I love this TV - it is better than I expected. Delivery was so prompt and the delivery company was awesome. Much like the other prudent shoppers who have purchased this HDTV, I spent over two months researching and looking at TV's in the stores. It is very hard to compare units in the stores because the demo material they show tends to show only the positive aspects of most sets and they are turned up as bright as possible. I had previously purchased and returned a Toshiba 47HL167 because the picture had a slight green tendency that could not be adjusted out. This green tendency was not noticeable in any of the showrooms for the reasons I just explained.
I purchased the Samsung from Amazon and it was delivered only 8 days later. The white glove delivery was NOT exactly as advertised. Eagle USA (bought out by another company) did not make their 10-2pm delivery window and showed up about 3:30pm. I had to waste most of the day waiting! The delivery person was nice enough and did call about 1:50pm to let me know he was running late due to heavy traffic, but still.... He delivered the TV into my house (with my help, only a single person delivery team) then asked me to sign without unpacking and checking the HDTV as the white glove service is supposed to do. I guess I could have insisted, but I did not notice any damage to the box and he said I should note near my signature that the TV was not inspected. That way, if there were any problems discovered when unboxed, I could still have the delivery company come back and take it back. I agreed and he left to deliver his last two LATE HDTVs for the day.
The Samsung LNT4661 is everything I expected and you have read about in this and other reviews. The colors are very accurate and pleasing. A first rate picture right out of the box. I am able to display 1920x1080 @60Hz from my computer VGA out on the Sammy and the picture is incredible! This is something that not many other HDTVs with computer inputs can do. The picture of broadcast HD material is terrific as is DVD movies shown through the Component inputs. The upconversion capability of the Samsung is pretty good. I compared the picture with an OPPO DV-980H through the HDMI at 1080P. The oppo is widely regarded as one of the best DVD upconversion players on the market. The OPPO was very slightly better, but the difference was so small that I returned the OPPO saving my $182.
If I have any complaints or nitpicks, this would be it:
1. The way of doing channel adds or erases is a bit labor intensive when compared to so other methods. To delete channels, you must go through one by one.
2. Same for designating Favorite Channels, you must add them one at a time rather than providing a list method that some other manufacturers provide (Toshiba).
3. The picture in picture feature somewhat limited in flexibility. You can only have one of your main video inputs (COMP1, COMP2, HDMI1...) as the main picture and ATSC tuner image as the sub picture.
As I said, I am nitpicking. This is the lowest price 1080p 46" HDTV that Samsung makes and it has many other features that other brands don't (USB port, JPEG viewer, etc) and still one of the most accurate color pictures on the market equal to Sony models much more expensive. If I had to do it all over again, I would purchase this set again in a heatbeat and especially now that everyone is dropping the price down to the $1300 level. You won't be sorry if you choose this HDTV!

After much research, my family purchased this TV as a gift to the house and we couldn't be happier with the purchase. The picture is good (blacks and colors look good), there are ample inputs for hooking up components, viewing from various angles is good (TV stand even swivels!) and it sounds amazing through my home theater system. Watching DVDs is like being at the movie theater. Some older DVDs look a bit grainy but I think that has more to do with my old progressive scan DVD player or the DVD transfer itself since the newer DVDs all appear fine. This may be resolved with a HDMI hookup (my DVD player doesn't have it) or an upconverting player, but I'm not too sold on that technology as I've read some poor reviews of even the leading upconverting players.
Note: Since Best Buy couldn't deliver the item before Dec. 31, we decided to purchase the TV from Amazon and were happy we did. Amazon's price was nearly $200 cheaper with free shipping AND they did an amazing job getting it delivered to us a week before Christmas via their equally impressive delivery service. Thanks Amazon!!!

The Samsung LNT4661F 46" 1080p LCD HDTV was our first HDTV. Prior to that we watched a 27" analog set and the difference is amazing when viewing in HD. Analog programing on this TV is grainy because of the size of the screen. I like the fact that this set has 3 HDMI ports, makes hook-ups really easy. When we registered the television on line with Samsung USA we received an additional three months of warranty.
We purchased this TV through AMAZON and the free white glove delivery service was great as they unboxed the TV and set it up to insure it worked. Our first one did not (if it had this review would be a five star.) We called Amazon Customer Service while the delivery people were still on site and Customer Service advised us that we could refuse shipment and they would either refund our money or send us another Samsung. We chose to recieve another unit, so the delivery service reboxed the original set and returned it. all at no additional cost. Within a week we had another set delivered and set up. This one works great! We are satisfied with the TV, and the service we recieved.

Great TV with Crappy Remote.......2007-12-26
I bought this TV on the Thanksgiving day sale in 2007 from Amazon. It arrived on time (although I had to call them first to schedule...learnt from reading previous reviews)...i have been using this TV since 12/3/07...the picture quality is amazing, blacks are the best, sound is not bad ... I am thinking of a home theater system so it won't be a problem...however the remote sucks...i am an engineer and ergonomically this is a very poorly designed remote....for example the numbers (for channel) are on the top and to click OK, you have to move down...cannot do it in one grip...not enough lighted buttons...very hard to see at night in dark (where you usually watch the TV)...

Most people do not consider a television an investment, but I do - the TV is an investment in improving the quality of my leisure time.
This Samsung TV is an excellent product but it took a number of hours to get everything configured the way I wanted. I purchased a Samsung home theater system to improve the sound and it was worth it! The TV and the home theater complement each other particularly when playing video games.
A few caveats - I played the XBOX 360 for several days before I remembered to set the resolution to the highest available on the XBOX. What a difference! If you don't feed the TV high definition/resolution signals using component or HDMI cables, you'll be missing out and wonder what all the fuss is about.
If you take the time to set up all your components this TV produces a wonderful crisp image. It has all the connectors you will probably ever need.

I couldn't be more satisfied with the TV or the way my order was handled. The order went through late on the Friday afternoon after Thanksgiving. Eagle called to arrange a delivery just after noon on the following Tuesday. The delivery men brought the TV into my home, unpacked it, put it on the cart, and verified that it worked. I could not have had a better experience in buying this TV. It is awesome. The thing is only 4" thick and weighs about 60 pounds. The picture is so bright that I use it with the power saver option activated to dim the screen a little. I am using the HDMI input from my cable box and I have my PC connected to it. I give Amazon an A+++.

I purchased this for the entertainment room, and it is awesome. The picture is great, and I have a computer with blue ray / hddvd hooked up to it via hdmi, and a philips soundbar, and all the components work great together.
The picture quality is amazing, with the 15,000 to 1 contrast ratio. I am enjoying the television so far, and would highly recommend it.

I received this tv faster than the original estimated delivery date! The TV itself is awesome and I do not regret at all going with this model. The picture quality is beyond amazing and my games look great! It makes me now want an HD/Blue ray player!! I also loved the quick response I received from customer service regarding a "30 day price guarantee" They refunded my account the next day! They actually found a better discounted price than I was aware of and advised me they would refund me the difference! This act made me want to be a customer for a long time to come!! I was intially worried about purchasing a big ticket item like this online (was worried about the tv being damaged en route), but the delivery went smooth. TV came in excellent condition and the guys tested my TV before they left. VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER and INCREDIBLE TV!!!!!

Was overwhelmed with the choices. Relied on Consumer Reports for most of the information and they seem to done a great job with this one. The picture is beautiful. Am also pleased with the picture quality for the standard non HD channels. TV is in brightly lit room and glare had always been a problem. The matte screen completely eliminates any glare! The only issue seemed to be the factory settings were not the greatest. I am currently using a component connection and used the settings in post 1500 which I think was posted on [...]. The colors are fantastic. Overall I am very pleased!!

After much research and reading of various reviews we settled on this particular TV. It, plus HD DirecTV, and an upconverting Sony DVD player has produced excellent results. The 120Hz does work and is quite appreciated when watching Sunday Night Football (can't stand the Monday crew), the few HD hockey games, and even action movies on the DVD.
The only con I can think of right now is I don't necessarily need to see my news anchors in Hi Def.
On a side note, I have yet to watch an HD-DVD or Blu-Ray DVD. But I would be very hard pressed to purchase both the pricey players or the disks themselves after seeing the upconverting on standard 480i DVDs.
Oh and I saw a noticable difference between RCA connectors and HDMI on the DVD player. They are pricey but worth the $$.

Most amazing picture I've ever seen. You get a triple ball effect while watching football, but set tv to game mode and it goes away. Non HD channels don't look so good but more and more channels are switching so it's a matter of time before everything is HD. Would highly recommend.

I read all the great reviews,I watched this TV in the Best Buy store,and it was the best.
Some of the HD channels are very good. Movies on the HD channels are usually very bad. Choppy,blurring,poor color, basically unwatchable. The regular channels are OK sometimes but in general way below my old box flat screen sony. The whole 120 thing is a puzzle to me. I see blur in football games and movies,none of which I saw in the store. Maybe I should have gone with plasma? or are all HD tvs like this? I held off buying an HDTV for a long time,now I think I should have waited longer.

Did alot of research on many tvs, had in mind the 4661 samsung, then saw the 4665 samsumg and that one had very nice picture and options. saw it at circut city. Then salesman pointed out this one 4671 amazing picture quality but price was up their even with the sale 3,099.99. I wasn't planning on that price but the 120 mhz feature for sports watching really caught my husbands attention, and the 25,000 contrast made a big diffence also. After looking in the store and coming home checking on line and looking at my consumer books, which I rely on very much showed the samsung and sony where at the top. I did look at the sonys but they are even higher priced, my husband heard alot about the samsungs also that is why we went more towards that one. Now I started my research on line and found amazon which I had never shopped before, and the price was an unbelievable savings from all the stores. I was very unsure of making such a large purchase on line and warranty issues were a whole nother thing. Picture Great / Warranty Service Unacceptable.......2007-12-05
We purchased the set in December 2007. Excellent picture and sound quality. By March, light colors appeared speckled and grainy. By June, after warming up for 30-45 minutes, the picture was completely distorted.
We called for service on September 29. The in-home tech arrived on November 7 with a replacement board. He tested the set in front of my wife, and it worked (while cool). Within an hour, my wife turned the TV back on.... no LCD at all. We called the service center and they told us the installed part was bad. On 12/5, the new part was available and installed. Same problem. I escalated the issue with Samsung, and they told me that the service provider had to order a power supply. In the meantime, no working TV since September.

I wanted a Sharp LCD however there quality seems to have fallen. I found my eye focusing on Samsungs everyplace I looked. After waiting for prices to drop and doing my research this LN S4695D won hands down. Iam I 4 color pressman by trade, so color has to be perfect on my LCD. Trust me, get this Samsung !

I bought this TV in Jan/07 and I have not looked back. I am driving my friends crazy going on and on about how great the TV is. I am thrilled with the quality of the picture. The menu options are adequate. The remote is functional and goes with other Samsung products. The built-in speakers are weak and really do a disservice to the video experience. I added a quality receiver and 5.1 surround and the whole set up really compliments the TV.
The best recommendation I can give is that I would buy the same TV again even 10 months later.
Avoid Samsung, Terrible customer service.......2007-09-14
We bought this TV 5 months ago. Since then, it was nicely sitting in a built-in entertainment center. 2 weeks ago, we found that the TV is tilted, looking like it is going to fall. So, we decided to take it out and see what is going on. When we tried to lift it, the bottom of the stand broke by its own weight. Since it is still under warrenty, I called the customer service to try to get it repaired. I cannot believe what I heard? They said this is physical damage and it is not covered by the warrenty. I don't know how they can have such an unreasonable rule. Is it that Samsung did not make a good stand, so they purposely exclude such problems. My recommendation is, be aware of the warrety trick and the potential of weak construct (or just bad luck). All in all, the worst customer service I ever had.

LED backlighting is the future.......2007-11-17
When you see numbers like 5000:1 contrast, etc, it's hard to put a meaning to it, but when you compare this set against a CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lamp) you discover why LED backlights are the wave of the future.
First we had NTSC with it's inability to produce deep reds due to the severe limitations on its color gamut, now we have ATSC with a digital RGB signal that is a hundred times better than NTSC when it comes to color. The final piece of the puzzle is viewing it on a system with red, green, and blue produced by LEDs instead of phosphor chemicals in a lamp tube. The bold, rich color of HDTV comes alive with this LCD TV making the others seem washed out in comparison.
Sure, the contrast ratio is great, but it also will outlast 2.5 CCFL based LCD TVs because of the reliability of LED backlighting. If you are in a commercial institution such as a restaurant where the set will run 12 hours a day or more, that can add up to some substantial savings.
The LCD display with LED backlight makes for a clearer, sharper, and more defined picture than ever before with no spillover light around the edges. Combined with the picture quality and life extention, this is a true bargain for someone looking at a modern 46" 1080x1920 Progressive display.
Simply put, this set is pure eye candy.
Stunning Picture for the new Samsung LN-T4681F.......2007-09-24
This TV has a great picture right out of the box. Pretty easy setup. Quality I have come to expect from Samsung and the reason I bought this set. Plenty of inputs. Sound is also nice, but I use a Home Theater so I don't really rely on the TV's speakers. Very well-designed and looks gtreat on the wall. The stand which comes with the TV is also nice and could rotate a little more, but is nice and stable. The glare issue is not a big deal and I for one am glad Samsung is keeping this panel in the new generation LED sets. This has much less glare than a standard glass tube TV screen. In some settings you might be concerned about the glare, but the screen is wonderful and necessary for the overall picture quality. I used to watch TV with my glasses off because the fine grain stood out too much. Now I have my glasses back on because the picture is so sharp. The blacks are black, you can't get blacker than this. The detail amazing and I have not even watched a HD movie yet. I was eyeing the LN-T4665F for a long time, and decided to wait for this one to come out. Very glad I did. Very highly recommended.

Fantastic picture.......2007-11-28
Excellent picture, excellent colors. There's just nothing bad to say about this TV. I wish that the rear inputs were a bit better positioned, but that's just a nitpick as they're easily accessible. The standup mount that it comes with is easily removed if you want to wall mount it, and it's quite sturdy.
This TV is also compatible with Samsung's $600 powered wall mount, which is frankly incredible and well worth it. Normally a powered wall mount runs around $1500 or more and requires a separate remote. Samsung's powered wall mount costs less than half that, works with the TV remote, and has 3 preset positions to move the TV into. It will even go back to flush with the wall when you turn the set off and return to the same position it was in when you turn it back on.

Samsung is top of the line. Fantastic HD picture. This is repetitive, but broadcast tv (cable/sattelite) only transmits HD in 720p & 1080i. Unless you are a gamer or have to have a blueray/hd-dvd, purchasing a 1080p is useless. I fretted about purchasing a 720P, but the money saved ($500) was used to purchase surround sound speaker and receivers.
You will have no regrets purchasing this.
Tearing Problem.......2007-10-03
TV had a line across the bottom during playback of certain DVD's. From AVS forum research, others experienced this same "tearing" problem. Samsung offered to send a Firmware fix on a usb thumb drive for the tearing. There were also contrast issues related to latency or "gray scale persistence" when an bright image moved on a dark screen....so I decided to return the unit. I purchased directly from Amazon. Amazon was great in offering a full refund. I have other Samsung products and am generally pleased with Samsung. This product is an exception.
Awsom LCD.......2007-09-04
I bought this item from Amazon. The HD TV tunner and all inputs are great. I also bought a Samsung 720P & 1080i DVD player. For this TV it is the perfect match. Both the HD TV and DVDs at 720p & 1080i look crystal clear. The packaging on the TV was also great. I had a serious problem with a 42" Toshiba that had a cracked LCD (shipping) because of bad packaging from Toshiba (it seems). I realy like the ease of use of the remote control on the Samsung 46". In the near future when the bluray war has ended I will upgrade to an 1080P TV.

The picture quality is Amazing on the LN-T4642H in HD. I am glad I only purchase the 720P and saved some money. Everything is displayed in 1080i anyway and I can't see the picture getting and crisper then it is. Great price for such a great brand. strongly recommend this LCD TV.

This is a great HDTV. Very clear picture. I also own a very good LCD tv that I am pleased with but you can't beat this Samsung DLP for the price and screen size. Audio needs some help but then they all do.
started smoking, burning after only 3 months!.......2007-09-11
I have only had my TV 3 months and Best Buy has already done 2 repairs on it- once for a new bulb and the other day had the whole "engine" replaced. Not sure what that means but they told me basically I had a whole new tv now. That was on Saturday. Well, on Monday (tonight) I watched it for about 1 hour when I smelled something burning, heard a hissing noise, and then smoke came pouring out the back of it. Thank god I was home so that it didnt catch my house on fire. Best Buy is going to replace it; we'll see how it does then. By the way, for the short time that it DID work, it had a great picture but narrow viewing angle.

regular picture (not high def) was not good - especially during the day.
high def was decent but only at night
the contrast ratio is only 2500:1 not giving you deep enough contrast during the daytime
the screen is also plastic and does not seem to give you a clear picture
could be good for gaming, but i returned the tv and never got to use it for that purpose.
Wonderful TV.......2007-08-26
I bought this Samsung HLT 4675S TV about a month and a half ago. This TV has exceeded my expectations. It has beautiful picture quality, the on-screen user guide is easy to use. The Audio/Video, HDMI and PC inputs in the back of the TV are very easy to use. The TV is very very light weight, enabling for easy installation and adding components without having to unhook everything.
Watching HD DVD movies and HD channels are wonderful in this TV. I can't wait for the NFL season to start so that i can watch NFL games in HD.
Pros: Beautiful picture quality especially for HD channels.
Can't beat the price from Amazon. Excellent customer service.
Ease of use of on-screen guide.
TV is very lightweight.
Cons:Factory preset brightness, contrast and color are not set well. Will take time to adjust then to your personal liking.
Sound lag is noticeable when using sorround sound with a receiver
Overall:
If you are looking for a HDTV for a reasonable price, THIS IS YOUR TV.
You can't go wrong with Samsung. Get as much HD channels from your cable or satellite provider, and you will be amazed with the picture quality.

I bought this TV after seeing a friend's 42" Samsung. Samsung is one of the most well-known manufacturers of DLP TVs and that was what made me look at these in the first place. In the interest of writing a short review I'm going to do a quick pro/con/conclusion:
Pros
- Very bright picture
- Great color depth
- No pixel spacing like in LCDs
- LOTS of inputs (and input names are customizable in the menu interface)
- Very light (as in pounds)
- SlimDepth
- Great for gaming (14,400rpm color wheel eliminates image ghosting and artifacts)
- Native HD resolution
Cons
- Not a very wide viewing angle, make sure your couches are within 30 degrees left or right of center or the picture will fade just a bit
- Only 720p
- Control buttons on the side of the TV make it hard sometimes to see what button you're pushing without using the remote
Conclusion
Despite the cons listed (which are really nothing, I'm just a picky tech geek) this is a great TV. Samsung DLPs are high quality, look great, and will last a long time. 720p HDTV is amazing to look at regardless if I put it in pro or con. If you purchase this TV I guarantee you will like what you get. I am very happy with my purchase.
