5 out of 5 stars ROCK SOLID.......2007-12-24

This case will protect your psp very well i have had it since day one and one year later my psp has very few scratches on it and those are from me opening it up to put a game in and dropping it. It is also nice because you can recharge it in the case when it is closed and it doesn't add too much extra weight or room. If you want to protect your psp i highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome.......2007-12-15

I love this product! It works for every purpose I need it for. I compared this product with my buddy's generic case. This one is a whole lot better, by far.

5 out of 5 stars Saved my new psp 2000.......2007-12-09

I have the new psp 2000. The fit is not as snug as the older psp, but it still protects none the less.

I dropped it from about 3 feet, in the cold, down 3 concrete steps. The case did it's job, both survived. The case did pop open and the psp did come out, but it dampened the impact greatly. Buy this case you will not be disappointed.

4 out of 5 stars Not for PSP Slim & Light (PSP-2000).......2007-12-05

The ordering process and delivery was as smooth as possible (thanks, Amazon.com), but this product is not designed for the new PSP Slim & Light (PSP-2000), which is what I have. I wish the product description made that clear. The new PSP sits loose in the case, and the earphone socket is covered by the case while the unit is inside the case. Luckily, Amazon.com took it back, no hassle, and even paid for the return shipping. Can't beat the service.

I had to rate it in order to leave this review, so I'm giving it four stars. It looks like a superbly made and sturdy product, and enough people seem to be happy with it.

1 out of 5 stars garbage.......2007-12-01

Bought this and took it back almost immediately. Found that my right hand kept scraping against one of the corner edges that formed the opening for the jack on that side. My PSP didn't fit very snugly inside either.

BRAVIA Engine Full Digital Video Processor
BRAVIA S-Series LCD televisions use Sony's BRAVIA Engine full digital video processor for crisp and clear images. Several special picture enhancement technologies are integrated into the processor to create better gradations with more detail, enhance contrast, and dynamically improve color performance. > Digital Noise Reduction Circuits: Reduces block noise and mosquito noise by using pixel-level filtering to reproduce a clean and clear picture. And Motion Vector Noise Reduction reduces just the noise in the video signal for video further reducing unwanted noise and blur artifacts. Digital Contrast Enhancer circuit: Improves contrast by enhancing all areas from dark to bright in parallel with texture control providing a three dimensional picture. > Color Reality signal processing enables the expression of all the colors of life in vivid detail for dark and bright scenes. Details in dark areas of the picture are there, just like they are supposed to be.

Live Color Creation (featuring WCG-CCFL)
Live Color Creation is a special Sony function that achieves precise, wide color reproduction using a combination of advanced chroma signal processing algorithms. A special wide color gamut backlight (WCG-CCFL) is coupled with Sony's Live Color Creation circuitry. The benefit is clear blues, natural greens and overall vibrant colors in all scenes.

Xross Media Bar (XMB) On-Screen Menu System
Xross Media Bar is Sony's Emmy Award2 winning on-screen navigation that provides quick access to various set up functions and features. For instance selecting different types of media is made fun and easy by scrolling horizontally across icons until you find the type of media you are looking for. After selecting the media type, a list of its content appears as vertical thumbnails. Key set up menus and features work the same way. The main benefit of the XMB is that users can navigate through on-screen menus without taking their eyes off of their TV.

DMe Compatibility
DMex compatibility allows the connection and operation of a whole new category of products that is being developed by Sony (sold separately). The first of these products is the optional BRAVIA Internet Video Link module.

BRAVIA Theatre Sync
BRAVIA Theatre Sync reduces the hassle and time consuming job of powering up, changing the signal routing, and adjusting other functions to the simple push of one button. All you need to do is to connect BRAVIA Theatre Sync capable products to each other via one HDMI cable. The rest is easy. For instance, the One Push Play function activates by touching the play button on the remote and BRAVIA Theatre Sync takes over from there. The BRAVIA Home Theatre System and TV turn on. The DVD input on the BRAVIA Theatre system and TV activates. The TV mutes. And finally the DVD plays. There are two other BRAVIA Theatre Sync functions - One-Push Theatre Settings, which provides optimal picture and sound settings for movies and One-Push System Shut Down for turning off the entire home entertainment system.

BRAVIA Internet Video Link
The first DMex product to be introduced to the market is the DMX-NV1 BRAVIA Internet Video Link module (sold separately). BIVL, as it is affectionately called, can stream available Internet video from select content providers directly to your TV with a broadband connection3 without the need for a PC.

S-Force Front Surround
S-Force Front Surround is a virtual surround sound experience made possible using just two front speakers in select BRAVIA models. To accomplish this, Sony spent several years studying how our ears work. By understanding exactly how we recognize the origin, direction, volume and timing differences in sound right and left ear, Sony was able to create complex audio processing that delivers dynamic virtual surround sound without the need to bounce sound off walls and back to the listener.

HDMI and PC Connectivity
Designed for maximum versatility, Sony's BRAVIA S-Series Digital LCD TV line is equipped with a comprehensive range of input interfaces. The HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the first industry-supported, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface. HDMI technology supports enhanced or High Definition video, together with multi-channel digital audio to provide matchless image and sound reproduction. The HDMI and PC inputs (HD-15-pin) offer easy connection to your PC, allowing you to use your high resolution BRAVIA S-Series Digital TV as a computer monitor.

Light Sensor-2
Intelligently adjusts the screen brightness to match the ambient light in a room, ensuring a comfortable viewing experience. In a dim room for example the screen automatically reduces brightness making it much more comfortable for viewing.
Freeze Function
Sony's Freeze Function is a useful function that allows you to temporarily freeze the picture in a separate screen while the programming continues to display. This comes in handy when you want to copy a recipe, phone number, etc. that flashes too quickly across your screen. Simply touch the "Freeze" button on the remote control and copy the details down at your convenience.

5 out of 5 stars Greatest Home Office TV.......2007-12-24

First, I cannot say enough good things about how easy it was to order this TV, and to set it up. I basically took it out of the box, hooked up the cable, plugged it in, and told it to go search for channels. It was fantastic. I even decided NOT to rent a cable box, figuring when I want to watch HBO and SHO, I can go to the living room and send the guys back here to watch a football game! The picture is so much clearer and crisp than any TV I have ever owned. The sound is great. What a great buy. Delivery took about 5 days, and was worth the wait. Great job, Sony and Amazon.

5 out of 5 stars Very pleased.......2007-12-21

I am very pleased with this product. The picture is excellent. It was easy to set up and use. Shipping was on time. Good value for the price.

5 out of 5 stars Don't hesitate, get this TV.......2007-12-19

I couldn't be happier. I and my PS3 are very happy with this HDTV. Before I decide to buy this TV, I was thinking in buying a cheap 32" 720p, but after reading in some forums and reviews that you really should go for a better TV and not for the price, they are right, this TV has 8000:1 contrast ratio compared to 850 to 1000 on cheap models and also with this set you can rely on Sony, an well known brand. My sister bought a Westinghouse 32" 720p back in October and now 2 months later the TV keep turning off by itself very often, so go with Sony. I still have analog cable, so I was doing a search for channels and besides my 71 channels from Comcast, this TV also found 52 digital hidden channels that my other TV couldn't get it, inclusive some HD channels, like on my area Discovery is 44 and TLC is 45, but between Discovery and TLC there were 3 more channels like 44.1, 44.3 & 44.4, this was awesome, and one of the HD channels is ABC, now I'll be able to watch Lost in HD. YEAH.

Also I would like to thank for all of these reviews, they were realy helpfull. I did order this TV last week from circuit city, was on sale for $850 and only $10 3 day-shipping, but now this week the TV is on regular price for $1,100, so amazon has the best deal now.

5 out of 5 stars Sony products - never disappoint me!.......2007-12-18

Thanks for all the previous reviews, I chose this TV and without any hesitation I want to give it 5 stars. Sony products have never disppointed me, nor did this one. I strongly recommend it for a mid-size bedroom. You will be thrilled with its beautiful pictures!

5 out of 5 stars Without a doubt, best 32" LCD money can buy!!.......2007-12-15

"You get what you paid for" is a common saying these days, especially with electronics, and when it's about TVs, it speaks the truth. I've had two prior HDTVs before settling down with this Sony BRAVIA KDL-32S3000, a Vizio and a Sharp. Granted they provide a nice HD picture, it just seemed they could be better. I bought this Sony from all the reviews I've read, and from the fact that I constantly look at it when I go to a major electronics store, comparing it between other companies and other Sony TVs as well.
Once I got it home, properly calibrated it, the picture quality was stunning to say the least. The colors really do pop on this TV set, more so than the other TVs that I have own. Contrast ratio really does make a difference when it comes to LCD TVs, and I'm not talking about that Dynamic contrast ratio with crazy numbers like 7000:1 to 15,000:1, I'm talking about the "true" on-screen contrast ratio. This 32S3000 Sony provides up to 1600:1 on-screen contrast ratio, which for an LCD is very good. The other two TVs I owned had 1000:1 and 1200:1, and yes I can notice the difference.
Typical of any big name company, Sony in this case, TV build quality is top notch. Built like a tank, this TV speaks quality. I like especially the matte black look bordering the TV, as I'm not a fan on the piano black trim some TVs have. No worries of backlight bleeding or hot spots on the LCD screen, everything is uniformity, much improvement over Sony's last generation of BRAVIA sets.
2 HDMI inputs, 2 Component inputs...all which that can accept a 1080p signal. Now this is not a 1080p TV, but it can accept the signal and down converts it to 720p, or the 1366x768 native resolution. This is cool, as I can send a 1080p signal from Playstation 3 and it will accept it with no problem.
HD content is quite amazing, from cable to Blu-ray movies, they all look good on this Sony set. You will be amazed.
Simply put, if your even thinking of getting this TV, do it! You will not be disappointed.

The XBR series delivers beautful visuals while incorporating all of Sony's latest technologies.
View more details.
Top-Notch Video Performance
The XBR KDL-32XBR4 is a 720p television with a display resolution of 1366 x 768 resolution for a sharp HD picture. The KDL-32XBR4 uses the HDMI connection, which houses both audio and video signals in one connector and has the bandwidth to support the data necessary for the high resolution. Sony's Bravia Engine Video Processing System converts all video signals to 720p, so you can watch all your old DVDs on this glorious display.

Sony complements the high resolution with the latest technology in color reproduction. The KDL-32XBR is a 10-bit display with 10-bit processing. Most panels are only 8-bit. The added bit depth here means a larger color palette for more faithful color reproduction and smoother transitions from one color to the next. Additionally, the display features a special WCG-CCFL backlight that, combined with Sony's Live Color Creation system, achieves more natural and vibrant color.

The KDL-32XBR4 features Sony's Motionflow technology, which automatically adjusts for and applies the proper processing for optimal motion reproduction depending on the video input. This includes support for 24 frames per second (24p) video, which displays video content at the 24-frames-per-second rate at which it was originally filmed or recorded. With 24p, you get the most faithful possible reproduction of the original.

A Wide Variety of Inputs
This Sony television's wide variety of inputs ensures compatibility with your other home theater components. There are three HDMI connections for Blu-Ray, HD DVD, and other technologies requiring the high bandwidth, and two component video inputs, three composite video inputs, one S-Video input, one PC Audio and Video input, two RF connection inputs, and five analog audio inputs. Even with a collection of legacy components, you shouldn't have a problem connecting to the KDL-32XBR4.

Stunning Looks
The KDL-32XBR4 not only displays stunning video but is itself a head-turner. It features Sony's unique floating glass frame along with a black bezel that can be interchanged with optional color bezels to match the display to your decor.

Outstanding Ergonomics and Simplicity of Control
Sony's Xross Media Bar interface is an award-winning, intuitive on-screen display that makes setup a breeze, with menus and controls logically laid out for quick access. The KDL-32XBR4 also features Theatre Sync technology, based on the HDMI-CEC standard, which means you can easily connect to and control compatible devices. For example, when the KDL-32XBR4 is connected to a compatible DVD player, you can turn on both the DVD player and the television and start playing a DVD with a single push of a button on the remote. When you're done, another push of a button powers everything down. With Theatre Sync, you can spend time enjoying the movie rather than waste time setting everything up.

Cutting Edge Sound
Using a set of Sony algorithms, the KDL-32XBR4 is capable of generating realistic surround sound from just the two speakers in the TV. With Sony's S-Force Front Surround technology, you can have surround sound no matter the shape or size of your room.

The KDL-32XBR4 is backed by a 1-year limited warranty for parts and labor.

5 out of 5 stars my buying experience.......2007-12-24

i was reluctant to purchase a tv online without seeing the product first and it was an open box item, but i am totally satisfied with the tv and the price was half of what it would have cost me at a major retail chain. the delivery time was three days, very prompt and efficient.

5 out of 5 stars Bravia LCD by Sony.......2007-12-12

I had researched TVs a good bit before ordering the Sony Bravia 32inch LCD HD set. I had several visits to stores in my area to look at competitors. I just thought this one was the best overall. My son and son-in-law both were amazed at the clarity of the images. I had to say goodby to my old Sony trinitron bought in 1996. It just isn't up to the signals available today. It was however still working, and had never been to a repair shop. I was pleased with the prompt delivery and pricing I recieved from Amazon.

5 out of 5 stars Best LCD TV by far.......2007-12-07

Prior to buying this model, I looked at many 32" LCD TVs. While I found many to look good, the Sony XBR had the best picture of the lot.
I am now using it with satelitte HD and loving it. The picture is brilliant and wows anybody who comes to visit.

I have not found any pixelation with fast moving scenes - a problem I have with my 42" Sony LCD rear projection TV. That problem is solved with this model.

This unit is well worth the extra dollars.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Good compromise entry level LCD television.......2007-11-28

It's my first LCD television. We looked at lots of them before deciding on this one. Ultimately, the Sony brand got us, due to our perceptions of long term reliability.

On the good side:
Pretty decent sound - it's amazing how tinny many 23" to 32" LCD televisions sound...far worse than the built-in sound of the entry-level RCA 17" CRT television this one is replacing. The only 32" we found with fuller sound was a Toshiba. Most were worse. Still, it's only two-star sound, but this is good for a 32" TV.

Very nice I/O complement. The only thing it's missing is USB ports, but those are hard to find in ANY 32" LCD. The included audio output connections would allow you to connect, for instance, a small 3-piece computer speaker system, which would be a HUGE improvement in sound.

Exceptionally wide viewing angle - if you can see the screen at all, the picture is as good as straight in front of it.

VERY easy to set up. I've helped other people set up their LCD TVs and none were as easy as this one.

Acoustically quiet. Some LCD TVs have a faint buzzing sound when powered up...not this one.

On the not-so-good side:
It stinks. Literally. For some reason, Sony plastics exude a very strong odor of processing chemicals. We found it necessary to put the thing in our garage for the first few months, just to avoid stinking up the house!

The picture, typical of Sony TVs is not very natural. It's over-bright and garish; you can tame this to some degree with the video settings. If you watch a lot of cartoons or movies with CGI, maybe you'll actually appreciate the excessive colors - particularly red.

Blossoming reds - we noticed that there's never any particularly good definition in red objects. However, in comparison to other TVs at the stores we visited, the focus and detail in other colors was superior.

When playing back non-HD material, particularly if using the S-VIDEO connector, there seems to be a higher than normal level of ghosting and graininess...more so than we noticed on our old TV. Maybe this is normal when you're moving up to a double-sized TV.

Price. At $800, it's not a bargain. But if you have faith in Sony quality, the price isn't bad.

5 out of 5 stars Good looks, great picture, Sony reliability!.......2007-10-03

I am very happy with this purchase. The TV has very good looks, sleek and discreet. The equivalent Samsung and Sharp had frames too shiny and looked cheap. The picture is great. SD cable looks very good. Audio is very good. Best of all is Sony reliability. My previous experience was the Samsung 30" SlimFit. That had bending issues at first and was replaced. Then it refused to turn on, and customer service was rude and unhelpful. The Slimfit has major reliability problems. I am very happy with this Sony that replaced it.

Adding to this review after 2 weeks of extensive use. I compared this TV to Sony's 37" KDF-37H1000 LCD projection TV. This 32" LCD TV won out because:
1. Sharper picture on HD signal - the KDF-37H1000 is a little more blurry. (Note the KDF-37H1000 picture is better than no-name brand LCDs). The Sony LCDs had better focus.
1a. LCD TVs have a brighter picture. The Sony TVs have 3 picture settings: i) Vivid (very bright, what you see in Best Buy, ii) Standard (less bright, what looks better at home), and iii) Cinema (softer, more reds and earth shades). On the KDF-37H1000, you have to set it to vivid to watch even at home. On LCDs, you have to reduce brightness becuase they're brighter pictures.
2. SD cable on LCD TV is much much better than on KDF-37H1000.
2a. Motion was much cleaner on the LCD TVs. Sports blurred on the KDF-37H1000. I watched a bit of "8 below" Disney's Alaskan adventure with lots of white dogs and snow, and it looked bad, blurry and soft on the KDF-37H1000.
3. LCD TV has much less depth. Looks sleeker. I also tapped my fingers and felt around the frames on the 2 TVs. The LCDs were firmer and fit better. The KDF-37H1000 frame was looser and cheaper materials like a toy.
4. Maintainence costs - the KDF-37H1000 will require $200-400 bulb replacement in 1.5 years. The sales people said this could even happen in less than a year due to bulb malfunctions, just like in a floor lamp or any lamp. Note, Sony is phasing out LCD projection TVs in favor of SXRD, Hence, parts for the KDF-37H1000 will become harder to find. The KDF-37H1000 lamps are already $400 (Sony parts are always costlier - look at their digital camera memories, compared to Canon's).
4a. The complex combination of chips, mirrors, projectors, lamps on a projection TV is more prone to break than the simpler LCD technology. I am an electrical engineer and design integrated circuits for a living.
5. The KDF-37H1000 generates more heat than LCD, but much less than plasma.
6. The KDF-37H1000 has moving parts, such as the cooling fan, etc., All of these are more prone to malfunction.
7. Consumer reports rates the LCD TV reliability higher than projection TVs after looking at consumer repair data. Projection TVs had higher rates of return and repair.
7a. The folks at Best Buy told me they saw higher rates of returns due to reliability on the KDF-37H1000 than on Sony's LCDs.
8. The LCD TV has higher pixel count 1368 X 768, compared to the KDF-37H1000's 1200 X 720. This leads to sharper picture and better focus.
9. Screen door effect on KDF-37H1000. When objects on screen moved, their individual pixels did not move as a group. The picture was constantly dissolving and reforming. Faces had spots that appeared and dissappeared.
10. 2-3 years from now, I can put the LCD TV on a dresser in my bedroom as a 2nd TV, or put it in my study as a computer monitor. Cannot do this with the KDF-37H1000.
11. Moving - when we move houses, the LCD TV will ride easily in the seat in my Honda Civic. Cannot do this with the KDF-37H1000, which will have to go in the back of the truck with my wife.

The KDF-37H1000 was better than the Sony LCD TV in terms of:
1. Sound was much better becuase larger speakers and probably more pwerful amp.
2. A few more features and options that I will not use.
3. Larger screen. However, you must sit further back to avoid seeing spots and motion blurs.

Note the KDF-37H1000 is an excellent TV and very reliable compared to no-name brands. Definitely more reliable than the Samsung Slimfit TVs. We just came out of a bruising warranty battle with Samsung, and their reliability and customer service is pretty bad. The KDF-37H1000 does look very good compared to Samsung or Westinghouse LCD TVs, which had cheap and shiny frames. However, the KDF-37H1000 is just not as good as Sony's 32" LCD TVs. If you want a bigger screen than Sony's LCDs, go 46" or 55" projection. The SXRD projection TVs had better motion. If you're thinking of 37", get an LCD.

One thing the KDF-37H1000 has going for it is Sony reliability. I work for IBM and we design integrated circuits for Sony's products. They require a 100 defective parts per million quality level from us. This is very good in the industry.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Value - And it is a Sony!.......2007-09-03

We could not be more pleased with this 32 Sony LCD HDTV. It is bright and easy to setup and use. It has plenty of inputs for HDMI, component, PC, etc.

If you are thinking of buying an "off-brand" TV and then getting an extended warranty, for the same money you can get the quality and beauty of Sony.

Enjoy!

Amazon.com Product Description

Featuring cutting-edge flash memory, the black Sony VAIO VGN-UX390N Micro PC is an ultra-portable, full-functioning PC small enough to fit in your pocket. Taking the PC to the next level, the UX390N stores data on 32 GB of solid state flash memory, instead of a traditional spinning disc drive. Weighing just over a pound and measuring 5.9 by 3.75 inches, it easily fits in the palm of your hand. The UX390N features a 4.5-inch widescreen SVGA screen that ingeniously slides up to expose an integrated keyboard. The pocket-sized UX390N comes equipped with a stylus and Sony's VAIO touch launcher for quick access to functions frequently used such as Internet access, e-mail, various computer applications, games and music. Just push the launcher button located on the side of the unit.

It's powered by Windows Vista Business and Intel's groundbreaking Core Solo processor with ultra-low voltage for extended battery life. Advanced wireless capabilities are built right in--including tri-mode Wi-Fi, WWAN, WLAN, and Bluetooth--and expansion is a breeze with the included port replicator. It even includes two built-in cameras--one on the front (0.3 megapixels) for VoIP tele/videoconferencing and the other (1.3 megapixels) on the back for taking snapshots. Other technical features include a 1 GB of RAM, a Memory Stick slot, and a full complement of pre-installed software (from Internet security to Microsoft Works). For added convenience, a docking station with three 2.0 USB ports, Ethernet, VGA, iLink (FireWire/IEEE-1394) interface and an AV output comes with the unit, making it easy to connect to peripherals like a full-sized keyboard, display and speakers when back in the office or at home.

Advanced Wireless Mobility
The UX390N features Sony's SmartWi technology, which seamlessly integrates wireless Wide Area Network (WAN), 802.11a/b/g wireless LAN and Bluetooth technologies, enabling you to toggle among your wireless connectivity options depending on your surroundings. The tri-mode wireless LAN is compatible with 802.11b/g networks (commonly found in home routers and wi-fi hotspots) as well as 802.11a networks (which has a higher throughput, but more limited range--great for closed office environments). The integrated wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN) technology lets you access the Cingular Wireless EDGE network to extend your wireless coverage beyond LAN access networks and hotspots (a Cingular SIM card is included; see more about WWANs below). And with the Bluetooth wireless connectivity, you can synchronize and transfer files between the PC and peripherals such as cell phones and PDAs.

Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN)
If you're the ultimate road warrior, you need to access the Internet and check e-mail without having to plug in your Sony Vaio notebook PC, and without cables to boot. Welcome to the world of WWANs (wireless wide area networks). With WWANs, you can access critical network resources and home office files from the front seat of your car, the airport, the local coffee shop, or your recliner at home. Sony Vaio computers use SmartWi technology to access the Cingular Wireless national EDGE (Enhanced Data for Global Evolution) network.

A WWAN uses long-range wireless connections -- the same networks as cellular phones -- to provide access across a large geographic area. In comparison, a WLAN (wireless LAN) covers only one or more buildings located close together. The use of wireless connectivity on a WLAN is simply an alternative to the PSTN (public switched telephone network), which you may have used -- or still use -- to dial into your ISP (Internet service provider) or reach your company's network. On a WWAN, however, you use wireless connectivity to reach your carrier's data network instead of plugging into a phone jack and dialing into your ISP. Each mobile device communicates with the public carrier's base station, providing coverage across entire states, regions, and countries via cell phone towers.

Security & Safety Features
Sony's line of Vaio UX micro-PCs take security seriously, employing a biometric fingerprint sensor and proprietary hard disk drive protection software to ensure your data is protected from unauthorized use as well as accidental damage. Fingerprint biometrics is a convenient and secure way to protect your computer and the information on it with a simple swipe of your finger. It also stores passwords to secure web sites you visit, so authentication and access are quick and easy--you only need your fingerprint.

The Basics

Screen, Video & Audio
The UX390N's wide, touchscreen 4.5-inch XBRITE LCD has a 1024 x 600-pixel resolution (SVGA) and includes control buttons for zooming, scrolling, and a stick pointer, as well as the ability to view in either landscape or portrait orientations. The high brightness level of an XBRITE display means that black tones appear richer and deeper while white tones remain brighter. Graphics and text display clearly and colors appear more lifelike. This Micro PC includes a built-in monaural speaker and is compatible with the Windows sound system. Video and graphics are powered by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, which uses Intel Dynamic Video Memory Technology (DVMT) and provides up to 224 MB of shared video memory.

Networking, Connectivity & Expansion
The UX390N has a single USB 2.0 port, headphone and microphone jacks, Memory Stick slot (compatible with Memory Stick DUO and MagicGate functionality), and a port replicator connection. The included port replicator offers three USB 2.0, FireWire, VGA out, composite A/V out, and Ethernet (10Base-T/100Base-TX) connections.

Operating System
The Windows Vista Business operating system is designed to meet the needs of business organizations of all sizes. For small businesses, Windows Vista Business will help keep PCs running smoothly and more securely so you will be less reliant on dedicated IT support. For larger organizations, Windows Vista Business provides dramatic new infrastructure improvements, enabling your IT staff to spend less time focused on the day-to-day maintenance of PCs. An array of sophisticated new backup technologies helps protect your information even in the event of a catastrophic hardware failure. And Windows Vista Business has a new user interface, named Windows Aero, which is designed to deliver new levels of efficiency for any business user. This new interface makes it easy to navigate through the operating system and from application to application. For instance, Windows Aero helps you juggle multiple tasks at once by providing a three-dimensional, real-time, animated view of all your open applications and documents.

Every edition of Windows Vista provides the essential tools and technologies to help protect you whether you are browsing the Internet, connecting to a wireless network, or just reading e-mail. All editions of Windows Vista include new tools that can warn you of impending hardware failures long before you have lost any important personal data. And, all Windows Vista editions include parental control features that allow you to manage and monitor your family's use of games, the Internet, instant messaging, and other activities.

Preloaded Software
Includes Microsoft Works, Microsoft Office 2007 Student and Teacher Edition (60-day trial), Symantec Norton Internet Security 2007 (with 60 days of Live Update).

Dimensions and Weight
Amazingly small, the UX390N measures 5.9 x 3.75 x 1.5 inches (WxHxD) and weighs just 1.2 pounds with the included standard battery.

Power
It comes with the standard VGP-BPS6 standard capacity lithium ion battery, which provides between 2.5 and 4.5 hours of power (depending on usage). The optional large capacity VGP-BPL6 battery can power the UX390N for up to 9 hours.

What's in the Box
This package contains the VGN-UX390N, detachable stand, stylus, lithium-ion rechargeable battery, AC adapter and power cord, port replicator, Cingular SIM card, soft carrying case, and VGA/LAN adapter. Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars I really wanted to like this..........2007-12-17

The screen is very hard to read, especially if you have the presbyopia problem that people usually get after they are 40 years old (this is difficulty in seeing small things up close).

There is a Zoom in/out, but it is useless because one cannot enter data when it is in use.

A scroll wheel would have been nice to view things when not using a mouse (the thumbpad mouse that comes with it, is kind of awkward to use (controlling the mouse pointer is hard).

Cnet review said to lower the resolution to read it easier, but many apps do not work with a lower resolution. In addition, even at high resolution, some apps have popup screens that are off the edge of the screen & you can't scroll to it (ie: lets say you are adjusting preferences in Internet Explorer - or any program - the little popup window that comes up, you can't click the OK button because its off the screen. So your pref changes don't get saved).

The keyboard keys should have been raised, not recessed. Its very hard to type on it.

A solution I've found to browse the Internet is to use the free Opera internet browser. It will adjust webpages to fit the screen, yet using a larger type.

I do use this with an external monitor & a wireless mouse & a Think Outside keyboard which works very well. However, there goes your portability.

Just really really bummed about not being able to read the screen...

5 out of 5 stars Great machine after tweaks.......2007-12-02

I've had a 380n (identical twin to the 390 but with a conventional hard disk) for about 2 months now, and am more impressed with it every week. Sony has made some major blunders with this machine, but they're fixable:

(1) The machine runs "okay" on Vista, beautifully on XP. If you're technical, rip out Vista and upgrade to XP. Sony won't help at all with the drivers, but you'll find them in a neat little package (along with a lot of friendly support) at micropctalk.com.

(2) Sony loads up the system with loads of Crapware. Uninstall it.

(3) Sony loads up the hard drive with a hidden recovery partition. If you're technical, create a backup disk (Sony says how, or buy it from Sony), then erase the hard drive and start over without the extra partition.

(4) Increase the display DPI setting to 150%. Makes everything bigger and more legible on the screen.

(5) Install "RitePen," a free and amazingly accurate stylus-to-text interpreter. Now you have a perfectly functional touchpad.

(6) Get an Igo bluetooth keyboard ($50). Now you have a fully-functional keyboard when you need to write that 20-page document.

Once again, a remarkable machine, with great potential. Go for it.

4 out of 5 stars A gem; as long as you don't need a lot of disk space.......2007-09-30

I did a lot of research before buying this computer, after it was recommended to me by our IT vendor. Thus far it has proven to be an extraordinary tool, has great connectivity and a lot of outstanding features. The display is small, but I do not find it unreadable. The keyboard is useless so get a Bluetooth add-on. Ditto the "mouse". Also, although I can use a networked optical drive I found it better to buy the Sony add-on disk drive. This works great and I recommend you buy it as well. Has an awesome amount of junk software installed. After cleaning up the "hard disk" (which isn't a disk) I only have 7GB left. Fortunately most of my storage is on our network. I don't see why they didn't just bite the bullet and put a phone in as well, then you could toss the Palm/Blackberry. Is great at detecting wireless networks. I have not found speed to be a problem, and the unit works as well as my former desktop in most applications (MS Office, etc.) that I use. I wish it had Win XP, but I'm slowly getting used to Vista. Graphics on an LCD external monitor are excellent. Most inventive use I've encountered: A missionary who saves movies to the disk and Memory Stick card and watches them on long flights to SE Asia. Summary: A cool tool; very useful in my working environment.

3 out of 5 stars Try the OQO Model O2 Instead.......2007-09-29

I have tried both and I prefer the OQO Model O2. The OQO has a much better screen, a much better mounting dock, a Wacom Digitized Screen, and it is beautiful. It was designed by the Guy who was Apple's Product Designer for years (he designed the I-Mac). The Sony keyboard is just too small for my fingers.

5 out of 5 stars Know what you want.......2007-09-05

I have read the reviews and talked to others, including my brother in law who got a free one and returned it.

Don't purchase this just because you wnat a small computer! Purchase it only if you need a small computer.

This computer offers everything I could possibly want, but only because Sony made a computer that you can carry on your belt without lowering your needs to carrying around a glorified hand held pocket PC or phone.

It is true that the screen is extremely small and fonts require me to put on my reading glasses. But how else can you put a fully functional computer into a 4.5 inch screen? It truly is as capable as Windows Vista can be on any computer that has a limited source of storage and memory.

I installed Windows 2007 Ultimate, Adobe CS2 and a library of bible software from Libronix. I still have 6 Gb of space available and purchased some Sony Duo memery cards at 4 GB each and have not yet needed them.

The computer does store a full back-up in hidden memory whivh cuts the 32 GB down quite a bit but when I did require restoring the system it came in handy.

This computer is for those who are on the go and can show presentations via Powerpoint by plugging it in at a remote work sight, connecting to meetings remotely or just wanting to read the newspaper while riding the bus to work.

As far as software, I always hate trial versions, but after installing Office 2007 I had no problem uninstalling the trial version and it went fairly quick. Why SQL Server? Well anyone who works in a professional environment knows the limitations of MS Access and will appreciate the SQL Server capability.

If you want a cute computer because it's small, then this is not for you! If you want a computer that is fully functional and able to connect to the Internet anywhere service is available, and if you are willing to work with the 4.5 inch screen as well as the two fingered keyboard, then seriously look into this model as it meets ebery expectation I had in fitting such a large package into such a tiny median.

If it was any larger I would not carry it with me every where. But I must add, even though I work in the IT field, this computer was purchased to meet personal needs, and that it does quite well if you understand the limitations Sony had to work with in making it so small.

It truly is a fully functional Windows Vista computer that will hook to you belt and every one thinks you are carrying some oversized cell phone or camera.

Just make sure you are prepared for the tiny fonts and limited screen capabilities. I had some trouble with CS2 buttons falling into an unviewable area and had to tab and guess at the function I was choosing.

It's really not meant for those who want cute, only those who want what this computer was really designed to provide...

Amazon.com Product Description

Take a load off your shoulders when you're racing for your plane with the sleekly designed and ultra-portable Sony Vaio VGN-TZ190N/B notebook PC. Weighing just 2.7 pounds, it offers a sleek, durable carbon-fiber case in charcoal black and a unique rounded hinge design. (Carbon fiber, the same material used on jets and sports cars to keep them lightweight yet sturdy, is much stronger than the magnesium used on standard notebooks.) And with 4 to 7.5 hours of standard battery life, it has the stamina to power you through your most demanding applications. It also includes a redesigned keyboard that balances a smart, sophisticated look with user-friendly touch and feel, and an 11.1-inch LCD using Sony's XBRITE-HiColor technology with an energy-saving white LED backlight for brilliant colors and added clarity.

Sony takes security serious, and this laptop employs a biometric fingerprint sensor to ensure your data is protected from unauthorized use. It also stores passwords to secure web sites you visit, so authentication and access are quick and easy--you only need your fingerprint. With the integrated wireless WAN, you can access the national Sprint Mobile Broadband service (subscription required) to extend your wireless coverage beyond LAN access networks and hotspots, giving you the freedom to go farther, do more, and stay connected. And by utilizing Flash Memory in place of the typical spinning hard-disk drive memory found in most PCs, this Vaio TZ notebook provides a rapid boot-up and quicker access to applications while significantly reducing the risk of hard drive problems.

It's powered by the 1.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo ULV (Ultra-Low Voltage) U7600 processor from the newest ""Santa Rosa"" line of chips. It offers an optimized, multithreaded architecture for improved gaming and multitasking performance as well as low power consumption for longer battery life. It includes Intel's 4965 AGN wireless LAN, which will connect to draft 802.11n routers and offers compatibility with 802.11a/b/g networks as well. Other features include a 32 GB Flash Memory hard drive, 2 GB of installed RAM (maximum capacity), Bluetooth wireless capability (for connecting to peripherals such as PDAs, cell phones, and printers), dual-layer DVD burner, Gigabit Ethernet, and a Memory Stick PRO reader. Communicate with pals all around with world via VoIP calling and video conferencing using the built-in microphone and Motion Eye camera (with zoom function).

The preinstalled Microsoft Windows Vista Business features a new user interface, named Windows Aero, that makes it easy to navigate through the operating system and from application to application. For instance, Windows Aero helps you juggle multiple tasks at once by providing a three-dimensional, real-time, animated view of all your open applications and documents. Vista also integrates new search tools throughout the operating system, includes new parental control features, and offers new tools that can warn you of impending hardware failures.

The Basics

Screen, Video & Audio
The 11.1-inch XBRITE-HiColor LCD with white LED backlight has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels--perfect for watching movies in their intended 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio. Sony's innovative backlight technology offers lower power consumption for improved battery life and provides incredibly high brightness levels, amplifying colors and creating clear, crisp pictures that truly ""pop"" off the LCD. The result: an amazing 72% color saturation for deeper blacks, brighter whites, true-to-life color and razor-sharp detail. And, with the anti-reflective coating to minimize reflection while providing a wide viewing angle, you'll enjoy a beautifully clear image from almost any angle.

Sony's Smart Display Sensor feature instantly adjusts resolution when you connect to a display or projector. Video is powered by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, which uses Intel Dynamic Video Memory Technology (DVMT) and provides up to 224 MB of total graphics memory from the system memory. Audio is powered by Sony's Sound Reality audio enhancer.

Networking, Connectivity & Expansion
Be ready for the next platform in wireless connectivity with the integrated Intel Wireless Wi-Fi Link 4965 AGN LAN chip. Based on the draft 802.11n Wi-Fi specification, it offers up to five times the performance and twice the wireless range as existing 802.11g wireless. It's also backward compatible with 802.11b/g networks (commonly found in home routers and Wi-Fi hotspots) as well as 802.11a networks (which has a higher throughput, but more limited range--great for closed office environments). This notebook also features Sony's SmartWi technology, which seamlessly integrates wireless Wide Area Network (WAN), office/home Wi-Fi LAN, and Bluetooth technologies, enabling you to toggle among your wireless connectivity options depending on your surroundings. Sprint's Mobile Broadband high-speed EV-DO service (software included, subscription requires) enables you to extend your wireless coverage beyond LAN access networks and wireless hotspots, helping you to keep connected without having to hunt for a Wi-Fi coffee shop.

With the Bluetooth connectivity, you can communicate and synchronize with Bluetooth-enabled peripherals such as PDAs and cell phones. This notebook also includes a next-generation ExpressCard 34 card slot (replacing the PCMCIA slot), which lets you take advantage of thinner, faster, and lighter expansion cards for even more advanced wireless, networking, storage, and security features. Here's the full list of connection options:

It also has an integrated 56K modem (V.90) and an RJ-45 LAN network port (for a Gigabit Ethernet connection to networks and DSL/cable modems).
