Good sound for the price.......2007-12-25
The sound quality is good for the price.
Based on online photos, I expected the speakers to be big. It turned out to be compact and correct size.
The speaker has a blue LED light which looks cool. Matches my ANTEC case fan lights!
Spend a little more, don't buy this!.......2007-11-30
Ok, you can't go wrong with 20 bucks, right? Wrong!
The sound quality is so-so. Not terrible, but not too great either. The mids are not full enough, which perhaps is expected from speakers of this price range. The subwoofers are reasonable. Overall, the sound quality, while not great, are still deserving of 4 stars because of the price factor.
The reason I am giving it 2 stars is the ANNOYING sound it makes every few minutes, just before a cell phone is going to ring, or there is some electrical disturbance, and sometimes for reasons unknown to me (perhaps a cell phone 20 feet away!). There is no shielding whatsoever. The noise is highly disturbing, and EXTREMELY loud (it doesnt matter if the speaker volume is turned down). I was actually woken up from sleep last night by a terrible screech it made around 1 AM. In short, it has made the speakers unusable for my purposes and I am going to return them today.
Good for the money.......2007-11-30
I received and set it up yesterday and my initial impression is it's OK. I don't believe that price effects performance, so I'm not going to give it 5 stars because it only costs x dollars. It's better than I expected but it doesn't sound great. For $15-$20, it's about as good as you can expect, so if this is your price range, then I recommend it.
Setup was easy except it was overpackaged. There were too many wrappers and ties that needed to be torn/undone. I needed scissors to cut through plastic tape. It's very easy to operate. There's a power button and a volume knob. It about as intuitive at it gets. I prefer this over a single volume knob that has to be clicked on since I can save the volume setting with a separate power button.
Overall 3 stars. Value for the $ 4.5 stars.
Pleased Customer.......2007-11-17
I had reviewed a number of speakers before choosing Cyber, the addition of the woofer box is what initially sold me on the product. The performance for the price is extrodinary.
Arrived in great shape and I could not be more pleased.
solid.......2007-10-10
These speakers give you great bass & sound (unless you want to break glass) for their small size and are really cheap. Perfect for mp3 player, which is what I use mine for. They do pick up static when a cell phone is being used, or just before it's about to ring. Also, your whole room will have pale blue light if you try to play them as you're falling asleep at night. My previous roommate loved them too and decided to buy her own speakers once I moved out. Besides the light, I couldn't be happier with them!

Audio technology is really making big strides, and it's obvious here. The Altec Lansing VS2421 is an incredibly compact, value-priced system that gets its powerful, full-spectrum sound from custom-engineered, dual 2.5? speakers, plus a thin yet powerful 5.25? subwoofer that fits easily under your desk. The system's size is ideal for small spaces - and you can even mount the satellites on your wall. Controls are right on the front of the speaker. A handy headphone jack is right nearby, and thanks to a microphone built into the right satellite, you can use the VS2421 for internet communications. Wired controller offers easy fingertip control of volume, treble, and mute functions. Bass control is right on the subwoofer. Ok for the money.......2007-12-02
Considering how little I spent, I suppose these speakers are ok, but I was hoping for better from Altec Lansing. I have another set of speakers on a different computer that look very similar, and that I paid similar money for, but sound better even though they're not a "name brand".
Good speaker but too much radio interference.......2007-11-28
The speakers sound great with rich bass. However they suffer from radio interference. In my case I can hear a radio station no matter what volume I set them to. I tried them in several places in the house, same issue. Aluminum foil on the cord that connects the control to the subwoofer seems to help a little. Cellphone in vicinity drives these speakers crazy. Needless to say, my other Altec Lansing speaker pair (6 years old) work just fine.
Altec Lansing Good Speakers.......2007-11-13
My wife wanted new speakers to replace the 10 year old Altec Lansing ACS41 that came with my Gateway G6-233. She stated she wanted speakers that sounded as good as her Aiwa shelf system to go with her new Mac. She was not happy with the old Altec Lansing speakers.
I researched and looked at many different brands. The controls needed to be simple for my wife, and we didn't want to spend a fortune. I was unable to listen to these in a store before purchase. I was very pleased, and more importantly my wife thinks they are great.
Only down side is Bass control in not on the Control Box, but on the Sub-Woofer. Our PC now has the best sound of all our stereo systems. Obviously we don't own any high end component systems.
Best bang for your buck.......2007-10-15
This speaker system is great. You may be doubting it because of its cheap price, but it really does deliver. PROS: Low distortion on high volumes, the bass is not boomy like other systems (bass is tight instead), cool look and free mic. CONS: the mic could be better and the satellite speakers could be smaller. ALL IN ALL: a great buy. I have no regrets.
Impressive.......2007-10-04
I'm an audiophile, I listen critically to every nuance of music and enjoy faithful reproduction of it. That said, I'm quite surprised that these speakers actually create a decent image in a nearfield setup. Voices are palpable and details are presented nicely.
I've certainly heard worse for 10 times the price, that's for sure. The sub is rich and full and easily overpowers the satellites. It's not overly boomy, maybe a little 'wooly' but nice. Just keep it turned down to a third or fourth on the sub's volume control.
I'm thinking with some break-in the sats may dig a little deeper and the whole system will integrate a little better. My only criticism at this point is there is a bit of a mid-bass dip... or a hole between the midrange and deep bass... And again, I'm hoping this fills in as the speakers move more freely after more use.
I'm very impressed with this little system at any volume. It gets plenty loud for my office and you can really rock out if you want to... And it sounds good at low volume too! I'd suggest a simple placement, with satellites left and right of the monitor and do whatever you have room to do with the sub.
This system comes with a volume control that includes main volume, treble control, and a microphone in one easy-to-use unit. The main volume knob is nice and big with a light so it's easy to find and adjust quickly if the phone rings.
I haven't tried the microphone yet but my system did not come with the microphone cable (nor did it come with any instructions). You'll need a male-to-male headphone-type cable to connect the main controller and mic to the PC.
Great system for the price, highly recommended.

Great sound. Great looks. Great Price.......2007-01-21
I have had these speakers for about 4 hours now. Listening to Pearl Jam's TEN album. So far I've been impressed with it's loud, full sound. Subwoofer hits reasonably hard for only being an 8 incher at around 100 watts. Cool volume and power pod lights up blue. (Goes well with black computers, lol) All in all, pretty happy with this buy. Well worth spending a Benjamin on.
Very Impressed.......2007-01-03
I have only had these speakers for about three days now, but I am very impressed with the sound (the most important factor)and the overall quality of the hardware. It's hard to believe that I could have gotten such a sophisticated looking and impressive sounding piece of hardware for less than $100. The cabling and connectors themselves look to be worth $100. The speakers produce a nice crisp and powerful sound. I'm very happy with this purchase.
Is the craftsmanship was as good as the sound..............2006-03-19
These would be excellent value speakers. Fro under 100 bucks they provide a wide range of sound. From crisp highs to thumping lows. For about a week. First off, I got the speakers and a corner piece on the sub fell off. Yep, just fell off. Cheap glue. No biggie. The speaker is under my desk anyway but it does go to show you that these are sub 100 buck speakers for a reason. They are not put together with any degree of quality workmanship. I could live with that however the satellite speakers beginning to crackle in just under a week. That of course was unacceptable. I listen to rock mostly. Throw in a little techno, which I did to see how it sounded on these speakers. I did not however overdrive these speakers. Not with power or volume control. They simply blew without any real provocation. If you only ever listen to music at extremely low levels these are pretty good speakers for the money. If you turn your music up at all then I would steer clear of Acoustic Authority alltogether.
Loud, yes. Good, no........2005-01-08
I bought these speakers based on many recommendations I read around the Internet, most of which made reference to the amazing volume levels you can achieve. However, once I unpacked the system and tried playing some of my music files I immediately noticed two problems: First, the bass produced by the subwoofer is quite "muddy," and makes the bass drums basically indistinguishable from bass guitar. Secondly, the satellite speakers have noticeable distortion in the midrange frequencies, so much so that I had to stop playing one particular song because I was getting headache from it.
I eventually sent these back and picked up the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers and I've been very happy ever since. I don't know if the ProMedias can generate the sheer volume levels, but they definitely reproduce the audio much more accurately.
Huh? What?!! I can't hear you!!.......2003-10-19
You gotta get these speakers! Try unreal Tournament just for starters! Then pop in one of your favorite hip hop or dance tunes and let er rip! Just be kind to your fellow neighbors and do it at decent hour of the day! Next check out a good Jet Li DVD and enjoy the fun!
I love the neat volume adjuster which looks like a little neon light blue mouse. You can add more or less bass or crank the sound to get rid of any hearing you have left. Oh and by the way...you can also hook up a PS2/X-box to this monster and make your neighbor think there's a little war starting next door!

eye catching.......2007-12-04
Purchased this little item just for its design knowing full well it was not going to have superb sound, but most audio players don't. It works well for its size and fills an entire room easily. I am pleased with the purchase made in conjunction with Target; however, the Raindesign web site refused my serial number as a valid number. I hope I do not have problems with this later on.
and it works with the iphone.......2007-09-11
...though when you first connect it, the iphone will tell you that it does not work with this accessory. then it will ask if you want to switch to airplane mode, in which you will not be able to receive calls. click no. you will still get crystal sound and be able to charge your device through the iwoofer. it seems to me like a very high quality product, though i've only just gotten it. the look is really cool, and it's perfect as a portable or a stationary player.
Great little radio!.......2006-12-20
This little radio is perfect for what it is. A small, portable, fun little iPod (and radio) speaker.
Are you going to get HUGE bass or perfect sound out of this? No, but you are going to get some good quality sound in something that looks good on your shelf or travels well. People will ask about it when they see it.
The sound quality is as good as, or better than, the other portable iPod speakers I have seen and you can connect other devices up via the audio jack in the back.
The fact that your iPod charges while it is on the dock and they send you all the little adapters, connectors, sprockets, and do-dads this little radio is a winner for me.
The only question I have left for it is how long will it run? I have only had it for a week now but it seems well built, it has a solid construction, the legs are metal with rubber feet, the front speakers are covered by a metal grill and the majority of the rest of the construction is plastic. It is my opinion that they packed a lot of good sound into this small device (the big woofer is on the bottom to take advantage of the space).
It seems a bit costly but I wanted something that looked fun and had some good sound so I went with the iWoofer (after visiting the Rain website and viewing the reviews).
RainDesign I-Pod Speaker is EXCELLENT.......2006-09-01
I had at work JBL On Stage Speakers for iPod and when I played it very low (I am working in a cube and everyone hears everything) all I heard was static it plays well when you blast it. A co-worker cried for those speakers for 4 months non-stop for me to pass it on to her because she could not buy them herself, so finally for her birthday I gave it to her and she was very happy. So that left me without anything to hear all day long. I only lasted 1/2 a day and bought the Rain Design iWoofer...never been HAPPIER! It is a clean clear sound that even at its lowest plays so well you think its a big unit not this small little cute thing. I love my alien face, the tummy glows a blue light and the space it takes on my desk is so little. This is a perfect fit for work desk area. The speaker is 4.50inch wide and to the top of the bold head its also 4.50inches. BUT the total height with the antenna is 11 inches. I was concerned that with the overhead cabinet in my cube that it would be too tall, but its not because you can FOLD down the antenna towards the back and it will stand 7 inches total with it folded down (the piece for the Ipod holder is the added inches). The Ipod on the stand with the antenna folded down in the back is a total of 9 inches. I am recommending this to any cube workers out there for the size, sound and look that is very cool. Buy it and have fun!
This is great........2006-06-25
I got this about the same time that I got my iPod, so that I can listen to it while at work, and it's fantastic. The sound quality is good, and it has plastic holders that will hold your iPod in place (there's (I think) four holders in a bag, and all you have to do is get the one that fits your particular model), so, you don't have to worry about your iPod getting knocked off or anything. Plus, it's kinda fun in its sci-fi/robot design. The only thing I would suggest is to watch out for the little pads that are on the end of the legs. One of them fell off when I first took the iWoofer out of the packaging, and it took a while (and another set of eyes) to relocate.

1/3 the price of bose, 4/5's the benifits + HDMI........2007-06-15
I was skeptical at first because of the relatively low price, and I wasn't sure I was going to keep it. After I tested it out on my patio-I'm convinced.
I'm not returning it. Mind you,I was outside and it still boomed loud enough for me to be concerned about a disturbing the peace call being made. Let's just say:"I hope, my neighbor doesn't get this HTIB."
First I tested a DVD- (Marky Marky drive a Mini Cooper) sorry I can't remember the name of it. I do remember watching it the first time without a decent HT and not being very interested. The Onkyo made the movie tolerable and down right entertaining. Sorry it couldn't make it memorable but I doubt even a Bose could complete that task. I especially was concerned with "hissing" during quiet dialouge. I hate that about my other HTIB. The Onkyo was impressive. I thought it was very low(distortion) for the $.
Next I tried out the receiver on a CD. Blondie's greatest Hits. Not my fav, but my wife's collection is more organized and accessible then mine.
Wow!!! The surround Neo:Music option played it Beautifully. It hit on all notes and was very clear and crisp. SOLID PRODUCT, BY A SOLID MANUFACTUER.
