Photo Club Review.......2007-12-22
This is the best projector we've used, but it isn't perfect. Even with all of the color corrections possible using the menu system, photos don't come out exactly as seen on the monitor. Start up and shut down are easy. The menu works easily and well.
For the price, it is very acceptable.
Very Nice Projector.......2007-12-18
I purchased the Epson 77c Multimedia Projector for use at my investment club meetings. Its performance is outstanding. The powerpoint presentations and web downloads are crisp and clear. Combine this with the no hassle straight forward Amazon ordering and shipping makes me a very satisfied customer.
Epson PowerLite 77c Projector.......2007-11-22
My experience with this product has been nothing but positive, it arrived on time and it works wonderfully. I give the service 4 stars.
Excellent quality in this price point........2007-11-20
This is a very nice projector for the money. Color fidelity is good, brightness is good on economy setting in a lit room (ours is 3.1m from screen). Triple LCD gives a nice flicker free, rainbow free image. Epson is a good brand.
Great value!.......2007-11-16
This projector is a very good choice for home entertainment as well as work in an office or in the lab [my case]. It is very bright even when operated in economy mode. The self adjusting feature is very good, like for instance the auto keystone. The menu is easy to navigate, and efficient. The lamp is good, and cheap. The projector is quiet, and doesn't get too hot while operating. The cover lid for the lamp is a good extra. The machine is light and very easy to carry with the provided bag.
The remote could be bigger with bigger buttons. The VGA cable is rather short but can be replaced with a 10ft super-VGA shielded video cable for about $20.
In essence, a must buy! Clear, bright and sharp images/videos at a very reasonable price. I had a DELL projector before and I regret I didn't trust EPSON to begin with!

Multimedia Projector.......2007-09-19
The Epson S5 2000 Lumen 3LCD Multimedia Projector has worked perfectly since received earlier in September 2007. Things you should note are the projector comes with a carrying case and it creates a lot of heat. So operate it in a cool environment. Hook up is a snap and is truely very light.
Digital projection technology has really come around!.......2007-09-11
What can I say? I manage the Western US for our firm. I present industry seminars to groups of 10 to 50. Being in the graphics industry, I'm pretty saavy with inkjet and other printing technologies, and have been in photography since high school. I thought I knew digital projectors. However, I wasn't prepared for all the new advances in portable digital projection technology.....at least not for under $600. Not only can you electronically zoom in or out on total picture size, but you can electronically "tilt the image" forward or back, to compensate for raising the front of the projector to elevate the image on your screen or wall. It takes care of the "trapizoidal distortion" in optical projectors of yester-year. I was blown away. And by the way, this projector really is "physically super-light", a good thing if you dread carrying your equipment around a building, etc. As for setup "out of the box", I test drove it within minutes. I didn't even need the quick-startup manual, although it's a 5 minute read, and gives you all the info you need to get going. Connecting to my corporate Dell laptop took seconds, and I simply used the monitor output cable they supplied with the projector. I'll be ready to use this tomorrow AM if I want. I'm totally satisfied. I even got a remote control.......I honestly wasn't even thinking about that little extra. What a deal.
Excelent multimedia projector.......2007-07-30

Great Bulb, Replacement Plan was a Scam.......2007-09-20
The bulb works great and comes with easy to use instructions and even a small screwdriver if one if not available. One caution I'd have is to wait a few hours after turning your projector off before changing the lamp (Yes, HOURS). Inside is very hot, and touching the lamp before it is cool could burn.
Although I liked the lamp, the company that provides replacement plans on these products gave me the run-around on the lamp I bought last October. I bought a one year replacement plan and thought (wrongly) that my lamp went out last month. When I asked about a replacement, they told me that my plan was void because they only cover permanent hardware. I checked the Amazon page and the same company was still offering replacement plans on that product 11 months later, meaning they were still selling replacement plans that they claimed not to honor. Makes me wonder how many people in those 11 months bought the plan and didnt have it honored when their products failed.
On a side note, my lamp had not actually failed. It still works fine, and I have put in over 2,500 hours on it (another reason not to buy the replacement plan). I use it for cable, DVD and to play my Wii.
great deal bulbs.......2007-07-03
I found a great (five star) service, I also bought two projectors and I received perfectly on time overall Great deal
Thanks
It was what I wanted.......2007-02-14

Customer Reviews:
Thumbs Up.......2007-11-10
I've been running my EP719 as a third monitor and/or TV for nearing 2 months now and am quite pleased with its performance to date. It doesn't balk at extended gaming sessions or movie marathons, and the resolution is high enough to still see details. It performs admirably with games such as Halo 3, the Unreal Tournament 3 demo, and Hellgate: London.
The colors become a little washed out when my room lights are on, or the window shades are open, but the screen is still easily visible (and playable, for gamers). But in a darkened room, it works wonders.
The only thing keeping it from a 5 out of 5 is the visibility of color wheel artifacts (rainbow effect) when displaying highly contrasted areas (ie: power lines running across an open sky in a moving shot - the dark lines and immediate area waver with shimmering colors). But from what I've seen at this point, the majority of viewing material doesn't contain high enough contrast to make this much of an issue.
All in all, I'm happy with the projector, and would recommend it as a basic entry-level projector for people such as myself who are new to the projector scene.
Can't beat it for the price.......2007-08-10
If you're anxious to get started on a home theater and looking for a reasonably priced projector that delivers, look no further. This is my first projector, and I can't tell you how happy I am I went with this versus a $1500+ HDTV. Only two minuses keep it from being a 5 star rating. 1) You will need to make several adjustments to get the picture quality to be spot on, but once you do, it is a magnificent image. I found a very easy solution to making these adjusments. Find a DVD with the THX Optimizer option in the menus (Star Wars, and some Disney dvds have this) and run the video tests. Each step of these tests correspond to options on the projector's image menus and, once completed, will give you a prime setting for any DVD you play from that point forward. If you have an upscaling DVD player or an HD DVD player and use an HDMI-to-DVI cable connection, the optimization process is even simpler and the picture quality is as good as any HDTV on the market (provided you use a screen of course). I bought an $80 Panoview pull-down screen from Optoma and it does the trick. 2) The projector is only a 2-color wheel projector, which means you get a slight rainbow effect. A keen eye will pick this up occasionally, but after a few viewings, it just isn't noticeable. In fact, for seven months, I have been in a state of bliss as I am able to watch all my DVDs in a 100" diagonal format with virtually the same quality and image size of a $50,000 plus plasma TV. Even the component cable quality was stunning, though you need to buy an adapter from Optoma (around $40) to use the component input (I guess that might be a third minus). All in all, a great deal for a starter projector.
Awsome.......2007-06-23
Here is the secret . . .
Buy a DVI400 Monster cable (cost around $80) and connect to your cable box (or any of your device) and project at the plain wall at night time (complete dark) . . . If it is High Definiion, I can say you get 100% (not even 99%, it is 100% quality movie . . .) I kept saying "wow", looking at the quality . . . ( bought new one for $599 few weeks ago)
Awesome Plasma Alternative.......2007-06-17
This is a terrific projector, especially for HD content. It is better at night of course, but I can watch it in the daytime with my blinds closed. I have it for two years and passed the recommended lamp life (2000 hours) and it still works great. I project at about 90+ inches from about 7-8 feet back. I have a PC connected to the VGA port, a DVD player to the SVideo, and my HD cable box to the DVI port. Changing the source is easy to do from the remote control. The projector is small and light, and comes with a nice carrying case. I occasionally take it on the road with my laptop. The digital keystone correction distorts the picture a bit, so I recommend using the projector at a natural angle. A ceiling/wall mount kit can be acquired for around $60, but you'll pay a lot for a long DVI/HDMI cable ($100+).
Optoma Portable Projector - working fine.......2007-02-18
I've been using my Optima EP719 DLP projector fro about a month now and I am well satisfied with the performance and low noise level. I use it teaching a college class and it is bright enough for good visibility in a classroom even when the shades are not fully closed. Set up and connecting to the computer is easy. The keystone adjustment is easy to use - better than on some other units I've used. I had hoped the "remote" would allow changing slides on PowerPoint presentations but this remote only talks to the projector, a feature of limited use. I think this is a good value unit for the price.

Purchased 2 projectors.......2006-12-13
If portability and quality are equally important to you, then this is a great option. The projector gets regular use in classroom settings and is transported weekly (it weighs less than most laptops). Its performance was impressive enough to warrant the purchase of 2nd EP729 nine months later, for use in another branch of work.

Excellent, Great quality picture, Easy to use.......2007-12-23
I bought this product after researching all over the net. It is one of the best product on this price range. It is very easy to install and operate. I love it and will highly recommend for anyone who wants a projector. If you limit its use only to watch movie rather than regular TV programs, the lamp will last longer.
WOW, This is a great projector........2007-11-26
I shopped for 6 months before purchasing a projector...I went to a local company that specializes in home theaters and looked at thier demo machines. The HC3000 had better picture quality that projecters twice thier cost!! It may not have all the options, bells, and whistles as the expensive machines, but you cannot go wrong with this one. Just hook it up to your DVD player and you are ready to go! I was extremely cautious in purchasing a home theater system, because I wanted to get the best bang for my buck. I feel like I got it with the Mitsubishi HC3000u.
I also purchased the universal Telehook ceiling mount. When I get my screen (right now I shine it against a wall) I will be all set!!
Great product.......2007-10-10
I love my new projector,I had a theater built for me in my basement and the guy I hired bailed on me and he recommended the 3000U after researching I new he was right, great colors, even on a dark green wall. I watch movies for a month on the wall and even hesitated buying a screen, but anyhow the projector is great and very easy to install because I had to finish the theater myself, and the price from amazon beat everybody's price and it was delivered in no time.
Excellent.......2007-03-10
The item arrive as schedule according to the tracking information provided by Amazon. The product arrive new as promise and display an exceptional, clear piture. The projector is so quick the viwer don't know the system is on. My next big ticket item will be purchase through Amazon.
Mitsubishi HC3000U.......2007-01-24
The projector preforms very well. Picture quality is excellent. Easy to operate. With a ceiling mount and even though the projector has no lens shift I had no problem obtaining an image with no keystoning problems. Projector is extremely quiet. Very little fan noise. Switching between multiple input sources is easy. The projector is brighter that the one I replaced but I did expect it to be a little brighter that what it is. However brightness is very acceptable. Contrast is execellent.

DLP Technology: Superb Imaging and Convenience
The LP120 relies on DLP, or digital imaging, technology from Texas Instruments. DLP is entirely digital, which means that you'll never experience image degradation or "yellowing"--better known as color decay--that other imaging technologies experience over time.
The LP120 is as slim and lightweight as a carton of cigarettes. |
Features an intuitive keypad on the top of the project for easy navigation. For a detailed view click here. |
Connection panel is located at the rear of the unit. For a detailed rear view click here. |
Projectors based on DLP technology are fully compatible with digital signals--with no analog conversion necessary--making them compatible with everything from digital cameras to gaming consoles. The Digital Micromirror Device that forms the heart of DLP technology is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, giving DLP the advantage of being extremely portable.
Portability is LP120's first, middle and last names. At a mere 2.05 by 3.69 by 9.75 inches (H by L by W), this is one of the smallest video projectors on the market today. But don't let its diminutive size fool you. The LP120 is an XGA (1024 x 768) resolution projector that produces 1100 ANSI lumens of brightness at a contrast ratio of 2000:1 and can project at a range of about 4.5 to 14 feet. The native XGA resolution will give your presentations clear, full-screen details, and its optical zoom lens will let you adjust the picture without moving the project.
Ideal for small-room or conference table presentations, the projector operates at a volume of 36 decibels, more than quiet enough for small areas. The LP120 features an extended DVI port and an S-Video input, as well as a 3.5-millimeter socket for audio input for sound projection through the unit's built-in one-watt speaker. The main input carries a USB connection in addition to the video inputs, and the standard cable that's included connects to a VGA connector and a USB port. The USB connection allows you to use the projector's remote control with the host PC. The remote control that comes with the projector has forward and back buttons for presentations, a status button, and a red laser pointer. The projector's top panel controls are backlit for ease of use during presentations, and its color-coded ports make setup a breeze.

One of the best mobile projectors.......2007-09-17
Very powerfull projector.
Small and light to carry. Makes a lot of impression on potential customers.
Small living room (?).......2007-09-05
I have a 12 x 24 living room with a patio door smack in the center of long wall, Our normal TV/Stereo takes up one short wall. I added a pull-down screen behind Patio Valance, placed LP120 on removable shelf above couch, out of way. Only problem was to add 1" bar on rear of shelf to raise rear of projector because it displays to high. Placed Sony towers on each side of patio door for front speakers, use wireless surrond speakers since my wife doesn't want to see anything around when not in use, screen acts as sun-screen when down, it and the projector work very well, given room constraints. Went from large living room and electrohome 8500 to this. Not like the moives do to seating but great in everyone opinion.
Great projector, terrible support from infocus.......2007-02-24
A great projector for travel. Infocus tech support is terrible for service so make sure you have a authorized support dealer near you.
Size matters..........2007-01-30
We have 15+ LP120s at our company for over 2 years now and they have performed well.
Obviously, you buy this projector for the size. If you can carry around a bigger projector, you can no doubt do better on price, brightness, and color. But this thing is small enough to fit in your computer bag, is easy to set up even for non-technically inclined business people, and does a great job for business presentations to small to medium sized groups (up to 40-50 people). It comes with everything you would need in terms of accessories.
We've run some occaasional video over it with no problems. If video is your primary use, you could do better with another projector.
So, you buy this because you want a light, very easy to travel projector with the essential features for a small to medium group business presentation. For this purpose, this projector is the best on the market, even though it's been out for a few years. It helps that the price has come down significantly over the past year.
If you have other needs (video, large groups), look elsewhere.
Not as big of a disappointment as folks let on..........2007-01-09
I read the reviews. I was a bit skeptical. I was looking for a machine that I could use for both work and play, and I even purchased this item as a refurb so you can imagine that I was a bit scared about what I'd end up with.
By the way, if you go to professional AV sites and see what they say about this product, you get a more balanced review that looks at the capabilities of the product. People who work in video know that the defaults on av equipment aren't always set to match every end-users preference.
Out of the box, yes - the yellows look a little green. If you sit down and adjust the color settings with a reference image, its like tuning an instrument. Find the color temp and tint that you want, save the preset and you are done! I was able to get a reasonable color profile to match my vaio laptop in about 10 minutes... red gain 71, green can stay around 50, blue gain 65 or so.
The valid complaint, if you want to call it that, is the image is not the brightest out there. BUT this thing is small. Incredibly small. The lens? I would bet it isn't much larger than a quarter. The ability to be able to pack this with my laptop in a briefcase for carry-on is fantastic.
The audio is poor a mono 1 watt speaker. The lack of inputs was scary, but this comes with a number of adapters and attachments to make up for it. The fans are quiet - I was expecting something much louder.
Overall I found this product delivers what it promises. I am only giving it 4 stars right now because I just got it... I'll step it up to 5 if it continues to perform well.

Customer Reviews:
pretty good unit........2007-09-16
well i just picked up this unit and no where on the box did it mention that it was not mountable on the ceiling. only after thumbing through the manual did i find that it "brother" tdp-et10 is the only one that you can mount on the ceiling. so aside from that if you have a fairly small room and want a big picture and can set this thing close to the ground with no fear then it's a great unit, otherwise look else where.
