This TV is very good for the price. Specs include: 8ms repsonse time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, ATSC/NTSC tuner, built in DVD player, HDMI in, and others listed in the description.
Features aside, this TV delivers a solid picture. I put it in my roughly 100 sqft. apartment bedroom and it is much larger than the 13" tube TV it replaced. With only a 2-d comb filter, picture sometimes looks a little washed out, but not too too badly. Plus, the 2-d comb filter is only used on the composite-in and NTSC cable in, nothing else. Motion blurring is non-existent at best, and only a mild nuisance at worst. I was watching a Futurama DVD and when the ship flies by at the start of the intro, it gets a little blurry but not so bad that it is a large distraction.
Preset picture modes are good, and the menu gives you quite a bit of wiggle room for fine tuning the picture, given the price of the TV. The menu also has an audio adjustment feature but this does hardly anything to effect the sound. The speakers are only passable. I recommend using the audio out function as it will give you so much more.
progressive scan DVD player itself is a nice compact slot-loading unit with good controls and a decent picture. The remote is easy to use and has a decent range which is good because this TV is NOT compatible with universal remotes (as far as I know anyway).
In short, this is a good solid TV with nice features for a low price. If you are good at shopping around you may be able to get one of these for the same price as a new xbox 360 premium which, might I add, comes in very clearly and crisply through the HDMI in. It's not going to be a "wonderful change the world amazingly superb ridiculous" TV but it is good enough to warrant the price for frugalists.

I've had this tv for a few months now and I can honestly say that I am even happier with it now than I was before.
First off, the speakers are much nicer than previously indicated. This was because of my mistake. The basic treble and bass EQ of the TV was way off and the surround sound simulator makes things even more complicated. However, after some fine tuning I got some really good lows out of the speakers and some good punch. It can't replace home theatre and I still recommend audio out if you have better speakers (I have a Philips 2.1 set-up) but otherwise they work a lot better than before.
Control over individual red, green, and blue color temperatures are really cool. This is something that isn't offered on a lot of sets but it is a blast to fiddle around with.
Black levels are deeper than expected, seems much better than the indicated 1000:1 contrast ratio but only on YPbPr, HDMI, and DVD. For any signal coming in at 480i it is only so-so.
If I have one complaint about this TV now it is that it gets very very hot. This is one set which should be well ventilated. My parents own a Panasonic 42" plasma, and this tv can get hotter than the plasma after only being on about 30 minutes.
Still, it is extremely reliable and gets a 5 for 5 for exceeding standards both in size and price.
Great value and function.......2007-07-03
I got three of these to run slide shows continuously for display and they've been great. I like the side loading DVD player because it keeps it under 4" thick. The only disadvantage I see is that you have to have the remote to use DVD menus. The button controls on the unit are limited and basically only for the TV functions. Overall it's a great value for the size and functionality for the price!
Excellent Television, and a Great Price!!.......2007-06-27
This TV is exactly what we were looking for. The built-in DVD player is a big plus. We wanted to be able to play our in-house DVD movies on this unit, and I was concerned how, and if, they would play. After reading good reviews elsewhere, I ordered it, and have been very satisfied. I would highly recommend this product to anyone.

We just got it last week and it came in on time and in good condition. Since it came all the way across the states I was alittle worried. The TV picture is good and the DVD works. It was easy to hook up. I have not yet got the Dish Network remote to run the TV. Hope I can figure it out. I just have to turn it on with one remote and change the channels with the other. The price was real good from Amazon.
I would recomend it.

Failed on VHS Play.......2004-04-28
The picture is great, the sound is great BUT the very first VHS tape I played shut down the entire system. It is now going to the shop AND I get to PAY to have it picked up and delivered ! Toshiba is adamant that this 80+ pound is a portable for me. Customer service knows to say I'm sorry, but are unwilling and unable to change the no-pay-for-pickup warranty terms. I'll update this review post the repair. So far, it's nice but too expensive if it keeps breaking. Buy with caution.

We have been looking and evaluating TV/DVD/VCR sets for over a year.
I waited until the price went down as when it first came out it was $599.
I am glad we have it. It does have the very best picture and is also the best looking. This is my first Toshiba.
It is so nice to plug it in and go.
Notice: as with most of the combos, you cannot watch another channel when recording another. You have to watch what is recording or turn it off as it will record when the TV is off.
It will also copy DVD's to tape if the DVD is NOT copy protected.
Good overall unit; lousy remote control.......2004-01-15
I find the 24" size ideal for the bedroom. It does play DVD-R discs as stated in the specifications, but not all media play equally well. Titles burned using the 1x Verbatim media I purchased at Sam's Club play fine so far; however, the HQT 1X-4X DVD-R media I purchased from CDR/DVDR Media(http://store.yahoo.com/cdrdvdrmedia/index.html) hangs and glitches occasionally during playback. I believe the reflectivity of that media is near the lower threshhold of what the unit can read. The Verbatim discs probably have a higher reflectivity index which makes them easier to read. I'll just shop around until I find some 4x media that provides decent reflectivity and isn't too expensive.
Picture quality is quite good; more than adequate for use in my bedroom. My biggest complaint by far is with the remote control. The basic playback controls in the center split all the other buttons into an upper and a lower bank, with row after row of evenly sized and spaced buttons with confusing, unclear labels. The only functions you'll be able to operate by feel are Power, Play, Stop, Rewind and Forward Scan, and Pause. To skip chapters, navigate DVD menus, or even change channels or adjust volume, you'll have to look at the remote. Really one of the worst-designed remotes I've ever used; very frustrating. A couple of other minor complaints include the logic of the unit. For example, you can eject a videotape and the unit remains off, but try to insert a videotape or even eject a DVD and the TV turns itself on. Still, the picture is quite good, the sound is adequate, and even tapes recorded in my S-VHS deck are watchable (if a touch soft and oversaturated). A better remote, smarter logic, and higher quality sound would earn this unit a five-star rating.

The picture quality on this Toshiba is excellent. DVD playback is very impressive. The remote is easy to use and all the controls are easy to figure out. With no wires or connections it is very easy to just plug in and start using the many excellent features on this product.

We purchased this TV at Best Buy.....within two weeks the VCR player quit working....we took it back & got another on exchange.....within a week the VCR player quit working on the exchanged TV.....we are taking it back this weekend and requesting another brand of TV. I don't think we will be purchasing Sylvania products for a while. Once bitten, twice shy....Twice bitten, a lot more smarter.
I hope this review saves you some hassle. I do not recommend this TV.

This TV shows a very nice picture. The audio on it is loud enough to fill a room surprisingly. The only problem is that the DVD player isn't of the highest quality and sometimes skips. Expecially on home made movies. If you are looking for a very nice picture quality and sound, than this is an excellent TV for you. If you are looking for something to play home made movies, you may want to look else where....

This is a really great TV for the price and a DVD and video player too! I can't think of a single complaint except maybe that the menu/controls are a bit complicated and unclear. I even have played CD's. I was not able to get the USB to my camera to work though, so either that doesn't work or the directions are poor.
I was VERY impressed with the free delivery provided by Amazon. The guy made an appointment, brought in the TV and unboxed it and helped me lift it to its proper place and stayed to be sure it worked. Perhaps this is a new program since people have complained about damaged TV's, but it was a great service. So not to worry about the packaging and damage inside - they stay and make sure it is fine.

DVD Player Doesn't Like DVD-R's/Remote is Terrible.......2007-03-28
Image and picture on tv are good. Control is terrible. I don't know if toshiba just doesn't put remotes through usability testing or what. The Yellow color for the dvd functions are impossible to see in anything other then bright light.
The dvd player doesn't like to play certain types of DVD-R media including Sony, Imation and or TDK...so if you have home movies on dvd-r you will have issues.

I found the quality of the picture and sound to be very high, and the combination of features first rate. However, given the choice again, I would not purchase this combination model. In two years, I have had to have the set serviced twice because the DVD player suddenly 'went dead,' and my usage of DVDs is less than once a month.
BEYOND PLEASED.......2006-04-18
I purchased this TV and it has working wonderfully for over two years now. I have had no problem with it what so ever. The picture is great. The DVD and VHS work wonderfully and I love not having separate gagets since I am not very techy. I am writing this review now because I am looking for another of the same to gift to my Mom and to my Sister and I see that Amazon is out of stock. I am happy and beyond pleased with this Toshiba 24" TV-DVD & VCR I only regret not getting it sooner.
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!.......2006-03-18
WE too like another posting had a power outage for about 1 second and it blew the TV. The other brand of tv downstairs was unaffected.
Highly NOT recommended. After seeing everyone else on the net say they received no compensation from Toshiba, I'm not hopeful.
Would Not Recommend.......2005-07-02
I have owned this television for 2 1/2 years and have had to get it repaired twice. When there is a power outage, even if you have it plugged into a surge protector, when the power is restored it blows out the television. Toshiba has done nothing to help in this matter and repair costs have come out of my pocket. I wouldn't recommend buying any Toshiba products since their costumer service is unresponsive to complaints and resolving issues.
