Customer Reviews:
Mine fell off the desk........2007-12-27
During set up my unit fell off the desk and it recieved a horrible scratch on the display screen. The USB cable is very short and while setting up the tension on the cable knocked it over and onto the floor where it hit a sharp corner on the desk and scratched the display screen. I already need a repair part! Other than that I am happy with mine. Watch out for the short USB cable. I use a much longer one from my computer supplies now. I should be able to call Philips and order what I need for the display.
Top Notch Picture.......2007-12-25
Gave to the wife for Xmas. She loves the bright and crisp photo display, plus the frame has some heft so it won't flop over unexpectantly. I received this a couple of weeks ago and set up 63 photos onto a 32 meg card skipping the 16 meg internal memory altogether. It took a little time to master the sequential modes of going through menus but really nothing to it when you recognized the simple
< > up, down enter button interface ( not a touch screen). My biggest disappointment was how I assumed that the frame had a back-up battery or the ability to play on it's own internal battery. ???? I had flipped between the Philips White, Wood and this one. Dispite that qlitch I kept the frame and will live with that snafu. Oh yes, original price I paid was $120, Amazon dropped the price in early Dec to $99 and promptly credited my Visa for the difference.
A beautiful disappointment..........2007-12-23
I did extensive research before buying this as a gift for my 90 year old mother. What appealed to me about this vs much less expensive frames was: easy operation, high resolution, and a built-in battery so you could unplug it and carry it around to share pictures.
The images really are beautiful. But the product no longer comes with a built-in battery (Amazon has removed the mention from its website since I purchased though it's still in Philips' own product sheet). And the interface, though simple (just a few buttons) is by no means intuitive. I'm used to technical things yet it took me quite a while to figure out how to navigate the many menus in order to do the simple task of loading in a few pictures and getting rid of the annoying default slide show effects (which are way too intrusive and distracting) and big clock in the corner of the screen.
Unfortunately, as soon as you unplug it the defaults return... it's obvious the software has not been updated since the battery was removed from the product specs. It's a beautiful disappointment and, were it not 2 days before Christmas as I'm discovering all of this, I'd return it for a more basic model and use the savings for a couple of memory cards.
I love this!.......2007-12-20
I absolutely love this digital photo frame. Great resolution and color. My husband bought this for me for Christmas 2006. I set it up in our kitchen on the counter. About 3 weeks ago, the digital frame died. I freaked out. I called Amazon. They practically laughed and I'm sure the CS Rep that I was a crazy woman, so I called Phillips and they immediately sent me a replacement and a pre-paid shipping label for the dead frame. I couldn't believe they did this since I had the frame for 11 months! What great customer service.
This year I bought 3 of these frames for gifts.
Very pleased with this digital frame.......2007-12-18
This is my very first experience with any digital frame, and thanks to so many that reviewed this product, I purchased two as gifts. It was a tad tricky to get the settings like I wanted, but that was just a learning curve on using the buttons; once I had it figured out, it was a breeze. The frame looks nice, heavy and feels like it's build to last...the quality of the pictures is way better than I'd expected, so I was very pleased. It didn't take much time at all to load, and while it does have some internal memory, it pays to buy an external memory card and just load it up with tons of photos. Anyone you're doing this for will love it, and I was so thrilled I was hoping to order myself one today, but I see they're out of stock!
Highly recommended, especially for the price...

Faster flash photos than Nikon D40X.......2007-12-27
If you are looking for a camera to take a lot of indoor photos with flash (of your young children like we do), the Canon is much faster with flash photos than the Nikon. My mother-in-law has the older, 7 megapixel Canon, which takes awesome photos. We went to the store to get the newer Canon, but ended up taking home the Nikon since we were told the menus were easier, the glass of the standard lenses was better, and it came with more free stuff. We compared it to mother-in-law's camera over the holiday, and the Canon was much faster. We have since exchange our Nikon for the Canon XTI, and see a huge difference in the speed you can take flash photos. Luckily, we did this in time for the photos of Santa's gifts on Christmas morning. :)
Excellent camera, especially for the price.......2007-12-27
The Rebel XTi is Canon's prosumer/semi-pro DSLR, but it takes absolutely fantastic photos. Your investment in lenses is protected because you can mount any of the EF or EF-S series lenses on the XTi. If you decide to upgrade to another Canon model then your lens collection can go with you.
The Rebel is very pleasant to hold (I have large hands); it feels sturdy and well built. It weighs very little; hand-holding is very easy and comfortable.
Boasting a plethora of configuration options including a mirror-up mode for macro shots, the Rebel produces extremely noise-free images all the way through ISO400. ISO800 is entirely usable, but exhibits some noise. Image quality is excellent; the large resolution means that you can crop your photos and still get 8x10 prints.
Like all DSLRs, the XTi allows you to work directly with RAW files. If you prefer, you can shoot in JPEG+RAW or just JPEG. RAW files are about 10MB, so make sure to get a large memory card. I can fit about 760 RAW shots on an 8GB card. The camera makes intelligent decisions in its automatic or semi-automatic modes. That said, my best shots have all been in aperture priority or full automatic mode.
As a first foray into DSLR photography, this is an excellent buy. Don't get it just for megapixels or to say you have a DSLR. I used a Canon S3 IS for years with excellent results. By no means do you need a DSLR to get high-quality images or flexibility. Better image processing and interchangeable lenses are what set DSLRs apart from even prosumer point and shoots. Speaking of lenses, I don't recommend the kit lens; instead you might look into the 28-105mm lens or the 17-55mm IS lens - both from Canon.
Worth the price.......2007-12-26
This is my first DSLR camera. I bought this to learn photography. I would say that this camera is worth for the price. I would suggest to buy just the camera body and go for a better lens. This camera has decent enough features for a DSLR. This does not have the live preview option though.
Best DSLR Camera.......2007-12-23
I am more than 100% satisified with this camera. I knew about the features well before I purchased, so no regrets. I would refer and prefer this camera to all those SLR lovers.
Great value and still so versatile!.......2007-12-23
Canon has thought out this camera well and put a good
collection of useful features from its higher end DSLRs in this
model. Consequently, this camera has all the features that would keep
a budding photographer fulfilled for quite some time. In addition, the
great price allows you to spend more on good quality lenses, bounce
flash, and other accessories.
The useful features:
- Excellent picture taking: low noise sensor, ISO 1600 is quite usable. Fast
startup: camera is ready to shoot almost instantly at the press of
the shutter. Fast drive: 3 frames per second. With an Extreme III CF
card, one can shoot 27 shots before the camera becomes busy.
- Great user interface: One key access to white balance, ISO,
auto-focus modes, metering, drive, and AF points. These are all so nicely
laid out in the back of the camera. The grip is fine but could be a
bit more rounded. Light and compact.
- Ability to separate focus and exposure buttons with CF4 custom
function. This feature is poorly explained in the manual, but when
used with AI Servo AF, it makes the camera do less work and helps
you take great pictures. I also use custom white balance a lot. RGB
histogram, overblown pixel highlights, mirror lockup to prevent
camera shake are other useful functions.
The body is one quarter or even one-fifth of the picture taking
apparatus. The second quarter is a good lens (spend as much on a lens
as you will on the body), and half is your own dedication and skills
in photography. Invest in a bounce flash like speedlite 430ex or you
will be stuck taking pictures at home at ISO 1600. Buy some
photography books like Understanding Exposure.
Happy picture taking with this excellent body!

low end, but great SLR.......2007-12-24
This camera doesn't come with a memory card... I guess I didn't realize that before buying it. Otherwise I might not have thought this was such a great deal. Look into their XTi. I'm pretty sure the shutter speed is significantly faster. Also do research on lenses you might want before you buy. There are some kits that might come with more than one lens.
I'm in love.......2007-12-23
This is probably the best non-breathing thing I have. I absolutely love this thing!!! To be frank I did not compare with Nikon counterparts or other Canon cameras, I also have never used another SLR before so I went with what most reviews said about the XT. Almost bought the XTi but price difference at the time was $200. Plus I love the information screen on these cameras and dont mind the small LCD screen. XTi seems a better deal now as the price difference has shrunk (bye bye XT). Anyways, this is a GREAT camera. Pictures are way way better than a conventional digital camera. Even at ISO 1600 pictures look great. Bought a Canon 50mm 1.8, and Tamron 17-50 F2.8 + Tamron 70-300 lens. Great combo, stored kit lens in the closet (ok lens but kind of boring). I feel like a pro now and plan to learn about photography seriously. Canon 30D and 40D are way sexier, might upgrade later after I build a nice lens collection.
May be a good product, but service is bad.......2007-12-19
The company that sells this camera is not customer friendly, they asked if you have any questions, or concerns, and when I did give a response my order was cancelled, they did not try to fix the problem at all, and I needed this for a Christmas gift for my daughter, I would not use this company, the product may be great, but the service is awful.

LOVE IT,LOVE IT,LOVE IT.......2007-12-15
What else can i say but i love my camera it is by far the best present i have gotten. It takes amazing pictures and quickly gets you addicted to taking pictures ..i find myself taking pictures of everything just to see how the settings all work.Anyone you buy this for will love it. You will need at least a 2gb card and highly recommended to buy a camera bag oh and a tripod. Have Fun
ONE DOWNSIDE THAT I WOULD WARN YOU ABOUT.......2007-12-13
I ordered this exact camera from Amazon.com back in May of 2007. I love this camera, the quality of its picture taking and how very EASY it is to use. For a photography novice like me using a professional grade digital camera like this it is super easy to use. Canon makes great cameras.
HOWEVER....the CFS cards (which is basically the term they use for memory cards) plug into a slot inside the side of the camera. The cards have a series of holes that align into tiny copper prongs inside the camera. It does not take magnetized memory cards like a lot of digital cameras do. Twice I have run into the problem where since I use multiple memory cards and am VERY careful when removing and inserting them-at some point one of the delicate prongs that the card plugs into gets slightly shifted and therefore it would not plug in correctly and completely prevents you from taking or saving pictures unless you get it fixed (You will get a message on the screen saying "CFS error." At first I thought I had purchased a faulty memory card-but soon learned from a representative at Canon that unfortunately it was not the card but when inserting and removing these cards a lot of people have run into this problem--SO I just wanted to warn you all that it can become a MAJOR inconvenience to you if this happens as it can take some time to fix (although it's a simple problem to fix.) The first time it happened to me, I sent it in to Canon's repair center and they had it fixed just as new for FREE because it has a warranty, but it took six weeks. The second time it happened, I took it to a local authorized Canon technician who also fixed it for free since it is still under warranty.
My advice and what I am going to do is buy a memory card that holds the largest amount of gigabytes possible and just never remove the card so that the prongs will not get compromised. Once the memory card is full-there is no need to take it out to upload the digital images-that is done through an adapter/usb cord. So....I am just going to keep this new memory card inserted indefinitely-upload the photos onto my computer or a CD when it gets full (which takes forever because it takes loads of photos on the 2.0 GB cards even on the highest quality picture taking setting) TO PREVENT THIS PROBLEM FROM EVER HAPPENING AGAIN.
Other than that, I'm in love with this camera and the user guide makes everything so simple and I learn new techniques every time I use it, because it has so many amazing features.

Customer Reviews:
Big Mistake buying this........2007-12-23
I thought I had performed a thorough evaluation of home theater receivers, Onkyo seemed to have great ratings and a good "bang for buck" value. I however got a lemon, and have found out that 30% of the units are bad for HDMI operation.
Google "Onkyo popping". My receiver pops after about 20 minutes of HDMI viewing, and the popping noise is very annoying and begins to increase. I had to buy an expensive fan to help reduce the popping, but this has not stopped the problem. Onkyo told me to reset the unit- and this did not work. The unit is very cool with my special fan, but the popping continues. Onkyo was supposed to call me back (after the 30 minute wait on the phone), but that promise was never kept. My wife wants to kill me because we spent a bunch of money on our home theater and it is not fun to watch with the popping noise.
I have never left a review in my life, but this seems to be the only way to voice my disappointment that Onkyo refuses to even accept that there is a problem, despite the 15 pages of complains.
This receiver sets you up for the future.......2007-12-21
I was a little nervous about ordering this state of the art receiver since I hadn't upgraded my sound system since 1985 but I felt I had to with the purchase of a 50" HDTV. As it turns out, the manual and remote that comes w/ it is very thorough, making setup easy. The included stickers you attach to the positive side of your speaker cable makes it impossible to hook them up w/ the wrong polarity.. unless you're color-blind. I really liked the auto calibration routine they suggest you run the first time you turn on the receiver and test the speakers. It automatically sets your front, center and rear surround speaker levels based on where you're sitting, using the included microphone. After that, w/ the remote it's easy to pick the right listening mode for each component. Even my wife thinks it's easy to operate, and that's saying something. I attached a DVD/VCR recorder and my cable DVR box to the unit using HDMI cables, then a HDMI cable to the HDTV. That's another reason I chose this unit..for the HDMI capability. HDMI cables carry both the audio and video digital signals in one cable, thus eliminating multiple cables for each. This receiver, after choosing your source, automatically upconverts the digital signal to hi-def, another plus. With all the alphabet audio signals it supports: DOLBY truHD, DTS, XM, Sirius and a bunch of others, you're set for the future. Enjoy.
Not that great........2007-12-21
I bought this along with a Yamaha VR-661. I thought this would be better as it has HDMI 1.3 and the Yamaha didn't. I'm returning it back as the sound quality is just not that great. I have my Martin Logan's hooked up to it and the Yamaha is just soo much better. I'm not so sure about the video but the audio is just much more important to me.
Good value.......2007-12-20
The receiver has matched my expectations providing good sound quality, easy connections and processing via the HDMI links. I'm using it exclusively with digital inputs and driving a 5.1 speaker system.
The remote control also simplifies overall operation by controlling, cable, box, TV, and DVD. I was surprised it supported some of the more specialised operations of other equipment like guide operation and recording modes of the cable hard disc box.
Set up was easy, and the automated speaker balancing worked well.
One minor niggle on the radio receiver is that it does not seem to be possible to get it to remember a mono setting for a particular station setting. That would have been useful for a couple of marginal radio stations that are best listened to in mono to reduce hiss.
Overall I feel this unit gives very good functionality and performance in its price range.
Love this receiver.......2007-12-20
I almost bought the 505 and decided on the 605. I'm soooo happy I did. The HDMI a/v passthroughs, ease of setup, and typical Onkyo sound quality all make this receiver fun to work with. My 605 drives my Polk RM20's and Polk PSW111 subwoofer. Very pleased with the sound. The only issue I have relates to the Onkyo iPod adapter. I wish there was a specific set of inputs for the adapter. I ended up connecting the audio using the tape inputs and ran video directly from the adapter to my TV. This works fine. For the money, this receiver is a great value...

Very Good for the Price.......2007-12-19
This is much better than the 7" Coby that I bought. The ONLY problem I have with it is that I can't find a volume control. Other than that, I think it is the best value I have found. It looks just as nice as most of the digiframes that are a level above this in price. It is easy to navigate, the pictures are bright and of good quality (no stretching like the 7" ones), you can play audio while viewing the slideshow (can't on the Coby)! I do wish it played WMA's, but no big - just use MP3's.

Great Sound.......2007-12-25
Great sound. The automatic speaker set up worked great. Set up with two Infinity Beta 50s biamped and a beta 50 center speaker. rear speakers and sub woofer are Kenwoods from old system (I plan to replace them soon). The Odyssey set up was very accurate, it determines the distance of the speakers from a test sound. I measured the distances and compared it to what it said and it was right on. Even my old rear and subwoofer sound very good with this receiver. Stereo sound with just the two Beta 50s sounds incredible. HDMI switching is great. I have not used it to up convert video signals since I am running HDMI for every thing. Movies in surround sound sound awesome as expected.
Outstanding Receiver for the "Price"!!!!.......2007-12-21
I received my receiver yesterday. I bought from Amazon. Got great price and great free shipping - received in 3 days from when I ordered.
The setup and installtion was a walk in the park. I didnt even read the manual - now I have to agree I have lot of experience in dealing with these but still I would say the onscreen setup and menus are very intutive. I changed the name of the game/TV to PS3 etc very easily.
Did the Speaker setup and it was great and easy.
I saw terminator 2 (blu ray) on PS3 and it was just fabulous. I had Yamaha Rx-V2400 earlier and I thought that was amazing. I even thought of not buying this receiver and just buying the DMP-BD10AK because it has 7.1 analog audio (I know I know that was idiotic thought but still) and now I am way happier with the results. Even my novice wife (who had questions about my decision to buy the receiver) also acknowledged the audio looks superb - worth the price.
Apart from the audio now I have one HDMi cable running to my projector (still have the component there) and I can switch the inputs to the receiver without switching the projector input. That was not a issue for me but it will make the theater usage much simpler for my wife and dad.
I do not have any heating issues at all. The receiver has 7" of open space on the top and the back of the entertainent system is also open. I can feel the heat coming out of the box but its getting dissipated very good. I am at advantage here because my system is in the home theater in the basement and the way I have the entertainment system setup - its not visible (remote works via the universal RF transmitter) so I can keep the back side open with wires showing. But that I think is the key to cool operation of this unit. If I keep this unit in any enclosed unit (typical credenza style entertainment center) it will heat up.
The only issue I saw was (as noted by others) there was considerable delay in switching the inputs. But given the price that downside is acceptable to me at least.
Before buying this unit I contemplated buying the TX-SR875 - I am happy I did not spend the extra $550. This unit will pass the 1080p input from any HDMI source (PS3 for me) to the projector/TV. I do not see any other 1080p source in the distant future than the HD-DVD or blu ray players. BTW I dont think any of these will win - it will be standard definition download - in 2-3 years. Remember DVD-Audio/SACD war?? who won - MP3!!! So dont worry I think what ever you buy(blu ray or HD DVD) it is going to go down the drain soon when somebody will provide you will instant movie downloads for $2 per movie!!! Back to SR875 Vs 805 I right now have a 720p projector (1080p is for next year). The PS3 works as the network connector through my wifi connection to it and I can see all the data I have on the 1TB of storage on my main PC. So the only functionality I think I lost was the video upscaling of my non-highdef dish connection. I have never seen the upscaling work to the extent where I can justify paying any money for it. So I think 805 is the way to go!!!!
BTW I noticed that the instruction manual is the same for SR875 and SR805!!! That tells me how different they are..
already in the shop for repairs.......2007-12-12
I had the receiver in for about 2 weeks and I had to send it off for repairs. It never upscaled any image up to 1080p or anything close to it. Additionally, the display didnt work property. I could have all speakers working and only the left and right front speakers were displayed on the receiver.
On a positive note, the help line was in fact very helpful.
It does get really hot!
Right unit right on time........2007-12-11
The TX-SR805 we purchased with the primary focus of THX certification and zoned outputs arrived sooner than expected, and free shipping. The set up did require reading the instruction manual, but the remote control functions slipped seamlessly into our existing component lash-up. The addition of this unit with the satellite receiver dual Digital Video Recorder and wide screen made the High Definition content even more brilliant. The audio zone control will fit snuggly into the whole house audio speaker arrangement. Great buy, just price and right on time.
Onkyo 805 Rules !!!!.......2007-12-10
Awsome product for the money. Read reviews about 805 and save your money
and buy this unit, you will not be disapppointed. Tons of features, 130W
X 7 channels !!!! for under $700 !!!!!

The same great iPod interface and ease of use that goes great in any hand.
|
With all your music at your fingertips, you may never want to stop listening. Lucky thing your iPod plays audio for hours and hours, or if you'd rather watch, you can feast your eyes on movies and TV shows for several hours without draining your battery. And you can count on the iPod to help you pack light. It is almost hard to explain exactly how 30 GB of storage can fit into an iPod that's over 30-percent thinner than the previous fourth generation. However it happened, it means you can carry more music and video absolutely anywhere you go. And with a 60-percent brighter screen, the vibrant display gives your album art, photos, and video extra oomph. As always, iPod makes finding what you want to hear a breeze. Plus, a new interface lets you search your iPod using the patented Click Wheel. And if you're a fan of live albums, classical works, or anything that sounds best when it is played continuously, iPod supports gapless playback that seamlessly transitions from one song to another.
Music, Movies and TV Shows
Finding and playing music on your iPod is simple. Use the Click Wheel to adjust volume, navigate songs, or browse the Music menu by artists, composer, album, song, genre, or playlist. Want to mix things up? Simply click Shuffle Songs. iPod makes your music look as good as it sounds, thanks to its big, bright color display. Album art appears alongside your songs in the Now Playing screen, so you can see your music as you play it. After all, iPod loves music as much as you do.
Now you can watch a movie while waiting in line for tickets to one. Download movies from the iTunes Store, then sync them to your iPod to watch anywhere, anytime. The iPod's gorgeous display--now 60-percent brighter--makes your movies pop. And thanks to improved video playback time, iPod keeps you entertained for several hours--even longer if you reduce brightness using the new brightness control.
As for television programs, there's always something good on iPod. Browse thousands of episodes of your favorite TV shows on the iTunes Store, buy them for just a couple dollars each, then sync them to your iPod. Watch last night's episodes this morning, or buy a whole TV series and settle in for a pocket-size marathon. All your TV episodes display in order, so you can navigate them easily, and every episode you buy from iTunes is optimized to look great on the iPod's crystal-clear, 320 x 240-pixel display.
Podcasts, Audiobooks, Games, and Photos
The iTunes Store features thousands of free podcasts--radio-type shows you subscribe to--including indie favorites and offerings from big names such as, ABC News, Comedy Central, ESPN, PBS, NPR, and many more. Browse and subscribe to podcasts, then sync them to your iPod and listen anytime. Even video podcasts sync to go, and all your podcasts appear in their own menu on your iPod, so they're easy to navigate.
The iPod measures up nicely, and is over 30% thinner than the previous fourth generation.
|
The iTunes Store is the bridge between your iPod and all the content your heart desires.
|
The digital shelves of the iTunes Store are stocked with thousands of audiobooks, including such exclusives as the entire Harry Potter series. Download what you want, sync to your iPod and catch up on your reading the audio way. Just like podcasts, you can browse audiobooks in their own menu on your iPod. And your iPod automatically recognizes where you left off reading and bookmarks your place, so it is easy to dive back into the story. You can even change the reading speed to suit you--this is a perfect feature for learning a new language.
Now that the iTunes Store features iPod games, you can keep hours of fun at your fingertips. Download brand-new and classic games, including Bejeweled, Texas Hold 'Em, Vortex, Mahjong, Mini Golf, Pac-Man, Tetris, and Zuma, for just a few dollars each, then sync them to your iPod and play along with your favorite tunes. All iPod games from the iTunes Store are designed specifically for the fifth-generation iPod, and all of them look great on the 2.5-inch color display.
If you can fill your iPod with photos, then you've got a ton of images at your disposal. iPod holds tens of thousands of photos that you can sync from your Mac or Windows PC via iTunes. Use the Click Wheel to scroll through photo thumbnails the same way you scroll through song titles. To see a photo full-screen, just click the center button. You can even view photo slideshows--complete with music--on your iPod or on a TV via the optional iPod Video/Photo AV Cable. Select Slideshow Settings, choose the transition effect and the music, and then start the show.
Search, Settings, and Extras
With thousands of songs, audiobooks, and more on your iPod, you need an easy way to search and enjoy your collection. A brand-new, built-in search function lets you use the Click Wheel to type out the name of the song, artist, album, audiobook, or podcast you're looking for, and your iPod returns results instantly as you select letters--finding what you want couldn't be easier.
The fifth-generation iPod lets you customize menus, check capacity, change your language, change how your iPod sounds, and more, all from the easy-to-use Setting menu. Click About to see how many songs are on your iPod and how much room you have left. Click Main Menu to select what items appear in your Main Menu, tweak the built-in equalizer, or set a maximum volume limit--everything you need to personalize your iPod, from backlight timer to clicker sound effects, appear in Settings.
And, lastly, your iPod is loaded with extras. Everything from calendars, contacts, and the World Clock appear in the Extras menu, along with a few more handy items. Take the Screen Lock, for example. Spin the Click Wheel to choose a four-digit combination and protect your iPod from prying eyes. If you forget your combo, you can reset it at your next sync. Or use the built-in stopwatch to log your best times at the gym. And when it's finally time to play, the Extras menu lists all your games, including the ones you purchase from the iTunes Store.

The Best Gift EVER!!.......2007-12-27
I got my IPOD for Christmas 2 years ago. How cool is it to be able to upload your CD collection .. up to 7500 songs on the 30GB.. onto ONE little IPOD!!?? And never have to mess with CDs and CD cases again!
Frees up your shelves at home (no more CD library!!), and makes long commutes to work in the car much more enjoyable!
I have an IPOD dock that is hooked up to my home stereo as well.
I can't say enough about how great this thing is!
The only drawback so far after 2 years of use- You can't see the touch-wheel in low light or in the dark. It would be helpful if the buttons had a backlight! Oh and yes it scratches easily, so I think it should come with a case or protective skin instead of having to go buy one!
Other than that, great gift!!!
Great product.......2007-12-19
Now don't get me wrong i do insanly love my ipod but you know there is but two downside, the batterie only last's about an hour and a half of continuis use, and if you put to much stuff on it it will slow down a little, other than that it is a great mp3 player.
its wonderful.......2007-12-18
It's the best ipod ever, I can see my pictures very clear, video and listen music for over 10 hours and more.
Short Life.......2007-12-17
Ipods are great when they are working. 30 GB was more memory than I'd ever need to take my whole music collection with me and an occasional movie. On the downside, it is was not very customizable, but that was really minor. The major problem I had with it was that it only lasted a year. That is really horrible. I don't know if it's the battery or the hardrive, but either way it's not worth the money to get it repaired.
I'd hope the new Ipods last longer.
My second opinion on the iPod.......2007-12-08
At first I hated iPod (something to do with my first one literally blowing up) But I gave it another chance, and to my surprise, it's been working great. I give the actual product 5 stars, but I loathe iTunes, seeing as how I had to delete all my music from it since I ran out of memory on my HD. Luckily you're able to set it to manual sync, meaning your iPod won't automatically sync the content currently on your iTunes account, or in my case LACK of content. It's inevitable, but I'm gonna have to eventually upload all my albums again. A simple "load content from iPod to iTunes" feature would do wonders for me.
Product Description
The DVP-NC85H five-disc DVD player offers 720p/1080i upscaling through an HDMI connection (High Definition Multi Media Interface). HDMI allows the transfer of uncompressed digital audio and video signals to other HDMI equipped components, providing an uncompromised picture. It also features Precision Cinema Progressive technology, which delivers accurate and vivid images to the television. Unlike other DVD players that detect image changes at the Scan line level-Sony's Precision Cinema Progressive (PCP) system detects them at the Pixel level. This results in images closer to the original source data, because separate, optimized algorithms are used to handle the differing Pixel behavior. Precision Drive III mechanism is also included, which helps maximize the performance of DVD collections by reading data even on some physically "warped" discs. Other benefits include a 12bit/108MHz video DAC (digital to analog converter), and 24 bit/192KHz audio, providing high-quality video and audio processing for vivid images and crystal clear sound.
Amazon.com Product Description
Store hours upon hours of entertainment in Sony's DVP-NC85H/B five-disc carousel changer. This versatile unit plays DVDs and a variety of older disc formats, such as VCD and SVCD, as well as your favorite music CDs. And since the unit supports HDMI connections, you're sure to get the best picture possible.
HDMI Compatible
High-Definition Multi-media Interface (HDMI) is an interface format that provides uncompressed digital audio and video directly to a digital television. It represents the current state of the art in high-definition video and sound because the information never has to be converted into an analog format. Another benefit of HDMI is that it puts all that information into one cable and one easy-to-use connector.
An added benefit of connecting the DVP-NC85H/B to your set with HDMI is that the unit can "upscale" commercial DVDs, which are rendered at 480p resolution, to a digitally interpolated 720p resolution, which makes for a much sharper picture.
For analog sets, the DVP-NC85H/B includes a 108 MHz 12-bit digital-to-analog converter for sharp picture and clear action. It features composite, S-video and component video connectors, as well as optical digital, coaxial digital, and RCA analog audio outputs.
Precision Cinema Progressive
While other DVD players detect image changes at the scan line level, Sony's Precision Cinema Progressive (PCP) system detects them at the pixel level. This makes the picture more faithful to the source--whether film or video--because the technology uses separate, optimized algorithms to handle the differing pixel behavior. It also uses separate algorithms to process the moving and still parts of an image, resulting in sharp backgrounds with moving objects that are virtually free from motion artifacts.
Precision Drive 3 System
Sony's DVP-NC85H/B delivers excellent picture and sound quality--even from damaged discs. How? The unit's Precision Drive 3 system allows you to playback some DVDs that may have been damaged or warped without a degradation of picture quality. This feature comes in handy when watching rentals or other heavily used discs.
MP3 and JPEG File Playback
The DVP-NC85H/B plays MP3 sound files and JPEG photo files. Simply insert the disc and use the remote control to navigate through your folders to your files.
Customer Reviews:
I really love this player!.......2007-12-21
After over 40 hours of play time thus far, I just love this DVD player. Some might think it's slightly slow but I am not that impatient! I think it works extremely well and the only slight drawback is that it does make some mild mechanical noise while loading or waiting to be loaded. This is not a big deal at all and it stops as soon as a disc is loaded. It's totally a minor thing. I can't believe that I was able to get this fabulous 5 DISC SONY DVD Player for $120!! Merry Christmas to Me! ;-) (yeah!)
Great Picture, Great Sound & Easy To Use.......2007-12-12
I bought this unit to replace several CD players and a single disc DVD player. It is all I hoped it would be. I've got it hooked up to an HDTV and a Home Surround Sound System. Picture and sound quality are great. The system was easy to kook up. The manual is fairly straight forward. The multi disc feature makes it easy to load up on music and sit back and enjoy without the need to swap out discs. I'm not into random play, so negative comments in some other reviews had no impact on me. I bought it based on the features I knew
