I needed to keep a good balance between getting a system that I would be happy with, that didn't cost too much money & that wasn't going to be visually "obnoxious" according to my wife. Well, the Mirage Nanosat System MORE than lived up to all of my expectations, all of my needs and all of my desires! For this amount of money, you must buy this system.
The perfect system for almost everyone.......2007-04-15
For anyone who isn't a hardcore audiophile, these speakers are the perfect addition to your home theater system. The sound stage is absolutely enormous and the sound reproduction quality is top notch. For movies, gaming, parties and your everyday listening, having a big sound stage is essential.
The vast majority of speakers are directional, which means you have to be sitting within a fairly small area to get the proper stereo reproduction. In many cases, if you listen to a typical 5.1 speaker setup, you can point to the speaker location. That is a bad thing and breaks the illusion of a realistic sound stage.
Because of the omni-directional nature of the sound coming from these little speakers, you feel like you are flooded with sound. But somehow, instead of feeling diffuse and messy, it feels like you can pinpoint every sound perfectly.
It's easy to spend far more on speakers, but it'll just be a waste of money. Buy these speakers and spend the money you save on buying a bigger television or a better quality receiver.

I purchased these speakers recently because I needed a small satellite type system and couldnt justify the prices on the Bose system. I test drove them at Best Buy and then made the purchase. While they do not sound as good as a bookshelf or larger speaker system, I think they sound better than the Bose speakers for a fraction of the price. Easy to mount (brackets included). The sub that came with these is good, but I swapped it out for a larger one that I already had. What I liked about these speakers was that they were not required to be paired with the sub that Mirage makes (I purchased it because it was a deal in a package). Bose requires that you buy their underpowered sub and include it with the system. I think the sub is the biggest limitation to the Bose system. That problem is resolved with this set of speakers paired with a larger sub.

Let's get the cons out of the way first: I wish the system had a more dedicated center speaker. While I do not have any problems understanding speach in DVDs or similar center-channel things (as others have commented on), I have some problems placing the speaker due to it's verticality. But, it is pretty small, so it's a very minor setback.
Overall these speakers are AMAZING. Super small, I have my front speakers on the available subtle stands, and the rear speakers mounted upside-down towards the ceiling. The versatility of the speakers is endless due to the size and omni-polar direction - the sound gets reflected in an almost 360 degree angle. Anywhere in the room the sound is full and clear. The bass unit, while also somewhat small compared to others, is very powerful and crisp. There is a slight gap between the highs & lows due to the size of the sattelite speakers, but not too big of a deal.
Great sound so far with DVDs, rock, pop, hip-hop & classical music.
I am very happy with this purchase!

These speakers sound great, especially when you factor in their size and price. My only complaint with them is that they really should have come up with a different speaker for the center channel. The satellite speakers work great for surround, but do not do the job when used as a center speaker, especially when mounted as directed which is pointing straight up. I remounted my center channel speaker so that it is pointing straight at the couch. This has helped a lot with understanding what people are saying, but when I get the time and money, I'm going to buy a proper center channel speaker. Overall, I am very happy with these speakers.

Was looking for replacement rear surround speakers as it was impossible to get a proper rear surround "feel" due to sitting position and speaker location. The speakers were easily installed and after some minor tuning, completely opened up the rear surround sound from my system. Definetly going to change the front ones now. Recommend whole heartedly.

Decent center channel speaker.......2007-08-23
I got this to go with the nanostats in a modest surround sound setup. I found it to be a little on the week side and it took a bit of futzing with and positioning to get it to be clear and fit in the mix. Probably because it was in a drawer made for a center channel speaker, but I had to actually put some supports in to make it fire correctly forward. Taking the cover off helped too. Another problem that most people won't have is that I was moving into a place with hardwood floors, no rug, little furniture and 16 foot ceilings. All these things don't bode well for clear dialog but the Nano CC did a pretty good job.
Anyway, in the end I got it working really well and now I don't even notice it, as it should be.

I bought these for dual purposes; to improve audibility in my home theater setup, and to allow me to listen to music through that setup without being frustrated by the typical home theater's audio quality. These are superb for both uses. They give an open, clear, balanced sound no matter where you sit. They give excellent audio detail. You hear things in the music you did not know were there. They have a 'precise' sound. My main speakers are Mirage OM-9's, they were 3K and the top of their line when I got them. These speakers with my home theater subwoofer are quite close and I don't lose much except a bit of base tightness when I move from one system to another. If you're looking for clean, detailed, precise sound, I recommend these very highly.

good looks and sound make it disappear..........2007-08-23
When we moved my wife looked at my old crappy Boses speakers (yes, Bose fans you can stop reading, I haven't found a product they make that sounds good, I just got these used cheap when I was broke) and said, "These are not moving with us." Yes, I agree the Bose were ugly. We came upon these at BestBuy and we liked the looks of them but no one at BestBuy seemed to have the skill to demo them. I took a chance based on other reviews I read and ordered them on Amazon. I ended up really liking them! By liking I mean I don't really notice them (unless there's a really obvious surround effect happening) they blend in and are invisible. Perfect for what a surround sound speaker is supposed to do. If you constantly notice them they're either on too loud or they suck. The other bonus is they're beautiful and work well on an end table.
