing the A/C boards).

My advice: try a new brand and do let Sony know that paying $600 for a set that only lasts a year (or less) will not endear customers to their merchandise. Even though this model is no longer available via Amazon, BestBuy and Circuit City are still selling this creampuff. Also, Sony's LCD-HD models are crazy expensive. It's all gone to their heads. No more Sony-anything for me.

Horrible value, horrible customer service.......2006-12-12

I bought this tv in Feb. After 2 days, I had the same problem other reviewers have mentioned.... red light blinks 5 times and tv would not turn on. So I requested a replacement TV, rather than getting it fixed. Sony refused but the big box store I bought it from was kind enough to oblige. So, here we are in Dec of the same year (about 9 months after we purchased the initial tv set) and the 2nd set is DOING THE EXACT SAME THING. I've done research and it seems this is a big problem with ALL Sony Wega tv sets in the past 2 or so years. With a 90 day warranty, it seems incredibly ridiculous that not even a year into having purchased this set I am having to consider replacing it.
